A place of worship reduced to rubble and decay, though still offers respite from those seeking shelter from the unrelenting eyes of the unholiest of denizens. Though one can only hide for so long in a world of hell.

The city life was hustling and bustling all around Jasper as he made his way through the city. It was his first time being this way but he had gotten himself lost. Before he knew it he was at an old looking cathedral that had been forgotten by time. Pulling on his bag strap he made his way inside the decaying building. "Hello?" he asked softly his voice vibrating off of the walls. Silence surrounded him in response. Letting a sigh of relief passing through his lips. Cobwebs, dusting sticking to him as he made his way deeper into the building. Taking his bag off he places it down next to a pillar slowly allowing himself to sit on the ground.

Leaning up against the pillar Jasper couldn't help but feel somewhat content. In area where all they did was go and go from morning to night was a place that he could relax in for a little bit. "Rรฎn athar annรบn-aearath, O Queen beyond the Western Seas! Calad ammen i reniar O Light to us that wander there Mi 'aladhremmin ennorath! Amid the world of woven trees!
A Elbereth Gilthoniel Gilthoniel! O Elbereth!I chรฎn a thรปl lin mรญriel Clear are thy eyes and bright is breath. . . " Jasper sings his voice going into an almost whisper. His eyelids shutting as he dozed off to sleep for a bit.

Voices off in the distant caught Jasper ears awaking him from his slumber. Standing up slowly he stretch out his tired body and grabbed at his bag, slinging it over his shoulder. Within minutes he was off to the nearest woods.

This particular exit to the Underground put Cade and the boy close to a crumbling, though still beautiful, structure. Cade had never been a particular faith-driven man when he was alive, and that was still true, but he could certainly admire the beauty of many religious trappings.

He could also admire how deserted the structure appeared to be, and how well-hidden from the Main Streets. While not particularly zealous, he did have enough sense to wonder if the structure would effectively keep out demons.

It was little trouble to continue carrying the boy--or it would have been if not for the clacking teeth and the movements the boy was now making. He moved inside the pretty ruin, looking for a good place to put the other down and see what was in the pack heโ€™d grabbed. The space was almost entirely open, at least in this main area, and Cade settled on a corner at the top left, near where the altar probably would have been.

He tried to be careful, but admittedly he was somewhat more focused on keeping his remaining arm out of the way as he set the bound boy against the wall, trying to prop him in a relatively comfortable position.

โ€Looks like weโ€™re not being followed. Lucky, huh?โ€ He was talking to the boy in as soothing a voice as he could muster. For some normal creatures, the deep tone of it was soothing on its own, but he didnโ€™t necessarily expect that to mean anything here, especially considering their short history.

โ€Letโ€™s see if thereโ€™s anything here to improve our situation, hm?โ€ He continued a steady flow of mild chatter as he opened the pack, identifying the items out loud by name: canteen full of water, flint, what looked like a simple bundle of kindling, thin, silvery blanket that crunched as he moved it; a small pot; jerky old enough that it wasnโ€™t that distinguishable from the kindling, at least by feel, and a larger bag of a somewhat moldy mixture of grains.

He set them all out so the boy could see too, deciding if it was too risky to attempt to make some sort of fire. There was wood in the cathedral, splintered or barely hanging on in what must have once been a set of confessionals. He didnโ€™t really need to eat, but the boy probably did.

The one-armed male seemed to hold him with relative ease despite his weak thrashing. He didnโ€™t have the energy to keep it up by any means, instead choosing to growl and let out small shrieks to voice his displeasure in the situation and the carry he was held in. He saw only parts of his surroundings- it was cool here, and dark. The air smelled slightly musty. Broken. He turned his head to see crumbled rows of benches, or what used to be such perhaps long ago, and tall grottos- empty. What sort of place had this been? Why did One-Arm come here of all places? Of course, it would seem the man of fire would be gone, and an eerie quiet rested on the layers of dust that coated the old building.

