The conversation between the... creepy man and the other two continued shortly then came to an end. They seemed to be talking about something important. Possibly forging an alliance or what-not. Auri took note of these people, hoping he wouldn't have to encounter them again. The dragon, who called him out, seemingly lost all interest in Auri soon after calling him out. The half-demon was a bit confused by this, but decided that this may be luck in his favor. The dragon and his friend left, and Auri was left with an unanswered question. Maybe this is God giving him a chance to just leave. Curiosity though was causing Auri to stay. The demon had... a sense of arrogance about him. It was a charming arrogance to say the least.

Auri didn't back up when the demon approached him, but he did shift one foot ever so slightly behind in response. He was quite... uncomfortably close. Auri felt a tad intimidated, but felt his heart almost beating in his direction. Auri shook the feeling off, and stood his ground. He wasn't going to let another demon talk down to him like this. Auri looked up to speak to him, only to find himself blushing a little. He's certainly.... attractive. Even if he is kind of a d*ck. Auri brushed his thoughts about him aside and started to speak. "My... carelessness and complacency in what I say is due to sh*t like this actually doesn't get me killed. I've been around for quite some time; no one is going to kill me any time soon. I do... appreciate, your concern though." Auri sighed. Is this demon actually concerned for a half-breed like him? Auri felt as if this demon's plan was to just mess with him.

Auri stood where he was, continuing to look up at him. He's researched on a plethora of demons, but telling them apart wasn't always a dead giveaway. He didn't know what kind of demon this one was, and particularly wasn't in a rush to find out. Auri did wonder what his intentions were with this... confrontation. Auri liked to hope it was out of concern for him, but he doubted it. He also wasn't going to trust someone so easily, especially a demon; and god-knows-what his friend is. "I'm hungry and tired; and you're a bit too close for comfort. I don't come to the city often, or ever, in that matter. If you can't point me in the right direction then I- I'll just continue searching." Auri didn't know why his voice shook at the end there. He wasn't scared, but he had this odd nervous tension swell inside him. Now he just wanted to leave; this demon and his friend were making Auri a bit uneasy

                      xxxx THE S E E D T H A T G E R M I N A T E S T H E W O R L D x

Siere watched the dragon’s departure silently, carefully, keeping an eye (or two—another broke open on the back of his neck as he turned toward Dante more entirely, this and one on the top of his shoulder) focused on the raider leader.

Though the leader hadn’t left yet, he relaxed marginally, hair tucking down around his body, acting more like hair rather than a living thing of its own. Extra parts winked out on top of and under his clothing where they couldn’t have been seen: Mouths grinding unseen teeth, faces forming and unforming along his stomach and back. Most of that went away, now, limbs and hands overlong but basically the right shape, the usual number of noses and mouths and eyes (excepting the two on the raider leader, as well as one more that was searching, still, for the drow he’d noticed before. He had no particular reason to do so, but the appearance of one had been striking. He was always more interested the less human a creature appeared, and the drow’s markings had been a balm.)

Mostly, now, Siere wanted to finish up here, show Dante what he’d wanted to show, and return to camp to prepare—both oversee preparations for the upcoming raid and convergence with Dante’s raiders, and to do the little he’d do to make the Moit camp ready to receive the Raider leader and companion later that day. There wouldn’t be much to do. The moit camp looked as it did, and it wasn’t in Siere’s nature to want to beautify it. He –would- ensure that there were adequate members of the Moit around—ones large enough to go head to head with a dragon, if it came to that. He wouldn’t be as kind as he’d been before if he were threatened in his own territory, with the Moit going about their domestic business around him.

Siere’s sense of humor was sporadic and odd, but he found himself laughing at the incubus’s snarky assessment of the departing raiders.

”Spooky” he repeated, that same thing clicking in his throat in what Dante might eventually recognize as the aftereffect of a –real- expression of emotion from him.

