Everything felt new again. In many ways, really.thread had come, and laid bare the weaknesses of the world that had been let fester, and forced a change of plans, of locations, of philosophies.

Uridith and Lestenna had been settling in as best as they could to High Reaches. It suited them well enough, but the heights and the colder air were somewhat jarring. Not to mention the change in daylight hours, and more often than not they were finding themselves restless in the early or late hours. Today was no exception, and the gold had flown with her rider up to perch atop one of the seven spires of the weyrbowl, opposite the watch dragon and gazing out over the barely-familiar landscape.

Mountainous. Harsh. So very different from the tropical coast they'd both been born to.

With a grunt the gold pushed off, gliding down, down, down, and then out over the evening-glow covered plains. Their new home was harsh and different, but beautiful. And theirs. And so much better in so many ways than where they'd been before. A paradise of rules and discipline. Ready to fight and face the enemy like the legendary fighters of turns long ago. Who could want to be anywhere else?

Beneath Lestenna's pondering form, Uridith suddenly let out a trumpet. In the distance, two unfamiliar dragons had appeared...and were heading for the weyr. It was too far off for the watch dragon to see yet, but...State your names, strangers, and be known to high Reaches! The gold's voice sang out to brown and green as she caught a draft to rise higher, gaining altitude on them.

The strangers had burst in from Between, a thin blond man on a brown and a small, dark-haired woman on a green. Both were dressed well, but looked disheveled, and their dragons bore traces of partially-healed Threadscore. They flew steadily toward the prominent spires of High Reaches until the voice of the gold rang out. The pair of dragons shifted into a spiraling orbit, still well afar of the Weyr, seemingly unwilling to come closer without an invitation.

Tikth of the Harper Lucayr, and Inannath of Emori, came the brown’s terse reply. We have come from the pass between this place and Nabol Hold. We--

Our friends were hurt by Thread! the green cut him off. Please, we need Healers to come quickly!

They were then silent as they wheeled in the sky, awaiting an answer from the gold.

ShinosBee
This totally feels fishy, like some kind of raider setup.

Twin pairs of searching eyes rapidly assessed the quartet, noting tattered finery and injuries between them. Brown and green...solid fighting colors, at least. Not unreasonable to have been out in the wild. Faranth only knew how many others had been roving the planet when thread returned to ravage it. Far more than would remain to flee back to the weyrs now, of course.

That they would seek safety and security seemed natural. Their balking, wide swoops then made them suspect, as if they perhaps meant to lure the lone goldrider out further. Most likely she ought to have brought a small retinue, but fire was still thrumming in both their chests from their flight north, fleeing smoke and ruins and screaming death. This was now home, and both rider and dragon were bitterly keen to defend it. The idea that they had mistaken her gold for the senior gold of High Reaches crossed Lestenna's mind, and she felt the smallest satisfaction in that even if this were a trap about to be sprung, their probable ransom would be rather lacking. Their names seem given honestly enough. A grain of truth to hide the poison it's laced with?

Lestenna stroked a hand along what she could reach of the huge gold's neck, mind churning ideas forth on how best to handle this. If indeed they needed help, and quickly, a delay might cost lives. If it was a trap, it would be foolish to fly right in. Perhaps something down the middle...

Thoughts flew back and forth rapidly, as the gold seemed to hover with a baleful stare. Then came flowing forth the liquid voice again, the gold's eyes still wary colors, but rolling less frantically with worry. We have healers, but at the weyr. How bad are their needs? Would supplies alone do, or would you have them brought in among our people? Patience came with the words, as an idea had formed, but both of the pair were keen to delve deeper before making a hasty move. The green and brown both might easily be able to outpace a gold, but she would not need to outpace them. She might not be the senior gold of the weyr, or even the second. A junior queen, at best, but her voice would carry enough weight for these weyrless vagabonds, if they decided to spring whatever plot they'd seen fit to try to hatch.

Teiha
If they try anything, she'll boss them around, but it's a bad way to make new allies, forcing their hands right off so...they're trying to play it safe, for now.

A second long silence followed the gold’s words as the green and brown swooped inward with alarming proximity to each other. Their skilled aerial acrobatics in such close quarters could have been captivating to an audience, if the situation hadn't been so dire. With practiced adjustments of their wings and tails, they closed their spiraling paths enough for their riders to talk at a medium volume instead of shouting, which the goldrider might have been able to hear.

