St. Vier lingered just long enough to see that his will was done, letting Anselm and Lokeah pass by him and head up to Haven proper and the chapel he’d converted into his quarters when he’d first begun to turn the old church into what it was now.

Once again, he was surprised by the blue-haired slave’s compliance, and he mentally recategorized the other from a problem case to a potentially ideal subject. A bit of fire in the personality, even a bit of arrogance, was all to the good, was popular, as long as any aggressive actions could be trained out. If this one could maintain his swagger, and continue to yield as straightforwardly to any hint of dominance, to a simple kiss—then he could certainly be trained to be pleasing in any number of servile roles to the masters St. Vier typically was in business with.

This in mind, he silently gave over his scalpel to another Kir, the only other available. The others were away, performing some function for him that he could not immediately recall, a lapse in memory that perhaps should have caused him some worry but did not. They always returned, after all; they couldn’t but do so.

Similarly for Honey, who should have returned from his routine retrieval some time ago.

He waited until the blue-haired beauty was out of sight, being dragged into his cell, before carefully looking over those who remained in general holding—the dregs, mostly, of his business, those he hadn’t really bothered to assign to particular cells, to particular fates—before moving away toward his own quarters.
