The rapping tap of Lestenna's knuckles on the solid wooden door was slightly more harried than her usual stoic request for entry. Not out of any sort of upset, it was excitement, and pride, that drove her eagerly forward. A reshuffling of the wings had been in the work for some time. Today at last the Weyrleader and the Flightleaders had made their choices. And V'kenti was among them. Her own partner, the rider of the bronze that had stolen Uridith's heart, the one who'd done the same to hers some months along the way. He'd had no rank to his name beyond being a bronze rider, and that had suited her fine enough. She similarly was 'only' a gold rider. But her gold had risen most recently, and given them all a grand, large clutch that included a golden egg in its number. And now he had been tapped as a wingleader. Not of the most prestigious wing, but that didn't matter. She was so proud of him.
And she knew he'd be immediately off to think about who to tap as his seconds. She of course, rode in the queen's wing, but that didn't mean she would be of no use to him now. She kept her tabs, and if nothing else, they could bounce ideas off each other. He'd retreated to his weyr, Uridith (who was curled on the ledge of said weyr with Takarath) had informed her, and once her own meetings were ended she'd come to find him. It felt a bit odd to be coming back to the weyr he'd more or less abandoned to share her own, but it made sense. A separation of business and pleasure was important, and would keep them both focused. She could always trust him to be a sensible sort. It was one of the things she liked about him.
And while she really wouldn't have minded if he'd stayed a wingrider forever, she was going to make very clear to him just how proud she really was.

While normally a mess of this nature would rankle at Lestenna's order-seeking nature, she understood this one. The weyr V'kenti had claimed for himself turns ago wouldn't do for a Wingleader. He was owed more, and of course would be moving. It wasn't something she'd thought about in depth, but the fact that he was taking care of it himself and not simply ordering drudges about carrying things appealed to her. It was a common enough practice, and honestly, if thread had been due to fall within the next few days, she would have thought it better for him to do so, but those people had plenty to do already. Plenty of other new Wingleaders would be making use of that option already, she was sure.
"Not at all. You've got a lot of different things to consider, and a lot of tasks to juggle." It was part of why she'd come, after all. Uridith lifted her head from where it rested against Takarath's to trill brightly at the sight of her rider. It did rather feel like the whole little family had come together for the moment, which was always a good thing if you asked the gold. Family was very important.
"Already started thinking on who to tap? I doubt the Weyr could have named a finer Wingleader for the job. I'm sure you'll find the right ones." as if V'kenti would be the sort to shirk duty at all. He was ever pragmatic, always ready to sacrifice his time and effort for their Weyr. Honestly it was surprising somewhat that he'd not been named Wingleader sooner, though perhaps he'd been to young. Experience was important too, though really, a rider of almost any age had just as much practice handling thread as any other now in this day and age, Uridith's own children aside. "Anyone standing out?" She was polite and respectful enough not to just grab a page and start reading. They were partners, but she was not above him in rank. They were equals, but he was well within his rights to keep his thoughts from her on this topic if he chose.