---------------

“They’re going to call an attack on us,” Emori seethed through her teeth, the words coming out in an exasperated hiss. She was slouched over her dragon’s neck, black hair slightly greasy and falling across her face in unkempt curtains. Her large eyes, peering resentfully through the hair, seemed sunken, their sockets darkened from the long days and nights of work, worry and cold since Thread fell. She was bone-weary after their numerous transfers Between to all the nearest settlements, only to find ruins and dead, or to be counted as pillagers and driven off by resident dragons and watchwhers. “We should have gone the other way, to Nabol. We can’t trust the weyrs.”

Lucayr was no less spent than his companion, but he still sat straight in his straps and even managed a bit of a smirk… a rather weak one, anyway. “My dearest trundlebug, Nabol is all but inhospitable even on the best of days. What makes you think we would find any welcome or help there now, when the end of the world is near? And if any are left alive in that place, they would almost certainly be crocked senseless with drink or other interesting additives.”

The small woman was incensed by his (in her opinion) completely inappropriate humor, and was disgusted to hear her own Inannath chuckling at it. Then the green sighed a deep sigh that caused a shudder to pass through her entire body. She let her next turn swing wide, relaxing her wings with a noticeable wobble. Emori realized she was struggling to keep herself on an even keel as they turned around once more. The green was obviously reaching the end of her strength, too, as was Lucayr’s brown. Neither of them had much stamina to begin with, and all these trips Between were wearing on them.

I must alight very soon, Inannath warned, her eyes whirling with flecks of grey. My wings feel as if they intend to tear themselves right off of my back.

As do mine, Tikth concurred. I sense that the golden one may be unwilling to risk sending healers to the pass. She would be right, of course. We do not look like trustworthy folk, according to those other watchers we’ve met today.

“Yes… it appears that words may not be compelling enough,” the Harper noted, giving his brown a pat on the neck. “Tikth, if you could give that lovely gold a little picture of our needs, perhaps she might be inclined to believe we mean no harm.”

I am certain she’ll be able to discern my sincerity, came the brown’s assurance. He spoke confidently, but the little twinkles of yellow in his otherwise green eyes belied his nervousness.

In his mind, he recalled the devastation of their caravan. The danger was spotted in the sky in the distance, but there was nowhere to go. The rock walls of the pass were solid, there was no shelter to be had when the Thread arrived. Entire wooden wagons were eaten down to nothing but the metal buckles, rings and nails, the draybeasts and runners attached to them were either devoured or left running wild in the deadly silver hail. The dragons did what they could to flame Thread out of the sky, but they two could do little more than protect themselves and their riders. People were half-eaten before they could be doused with water, leaving them either dead or dying a terrible death. One had even run into Tikth’s flame, desperate to end the pain.

The dozen or so who still lived were in terrible condition, their threadscores too deep and broken bones too severe for them to live through a trip Between.

These will not survive if skilled healers do not come to them, Tikth said.

The collaboration of the riders bore scrutiny, and Lestenna could see through Uridith's eyes that the riders themselves were worn, haggard. Barely fit to sit their straps much longer. The caught the tremble that had taken up residence in the green's wings, and the growing distress in the brown's eyes. They either were genuinely distressed, or would face some unknown terrible fate if they were raiders who failed to lure her into their trap. But which?

The gold rumbled low, a warning note as the brown fed her mind his memories. Her own eyes, whirling warning orange notes, paled towards gray in sympathy. the images of huddled screaming wanderers, bodies half dissolved and devoured, utter chaos. It was a flashback to her own home weyr, now little more than ash and dust on the southern coast. We cannot let them suffer so. Look at them. If it is a raider trap, then I can subdue their dragons, and I will crush their men and women if they are all so underfed and weak. It was a fair enough assessment on Uridith's part. She was in truth a gentle gold, but utterly vicious when driven to guard her home.

And another idea, as well. Rider and dragon both agreed the moment it came to mind, and the gold dove, swirling towards them quickly, but with eyes now an ocean-blue. Come, then. We will fetch your people...but you will come with us first. The gold beckoned, and swung in a wide slow arc (thanks to her size) before heading for the weyr. Ride the wind my wings cut, so that you do not fall from the sky. The gold then called ahead, her mind reaching out to the watch dragon's, and his rider, to gather a number of healers and what supplies they felt reasonable to be spared. It would be an effort for the green at least, tired as she was, to climb to the height needed to pass between the spires of the bowl, but once there, she and the brown both would feel the gold urging them to land.