His face returned to seriousness at Dante’s addendum—he wanted to be there. Siere realized he’d already assumed the incubus would be coming. Whatever else this encounter had done, it had apparently formed something of a bond between them. There was, however tentatively, something of a ‘we.’ We, two raider clan leaders engaged in something together. We who are friendly.

                      ”Of course” he replied simply.

”You are welcome to sleep safely on Moit ground—or I can have someone escort you away afterward.” He left it at that.

He noticed the lines of blood on the incubus’s neck only when Dante was moving toward the small figure. There was the usual rush of alarm, of the same sort that had swept him up earlier when he’d thought his maw would pierce the incubus’s cheek. Accompanying that rush of concern, however, he felt a newer curiosity. The incubus hadn’t been concerned, before by the idea of ‘a little damage.’ Siere had only minimal experience with demons, and their relation to their own physical bodies. Perhaps they did not care about them the way most creatures did?

Beyond these both, he was interested in his own unconscious reaction, the way he’d apparently sought Dante’s flesh in his own anger, either in comfort or…what?

He gave himself a moment to think on it as Dante approached one of the watchers from their impromptu ‘meeting.’ He didn’t interrupt.

It's been six days since I've had my fix
And now I'm fixed on you
Despite your trembling body

There was something amusing about the way Siere copied his little remark in an unusual moment of emotional expression that the incubus would fail to fully understand. He could only understand it as something differing from the norm. Similar perhaps to those moments when the other had expressed something that resembled fear, of harming or the strange foreign feelings born from their less than business like interactions.

It was interesting, yet it didn’t last long. Not while Dante had focuses now on the more pressing matters that lay before them.

“I don’t mind having a little sleep over.” He replied. It was questionable what his intentions would be behind that statement. He held back that part of his own emotion unlike in his previous flirtatious remarks, but it didn’t mean he didn’t mean it in that sense. He’d leave it at that for the sake of addressing the young male who hadn’t left.

This small horned male was an interesting sort. One that held his own in the face of a demon who had less than friendly intentions behind his voice.

“Hah, you seriously think I’m concerned what’ll come of you pipsqueak?” Dante laughed and a hand came up to rub the arching marks on his neck. “I have better s**t to worry about.”

It was a harsh truth. There was no special aspect that would cause the demon to see value in the boy, other than using him as a toy. Additionally, there was no reason why he should even trust a boy that had so simply spoke of infiltrating a master’s territory/home for information, despite how tempting that idea sounded. As far as he was concerned, the boy was potentially dangerous.

“Heh. Who says being close isn’t gonna give you something to eat~?” Dante asked in a terrible tone giving into his own temptations. His hand left his neck and grabbed for the boys shoulder in an attempt to shove him down. At this point the light marks on his neck had visibly faded and healed, only leaving the little drips of drying blood.

He was about to call out to Siere about something along the lines of food… but something stopped him. It could have been the knowing that the scouting endeavor had suffered enough wasted time and that he wanted to keep his companion happy. Or more troublesome, it could have been the reminder of the thoughts of what could have been and what could still potentially be. Something ordinary didn't feel interesting right now. Either way it was frustrating to the demon and it showed when he’d move to instead shove the horned male and made a haughty walk back to ******** it.” He growled in a strangely irritated tone, and when he reached his friend he added, “We’re leaving Siere. The kids too weak to be worth anything.”

Siere allowed some time for the little non-human to reply, but it was clear that the creature had been intimidated into silence, or perhaps seduced into it. Part of Siere couldn’t blame the poor thing; while Siere had been on the receiving side of some of Dante’s charms, the aggression the incubus had pointed at him hadn’t been quite so…predatory? Was that the word?

Privately, he admitted he wasn’t sure how he would have reacted, if Dante had turned that sort of energy on him. There was something not entirely stable about it; he could relate to that, if not to the sudden, irritated energy that surrounded the incubus. For his own part, much of his irritation had faded at the other raiders’ exit.

And so he was happy enough to follow in Dante’s wake. They had wasted much of the time Siere had allowed for their survey through the city. They would have to hurry, now, to remain on anything like schedule. Already, even meeting with the other raider leader would push Siere’s anticipated start date.

