Many who don't venture far into the wilds of the north likely believe that a forest must cease to exist outside the efforts of the inn
keepers. The northern region is actually known for it's abundance of plant life and even houses a large forest.

There is an old train overgrown with vegetation that derailed as it made an attempt to leave
the old city during the time period around the great storm somewhere in the forest.

It's a dangerous forest of course as it belongs to the Armageddon raiders and while you may just come
across beautiful sights like an abandoned line of train cars you may also be unlucky enough to find one of Dante's men about. Oh, and don't
forget those ever so fun mutated critters! Some have gotten pretty big.

It was almost peaceful at this place. Compared to other areas he had been in this new world, this was quite a haven. Ikuto was walking through the forest carefully, reminding himself of his training as a hunter. You never knew what was lurking around the next bush or tree. With his knowledge of hunt and herbs, the nekomata had to admit that this would be the best place for him to hide out in. Especially if it avoided any other slave traders for longer. Thinking about that, Ikuto's hand went to the collar around his neck and he closed his eyes for a moment. His first adventure one could say in this world. One unattended moment and he had found himself caught by multiple men which ended up selling him to the highest bidder.

"Several years of servitude and pain. That man deserved every little bit that came at him in the end." Ikuto muttered and opened his eyes. His knowledge of poisons had served him well there. It had been a last desperate attempt to escape that miserable life and it had paid off. The man never realized his wine was spiked with a triple dose of nightshade. An evil grin played over the feline's lips before he let go off the collar he had kept to remind him of the challenges he overcame and continued his walk through this forest. It looked lush and alive. So different from the wasteland. As he wandered under the trees, Ikuto looked up and checked the position and way the branches grew. Some would make excellent tree houses. And he would need a new place to stay now he escaped. Deciding to first go look for wildlife to gain hides and meat, the nekomata pulled up his cloak a bit and made sure it hid the collar, just in case.

Surely there would be animals living here too? The forest had enough food for them. Even a few deer would be enough, or perhaps even a warthog. Of course he would also need wood to make a fire so he could work the hides and roast the meat. But all in good time. First he would go find his prey. The feline knelt a moment before he pushed himself up and climbed in the nearest tree as high as he could. Once he reached a comfortable elevation level, he leaned back against the tree itself and scanned the area around him. For more than one reason. Game, wood and possible enemies.

The memories of shore

Red eye's scanned the lush green forest as Flynn made his way deeper into the northern Raider territory. He knew that any moments spent in such a place put him at rick but there was little he could do when it came to certain resources. In this case lumber and from a specific tree, the scattered but strong redwood that he favored repairing his old ship with. It was a rare tree when the forests of the world thrived and even more so now that so little vegetation still exist...

He was cautious and alert knowing the place was crawling with those who wouldn't hesitate to kill or capture him so any sudden movement or sound would catch his attention. It was thanks to his cybernetic enhancements that he was still able to live the way he did without getting caught. The man was known well enough in the city and surrounding areas as the reckless pirate of the wastelands who owned a moving weapon-smithy that was basically created from and old boat and large vehicle parts. He could be valuable for that reason but also executed as a thief from his means of gathering materials.

He came upon one of those very trees he seeked without a problem and approached with his blonde hair bouncing slightly with each step. Flynn brought up his robotic left arm that made a gentle whir of a sound to touch it's trunk and a smile came to his face. "Sorry buddy, but I need ya for something important okay?" He said in a whisper, though one that a creature with with enhanced hearing could notice. With the dwindling forests he always felt bad to be stealing their resources.

The feline had taken his time and only looked around for the usual threats. After all he was quite new to this land but already learned there were people out there willing to go by less friendly means if it meant getting rich. He had no idea about raiders or thieves of any kind however. He had been hunting down a small deer, before he had put up a fire and ate the meat. But just as he was taught back at home, he would make sure to find uses for all but the bones. The bones he threw in the fire once he was done, so they could be cremated and returned to the earth as ash. The ash would promote growth in turn.

