Amalahle yawned hugely as she rolled over, batting automatically at the fluffy tip of her sister's tail. The sandy-hued cub, one of only two in the small pile of fur, was snuggled up happily against their mother's side. Maditah was dozing, but every time one of the cubs moved, her ear would twitch backwards, proving that she would wake at the slightest disturbance to her family.
Ama yawned again, then squeeked as a foot was shoved in her open mouth. The culprit was one of the sandy cub's sisters. Shuqisa was the darkest of the litter of five, and one of the most cheeky. Giggling at Ama's perturbed expression and outraged squeek, Qisa pulled her paw out of her sister's mouth before the other cub could bite down. "Lazy butt!" She whispered loudly under her breath, earning herself a scowl. "Am not!" Ama retorted, swotting at her younger sibling, aiming at Qisa's face but missing by a wide margin and smacking one of the other sleeping cubs.

Qisa squeeked as Ama landed on her, rolling them both over in a tangle of fluff and limbs. Batting widly at her tan sister as Ama tried to bite at her, she let out a whoosh of air as their third sibling joined them, leaving Qisa on the bottom of the pile. Ama laughed as she was squished between her sisters, turning to grab at Omisa in return and consequently upsetting their precariously balanced positions. Tumbling off Qisa, Ama scrambled to stay in the battle, laughing and yelling as best she could around a front paw that had found its way into her mouth.
Qisa, finding herself no longer pinned, launched herself up and over her two siblings, grabbing at a wildly waving grey tail. "Mot ya!" She crowed around the mouthful of fur.
Maditah glanced down at the tussling cubs with a fond and patient expression. They were the lioness' first litter since arriving at the Ithambo and she was clearly content with motherhood. Chuckling softly she looked back at Kuhasa. "Whenever they aren't asleep.." She confirmed with a pleased smile. Not that she wanted misbehaving cubs, but they were healthy and energetic and playful. And when not fighting each other, they were a close-knit bunch. She had already seen them gang up aganst an older cub when the youngster had tried to muscle in on their games and pick on Amalahle.
"Would you stay with them while I go to the river?" She needed a drink and wanted to bathe, but she didn't want the cubs anywhere near the water just yet, not while they still had the habit of trying to run too fast and then tripping over. She had visions of all five tumbling into the river and being washed away.

Maditah smiled gratefully. "Thank you. I shouldn't be long." Standing she moved away from the small brawl, careful not to disturb the two still miraculously sleeping. As a Busisa, Maditah had a different cultural background, and while her old pride had been incredibly similar to the Ithambo, there had been been just one male and a small group of females, all of whom had doted on any cubs born. Though obviously the male had been more distant, he had still enjoyed playing with them every so often.
The lioness smiled again at Kuhasa before moving away, headed towards where the river ran. As she left, Ama tumbled out of the fight and looked up, seeing her mother's rump walking off. "Ma?" She called out in a confused tone, before suddenly being flattened by Qisa landing on her. Both girls making breathless 'omph' sounds at the impact. "Oww!" She told her sister off, twitsting to swipe at Qisa's grey fur.
Ecavi ( Just in case, Qisa is pronounced 'Ki-sah'. )