Even I cannot carry them all alone. We will have one or two others— Down below a cloudy blue-gray blue trumpeted up at them, his rider waving as she helped several plainly garbed men onto the dragon's back. —who will help.. The gold fixed the strange green and brown with expectant eyes as she herself landed, waiting for them to join her below. To her rider alone, she asked, The brown, or the green? The little one is so tired, she would be the kinder choice, though if it is a trap, the brown...

Teiha
The blue that will be accompanying for the record is my own Krahsujunth. He's a big blue, and pretty tough, so definitely a choice made out of worry it's still a trap. Once they're down, Uri is going to force one of them to stay in the weyr as a 'ransom' to be sure she herself returns safe,
basically. Not sure which yet.

Inannath reacted instantly to the gold’s invitation, turning sharply toward the weyr. Her rider sputtered and pleaded with her green to stop, but Inannath was done with caution. She was going to rest now, no matter what. Tikth and Lucayr were startled, gawking for a moment before following suit. Once caught up, they flew very close and slightly above Inannath, prepared to take action if her strength gave out.

As she struggled to rise high enough to land, the gold’s assistance in cutting her a path through the air became a crucial aid. Emori had ceased all attempts to stop Inannath and instead pressed as close to her neck as possible, reducing wind resistance and encouraging her dragon with all the positive thoughts she could muster. Inannath had hidden her exhaustion well; Emori hadn’t realized just how hard she had pushed herself.

The green’s landing near the gold was a little clumsy, a single motion taking her from touchdown straight into lying down. Her wings went limp and she let her head sink down to the ground with a sigh of relief. Thank you, she said to the golden one, eyes whirling a tired but agreeable greyish blue. Emori quickly slipped out of her straps and knelt with her dragon to comfort and check her over.

Meanwhile, Lucayr gravely regarded the goldrider and her dragon, and with a palm against his breast he gave them the best bow he could while sitting astride his brown. “We are truly thankful for your assistance,” he said. “I am sure you need no reminder, but I must emphasize again that time is of the essence. Did you require something more from us before we depart?”

ShinosBee
Either one is all right by me. Inny could probably handle a short hop after a little rest, but it'll tick Emori off to no end. Come to think of it, she was pretty huffy about being forced (by Lucayr of course) to support those two by attending Uri's future hatch...

Uridith turned to regard the near-collapsed green, sending pulses of soothing reassurance. The fact that the green was so genuinely tired spoke of their story's honesty, and she could feel the anxiety radiating off Tikth. "We're aware, of course," Lestenna's tone was a bit short with Lucayr, and she gave him an appraising look. "But we can't do much but watch them die without proper supplies, and some of the healers' items can be fragile, you understand. Still, we're almost...yes, there they are."

The last of the healers had scrambled up, clipping themselves into Uridith's own harness behind the goldrider, and the blue let out a snort before leaping skyward, two more healers astride him behind his rider. "Now then, you—" Lestenna pivoted to look down at the wheezing, winded Inannath. —will stay here, grounded, with Yours until we return to say otherwise. The gold's words swelled with power, her will pushing against the green to keep her pinned to the weyrbowl. It would not take much effort, tired as she was, but she was taking no chances. "You will stay with your green, until we return, safely. If you require food or drink, flag down one of the staff. I'll have Uridith alert someone to inform the kitchen that you may have need of their services."

The golden pair sprang into the air with more grace than their size might betray, circling almost languidly above. Come, Tikth. Show us where your people are, and we will set things the way they should be. The brown and his rider might protest, but he HAD just said...there wasn't really time to complain or stand about arguing. The green would be just fine...as long as Uridith was as well.

Teiha
XD Uri isn't that mean, since it seems more and more like they're being truthful!

Inannath was only too happy to stay put, but the queen’s order understandably gave her a jolt of fright. The mental restraint was enough to control her physically, leaving her barely able to lift her head to look to her rider for assurance. I cannot move, she whimpered, rather pathetically. Uridith bids me. When it dawned on her what her dragon meant, Emori shot the gold and her rider a sharp, poisonous glare, then looked at Lucayr. She didn’t dare open her mouth.

