Prompt: It is well known that we each possess an innate ability to sense danger before it approaches, although not everyone is in tune with such a skill. Describe a situation in which you were in peril, and how you got out of it. Or perhaps how you rescued another. Maybe in fact you did not escape, and find yourself either scarred by the event, or still in the clutches of that other.
Magic has run rampant in the Kawani Lands for months now. Lately, the denizens of the deep have become frightened, although the source of their terror is unnamed and as of yet unknowable. Could it be that each individual event has been leading up to something greater still? Winter's cold bite did not destroy the Kawani Lands, try though it might, and each storm has been met with determination to press onward. Still, it is quite natural to fear for what may yet come.
**Please note: If your prompt response meets the word count requirement for stats you can also link your post in the monthly stat thread and count it as RP for your pony.**

Riddles in the Dark
Username: Ebonrune Who are you entering with? Soini Link to the RP you're using: N/A Prompt response: Soini stood with his head down, shaking out on the waves his kirin heritage allowed him to stand upon even as his Kelpi half urged him to dive. It had just been a shadow in the forest along the beach, but he could have sworn he'd seen the eyes of the walker who had once held him in his clutches, who had tortured and experimented on him. Taken his voice. He still wished he could remember how he had escaped, but all he could remember was running. Running and running until his legs literally collapsed under him and he could run no more no matter how he'd tried to rise.
He felt a nudge and jumped before looking up at his half-brother Tait who had stepped out onto the waves after him. Tait didn't speak, but once he'd made Soini aware of him, stepped sideways to press against his side, telling his sibling without words that he was safe. Slowly, with Tait's urging, Soini returned to shore. Tait was strong where Soini was weak. He would keep him safe so he would never be found and hurt again. Soini believed that, and it allowed him to relax again at least a little.

Riddles in the Dark
Username: Wasteland Wyvern Who are you entering with? Leilani Link to the RP you're using: N/A Prompt response: Leilani sighed as she milled about the darkened forest. Unable to sleep the tiny alicorn had decided a walk was in order and so she walked, deep into the woods thinking about her children and how badly they'd turned out. Though considering their father it wasn't exactly unexpected... How unfair it was for her to have been captured by the walker Tsaheylu but worst of all was that she'd come out from the encounter pregnant and badly wounded bodily as well as mentally... Quickly she shook her head trying to dispel the memories... Ah how she'd love to be able forget her entire life much like Blight's son Skaalbjorn. If only such things were so easy. As she walked she looked to the sky and the stars, pondering at literally nothing, just idle musings to quiet her troubled mind when she first heard the sounds. Initially she mistook the soft noises for the wind whispering through the trees but when she turned her ears to truly listen she heard it fully, the sound of a whisper soft voice that somehow set all her feathers bristling. Something in the voice rang back to her as irrevocably evil. Now her fur stood on end as well as her feathers bristling. The voice sounded as silky sweet and yet horribly wrong as Tsaheylu's had. She stepped forward carefully and came across an awful sight. The body of a stallion lay on his side his breathing ragged and obviously pained and over him stood a monster. A walker like and unlike Tsaheylu. Her light and dark brown coloring was very cat like with its spots but her paws gave her away as more. 'A purewalker...' She thought. She watched the flame eyed mare as she whispered cruel things to the horribly wounded stallion and then the purewalker turned and fled into the night leaving her victim behind. Leilani waited for a full ten minutes, listening to the pained moaning of the wounded stallion and still the walker did not return. She waited a few minutes more before she gently trod out and looked at the victim. A stallion of greys with a tail like a cat lay before her, badly wounded, one eye closed and bloodied. Taking charge, now that she was mostly sure the danger was gone she gathered up a large bough of a pine branch and biting onto the stallion's ankle she drug him as gently as she could upon it, then biting onto the branch started moving him out of the clearing. He left a small pool of blood behind him and she couldn't help but wince. If she didn't act soon he'd be dead. Finally she reached her cavern and pulled him inside, he winced and moaned and tried to open his ruined eye to find who was moving him, but his good eye rolled up into his head and he fell unconscious. She hummed in worry pulling him into her bedroom, onto the rushes she slept on and started to work on his shallower wounds, using a foul smelling but powerful poultice she smeared it onto his wounds, the pressed a large leaf to it to seal the poultice to the wound, hoping it would be enough. She could use her Unicorn magic, as weak as it was through her mixed blood, to stop the flow, but the eye couldn't be saved. The walker's claws had bitten deep. So stop the blood flow she did, and seal his wounds with her concoctions, then she watched him day and night, making him eat and drink as much as he could stomach. Eventually he started to rouse and asked her a few questions, like where he was, and who was she. Gently she answered, "My name is Leilani and you are safe for now..." He asked where they were and she answered, "My home. Do not worry so you will be fine. Sadly I couldn't save your eye but the rest should heal with minimal scarring." He looked at her with sad eyes and said, "I don't remember any of this..." She knew he wouldn't. While she was working on him his breath smelled foul, of human spirits. She didn't call him on it though. Everyone had their demons and everyone did what they had to when silencing them. "Please rest now. You can ask more later, but first some food and water." Carefully she fed him and gave him water and then he slept. Through the days she and the stallion who came to be known as Ser Regulus became fast friends, and one day he departed as healed as he could be but with the promise to return and visit soon. And with that Leilani sighed and mourned his absence already. For caring for him was the only thing that kept her own demons at bay...