Finally he was set down when One-Arm had picked out what seemed to be a safe location for rest. The larger male smelled of rot, of decay- but he knew a good portion of that simply wasnโ€™t his current travel companion. Baring his sharp fangs in a -albeit blasรฉ- threat, eyes watched the other maleโ€™s actions minutely. Every twitch of muscle, every deliberate action was taken in. One-Arm had yet to hurt him outright, but the scavenger didnโ€™t wish to run such a risk when he still found his limbs bound. A low, constant bubbling snarl erupted from the scavengerโ€™s chest, though it quieted faintly as One-Arm began to speak in a low, calm tone, taking out the contents and naming each one as he produced it. The growling stopped completely at the sight of the nearly petrified meat. It was food, along with moldy grains, and was better than needing to fall into a deep sleep again to preserve energy.

โ€œMeeatโ€ฆ.โ€ he growled out, eyes locked on the bit of sustenance produced. With a groan he attempted to writhe free of his bindings, going as far as attempting to bend himself in some unnatural angle in order to bite at the ropes. He needed food, and while he doubted his companion would sacrifice himself for his hunger, Hyena would take what he could. He just needed to convey what his wants were in an unfamiliar and confusing manner.

The boyโ€™s feral growling and snapping slowed then
stopped as he continued, and Cade smiled slightly to himself, pleased. Okay. His first thought was that he could treat the boy somewhat like a wild dogโ€”liable to fear aggression and territoriality, absolutely dangerous (there was no real comparison here with a dog; not with those teeth), but responds well to calm energy, and especially food.

This easy, simplifying thought was immediately challenged by the boyโ€™s growling wordโ€”โ€˜Meatโ€™โ€”and thenโ€ฆwell, not his name, but it was well enough for now. Far better than being identified as โ€˜meatโ€™ or โ€˜foodโ€™ himself.

The boyโ€™s attempts were mildly alarming; he would surely be able to bite through the ropes soon with teeth like that, giving him mere moments to decide on a course of action.

This was yet another moment that would have been exponentially easier with two arms. He wouldnโ€™t have had to be so worried about being overpowered, damaged because he hadnโ€™t established himself as anyone to trust yet, or because the boy was clearly malnourished and starving (he had beenโ€ฆso light on his back, he thought now).

He decided to continue with his preparations anyway, with an eye to the snapping boy as he did. Heโ€™d managed to stack the wood heโ€™d taken correctly, arranging half of the kindling, and struck the flint to start a fire.

Still calmly explaining what he was doing, he took the small pot, poured much of the grain into it, as well as most of the jerky. He poured in enough water to just cover the grain and set it close to the fire, nearly on top of it. This would have been much more effective if heโ€™d had some way to suspend the pot, but he didnโ€™t have time to go searching for a way to make it. It wouldnโ€™t necessarily taste any good, but at least the warmth and water would soften the jerky, soften the grain, to be more edible.

As a last ditch effort to protect himself, just in case, he lay a piece of the dry, inedible jerky on the blanket, scooting it in the boyโ€™s direction.

โ€Itโ€™ll taste horrible, probably stick in your throat. But go for it, kid.โ€

His attention wavered between his companion and the food being soaked in water. Why the other was doing that, Hyena could only guess. Food was food, no need to soak it or dress it up. He shifted anxiously in anticipation of the food, managing to gnaw part of the rope that bound him to free a lank arm. He needed sustenance, and he needed it now.

A sharp noise, a flash of claw-like fingers, and the kindling-dry meat of unknown origin was snatched away quickly and brought to the silvery maw of the scavenger male. Despite the dry, nearly petrified texture of the jerky the male managed to snap and bite through it with ease. He didnโ€™t chew too thoroughly it would seem, however, the voracious pace at which he ate made it a wonder he didnโ€™t choke as he snarled and growled through what could have been considered a โ€˜mealโ€™. His interest in Cade for the moment- and his desire to eat him or even to escape the rest of his binds- were neglected for the time being in favor of just eating, drooling and gnawing his meal with violent intensity.

He was perhaps just about through with his food when golden eyes snapped towards the corpse-pale companion, as if suddenly remembering his presence. Another low growl, but he pulled a piece of meat from near his mouth to hold out towards the one-armed male with an extended, stiff arm in an attempt to keep as much distance between them.

โ€œFoood?โ€ he rasped out wearily.

Cade left the nearly inedible mass to a place where it would merely be disgusting, turning away from the stabilizing fire to watch the no longer bound boy more carefully.

