Days had passed since the incident and the ship just didn't seem the same.

After a bit of care, he was well once more - though there was an estranged cough here and there, Asche no longer keeled over all the time. He went back to his usual regimen of messing about with his gang, taking care to make sure his group was fine. And of course, as always, they were once again met with a dilemma, Money. They had spent it all being fools in that tavern and thinking they wouldn't be met with some kind of bill. Looking to his little pouch with weak eyes, the tipped blonde sat in his room with a sigh, eyes going to the window as light brimmed through. For a second they'd narrow, thinking back to what had happened not too long ago. ". . I almost let it slip again. ." He had wanted to kill. . To maim and hurt. It was just like his Father had said, no matter what your fate couldn't be stopped. To live for yourself was best and to follow the path life set out for you wasn't something you could go against, but. . He didn't want to do it. He didn't want to hurt people. . and yet. .There was excitement in seeing their blood spill.

Grasping the side of his face, he'd look over into his mirror as a cold sweat held him, eyes growing wide as he saw it. That same smiling face looking back at him! "No!" H-He wasn't a monster! He wasn't! He couldn't be the Man Slayer. . "Stop smiling! This isn't anything to be happy about!" Throwing a empty bottle at the mirror, it'd shatter as glass littered the floor and Asche clasped the side of his head. He couldn't be here alone. Air. He needed some fresh air.

Getting up, he took a stroll through the ship with his usual attire on and went up to the deck. Soon as he got there he was hit with this sudden flash of cold and instantly began rubbing his arms. "Where are we now? It's ********' freezin' out here." And to his dismay they were no longer in a loving, warm climate. They were out in some frozen wasteland, filled with snow capped mountains and tundra. Great. That certainly put him in a much better mood. "Tch. Now I need to. . N-Need to. ." Vision grew blurred. A fit of coughing and hacking would soon commence after as he fell to one knee; the weakness beginning to take him. Oh no. Not again. "Damn. . Gotta lay off. . the booze. ." A harder cough, this one unlike the others. Asche felt it in his core.

Blood leaked from his mouth with slight despair brimming from the sight.

Out like a light once more.

                                                Roselle Stark

XXX It had been many long, nearly sleepless nights since they had left the warmth of islands like Kyuka and the like behind. Roselle had spent her time pouring over the words of the books she'd collected over the past year, obsessive over making sure she read every word to eliminate any chance that she'd miss something important. And finally, between her and the rest of the crew, they had figured it out.The answer to Asche's illness spread in small blurbs and references across the different texts she'd accumulated.

The Doctor knew she should have been elated, but there was a heavy aura of hopelessness that clung to the ship's deck. Everything had been tense and strained since they'd returned from the bar, and perhaps for the first time since she'd joined everyone the crew felt... Lifeless. An eerie silence had overshadowed what was usually lively banter and jokes. Nefertari didn't make quips are her anymore, and in fact he rarely seemed to speak or respond to anyone now. EZ seemed to have disconnected a bit as well, and Asche was struggling with an elusive illness that hadn't even been named. Desperately she wanted to help them all, but she simply didn't know how. What could she say to Nefertari? To Ezekiel? The stress of everyone's unhappiness was overwhelming, and only made worse with the fact that Roselle knew her Captain's clock was ticking. They had to get this medicine, and fast. And then, maybe.. Maybe everything could go back to normal..

The Skypiean stood on the deck, bundled up against the cold water, her eyes on the island they were approaching. Hearing Asche's voice, Roselle perked up slightly, turning and smiling at the man, though she looked concerned when she saw he hadn't yet changed for the new climate. "We're heading toward Drum Island. It shouldn't be much longer now. How're you feeling?" As she man turned and began to mutter a response, Roselle felt her heart skip a beat upon seeing him drop to his knees, coughing. "Asche.." She rushed over to his side, kneeling down and placing a hand on his back, rubbing it in a circular motion as he coughed. "Breathe.. Breathe.." One of her wings wrapped around him, her feathers fluffing up to protect him from the cold. This close to him, she could feel the heat radiating off his skin, a sign that his fever had gotten worse. "You need to stay in bed. We have things under contr-" The woman flinched as she heard him cough again, deeper a rougher, blood dripping from the corner of his mouth.