By now Ikuto had found a nice place that could serve as a home. It was like a large hollow covered with leaves and branches, as if nature herself had decided to hide the entrance to be lived in by people as Ikuto. With his religion, that was exactly what the feline thought as well. It was big enough to stand in, yet not so big it stood out from outside. Inside he had cleaned up some cobwebs and dirty patches and lay down his make shift bed for the night when it would come. This was even better than a tree house.

The built was alike a small cave, so the feline could tell it would be cool in heat and comfortable in cold. Once done with the preparations he went back outside to explore the surroundings some more of his new home. It wouldn't do to be surprised after all. With another agile jump he was back in the trees and started looking around the area, even diverting from the path to his home. He would track it back easily. While in a tree further away, he could suddenly hear sounds that weren't wild life and he looked in the direction of the sound.

Upon seeing the man, the feline instinctively went into a more cautious mode and he leaned back against the tree he stood in. There was no way of telling this man was friendly or not, so Ikuto would observe him at first. Ikuto's eyes narrowed in caution, his ears moving forward curiously as he lowered himself just a little bit and a few branches down as quiet as he could to determine the new threat that had shown up suddenly. Though he couldn't avoid some sound with how the tree was growing, causing an unavoidable rustling sound of leaves.

His hand slid from the bark of the old tree and reached up behind his back where a large battle ax was mount. The thing was huge and most wouldn't stand a chance at bringing it into a swing like he could. He made it special and balanced it out to a weight that not only fit his body and strength but one that could do serious damage to an enemy. It was probably one of the few reasons he hadn't been caught yet. It was made of steel with a handle lined carefully with leather and the head of the weapon was engraved with an intricate design.

With both hands he grasped it tight and brought it back in order to swing the steel object at the tree... but then a noise was heard. Stopping mid swing, his head whipped into the direction of what sounded like a rustle of leaves of another nearby tree or bush. No. He identify it as a tree as it sounded as if it came from somewhere above. Now instead of smacking his weapon into his intended living target his eye's shift to another. His left eye made an unusual zip of a sound as it's focus zoomed in to the small breaks in the leaves, searching for something, anything that looked unusual... and they found it.

He caught an odd glimpse of color if only for a second and his ax immediately swung in the direction of the tree he suspected an intruder to be in.

"Who's there?! You a raider?!"
He hissed, though he sounded more cautious than like someone vicious. It usually wasn't good to find someone sneaking about in this day and age and in raider territory he could never be too careful.

Ooc: What he saw definitely doesn't have to be your boy, it could have been nothing at all!

This land was sure strange to the feline. The ground itself even felt different from where he came from and the trees were an odd color. But nothing he had seen this far, had been as strange as the person standing below. They seemed ordinary from behind, safe for the huge ax, but when they turned in the direction of where he hid suddenly, Ikuto's left ear flicked when he heard an unusual sound. He looked at the one before him and tilted his head a bit when he noticed their unusual eye, or perhaps it was an aid, that made more sense.

The feline stayed hidden and quiet as he observed the man now turned towards him. However they didn't sound like they would attack on sight. Or they'd have flung the weapon at his position already. He wasn't sure who this man, or even a raider, was but they seemed cautious of the 'raiders' they mentioned. Perhaps that was the name for the people that had flung him into slavery? He did hear the word before. Ikuto scratched his head a bit before he sighed and allowed himself to lower down more and landed next to the tree. Another cautious glance was given toward the other before the nekojin stepped out of the shadows he felt much more comfortable in.

It was a gamble, a dangerous one perhaps, but one that didn't take risks would always spend their time looking over their shoulders. And that was one thing the feline didn't want. He rearranged his shirt some once more, just to be safe at hiding his collar if possible, and stopped on a safe distance he hoped having enough time to dodge if the man still decided they'd rather attack him. "I'm not sure what a raider is, but I prefer to call myself a traveler. Perhaps somewhat of an explorer, considering this whole land is unusual to me. You?" he spoke calmly as he looked at the other, ready to jump aside if he had to. Sure he was trained in the bow, sword and dagger, but his weapons had been taken when they had first thrown him into a life of servitude.