He paused long enough to glance curiously over his shoulder at the horned non-human as they left, feeling slightly sorry for it. It hadn’t done anything wrong, really; perhaps, it could even have been helpful, someone Siere would have been happy to help.

But there was just so little time.

”Come; there were several points in the City Center I wanted you to be aware of.”

In truth Dante had lied about the boy. He hadn't a clue what kind of demon like creature they were or what powers they might hold. He was simply at the point of not caring due to his own personal frustrations.

He could hear the sense of haste in the other voice before they began their trek towards their original goal. It was understandable after so much time had been needlessly wasted.

"Don't worry, we'll get to em' all." He said and there was no clear emotion in his voice in that moment. It was him trying to ignore the annoying conflict that he'd allowed to slip back into his mind. He half hoped if Siere noticed his previous emotional outburst that he would have figured the incubus had just been frustrated by their lack of time. Nevertheless, he now followed Siere to that dangerous area at the center of the city.

Auri had little to no knowledge of the specifics of each raider clan, especially of ones he doesn't interact with. He would ignore the invitation for an escort; tis not something Auri would accept from a stranger. A slight blush arose from Auri's cheeks on the demon's comment of a sleepover. His voice was taunting, yet alluring in a way. The small half-demon did not enjoy the feelings that arose from hearing the red demon speak.

Auri rolled his eyes at the demon once called a pipsqueak; not the first time Auri has been insulted for his size. Not many live after such a remark, but engaging in a fight in this situation would not bode well for the half-demon. His next remark though was something Auri was not prepared for; his face turned into a deeper shade of rose, finding himself at a loss a words. Before he could say anything, he found himself shoved and knocked onto the ground. Even if Auri is a demon, he is still small and fragile. It's not often someone is able to touch him. He let his guard down, to a rude and mocking demon of all people. Auri didn't know if there was anything at play here, and he was inclined to find out if there was. Sitting up, Auri looked back at the red demon with contempt. "D*ck..." Auri whispered to himself. Auri certainly also didn't like to be called weak. He started to feel the heat of his power under his skin, ready to conjure flames in a moment of anger. However, Auri knew that acting on impulsive anger will get him no where. After the strange creature and rude demon started to make their way, Auri decided to tail them, and try to figure out what they were up to. He was... interested in them, to say the least. Especially that rude demon.

                                                                                    Kitty_Mew

As he was walking Paytah felt the familiar rumble as Ikkan followed and kept going, not even fazed by it. However what he didn't expect was the flick of Ikkan's tail which sent him flying into some rubble nearby which caused his anger with the dragon to sky rocket. It was s**t like this that made him wonder why he even kept the overgrown lizard in his ranks, the damned b*****d was really getting on his nerves. However he was soon yanked from his anger filled thoughts by the worried whine of his liger companion and gentle nudge of its nose in his side. He sighed and gave the liger a gentle pat, wincing at the movement. The landing from his impromptu flight was one that had done some heavy damage to him, probably even broken a few bones which wasn't exactly good. However he thankfully had a much higher healing rate than most do to his race, one he often kept to himself since it was such a rare sight these days. At that thought he sighed and stood up with the help of Skah, wincing once more as pain shot through his whole body which only served to relight his anger. "That damned lizard is going to pay for his actions from today the minute he sets foot on our grounds, I'm not happy with his a** in the slightest. For now Skah I'm gonna have to ask for a favor since I can't move much, get me back to our lands on your back alright," Paytah said as he leaned against his furry companion and then sighed. At his last words the liger gave a nod of understanding and Paytah climbed on its back, tangling his fingers into its fur as it took off for the southern lands.

As the two walked out of the camp, Kaeden, despite acting cynical, actually quite enjoyed the company of the Kitsune. It was a lot less boring of a trip with an ally. Kaeden couldn’t help but worry ever so slightly for their safety, since he was used to heading out on his own and sticking to the sidelines. Hopefully, their combined martial prowess would be enough to at least escape from any untoward encounters.