He found himself still, generally, thinking of the other in terms of a kind of animal--a creature, rather. A particularly intelligent creature, but still closer to a dog or a monkey than another person.

Again, as if fighting against this prejudice, the boy broke this easy, if subconscious, categorization apart. He would never have guessed, starving as he obviously was, that the boy would offer him anything of the finite resource.

He didnโ€™t need to eat, really; sometimes, it helped him heal, at least along his torso. Sometimes it gave him more energy, revitalized him. But sometimes it didnโ€™t, and he ended up throwing whatever heโ€™d eaten up hours later, his organs apparently non-or-barely functional in his undead state. Never did it seem entirely necessary to simply functioning out in the world.

But no one, surely, could have said no to the boyโ€™s hesitant offer. Not naive enough to be unaware of the possibility that it was a setup to an attack (he was, after all, quite a bit more meat than the jerky leftover from the pot, and those impressive metal teeth had tried to tear into him more than once in the past hour), he carefully moved closer. Rocked back on one heel, ready to pull away,

Reaching forward, he delicately took the piece of inedible jerky.

โ€Thank youโ€ he acknowledged, bringing it to his mouth. That seemed the right thing to do.

He was afraid to relax too much. No one had watched them leave, but before that moment, it had seemed that whomever that firey person was was pretty focused on whoever this was. Cade didnโ€™t know anything about him, but his erstwhile โ€˜allyโ€™ had been interested in him too. He must be pretty special.

Cade didnโ€™t know anything about that, but he did want to get his hands on another arm, something to replace the useless appendage he hadnโ€™t fully gotten to adhere to himself.

He brought the jerky to his mouth, gnawing at a corner of it. Itโ€™d be rude not to.

The young scavenger watched his companion carefully, withdrawing his arm ince the offering had been accepted from him. Eagerly he watched, letting out small, chittering noises with repeated clicking of his teeth and a noise from his throat. The noises made did not seem to convey a negative emotion, his body language terse but far from hostile. Seeing his one-armed companion eat, however, led the scavenger to let out a louder, laughing sort of noise, squirming eagerly in what could only best be described as unfocused happiness. The offering had been accepted, his companion would eat and- therefore- survive.

โ€œGood! Fuud! Eet! Yes!โ€ he cheered, nearly vibrating excitedly. Now they had eaten, now they needed to figure out their next move. Whatever had happened to Aidyn, or the scrawny prey, or the beast o fire, Hyena couldnโ€™t think of their fates- but now in a safer location with some food in his stomach it felt easier to fight if needed. For now, however, he seemed too excited to make any sort of plans.

โ€œWun Arrhm...โ€ he huffed out, smiling to reveal the glint of metal fangs. He reached over to give the more solid figure a sharp push to the shoulder, leaning back quickly as if to expect retaliation from the move. Chittering, another push, wild laughter barks. Whatever game he was playing it wasnโ€™t clear what he rules were, or what Cade was supposed to do in turn, but Hyena seemed to enjoy himself now he had a belly full of meat and shelter.

Cade tried to watch the boy without being seen to be watching him, since staring was often read as openly hostile (at least among a lot of beasts, including the mutated doglike creatures his family had kept as part of their โ€˜nobilityโ€™). The sounds the boy was making were foreign enough to his experiences with people to raise hairs on the back of his neck, mildly disturbed, but he tried to mentally translate them to something foreign he wouldnโ€™t have found as frightening--a big catโ€™s purr, maybe.

The happiness was easier to read, and he felt himself relaxing, reacting with a laugh of his own just at the purity of it. He took a bigger bite of the jerky, nearly wrenching a tooth out as the stuff refused to yield to his teeth. Disgusting, but that was fine.

Surreptitiously, he tried to turn his head to spit a bit of it out, moving back over to the slowly warmining pot to poke at it with the jerky. Hard as it was, it basically performed the function of a stick or spoonโ€ฆ

The following words were all entirely understandable, and--bigoted as it might have been--the sum total of them reoriented his understanding of the boy enough that he stopped internally comparing him to a wolf or monkey. Or even a cat. For now, anyway.

