DODGING

There are so many handsome dragons here, Gywndolin!

Neiveth was practically giddy, shifting her weight eagerly between her front legs as G'lin tightened her riding straps. She nosed at the boy when she felt they were too tight, snuffing and huffing until he loosened them. It was a careful song and dance to make sure the green was comfortable while also making sure he wouldn't just get flung from his dragon. A glance over those currently assembled, the pale haired boy took a deep breath, then climbed up on the green's back, settling to make sure he was secured.

Meanwhile, Neiveth was practically bursting with glee, eyeballing the other dragons eagerly. Too bad Takarath and Uridith wouldn't just let me snuggle up in the middle! she informed G'lin and his face visibly reddened - mostly because of what that implied of the riders and himself as well. My Lady, perhaps if all goes well you'll be able to ask about that after the drill. he suggested. Neiveth snorted. 'My Lady'. He only used that when he was obviously trying to shy her away from a thought.

She would definitely see if she could snuggle up with Uridith and Takarath later. Yes.

But first, it seemed she needed to get them in the air. She didn't particularly like ground take-off, and she very well made sure that G'lin was reminded of this as she made a rather ungraceful launch into the air, kreeling with some annoyance as they began to circle, gaining air until she seemed at least somewhat content with where they leveled out at. Then, they waited.

--

Dodging, I think we can do that OK. G'lin said hopefully and Neiveth crooned at him. Of course we can, Gwyndolin. It shouldn't be any problem. Yet even as she said it, her eyes obviously followed one of the other very, very lovely dragons flying past and with a firm THWUMP of his hand against the nape of her neck, G'lin snapped her attention right back to him.

MOVE.

They were off to a bad start, obviously.

Dodging

Once he had arrived Al'ndru had inclined his head to V'kenti, he had been surprised when the other had picked him as his Wingsecond but he didn't mind too much. Yeah he normally would have been find just staying in the background as a normal wingrider but Alucarth pushed so much, the small bronze had ambitions that would not be denied him by a lazy rider. With V'kenti and the other wingsecond helping him run the drill, Al'ndru had known he would be the one leading the charge and being in charge of the wing. Alucarth was ready for it, practically beeming with pride.

"Ready Alucarth?" He had finished fussing with the straps. Do you have to ask such a stupid question? Alucarth's voice in his mind and the words got a roll of the eyes as he climbed up onto his back. Al'ndru's eyes moved to look over those of Tornado wing. He knew all of them, which was good, this would help them work together.

Up in the air, as the first 'thread' fell Al'ndru was quick to react. Dodge Alucarth was ready and easily managed to miss the falling thread, though Al'ndru noticed that G'lin and Neiveth had already gotten hit by one. He nudged Alucarth and the dragon reached out to the green. Focus Neiveth. Al'ndru cursed at how blunt Alucarth was being to the green and shook his head some.

Kyt & Green Rath - Flaming

Kyt took the time before they started to readjust her straps and make sure that everything was secure. The last thing she wanted was to fall on her face and make a fool of herself, or worse. Rath nosed at her impatiently shifting her weight as she sighed heavily. I thought this was supposed be fun. Waiting around starting at everyone is NOT my idea of fun Kytmine! The whiny tone in the green's voice came across clear, even before she spoke. Kyt sighed and shook her head placing a soothing hand against the green. Soon love. We just need to wait until everyone has arrived.

It wasn't long at all before Kyt positioned herself atop Rath, listening with rapt attention to the directions. With a nod of understanding she lightly nudged the green beneath her and the pair took to the sky with an astounding amount of grace for a greenpair. Though a few moments later Kyt's face was dyed scarlet as her 'Thread' missed, scattering harmlessly away. Next time...we can do better love. Its my fault for being so nervous.

Flaming

When V'kenti had come to him about joint Wing exercises and making it a competition, A'dras had found the idea very intriguing. He knew that all the wings needed to practice and making it a competition like this would foster their ability to work together better, as well as make it fun. It was one of the reasons he was here, with three others of his wing. While it was not the entirety of his wing, he was proud to see that Ay'ril and Yffengeth were here, as well as Ashlyn and Kyt.

He listened as V'kenti spoke and explained everything, nodding his head as he had already fixed the straps on Gareth. Swinging up, he looked at his wing and smiled. "Try your hardest guys." He wasn't one for rousing speeches unless it actually meant something.

They easily took to the air though when thread fell Gareth missed and A'dras raised an eyebrow. "Come on Gareth, focus."

Ashlyn and Gyafrith-Flaming

Ashlyn had gotten to where A'dras had told them the Wing drill with one of the other wings would be held. She had given her own incline of the head to V'kenti and the members of Tornado Wing who were there. Then she smiled over to her own wing, glad to see a few of the others had been able to make it, including their own Wingleader. As directions were given, the Weyrlingmaster's Assistant and her blue listened attentively. Since she had already made sure Gyafrith's straps were fixed, she allowed him to follow the others up to the right altitude. Once they knew their wing was on Flaming duties this round, she nodded and got ready.