Riddles in the Dark
Username: Pandora Talie Who are you entering with? Zak Link to the RP you're using: n/a Prompt response:
The air is warm and sky is clear and blue. It is a typical day, for Zak. Wings buzzing, the green flutter flies low, zipping over craggy rocks and between mossy gnarled trees. He’s always enjoyed tempting fate, slipping through tight spots and barely skimming the surface.
Just the day before, he heard the most interesting story. It was a tale of magical treasure. Hidden deep underground, it was said to have belonged to a rat pirate king. Many have tried to find it, but those that occasionally survive to tell the tale always return empty handed.
Zak arrives at the burned woods. A significant forest fire tore through this place years ago. Bleached and charred sticks protrude, awkwardly, from the ground. The stallion stops at a large weathered stump to get his bearings. He shift his small brown messenger bag down and produces a rolled scrap of yellowed parchment. “Hmm…” He scratches his head. It’s a good thing that the map is light on words. Despite his bravado, he has several weaknesses that he refuses to acknowledge. Paramount of them today is his inability to read anything.
In any event, he studies the graphics and symbols for a moment before stowing the map away. Zak takes to the sky, once more. He finds the landmarks without much effort: a shoe shaped pond here, wierd hill that kind of looks like an arrowhead there. Flying is kind of cheating when you’re playing this game.
The flutter lands at a pair of crossed trees. A cracked rock behind bears a distinct resemblance to a two-leg’s skull. And there it was, a smallish hole, a big enough to be a cave if you were a rat he figures. Zak shrugs. He shrinks down to the size of a rat and steps inside. Its cool and slightly damp, in the hole. Overall, it’s not that bad, he thinks.
Contrary to normal, the now tiny stallion plods along through the tunnel. His eyes are slow to adjust to the low light conditions and the further he goes the less he can see. It’s all black now. Zak stumbles ahead for another couple minutes. “Ow!” After tripping over another root, he’s ready to throw in the towel when... he sees something ahead.
A dim light flickers in the distance. Slowly, cautiously, one might say, he approaches. If you asked he’d probably claim to be just warming up, or something. The narrow tunnel opens to a larger chamber lit by a small fire. The flutter’s heart skips a beat. Before him sleeps a monster of a snake. In Zak’s shrunken state, the creature towers over him, its coiled body fills the whole room. The flutter’s jaw drops and he almost makes a noise when he hears another. “Shhhhh…” Suspended in a small cage is a little cream colored mouse. She beckons him to come closer. By whatever turn of fate, the furry little critter seems to have found itself in a bit of a bind. She gestures at her cage door. It’s latched from the outside, just out of reach of her dexterous little hands. No problem, Zak nods with a grin. He zips up and springs her.
The old snake stirs in his slumber, but the commotion doesn’t wake him. He merely rolls and yawn, returning to sleep. They waste no time making their way back out of the tunnel.
Once clear, Zak tells the mouse, “Going to have to come back later to look for that treasure, I suppose.” He smirks.