The harper remained calm, though inwardly he was sad that such precautions needed to be taken. Tikth’s eyes flared orange at his dear friend’s distress, and he went to her side. It will be all right, Inannath, he said, stooping to give her a gentle nuzzle. Rest now, and let the bigger dragons handle this. He made a chuffing sound, the equivalent of a laugh, when her eyes burned bright red at him for a moment.

But Inannath was too tired to stay angry, and laid her head back on the cool, comforting stone of the weyrbowl. Just bring them back safe, you spindly little tunnelsnake, she mumbled.

Tikth took that as permission to take to the air, following Uridith up until there was ample space for a safe transfer. At her prompting, he transmitted a clear image of their destination to the gold, then disappeared Between.

-----

Lucayr sucked in a deep breath when they reappeared in sky above the mountain pass, unconsciously dusting himself off as if to brush away the numbness of Between. He’d never get used to it. He gripped Tikth’s neck ridges as the brown sharply descended toward the ruins of their once colorful and lively caravan. When they reached the ground, Lucayr dismounted and he and Tikth proceeded to guide the healers to where they were needed.

Most of the survivors were gathered together, except for a few who were in too poor a condition to be moved. These were the first to be pointed out to the healers. After that, Tikth settled down to rest in a place out of the way. Lucayr, on the other hand, threw himself into assisting the healers however he could, setting up shelters, carrying supplies or people, and offering support to his injured friends with encouraging words. It was almost like the aftermath of Tikth’s hatchday, in an odd way.

Uridith and Lestenna both paid no mind to the bitter, angry looks of the green's rider. It was their decision of course, and they would simply have to abide it. It was how the world worked, and not so high a price for their aid, was it? Already in the air, there was no time to even consider how ungrateful they were being. Lives needing saved and all that. Let the beneficence of the weyr shine down upon the needy and the broken and the lost of Pern.

With a breath and a blink, they were gone, three dragons and more riders, away between to give their aid.

On the far side of nothing, the blue swirled down to deposit his cargo as needed. The gold herself touched down long enough to let her riders slide of, before alighting on a ledge some ways up, to observe away from the blood and stink of death. With barely a thought she marshaled the blue, using him as her claws to help move those needing moved or to carry those who could not walk. The healers of course were self-sufficient, able to look at the scene and deduce where to work, but through the gold Lestenna could share information between them, and did so with calm efficiency.

You know there are many that will be unable to continue travelling on their own now. Especially not with thread in the sky. We would suggest, the gold turned her thoughts towards Tikth, ...that you and yours return to the weyr with us. We will give your people shelter, and food, and safety. And you, and your green friend, will join the strength of our wings. Her tones were confident. And really, why wouldn't they be? The green was hers already, and the brown could not leave without her, at least...The queen dragon felt a hum of pleasure shift through her cavernous chest. Yes, this was going just as her rider had hoped, and her family was growing!

There… it was done. What could be done for them, anyway. A few of his comrades likely weren’t going to make it, healers or no healers. Lucayr hoped that it wouldn’t be a long wait, if their fate was certain. He was helping with the cleanup, packing away medicines and implements, when Tikth abruptly lurched to his feet, eyes whirling a disturbed yellow.

What is it?

Tikth seemed not to hear for a moment, but then looked at him, a greenish swirl spilling back into the sallow whorls. We return to the weyr.

Lucayr paused, giving the brown a sideways glance. Tikth’s voice had that tone to it. That sort of sing-songy tone that meant he had a wonderful game or riddle in mind. This really wasn’t the time for that sort of thing, and the harper sternly told him so. Have some respect, Tikth. Control yourself. No games.

The dragon bobbed his head, his neck forming a loose corkscrew that illustrated his immense amusement. I don’t neeeeeed to control myself.

Decidedly unamused, the harper let out a long sigh through his nose, then stood up and addressed Lestenna with a call toward Uridith’s perch. “Lady goldrider, at your leisure, we are ready to return.”

Indeed it looked like what they could do had been done. The healers were already bustling their belongings back together and onto the dragons, or leaving set piles out for the stragglers that would have to remain behind. One of the healers, a rather wizened looking but still spry middle aged woman, had opted to stick around. She had a firelizard, she said, and if there was any trouble or need to rejoin the weyr before the injured folks could be moved, it could be sent along to let the weyr know.

