It had been a little while since Naz had gone out on any café visits; in fact, since the Charter rewrite, she hadn't done much of anything other than zombie through life and trying to come to terms with supposedly being magic. And, apparently, also pretty damn useless in a crisis - christ, she didn't even know how the whole thing had ended!

It nagged at her; had there been more fights? More bad guys? She still woke up with the smell of burning flesh in her nostrils some nights, imaginary and terrifying.

And she still had no clue exactly what had gone on - it'd been pretty clear she was a newbie where everyone else was far more experienced.

Well, today she was done zombie-ing around! It was pretty damn clear that answers weren't just going to magically (ha!) appear to her - it was time to take matters into her own hands.

Which she had done, by paying her first visit to Equinox Teahouse, the only café she'd heard about that was open about their customers being magic. Hell, she was bound to run into someone from the whole charter-whatsits if she hung around here enough, right?

She was here, she was damn curious and she was watching the people in the shop with a keen interest.

If Nazriya still had any doubts about Equinox being a hangout for the magically inclined, they were likely dissolved completely by the god damned animated statue who'd appeared at her table while she was looking the other way. He was wearing the standard wine-red polo the small handful of the shop's workers had, and had a pen and notepad ready to take an order.

"Hi," said Julian, in a pretty regular-sounding human voice. His skin was made of stone and yet was still pliable enough to allow him to move. "You need any help with the menu, or are you ready to order?"

This guy was probably one of the weirdest people Nazriya had encountered, everyone at the Charter rewrite included. She blinked stupidly at him, mouth opening before she realised she had no idea what to say and closing it with a snap.

Menu, menu... ready to order? His words began dawning on her after a long, awkward moment. "Er, sure," had she even looked at the menu? Too engrossed in watching the patrons, she'd neglected to check out what they were actually selling. But it was a teahouse right? "I'll have," a moment of uncertainty that showed on her face, "chamomile tea? You have that, right?"

"Sure do," said Julian, idly rapping his pen against the paper. "Just plain cham, then? We keep like three blends around."