Flynn moved back a couple steps as the figure in the tree came down to land beside it. It was always better to be cautious when first meeting another and he surely had never seen this man. He looked over the other as he came out of the shadows, observing that he had feline aspects as well as seemed to be reasonable well built. A weapon could be concealed but there were none visible. Knowing the general appearance and demeanor of the raiders in this area, he could at least discern that this man didn't seem like one. Overall, Flynn was a gentle man so he wasn't about to attack a creature he didn't see as a threat.

"Good answer." He said, a bit relieved and prying the ax from it's place in the tree. The gash left wasn't deep, far less deep than it could have been if he'd used his full strength and it wasn't enough to bring the tree down.

He let the head of the ax rest on the ground while he leaned on the handle. "Yer in raider territory, it's dangerous if you're not one o' them. They're nasty folk." He explained before getting to speaking of himself. "The names Flynn, pirate of the wastelands~" A friendly grin came to his face. He knew it wasn't a term used so much anymore but before he was a clunky robotic man he really loved old pirate stories. It was why he created his ship on wheels.

"What're ya doing out here if ya ain't a raider?" He questioned.

For a moment it seemed to Ikuto that the other was scared of him. Or perhaps he was just very cautious, like the feline was. They backed away a bit at the very least. If the situation hadn't been unknown and on edge for the nekojin, he might have thought it hilarious, considering the man had a large ax, whereas Ikuto was unarmed. He had used makeshift weapons so far to help build and hunt, but all of them had been only good for one use or short duration before breaking. Ikuto wasn't a blacksmith after all. After a short stare down, the feline could at least determine that the man wouldn't attack him, they wouldn't be standing here as they did.

Ikuto wondered what would have been a wrong answer only fleetingly as the other spoke. All he understood was that his intuition at the moment was right, he was safe. For now. The feline's eyes followed the ax as it was placed head on the ground and then moved upward again to look at his present company when they spoke once more. "Duly noted." he said, not wanting to blurt the information about possibly already meeting them. For all he knew, this guy would take him right back to the slave market for a reward or something and he obviously had the advantage over Ikuto if it were to come to a fight.

The nekojin remained cautious even when the other smiled. He knew nothing about him after all. Trust would take time. "My name is Ikuto. I traveled here from a faraway land." he replied to Flynn. That was pretty much where he came from. A different land, though by the looks of it an entire different world though he thought they spoke of a land that was destroyed. The other didn't seem familiar with his species perhaps, Ikuto didn't know. The feline listened to the question, though he wondered how to reply to that. He hardly knew himself what he was doing out here. He had entered on a whim and it burned him badly, turned him from traveler to a murderer and a fugitive. Even if his Master had brought it on himself, that was not how the owner community reasoned.

"I am just traveling and exploring this land. But when I found this forest I decided to stay." he replied, allowing his gaze to wander away from Flynn for the first time as they went around their surroundings as his ears remained moving from curious to cautious. It didn't least long before he looked at the other man however. "You could say I am just surviving and living my life." Ikuto continued. And stay away from people that looked like they were in the higher society and trying to stay out of sight of guards and the like, but of course the feline wasn't going to add that. "You seem very worried about these raiders. I could ask you the same thing, what are you doing here if you don't want to meet those people?" Fair enough, Ikuto thought. At least they would know each other's purpose and intentions.

So this man was from somewhere far away huh? It brought about the question of how he managed to make it through raider lands to wind up here without any trouble. It was the reason Flynn didn't even know what was out past those territories that felt like they were endless. But that wasn't important now.

As far as he could tell, there was no threat from this man and he was just as cautious about running into him which was understandable. He didn't mind the fact that whether this "Ikuto" was lying or not would remain a mystery for the time being either. Flynn was a good guy and he didn't like to see someone in danger. If that brought him trouble, well he was strong enough to handle himself, or at least that's how it had played out until now.