Still close enough, he was surprised by the first push, if only because it almost pushed him into the growing fire (happily, the pieces from the church werenโ€™t wet, and seemed to be burning well). Once heโ€™d righted himself, he felt flashbacks to his time as a page, under his familyโ€™s training, and snorted out an indelicate laugh. Most of the people heโ€™d wrestled with back then, mere decades after the Storm, were dead now--from the war that had in fact killed him.

              But that didnโ€™t matter.

For a moment, he felt like a teenager again (though he couldnโ€™t, of course, be sure that what he was thinking of and the otherโ€™s intentions were in any way similar), and after failing to dodge the second push he pushed back, carefully aiming for lower than usual. He still wanted to be safely away from those teeth.

Needle raised his eyebrows at Soxโ€™s childish moment of cruelty, but made no move to intervene. A little more jostling wouldnโ€™t permanently injure the pit dog, even in this state; and truthfully, he had a bit of resentment building up fast too at the barest possibility that, after all this work, Hyena might still get away.

But that was tomorrow. Looking to make sure the two were secured, He hopped up in front of them.

โ€Donโ€™t fallโ€ he advised Sox, and peeled out through the streets. Small vehicles like his werenโ€™t unheard of, and people cursed or dove out of his way with fear in their eyes but no particular surprise. He leaned far into a couple of turns just for the fun of it, feeling much more himself while the bike was in motion, roaring its approval at him.

Too short of a ride later, Needle slowed the bike to peer at the large, seemingly uninhabited structure heโ€™d been about to pass. It was almost suspiciously convenient; pretty too, in a fussy sort of way. Beyond this, a little more, and theyโ€™d start to run into the very edges of Slaughtered Lambs territory, past the vague no-manโ€™s land between the city and the beginning of land liable to be full of patrolling Lambs.

He turned in, running the bike over uneven ground, running it at a crawl up and into the building.

โ€โ€ฆHome for the night, gentsโ€ he murmured, thinking forward to the morning, to how he should secure the place to keep Hyena secured for the night. Heโ€™d do as he should. Heโ€™d see Hyena healed as much as possible (given Soxโ€™s cooperation), even feed and water the b*****d.

โ€˜One nightโ€™ he reminded himself, as the absurdity of it caught up to him.

โ€Donโ€™t make me forget Iโ€™m being merciful, Hyenaโ€ฆโ€ A look toward Sox as the thing came totally to a stop, over his shoulder as he dismounted, carefully holding the bike upright.

Sox. It was, in some ways, weird that the spider man was as okay with the disruption to his life as he had been. It was probablyโ€ฆgood, or important, for him to make sure the creature was sated, that he would be as expected until Needle brought him captive into the Slaughtered Lambsโ€™ territory. Needle was a certain kind of expert in making lackeys feel privileged to work under him, but he was almost entirelyโ€”lacking, in the usual rough benefits he would have offered. Not only wasnโ€™t he holding anything anymore (s**t. This hadnโ€™t occurred to him until now. A whole night sober, or sober-ishโ€ฆ), he didnโ€™t have any of the other extremely minor luxuries he usually could have tossed out to make his โ€˜boysโ€™ feel like they were getting a good deal out of sacrificing themselves for him.

Until now, it had just seemed like the spider man worked as well on a couple generic compliments, but there was no guarantee that would continue. He should probablyโ€”try? Give some real incentive; so he didnโ€™t wake up dead, or worse.

โ€โ€ฆheyโ€ he murmured, smile an attempt at encouraging.

โ€Youโ€™ve been real chill about all of this. You should be rewarded, or something. What do you even like?โ€ He wasnโ€™t about to offer his a**, but he could offer a lot of other things. If the man wanted a**, there was always Hyena.

He would be shown some mercy- but for how long? His consciousness was fleeting, barely registering anything beyond the world moving around him, or hitting the ground hard momentarily, knocking him out for a moment or two. He groaned out nonsense, hoping to form words that would be recognizable to either of the men that held him captive. Alas but to no avail it seemed, only able to warble out growls and whines like a beaten animal. He wanted nothing more than a fresh kill meal and some sleep- even in the cramped confines of his cage habitat in the fighting pits he had grown up in would be a comfort. Surrounded by several layers of rusted and gnawed on chain link and bars, half-shaded with dingy rags and tarps acting as a roof over more barbed wire to keep him in, even his familiar captivity would be more of a comfort than this.