Part of Kaeden hoped he wouldn’t be answering questions the whole time however, that could get annoying. For now, he answered, “I go out a few times a month really, though, getting supplies usually isn’t a problem since we have our own farm. You may have seen it back at the base, but maybe not since we were only there a moment.” The two walked along the barrens, excited for their day trip into the city.

There was a strange air over the place, as if something had just happened. To be safe, Kaeden removed his goggles a moment, the patterns and designs in his eyes expanding and coming out from his eyes as he took a look at their surroundings. He didn’t see anything off, but it was possible there could be people hiding behind walls and such. Quietly, Kaeden replaced his goggles, turning to Akika.
“Seems safe from what I can see, though it’s a bit… quiet for my tastes. Keep alert and such, just to be safe.” Motioning forward, he continued their walk down the street, eyeing a few shop windows as he passed without turning his head, “So, this is the city. It everything you dreamed, kid?”

While he stayed quite calm on the outside, inwardly the kitsune was almost cheering. Going to the city had always been part of his 'have to do' list. Back before he got sealed he had never been there as there was a 'no contact' policy between the tribe and everyone else. Intruders would have been chased away more often than not as the tribe had been fiercely territorial. One of the reasons why only much later they had actually considered mutual trading. Of course Akika was equally as territorial, it was in his blood, but since he had no territory to defend, it wasn't really an issue.

The fire spirit followed quite calmly yet in anticipation of what he was about to see.For a while he was still playing with his fire as they walked and perhaps spoke some, it was also a way for Akika to train with his fire powers without causing to much of danger to his new friend beside him. When they got closer to the city however, Akika stopped doing so since Kaeden did utter concern towards the city before. When they got closer to the city however, the kitsune could soon see that Kaeden had not exaggerated. The once proud city he heard so much about was in ruins and looked deserted.

Akika tilted his head as he twitched an ear, wondering how this could have changed so much. That said it wasn't without it's charm. The ruins themselves that still stood did testify to the lost splendor that once used to house here. It didn't take long for KAeden to act and then speak up though. The fire spirit looked at him and nodded. After all, the other knew more about how the world now was than he did. "That a city as big in name as this could be reduced to such...splinters. That must have been one big event that rendered it to this."

The kitsune answered quite in awe, yet his voice did carry the fact he wasn't disappointed per say. After all this also had it's unique effect. Then he turned to Kaeden and raised an eyebrow on curiosity. "That...thing you did with your eyes. Is that how you noticed me so quickly?" he voiced his concern before he smiled a bit. After all it wasn't a bad meant question, pure curiosity and the act did seem like they tried to notice energy. Much how his people used to scan the forest for potential intruders, yet a little different.

It was certainly easy to see where Akika was coming from; and he was correct in assuming it was a large force that destroyed the city. Where once stood tall proud buildings were frames of their former selves, rubble and destruction. It was hard not for Kaeden to think about what was once there, the lives that lived in every window. Though, it was mainly humans living in this city if he recalled correctly, so he didn’t feel as bad about their loss any more.

Shutting his eyes in thought, he tried to recall the great storm that came and wiped everything out. It was hazy, too hazy to make out many details having been from long ago. That, and Kaeden’s memory wasn’t really very good at recalling past events either. That had always bugged him. He just remembered the lab, breaking out... and then he was in the Barrens. He wouldn't be able to give the best explanation, but he’d try his best.

“You’re right about it being a big event,” He began, still walking through the street, “They called it the Great Storm, which I assume means it was probably storm-like in appearance, but I don’t remember it at all. All that’s known about it is basically rumor and speculation. So there’s no way to really pin down what it was exactly, but it basically killed everyone, and now we’re here. Boom. History lesson over.” Kaeden grinned a bit impishly, stretching his arms over his head.