HE took a moment to think over the others words as he spoke and he found similarities to his own situation. "Well, looks like ya live a similar lifestyle to mine... but I'd advise against living in this forest." The cyborg repeat himself if only for the other's safety.

"The reason I'm here though. That's cause I need resources. These ere' trees are some of the few left and the redwood are the strongest. Can resist the storms."
HE explained, pointing out the tree the Nekojin had perched himself in. A lucky coincidence as he wasn't going to leave a tree damaged just because he favored the wood of another. "My ships damaged and I use what's left for weapons and carvings." He mentioned. Almost hoping it would spark interest in the other to pry him away from the dangerous lands even just for the day.

The truth was Flynn wasn't in bad with the raiders, in fact he sold his work to them, but they didn't provide him with resources nor did they allow him to take them. It was a tricky thing.

Ikuto considered keeping some information more as a necessity than a bad thing himself as well. After all he had no way of knowing what Flynn would do if he knew the full truth. The feline suppressed another urge to re-arrange the collar of his shirt. It should be holding up fine and if he were to mess to much with it, it might become suspicious or even work against keeping the collar hidden. Keeping it as a reminder was one thing, showing it off a whole other. It seemed unwise.

When Flynn spoke again, his ears flicked once before he nodded. The advise was all fine and good, but it didn't really help him. "It's not like I have anywhere else to go." he replied. "And I grew up in forests. I know almost every herb and it's properties. For good or for bad. I understand your concern, but for me this forest is my largest chance of survival." he added. That was alright to share he thought. And it was exactly how Ikuto saw his situation that he found himself in. He would know how to hide, he could use the herbs if he had an ailment and he could hunt the animals for food. If the hunt didn't work out there would be plenty of berries.

But he soon turned his attention back to Flynn as they answered his question in turn. "Your ship?" he asked, slightly surprised after all he had seen in this land so far. "Is there even water left for your ship to sail on? From what I saw before I found this forest, there is wasteland and ashes, but no large bodies of water. Unless yours can fly." he spoke intrigued. Ikuto couldn't remember seeing large enough waters left for a ship. But perhaps he had just missed them by another route. So far it looked like Flynn wasn't a threat to him though. At least not with the information they had on the nekomata so far.

That wasn't all that caught his attention however. The man had mentioned weapons. Since Ikuto had lost his, perhaps he could get new ones from Flynn, if they could agree on a trade between them. After all the captors hadn't neglected to take away Ikuto's money either and being pretty much a fugitive he could hardly march into a busy market to earn money anew. "You make your own weapons, like that ax?" he asked as he gestured toward the weapon on the ground. "How much would it cost to buy some weapons from you? Or rather is there anything you would consider good enough for a trade for some. I lost mine...a while ago, along with my money." he said.

"But perhaps there is something I can help you with in return." he offered and waited. He could only hope. Yet at the same time he had to be careful about the deal they would be making, as he himself knew the limits put on his kind all to well. A deal was a powerful thing with a demon, same for a feline one like Ikuto. The feline would have to make sure he was cautious enough to avoid he would end up ensnared by his own agreement. But before he could worry about that, the question was if Flynn was even interested in a trade, or only in hard coin. If the latter, Ikuto was in bad luck and would have to settle for the makeshift stuff he made himself.

It was nice that Ikuto had begun to ease up a bit to the point of being willing to tell more of himself to Flynn. The skills he mentioned were incredibly useful and would be something highly sought after by others which could of course end good or bad depending on who exactly you told. He was lucky it was Flynn.

The blonde nod with a big grin spreading across his face when the other picked up on and questioned his ship. He was oh so proud of it's creation and the dork loved talking about it! "Mhmm, my ship! It don't fly, or float anymore. But I built it up on wheels, ya know like the ones tanks have that can go over everything??" Flynn began, excited as ever over the wooden beast he created to glide over the sands. "I used ta build and maintain ships."