Lestenna peered down around the bulk of golden Uridith at Tikth's rider, nodding solemnly. "Those of your companions who are ready and able to travel may climb on board with you, and with our bluerider. I will escort the healers myself," and indeed they had all gone to begin clambering up onto the gold, "And we'll see them safely along. I take it your brown has made it clear our position and opinion. You'll be reunited with your greenriding friend soon."

Once all who were going to go were ready, the gold leapt skyward, huge wings pumping to catch her weight in the wind and move slowly up, up, up. The blue, though also large, had an easier time of it, and he sprang up with an almost angry-sounding trumpet. Next stop, High Reaches Weyr. Home, now, for them all.

Position and opinion…? Lucayr unconsciously mouthed the words. He jerked his head to stare at Tikth with narrowed eyes. The brown had divulged no such thing, and it appeared he wasn’t volunteering. The harper led his more able-bodied fellows to the dragon and helped them mount up before seating himself and strapping in. He tweaked Tikth’s neck ridge as he scolded, “I told you, no games. You le--”

Tikth cheerfully took to the air with a lurch, nearly causing his rider to chomp his own tongue in half. The responding groans of the injured folks on his back elicited a contrite little croon, but really, how else was a dragon to get off the ground? Those people were important to his rider, so he flew as smoothly as possible for their sakes until he was clear to go Between.

-----

When the queen and her small entourage reappeared in the sky above, Inannath was in mid-spiel, pouring out her whole life story to a bronze dragon who was probably just innocently passing by on his way elsewhere. Clearly, she was feeling better, though she was still literally pinned to the rock floor by Uridith’s order. She no longer seemed bothered by it, happily babbling away with her eyes awhirl like the silly thing she was.

Emori still looked rather ashen and baggy-eyed, but she was sipping klah and an empty soup tureen lay on the ground beside her. She sighed with relief at the sight of Tikth and Lucayr accompanied by so many of the friends she’d expected to lose. Now it was just a matter of waiting a few sevendays for them to recover, then they would reform the caravan and move on. The small woman went to meet them and was closest to the scarred blue dragon when they landed. She gingerly approached the sinister-looking beast and handed her klah to the first of her fellows to dismount.

She helped as many of the others as she could, and out of the corner of her eye she watched Tikth go to Inannath, releasing her captive audience with a friendly hello-and-goodbye. The bronze ambled off rather quickly, as if he were late for some sort of appointment. The green and brown proceeded to carry on a private conversation, their wings, necks and eyes animated with a zeal that Emori found awfully strange, given the situation. As one, the pair stretched their necks toward the golden dragon, warbling to her with low, reverential notes in a way that sounded… almost... ardent.

She glanced across the way at Lucayr, who was observing the two with the same scrutiny. He looked back at Emori, and realization hit them both.

They weren’t going anywhere.

-----

Lucayr knew what kind of storm was about to blow up. He dashed to the greenrider and seized her, clamping a hand over her mouth. “Dragons know best,” he blurted in her ear. “Don’t make a scene.”

He could feel the vibration of her teeth grinding as she fought to hold her tongue. That was step one. Then, as expected, her eyes filled with tears as she began to relax. That was step two. It was fortuitous that they were mostly hidden from view by the large blue dragon’s wings and bulk. It wouldn’t do at all if the goldrider saw her in such a state. He knew she was thinking about what would happen with so many male dragons about, waiting to catch Inannath when she rose. He knew that Inannath would be distraught if her own feelings during the flight influenced her rider to get too close to someone else. The dragon’s logic didn’t make sense, but they would have to come up with a new solution, because it was clear that Inannath had given her allegiance to the gold.

When he was sure Emori had control of herself, Lucayr left her and approached Lestenna, his face carefully neutral. “We are truly indebted to you for your assistance,” he said. “We would have preferred to continue on as we were, as free agents, but we will not resist if you wish us to stay at High Reaches.” He nodded toward Inannath and Tikth, a faint grin cracking the corner of his mouth. “It appears your gold has already won their hearts, anyway...”

As the blue went about depositing his cargo and winging away, intent on other things (though not without a pause to croon at the larger gold) Uridith was keeping watch. She was pleased to see the green had remained where she was bidden, and once all the wounded were off and in the care of the weyr proper, she let Lestenna slide from her back to move towards them. Arise, sweet green sister. All is well. You must forgive my strong hand in making sure that all of us remain safe. It took barely a thought to free the green, and she trilled bemusedly at her and the brown. They were already hers, weren't they? New friends, a new brother and sister in arms. Part of her Weyr, part of her family. You'll be very welcome here. High Reaches can use strong, brave, clever dragons, and you two have been surviving alone for so long. That makes you strong, brave, clever dragons, right?

