The Weyrbowl was all giggles when the creche workers decided to let the children out to play. A certain indulgent bronze had landed near the lake, and all the kids were rushing over. Everyone liked it when Ddraigth was out. One of the most tolerant bronzes she had known, he was always letting the kids come up and bother him. Even if she thought some of them were being too rough sometimes! But she supposed if you were as big as a dragon, you hardly noticed it.
The boys were jumping all over and shouting, trying to climb up his tail, but Tia lingered back. She wasn't all that energetic, but she still liked that the dragon let them get close to him. Wandering over slowly, she wrapped her arms around the dragon's back leg like a hug, leaning against his hind quarter. She poked her face out from behind the his leg, watching him from behind, though any time he turned around, she would snap her head back with a giggle. |

It had become a ritual for them, on their rest days, to find a place in the bowl near the cerche for the children to come out and play. Weyrbrat's got to see dragons a lot more then any other children, but it was always nice to let them get a closer look and Ddraigth was the best one for this as well. He loved the children and was always so gently with them.
The large bronze was happy to have the children all around him, paying attention as the boys were climbing up his tail, then he noticed Tia hugging one of his hind legs. He let out a happy trill to her, turning his head as he was hiding her face from him, behind his own leg. He twisted back there, gently nudging the girl and then blowing air from his nostrils at her.
Dr'stan, for his part, stood off to the side, his eyes watching all of this. There was an ever present smile on his lips however. He took as much pleasure in this as Ddraigth did. He had always been protective of the other Weyrbrat's when he was one of them and that hadn't changed. He was still very protective and looked after all of them the best he could.

Tia gave a shout of surprise, but no real fear, as the dragon suddenly turned his head towards her. Gasping, she darted back behind his leg again. She was about to peek around the other side when he suddenly twisted his head back and and gently nudged her stomach, a blast of air from his nostrils hitting her face.
Tia jumped back and giggled delightedly. "You found me, Ddraigth!" she said, reaching out a hand and gently stroking his face. Right along the eye ridges.. That's where her brother said they liked it.
She looked at Dr'stan with a big grin, taking a shy step towards him. "How big was he when he was a baby?" she asked, curiously. She had probably been to hatchings before, when she was younger, but she hardly remembered them. It was strange to think of dragons -such huge things- as ever being babies. |

It was hard to imagine a dragon being much bigger than Ddraigth, though she knew some must be. She'd seen gold before, but never very close up. The stands at the upcoming hatching would probably the closest she had been to one. "Wow. I bet you were a cute baby, Ddraigth." she said with a chuckle. She wished she could've seen him.
"I hope so!" she said to Dr'stan. Then she'd get to see a baby dragon up close too! Ooh, it'd be so cute she could almost cry. "He'd be a good rider." She was basing this entirely on the fact that he was nice to her, however.
Folding her hands behind her back, she leaned back against Ddraigth's leg again. "Maybe! I'll be a candidate, at least." she said with another little smile. Whether a dragon would really pick her, she couldn't say. It still seemed so far off. At seven, fourteen felt like a lifetime away (technically, it was!). "I hope my dragon is as big as Ddraigth if I do." Though part of her wanted to be a bluerider like her mother too! But she was a little shy about that. Female blue riders were rare, they said. |

Tia giggled again when the dragon nuzzled her. "You're cute now too!" she added happily.
"You really think I could impress a brown?" she asked the bronze rider, uncommonly pleased by the idea. They said only a few rare girls could even ride a blue, much less brown. So she was happy if Dr'stan would say so. She kind of liked the idea.. She'd be like her mom, in a way, but also different.
"Mmm.." She hid behind her hand a little shyly as she thought. She didn't really have a strong favorite, going back and forth seeing the benefits of each, from wanting to ride a blue like her mom, to admiring the beauty of golds, though she'd never say it (only the specialist smartest ladies got to ride a gold). "I think I like brown best." she said, though she probably would have said any color that he suggested. "Then he can be big ilike Ddraigth! Though maybe not quite as big..." she admitted. |