Oh but it seemed that this man had another problem as well and that was the lack of weaponry in such a dangerous place. He listened to the others plea before nodding again. "Yup, made this pretty girl myself. One of my best really..." He started, and he was obviously just as proud of the axe as he was the boat. "But as for a price..." Then he paused to ponder the situation for a moment while his eyes fixated on the design engraved in the head of his weapon.

"How 'bout this." He said, returning his attention to the feline. "Ya help ol' Flynn here out with a few things and get those weapons free?" He wasn't one for material items or money outside the necessities he needed to survive and he couldn't leave a man defenseless. If it came down to distrust he'd at least offer a dagger without payment.

"Like I said, the ships got some wear an' tear right now, so I could use some help getting a tree back an' fixin' it." He explained and used his thumb to point backwards in the direction his ship was on the outer edge of the forest. "I get it if ya don't trust me enough to do any of that though." Yes not being entirely human was helpful, but there were so many times he really just wished there was someone else there. Besides, he hated the loneliness this world brought to a person like himself.

The feline allowed himself to let up some and relax more. Instead of standing on guard and watching the other with suspicion, he was now leaning back against the tree nonchalantly. He reminded himself that he was quite fast if he had to be and the other had a large ax to haul along with him. Not that the nekomata expected an attack as much now, Flynn seemed friendly enough. His tail was lazily swaying behind him between his legs and the tree. Ikuto learned to hide the fact he had two tails, as it seemed they made him quite rare and valuable to traders and downright terrifying for normal folk when all he wanted was to just live his life.

Nonetheless, Ikuto kept making sure not to neglect listening to the surroundings as well as to Flynn. The other had been startled when the nekomata had dropped in on him, so to say, and that probably wasn't without reason. He was listening though when they spoke of their ship. It had left the feline curious as to what kind of a ship would still be operational in this area. And it was clear to see that Flynn didn't mind talking about the ship either. The way he beamed reminded Ikuto roughly about a mother about their child. He looked confused though when the man asked about knowing the wheels tanks had. "I know nothing about any tanks." he spoke.

In fact the entire word didn't ring familiar. The only modernization he had seen had been at his master's house and none of that sounded like it came even remotely close. Where the feline came from they still all lived in the old way. It took him ages to get used to the way they heated a room in this weird land. Soon he was distracted from such thoughts however, as Flynn seemed to be considering his offer. His surprise might have been apparent on his face when he heard Flynn's request. Just some help hauling a log and repair for free weapons?

He was unknown with modern appliances, but he knew how to work wood. So it was a request that fell in his ability to fulfill. "That is all you require in exchange for weapons?" he asked, tilting his head a bit. To him it sounded like an unfair trade, unfair to Flynn that is. Yet the feline would not decline it if that was what they wanted. He took some time thinking it over however, making sure there wasn't a loophole he could fall in by demon laws which were binding. "If that is everything you want in return, I can tell you I am able to accept that request." he said as he pushed away from the tree so he could follow if that was the intend. The deal sounded safe enough, it was specified he would just help with the log and fixing the ship. There was no way that could turn against him he thought.

The memories of shore
And the red sky that warned you
Of the lightning igniting the sky
This ship is going down

Okay, so the other didn't have knowledge of the metal beast he spoke of, but that was understandable seeing as most tanks fell to ruin as the humans began to fall. What use did the supernatural creatures have for such a contraption? Besides, the feline would see what he meant soon enough, seeing as he finally answered being willing to help.

"Aye! I ain't the type to go making folk pay too much for a means of protecting themselves." He said, and it was clear in his expression that he meant it. THe hesitation in the others decision also proved that he wasn't likely to have ill intentions for Flynn either, but it also told him that this man had something to be afraid of. If not raiders... then what?

"Now first things first, this tree needs ta come down." He said, walking over and patting the trunk. "Stand over there so it don't come down on yer head." He warned and when Ikuto was clear out of what he considered the fall zone he drove his axe into the tree again and again. Lower than his previous strike when he wished to spook the other male.