"Alright, Gyafrith, you heard A'dras, let's try our hardest. This is what we teach the Weyrlings, so hopefully we can handle it here,"she spoke to her dragon.

Don't worry, Mine, we will do everything we can. It is good for us to have training,Gyafrith assured, as he got ready to flame the falling 'thread.'

Uridith and Lestenna of course were happy to stand by V'kenti and Takarath for this drill session. It was rare enough to have a free day when V'kenti was running a cross-wing attempt, so they'd made clear their intent to join in. Lestenna had already geared up the gold with her flamethrower's tanks, and the gold had bobbed a greeting to Tikth as Lestenna was tightening her straps. It pleased the gold to see the clever brown in attendance—she had played a part in his joining the weyr after all, and he seemed to be doing very well. In her own way, the gold had mentally lumped him in with her children, and felt a maternal pride for him.

Takarath too was subject to her attentions, though Lestenna kept a firm grip on the gold to keep her from trying to cuddle with her mate. Here and now Takarath was the leader, and respect was harder to win when he had a big sappy gold hanging off him. Pleased, devoted blue twirled through her eyes at the sight of him though, and hopefully it would lend itself to Uridith's efforts that day.

As the drill began they did their part. Sadly the gout of flame released from the flamethrower went wide of their target, and Lestenna mentally reached out to redirect Uridith's course. This was exactly why they practiced, so this sort of thing wouldn't happen. hopefully it'd not happen again, either.

E'dan and Galxath had been plenty happy for the change of pace. Drilling with other wings? And a gold rider? That was unusual, and that meant it was entertaining, and thus fun! Galxath of course felt slightly more intimidated by the presence of the gold—what if he messed up?—but E'dan seemed confident and at ease, as always.

It was that relaxed vibe that let them dodge the first wave of falling 'thread' with ease, almost lazily rolling out of the way with a flip of the tail and a low hum of pleasure at managing the move. See? nothing to worry about!

V'kenti watched after throwing the threads out for round one. Over all, he'd say it was a successful round for Tornado with only Neiveth getting hit. As he told Al'ndru to lead the wing for the drill, V'kenti left it to him to make any comments though the wing would get his report later. Hurricane wing had the inverse results with only Bronze Yffengeth successfully flaming which was a point in V'kenti's eyes seeing as how it was the results he would want to see. "Takarath, let them know the range will be wider this time, so they should have a better chance." Takarath rumbled slightly before turning his attention to the dragons below.

1st 1d20 decides rolls:

Lucayr and Tikth, Flaming

Direct hit: +4 to Tornado Wing!

Although it wasn’t real Thread they were fighting, Tikth was still powerfully stirred against it, and relished the opportunity to flame with a purpose beyond merely entertaining people. Being such a diminutive brown, delicately built with all length and no bulk, he had a bit more maneuvering power than many of his color. At Lucayr’s signal he twisted sharply, belching flame at a clump that tried to sneak by in a blind spot. It hit dead center, his flame spreading from there to the outer edges, and the ashes of the false Thread scattered on the wind.

Flaming

Pay attention, dear. G'lin gently patted the green's neck and Neiveth whirled her head around, looking back at her dear chosen with some scrutiny. I am paying attention, Gwyndolin! she protested and the pale haired boy found himself sighing as he shifted in his straps to take one of the bags of firestone off of it. Neiveth took the contents willingly, crunching the stones between her teeth and swallowing them down before she reeled her head back to ask for more.

This isn't actual Thread, Neiveth. We don't need to chew that much. His words made the green rumble. What is the point of practice if we don't take it seriously, Gwyndolin? Were you not just fussing over me not taking it seriously? Honestly. Give me more. It wasn't a request and G'lin relented, giving the eager green her second mouthful of stone to chew up as they changed course to follow their 'Threads' for target.

Well.

G'lin was very inexperienced, but still, he was embarrassed.

(So was Pach because look at that roll. Someone get this boy a tutor.)

Ashlyn and Gyafrith- Dodging

Ashlyn frowned slightly, thinking maybe they needed to work some more on their flaming. However, with a sense of calm coming from Gyafrith, she knew he had sensed her disappointment. Of course, she was being too hard on herself, she should know that sometimes it happens during these games. Plus, as she noted, all but one of their team missed their target. She was surprised that even A'dras had missed, it just went to show anything could happen. New instructions came in and seemed their Wing would be dodging this time.

"Okay, let's hope this will work easier. Ready, Gyafrith?"the young woman asked.

Yes and remember, do not kick yourself, if it doesn't go as well,he reminded, then got ready to dodge.

Both blue and gold dragons wheeled around to make another pass at the 'thread', both intent this time on singing it from the sky. Unfortunately both also missed their marks, and both E'dan and Lestenna curved away with their wings, sporting almost identical frowns. Lestenna's was the firmer frown, and she was already shifting and adjusting the flamethrower. If this was a true fall, people might be dead for her bad aim. This couldn't be allowed to happen again.

Both missed HOORAY.
