She waited quietly after Jeremiah left, the stone (it wasn't really a stone, but she wasn't sure what else to call it so easily) in one hand and a Devon Rex against her other shoulder. Bento purred and kneaded, rump perking up into the air as Fox rubbed her fingers into the base of her tail - the feline sweet spot.

Holding the roughly magical piece up to the feline's face, Bento sniffed it once, then rubbed her face on it with a purr.

Once Fox settled into the seat, Bento hopped off her shoulder, crossed the back of the chair, then climbed back down onto Fox's chest to purr with her butt placed firmly in the woman's face. Fox pushed it away with a pat, then turned her attention to the stone. Something had said hello and she just wanted to see if maybe, just maybe it had been shy.

Or something.

Fox closed her eyes, feeling dumb there alone in her apartment, deciding that yes, she was going to talk to a piece of a magic cage and see if anything would happen.

'Hello? Will this do anything?'

Did she think this at it? Did she hope somehow it just knew she was trying to make contact?

She felt like an IDIOT sitting here, thinking at a rock, with a cat's butt in her face. Bento just purred and butted her head against the rock again.

PRRRR.

It wasn't speech, as such. Fox had the feeling something small and delicate was speaking to her, like the psychic equivalent of a wave. Bento headbutted the stone, and it whispered again, hello bento are you there?

Bento didn't give a proper answer. She just purred and continued to rub her face all over it. Fox, knowing her cat well, assumed it was just Bento being affectionate. Normal behavior.

The feline continued to do this as Fox opened one eye to look down at the object.

Hello, Hello. Fox tried again, Are you there?

This could have been a fun long party.

You mean the Chief? Yes.

Did he wear anything made of bone? She couldn't recall, but outside of a skeleton inside of her (which was sort of a given) she didn't own any bones.

There was nothing to accompany that, other than the mental sensation of someone nearby shuddering.

This officially marked the weirdest experience of her life. At least she was certain she hadn't hallucinated her trip over to Other Ashdown to see the cage. Now she wasn't certain if she was just hallucinating this conversation she was having with a stone.

A magic stone.

It kind of talked.

Bento's rump rose straight into the air as she was addressed, rubbing her face against the rock again.

Fox sighed deeply.

I am not okay, but I am glad to hear you are.

Fox looked at the mark on the inside of her wrist with a slight frown. Technically, nobody had purposely hurt her. She'd asked for it, but still her guts twisted with a weird foreign uncertainty. Not that Fox Bliskiss had never felt uncertain before, but seeing that whole cage.

Which she was now speaking to a part of....