He held back a wash of tears that heated his eyes, not wanting to waste precious fluids by a moment of weakness. God he was tired, in pain, hungry- he wanted to hide away from these men and lick his wounds in peace.

As he was warned not to fall, the bike jerked into action and his heart fell behind when they sped out of the area. Sox gripped Needle's body tightly with shocked wind swept eyes and stayed tense through the whole ride.

Arriving at the new place, Sox hopped off the odd contraption and slight dizziness waved over him in a hint of travel sickness since he wasn't used to moving not by his own legs. He rubbed his face in his palms then peeked at Needle who was looking at him. He was asked a question he didn't expect and Sox cocked his head then snapped it to the other side in thought. What does Sox like?

His first thought was Needle, his sweet love-doll but then he got to wondering more about his 'likes'. His eyes locked onto his backpack behind him then back over at the rough four-armed man. Sox approached him and leaned into his personal space with a stoic face, his many black eyes staring directly at Needle then he parted his plump lips, baring his baby fangs and said "I like you." he slowly moved his hands to press against Needle's chest and rubbed slightly "Needle's touch rewards Sox." he smushed his cheek against the man's chest and near purred on it, happy to have him to himself. He started to remember all the interesting mating moves he had witnessed and he wanted to try some- though he forgot which animal he saw do this.

He pulled back slightly to look up and smiled "Touch me." his voice was soft but his expression could easily be read as threatening by most.

โ€Whoops!โ€ Sox hopped off immediately, and Hyena would have gone with him without the benefit of Needleโ€™s arm steadying him. There was a slack, a give to the pit dog that was both relieving--meaning that Needle wouldnโ€™t need to attend to him--and worrying. He kicked the thick bit of welded metal down that kept the bike upright, wrapping his other arm around the pit dog to drag him off the bike and to the ground.

He was still holding Hyena, thinking of hauling him forward, when Sox came up to him. He straightened, Hyena crumpled at their feet. Nostrils flared at Soxโ€™s suggestive touch, expression somewhere between incredulous and receptive. The spider manโ€™s posture implied what was wanted was less his a** than other assets. He could do that. Truthfully, he could use a bit of stress relief after the day heโ€™d had, something warm to c** into. If that could count as a virtuous act, all the better.

He was smiling when Sox looked back up at him from his chest, and his expression froze somewhere between shock and satisfaction. There was no way to read the expression except as a threat, and Needleโ€™s body protested at the idea of rallying for yet another fight.

Whatever else, Sox so close to his stomach was too much, and he jerked away to focus on Hyena, all four arms coming around to drag the pit dog forward, conveniently pulling him out of the spider manโ€™s grasp.

โ€Yeahโ€ฆyou got it, man, of course. Letโ€™s get Hyena settled, secure. Whatever you want.โ€ โ€˜Whatever he wantedโ€™ as long as Needle could feel safe, naturally.

His mind was little more than crackled radio static, a few blips of words and thoughts discernible to himself and reminding him of the danger he was in. He needed to escape, he needed to seek a way out and a place to hide in the city where he wouldnโ€™t be found so easily. The Underground tunnels had been so perfect, there was no reasonable way why he was found other than by pure misfortune on his behalf. He felt himself being jostled a bit, waking him slightly from his blood loss-induced haze to understand where he was. A large, tall building with strange glass covering the exits higher on the walls, broken pews and altars suggested some kind of ritual site, though the only scent of blood he could pick up was that of his own and of Needleโ€™s. Thatโ€™s right- his main captor was injured as well. It would make escape from him easier.

If not, of course, for the arachnoid male that had his lustful sights on the mercenary.

Perhaps such a distraction could still benefit him- if the two were busy engaged in some manner of coitus there was a slim chance for escape. Already Hyena began to tug at his bindings weakly, as discreetly as possible. He figured if he made too much disturbance or his actions obvious it would grant him injury and tighter bonds. Little by little he worked. He gave a whimpering growl, trying to lift his head up from the dusty ground to try and see his surroundings better, and try to spot an exit he could exploit.