The large heavy tree came down with a large thud that echoed through the neighboring trees loud enough that creatures in the immediate area could hear. "Mmmkay, now we gotta get this outta here fast." He began and tossed a small wood cutters axe in the mans direction. Flynn began to cut away at the branches and quickly started securing ropes and metal hooks into the fallen tree. There was never time to cut the resource into more manageable sizes or to take extra trips to gather it before the sounds would raise raider attention.

"There's a straight shot through those trees to the ship, the tree shouldn't get hung up so long as the dense branches are gone." He said, pointing out the way. And with that he'd pull a group of the ropes and slung it over his left shoulder before making the inhuman act of basically lifting that whole end of the tree off the ground. He didn't expect Ikuto to do the same, but a little help pulling would be nice and make the journey through the woods much quicker.

This place would seem to turn stranger and stranger to the nekomata. Not that it was a bad thing per-say. Ikuto liked experiencing new things and discover new places and means most of the time. But right now he was in a world he knew nothing of at the mercy of people that knew all about it. His time under his former Master had not really wizened him in the workings of this land. Only of the appliances at the house. Seeing the other actually meaning what he said, enabled the feline to be a little less on guard to the man.

It was exhausting to be on alert 24/7. He hardly slept since he entered this land. But such was the price of being captured so soon after he entered and then ending up a fugitive. Perhaps the people he thought of were raiders, he reasoned, but he had no idea if they would be the same people and not really an inconspicuous way of asking Flynn either. If he would ask him the comparison they might want to know more about his history or already guess it. That was not a risk Ikuto was willing to take already.

Ikuto nodded when Flynn spoke of stepping aside. It made sense of course. Not even a demon like Ikuto could hope to win it of such a large tree if they came crashing down on top of him. Once the other was through and the tree crashed down loudly, Ikuto flinched slightly and looked around quickly before he closed his eyes. The only part of his body that was moving were his ears as they flicked and twitched into different directions before he opened his bright red eyes once more and sighed a bit in relief.

Nonetheless it seemed the two males were sharing one concern. What could be drawn to the sound of this tree soon if they didn't hurry. He had opened his eyes on time to notice he was tossed a small ax and managed to catch it in time thanks to his training he had back at home. It didn't take the nekomata long to join Flynn into cutting the branches off. He wasn't new to working on trees and of course he had a deal to uphold as well. Between the two of them they managed to smooth the tree out rather quickly.

Once Flynn started to pull the tree away, Ikuto only stood still for a moment, surprised by this man's strength. Perhaps he would have been able to easily chase him with that ax of his, but since he had been tossed an ax for helping out, clearly the man was also a person of his word. Ikuto put the ax in his belt for now and got to Flynn's side, helping him pull the tree as well is he could. Of course it would bring him real close to the man, but Ikuto, for now, considered the other safe enough. Their smile and expressions sure didn't seem to hide ill intend and their offers were really compassionate and friendly.

Yuki Tsukihana

Nothing could ever stop us...

They arrived a little earlier than he thought but the sooner the better. Yuki examined the forest in front of him with a frown. In the city there'd be only thieves he had to worry about. From the rumors he heard, the raiders are even more dangerous than pesky thieves and bandits. And this forest is going to be swarming with them.

This is a bad idea. But they're here now, no use going back. Yuki sighed and crossed his arms. "This is going to be dangerous, with the raiders and all." He said to his companion with a shrug. "But there's no use going back now, right? We'll need to be on high alert if we are to stay here." With that, Yuki walked into the forest.

Yuki liked forests. He liked the air and the peaceful silence that gave him time to think. There are not a lot left after the storm and if he thought about it, maybe there are not much to begin with. All he saw are broken down buildings that nature is trying to reclaim. This for this forest, though, he liked the silence yet he had to be alert. Taking out his weapons, Yuki held the chain linking the two kukris and spun one around beside him as he focused on sensing the area around him. Nothing so far but the usual bugs.

"It's still a little early. Let's look for anything to eat. We can pick up things for a campfire as we go." He said with a small smile.