Kaeden was about to continue walking, when he looked back to Akika asking him of his eyes. It was a normal question to ask, naturally. Though Kaeden himself had little explanation on how exactly it worked. He simply nodded to the Kitsune, and spoke, “Yeah, it’s why I’m so good at my job. On an elevated plane, I can see for practically miles. I can also see every person, as long as they’re not behind a wall or something, and what the person might be. Since you know, everyones’ uhh…” He trailed off, pointing at his chest as he furrowed his brow, “Soul? Or something like that? They’re all different. It’s pretty helpful at times.”

Akika listened as Kaeden gave him a rough explanation of what had happened in the past which had rendered this world so destroyed. The vulpine couldn't remember noticing anything while he was sealed away. But that was kind of the point of a seal after all. To cut what is inside of it from the rest of the world.

In a way it, what was meant as a punishment, ended up possibly being his salvation. Since he wasn't technically in the world when this great storm hit, it had no effect on him. The seal had been his shield. It was still a sad idea that he would never see his people again, but now this whole world lay at his feet for him to explore.

His tribe wouldn't hold him back now either. But as he thought about it, the kitsune could feel doubt creep in as well. He glanced over at his new friend. Akika liked Kaeden. He was friendly, helpful and kind. The fire spirit didn't really want to leave yet. "I haven't noticed anything of this all until today..." he replied, pushing the thought of exploration out of his mind for now.

He wanted to stay with Kaeden and the camp for a while, if he was accepted. Soon enough he was distracted by the other's reply about his eyes as well. "I see, that is very useful for standing on watch! We do notice energy as well, but it's not paired with as good an eye sight as yours." Akika said and smiled a bit. It was impressive that Kaeden could see that far in front of him.

The kitsune walked forward a bit until the first wall ahead of them and looked at it with ears turned forward before they moved half way down and Akika sniffed at the wall. He looked at the ruins before them and placed a hand on the wall near him. Even without knowing what happened, the sensitive spirit could feel the emotional history that was held captive.

Not so much per emotion, that was not Akika's forte, but more the energy itself that resonated. Being a spirit he was mainly energy himself after all. "I wish I could have seen this city before it got destroyed. If only I hadn't been restricted to our territory." the kitsune said and sighed a bit.

It was time to focus on the job at hand though. He was about to ask Kaeden if they had to split up or stick together but then he remembered the rules placed by Kaeden had been clear. Stay near. "Lead the way, let's see if we can salvage something to bring back." Akika said and smiled a bit. He already saw more than he had before, so it was already an adventure and exploration.

It was difficult for Kaeden to think on far back memories. Once he’d had an expansive knowledge of many things, but after coming to Earth, certain events had left him with a spotty memory of the past at best. He tried not to let his somewhat failing memory stop him, but at times, it could be rather annoying, or even distressing. It had been long enough since Kaeden’s memory became hazy, so he’d had time to get used to it, and adapt to it.

Pulled from his thoughts, Kaeden watched as the Kitsune examined the wall before them. He couldn’t help but wonder what exactly Akika was thinking. Could he feel the latent energy there? Was he feeling sentimental of the countless who died here? Whatever it was, it was certainly curious. Kaeden couldn’t say he much cared for the history of this place. If there was one thing he was sure of, it was that this place used to be home to humans; and humans were selfish creatures

It was hard to think of something to say to someone who’s been locked away for who knows how long, and lost everything from it. Kaeden didn’t know the circumstances of whatever village was by the city, nor how Akika related to them and the people who lived here. Nor did he know why Akika would have wanted to see this place.

Finding a pile of rubble to the side, Kaeden set to work digging through it. On the main streets, it was probably very unlikely he’d find anything, given the amount of foot traffic through it, but it never hurt to check. There was always the alleyways to dig through, but that would be later, when they were sure it was safe.

Without turning around, he could see that Akika was staying relatively close, which was good. He liked newbies that could follow rules. Though the Moit were all about freedom of choice and stuff, sometimes rules for safety were necessary. At least, that’s what Kaeden believed. Absentmindedly, Kaeden spoke up while digging through the rubble, “It wasn’t much. Just imagine these building real tall, not broken, then add a million Humans in it, and boom, you’ve got the city. It sounds pretty depressing.”