Lestenna had similarly returned to the weyr and almost forgotten about the new riders, out of an assumption that things had gone to plan, and were handled. She did not see the green's rider cry, and if she had seen it she wouldn't have understood. The man tromping over caught her eye and she turned to face him, an understanding nod making her head bob. "The Weyr cares for its own. As riders of High Reaches, you owe the Weyr nothing. And you are, as you said, now part of our riding forces." It was blunt, it was almost cruel, or insulting. It was the only sensible thing though, if you asked Lestenna. Letting them return to the wilds, carry on, would result in the aforementioned debt, and a deficit of the Weyr's resources, not to mention putting the otherwise valuable riders and their companions at risk. Free agents? What could a lone brown and a green do? Could they even get their hands on a respectable amount of firestone? No, no. Nonsense.

They belonged in the Weyr, where they could make a difference. And repay the cost of their friends' lives by giving their own.

"Uridith is a kind gold. She did not like commanding the green to wait behind. But just now golds are very valuable, and the political climate is less stable than we'd like. There have been rumors of raiding groups, attacks on lone dragons. It kept all of us safe." If anything had happened to Uridith, something would have happened to Inannath, the message was clear. "But now we are allies. And...were you two mates? We do still have some larger weyrs available that your dragons could both fit on, I think." Lestenna was already down to business, even with Uridith crooning approvingly, almost matronly at her newest 'children'.

Inannath’s expression was blissful as Uridith welcomed them with praise. Such a big and important dragon, calling the tiny green strong and brave? Dearest shining Uridith! she chirruped, having learned the queen’s name from the poor bronze she’d verbally accosted. All is forgiven, were there anything that needed forgiving. We should only be too pleased to stay and fly with you against the enemy. At her side, Tikth churred in agreement. This was what they wanted, regardless of their riders’ preferences. And who better to invite them into the fold but their savior?

The blond man steadily gazed at Lestenna, nodding at her harsh statement. He fought the urge to grin again, and perhaps even to laugh as well. Judging by the woman’s serious demeanor, she might not interpret that in a positive light. At any rate, this seemed an auspicious enough event to warrant some solemnity. It still rankled him a bit that there was really no choice here, but even so, he knew she was right.

“We are not mates, Emori muttered as she joined them. There was a definite growl on the emphasized word, and disgust was all over her face as she eyed her tall, thin friend.

At that, Lucayr did laugh. “No, we most certainly aren’t. Though we could share quarters, if necessary.”

The small black-haired woman shot a pleading look at Lestenna. “Please say it isn’t. I’ll happily throw my lot in with you if it means I can get away from this idiot for a while.”

A beat or two passed after the riders protested that no, they most certainly were not together, before a small half-smirk drifted across Lestenna's face, looking wholly out of place. "Alright then. Not weyrmates. And sharing won't be necessary. High Reaches is well-populated, but we certainly have room for a few more. I can't promise you won't end up neighbors, but..." In the end it'd be easier to find two smaller weyrs than one large one. The largest always got snapped up by golds, and bronzes too, who kept more permanent companions. The green would be easier to place, though many of the smaller weyrs were...lacking in luxury. Still, it was shelter from thread, and her own space. That should be enough for an only just recently nomad, right?

"If I might ask, where were your dragons shelled, and when? It'd be...pertinent, to know what sort of training you both have had, though of course, there will be ample opportunities to improve yourselves." Most of the arrivals had dispersed, leaving (for the moment) just the gold, brown, and green in the bowl with their riders. "My door will remain open, should you need my assistance, though I highly suggest you both go to present yourselves to the weyrwoman and weyrleader before the day is out. They may have plans for you that I cannot anticipate, though I doubt it."

The gold couldn't help but feel fondness for these two. So well-mannered, and willing to help. They'd make High Reaches proud, she was sure. She crooned to them both, subtly assessing their sizes and what stamina she'd seen. Yes, she'd done very well bringing them into the fold! I'm sure you must both be hungry...if you like, we do have pens of beasts right over there, and since you are part of the Weyr now, you are welcome to indulge. I would say you could go hunting too, but I believe my rider will want yours to get settled in first before flying off again. I do hope you understand, my darlings...
