It wasn't an uncommon practice after a hard day to find a group of men in an area, seated around chatting with one another. Comrades and compatriots, though they all had a common link for why they were there, the bronze rider seated near the head of the table. K'ienn was the link for why many of the men here stayed and chatted. Sure, most of them were trying to go higher up the ladder themselves by hanging on his coattails, something that always got a glare form the large man that was almost a shadow to K'ienn. Today was no different.

D'cimus sat at the table on one side of K'ienn while Or'en was on the other. At least Or'en D'cimus could stand better then the others who followed K'ienn around, but if K'ienn liked the simpering weaklings that followed him around so much and spoke his praises, then so be it, D'cimus would keep quiet. That didn't mean the blue rider wouldn't glare at them and intimidate them, it was amusing to see them get worried and anxious all of a sudden, especially some of the more spineless among them.

Always quiet, D'cimus just listened to the stories that were told, speaking a few works only when Or'en or K'ienn spoke directly to him. His mind always seemed to be blank or on other things more then anything.

The dark bronzer sat slouched back in his chair, one elbow hanging lazily over the backrest. His eyes were bright, his face lighting up every so often in amicable grins at the mens’ punchlines and overblown tales of bravery and skill that, through the power of strong drink, they almost believed they actually possessed. Though he had not placed himself at the head of the table, this man somehow seemed to hold an invisible sway over the gathering, as one would hold the reins of a runnerbeast, guiding it one way and another at will.

One either side of him were his closest companions; his Right and his Left. He considered them both brothers, though neither actually shared his bloodline. There was broad-bodied D’cimus, a bluerider who he sincerely regretted could not be promoted as slender Or’en, his brown-riding foster brother, had. The three of them had been connected for many turns, before and certainly ever since Impression, when they had all found their lifemates within the same clutch.

He swirled his cup and took a swig before grinning and elbowing D’cimus’s bicep. “You’re awfully quiet. How about telling us all a story?”

The invitation was only half-serious, a bit of an affectionate jab on K’ienn’s part. A few of their table companions heard and glanced at the large man expectantly, while others seemed to cringe. The cringing always made K’ienn chuckle inside.

O'ren was in high spirits as of late. He was happy to have made it to wingsecond, but happier still that his brother was a wingleader now, as he felt he deserved. He was hopeful that this marked a turning point in his career. And any of the.. difficulties that marked his past were over and done with.

K'ienn too seemed to be in a better mood these days. They were all sitting around a long table in the lower caverns, him, D'cimus, and K'ienn. As well as a number of other lackies who had come and gone with greater frequency throughout the turns. D'cimus was like him. He understood what was right for the Weyr. He'd picked him out from weyrlinghood as someone who could be relied on, especially when it came to his brother. He was a reliable asset, and O'ren was happy to have him within their wing, where he was sure (where he could ensure, rather) that he'd be able to reach his full potential. These others.. Well, they had their uses too.

O'ren lifted his eyes when his brother spoke up, glancing towards the other rider. He was surprised to hear K'ienn put the usually quiet rider on the spot like that. He leaned his head on his hand and turned his eyes towards the blue rider, curious what he would do. "Yeah, D'cimus." he said, grinning. "Tell us a story."

K'ienn's words made D'cimus turn his head to look at his friend, his eyes watching him as he spoke. O'ren was quick to speak up, parroting K'ienn's words and D'cimus just stared at the two men as he was aware of the others around him staring as well.

His face was impassive as he tried to figure out just what kind of story K'ienn was wanting him to tell. The easiest thing would be to extol the bronzerider's virtues, which would be easy enough, especially since he had been made Wingleader so recently.

"I can always try my best, K'ienn, but you and O'ren are the word weavers, not me." This was all he spoke in his gruff voice before his dark eyes moved to look over those around. Always an intimidating look upon his features, even now as he began to speak of the time when Thread had first begun to fall and how K'ienn, and many other riders, jumped to action to help save the weyr and the Holds beholden to it.