Kaeden himself had never entered the city, that he could remember, so his opinion was based on what he’d heard from others. Pulling up a bit of metal from the pile, Kaeden examined it closely. If they could get rid of the rust, it would make for some rather high quality material. He placed the piece of metal under his arm and stood again, looking to Akika. “Maybe some other piles on the main roads have something left, but it’s somewhat unlikely, given how many come through here. A better bet would be the tunnels or the alleys. Though, they can be… dangerous as hell.”

A lot had changed since Akika last walked this world. Though back then confined to the forest that was his home and close to the tribal town, the kitsune hadn't seen much else. But even his first stroll had showed him this much. The impact had been rather large but Akika managed to struggle his way out of the depressing thoughts and focus on the now. Since all he knew were gone, there was no need to go search for survivors either. The best he could do was try and get his life in order.

Perhaps the long time in the seal had matured him in some way. He was much less occupied with mischief. Or perhaps that was just because he was kind of subdued by the news he had received. His thoughts were soon interrupted by Kaeden's voice nearby as they replied to his earlier thought. "That still sounds impressive." Akika spoke. But then his tribe lived simple. Wooden huts rather than buildings as Kaeden was describing.

The amount of humans sounded concerning though. "Where I lived we simply built huts among the trees. There was no need for more than that." the Kitsune mesmerized about what he remembered. "The village had this large fire burning in the middle of all the huts where we always gathered and ate together." Akika bit his underlip a bit as he thought about it, unable to mask the missing feeling in his voice.

How long had the bonfire been extinguished he wondered. A very long time if he was to go by Kaeden's account of things. While thinking about it he looked through the nearby ruins as well. If he saw something promising he would show it to Kaeden, trusting on his judgement. If only because he was more known with wood and rock than some of the weird substances he found here. If he found a slate of iron his first reaction was probably to toss it aside. "Does your tribe use bonfires?" Akika asked to keep themselves busy during the search as well. Of course he meant the actual large ones, not the small campfires you usually saw.

[Continued from The Nave in St.Viers Haven]

They seemed to be lucky now. There was no sign of St.Vier or the Kir as the two passed down the streets, but it didn’t dissipate any concern Lokeah had after not witnessing them within Haven. Sure they could have been in there somewhere… but couldn’t they also just as likely be out here? There were too many possibilities. Everything was unsafe.

“Honey, do you know where Vier or those monsters are? If they’d be out here at all?” He asked curiously as they run. “It ain’t safe running about in the open like this if they could be.”

He knew of places, areas to take refuge that made it the slightest bit harder to be seen when it came to hiding from those that worked for the masters. Mazes of alleyways, abandoned buildings, hidden tunnels, all places that felt better than here. Not that he was thinking terribly clearly in this moment and the alleys seemed to be the best course of action to start.

Honey
If Honey had been thinking about anything but running, his movements would have gone robotic and awkward. Maybe he would have even frozen, just right there in the middle of the street; at worst, he might have started creeping back toward Haven.

But something about Lokeah made running easier to focus on, and he paid attention mostly to his own gait, top maneuvering the streets without catching anything on his antlers.

He slowed down slightly at Lokeah’s question, but found that this too didn’t make him seize up; not yet.

”I don’t know” he answered, fighting to bring his voice above a whisper. Surely he didn’t need to whisper now.

”They should have been inside; we should have died.” He gave a wild laugh at this, at the impossibility of it.

”We should be dead" he repeated.

Trying to actually answer the question, he added,

”The only reason they would be away is if St. Vier were in physical danger. I can’t imagine how that would ever happen, but--”

Now he froze. The idea hadn’t occurred to him. A stab of panicked worry overtook him. Was St. Vier hurt?

…In need of his help? If Lokeah had kept running, he would have needed to tug Honey along. But he’d start moving again, more slowly.

His next words would be more muffled, guilt clear in them.

”They could be anywhere.”
