[PRP] A Golden Opportunity (Olliah & Tia)

Tia lay on the floor of the creche, sleeping children all around her. She didn't have a craft yet, and morning lessons had already gotten out for the day. The creche workers had put the littler kids down to sleep and, though told she was allowed to play by herself if she wanted, Tia had opted to join them. She stuck out like a wherry among firelizards. Most older kids were off working on their crafts or maybe visiting their rider parents.

Her eyes, half-lidded and heavy, though not closed, focused on patterns in the stone which she traced with her finger. She was kind of old for naps.. (she was kind of old for the creche, to be honest) but she didn't mind. It was comforting somehow. Small for her someone her age, curled up, she could fit on one of the sleeping mats like the ones she used when she was younger and daydream through the early afternoon.

She liked to daydream about Elyn sometimes. She liked to pretend she was still alive. She'd imagine playing with Apeth, or eating dinner together like they used to. Her sister said that was morbid. She'd only known her a turn after all.. But it was better than thinking about the truth.

I am going to base this RP before she fosters Wish's twins -- this way Tia gets to be first, and she can hopefully bond with her a little better!

Olliah lingered outside the door of the creche, taking a moment to compose herself. She'd worked it out with Padmia, and though Olliah knew that some might raise a brow about how she was foolish to take on even more fosterlings, the dark haired woman wasn't going to abide such criticism. She was busy as the Weyrwoman Second, but she also knew her schedule, knew how much she could handle, and quite frankly, did have the time and desire. Her other fosterling's had long since grown -- some were no longer part of High Reaches. Olliah had a big heart, and a large weyr . . . a very empty weyr.

Today, she hoped to fix that.

Opening the door to the creche, the woman made sure to be quiet. There were so many sleeping babes and young ones, and each one alled to a small part of Olliah. But some of the babes already had caretakers and foster parents; others had parents that simply needed them cared for while they worked. But there was one child here, one older child, that Olliah was here for specifically.

It did't take long to find Tia, who was curled up on the floor. Ah, but her heart broke, looking at the poor child. She could't imagine what she'd been through, what she was feeling like, but Olliah had picked her to foster. She had argued with Padmia about it, but had been firm on her choice. "Tia?" She spoke softly, so as not to wake any of the other sleeping children, and came to crouch down next to the girl. "Sweetie, are you awake?" It was obvious that she was, but Olliah didn't want to assume anything, especially if the girl was shy, and needed a moment to composure herself.

Tia smiled sleepily at the floor as her mind wandered, but the next moment, she was pulled out of her day dreams by someone gently calling her name. She pushed herself up on her arm, thinking it must be one of the caretakers. "I'm awake." she said rubbing her eye. Maybe they wanted her help with something. She didn't mind helping out with chores while the other kids were asleep. It made her feel more grown up, and it was nice being one on one with the adults around her, for once, who usually had far too many kids to deal with at once.

But the woman she saw wasn't one she immediately recognized. She sat up, bringing her knees up to her chest and wrapping her arms around them shyly. "Hello." she said, ducking her head behind her knees a little, though she was smiling. She was pretty.. And she seemed nice.

Now that she looked at her, her face did look a little familiar though. It was one of the ones you always saw at big Weyr-wide events. Wasn't that the weyrwoman second? But what would she be doing here?

Olliah watched as the girl sat up and immediately hugged her legs to herself. She had thought that she might be a bit shy... which is also why she didn't want to spring anything on her immediately. "Hello," she greeted softly, not wanting to disturb the sleeping children around them. "I'm Olliah," she greeted. "I was hoping maybe we could talk. Do you mind joining me in one of the other rooms?" She asked, deciding to leave it up to Tia.

If the girl wanted to stay, she could keep up the whispers, but she did rather hope that maybe she could draw her out of the creche. There were other empty playrooms, a nursing room, and a few lounge areas for convenience of those who worked in the creche. This way they wouldn't wake up the other children, and of course, depending on Tia's reaction, they would more-or-less have some privacy. Not that the young girl had much of a choice or say in who she was fostered to -- but Olliah did hope Tia wouldn't mind. It was always easier to foster someone when they wanted to be, as opposed to those that had little trust or faith in the system.

Fianth sent Olliah a wave of reassurance. The golden dragon was quite keen to meet the small hatchling her rider wanted to care for, and wanted all this official business to hurry along. If Fianth had her choice, her rider would have already told her the great news, and as far as the queen was concerned, it was great news.