Eyes widening, Roselle's skin paled as she reached out to wipe the crimson liquid from his face gently with a trembling hand. "It's okay, you're okay.." Maybe it was more so to comfort herself than it was to quell any fears he might have had. The Doctor felt tears brimming in her eyes, but forced them back, knowing that she didn't have time to waste crying, especially if he was exhibiting symptoms like this. A moment later she heard him curse and felt him begin to keel over, and she tightened the grip she had on him, thickening the layers of her feathers to keep him from hitting the floor. "N-Nefertari!" It was strange, but he always seemed to be the one she called when she felt like she couldn't handle something. Something about his no nonsense attitude made her feel as though he could handle any problem thrown his way. Hopefully he could take this on, too..

The ocean looked different. It looked...sad. Nefertari gazed into the ever expanding blue beneath their ship, only seeing an sea of despair. His heart and mind weighed heavy on the words Asche spoke before they left Kyuka. Best friends...it was upsetting. It was frustrating. It was heartbreaking... He was attractive. He knew that much to be sure or else he wouldn’t have been taken for a slave in the first place. He wasn’t a bad person. Not the greatest mind you but preferable to most pirates out there. He was caring and could be kind...so why not him? Why not try. To him, it was as if his companionship was tossed aside. Deemed not good enough...

He knew that friends meant a lot to Asche but that wasn’t enough. Nefertari wanted more. They had been together for so long. They shared many experiences together and despite the group splitting and leaving Nefertari never left Asche’s side...so what made Roselle so special? Unknowingly Nefertari’s gaze would set upon the two across the deck. Roselle had been here only for a year and Asche was making advances at her since day one. A gaze would change into a glare as Roselle would hold Asche close and rub his back.

It was because she was a girl. Nefertari was cursed...with loving those that would never love him. He could try his hardest to be more feminine but would never be what the one’s he loved wanted. He had the wrong parts...He would continue to glare at the two. Seeing Asche cough up blood. Watching as she would comfort him. Even down to the point he would fall and she would beckon for the viper’s attention. It took a second to register but eventually he snapped back to reality and ran over to meet the two.

”I’ll take him.” Nefertari would throw one of Asche’s arms over his shoulder and lift, his visage wielding a somewhat hollow expression again. Feel nothing. No pain. No lust. No love. Distance yourself. You’re not really here. He would carry his sickly captain back to his room and lay him down in the bed. Looking over to Roselle, who presumably followed behind them, Nefertari would speak in a very empty tone, ”Drum Island isn’t that much further. Keep him stabilized until we get there.” Using the back of his hand, he’d feel Asche’s forehead. Hot. ”He’s got a fever. You should tend to that. I’ll be above deck making sure we stay the course...”

He would then turn to exit, leaving those two alone. Maybe it was for the best. If Nefertari truly cared for the man then he’d want him to be happy right? Right...

                                                            Marshall

                                                            Awake again.

Marshall had been in and out of sleep, his condition got better and better. Scarlett kept him company, for the most part, fetching things for him and generally just keeping him occupied. She told him that she was thankful for what he had done back in the bar, but Marshall couldn't get himself to come to terms with her being here and anything terrible happening to her under his care. So for the time being, she could stay with him until there they docked at a safer place.

Marshall looked into the mirror and closed his eyes. Something inside him was waking up. He didn't know what it was, but that didn't scare him much. What did scare him was what he would do if it ever came out again. He had never really felt anger like that. Not entirely. It was like another part of him had taken over, something powerful. It itched for battle. He couldn't ignore this feeling even if he wanted to. He wasn't sure if anyone would know what was happening to him, except for the captain. But the captain was currently in his own predicament.

He left his room once again, finding Roselle beside Asche tending to a fever. The captain had contracted some disease from what he knew and that it was a rare case. The entire ship was quiet and it didn't seem like anything would change. He stood at the door for a bit, taking in the sight of his captain. He didn't look good and he would only worsen at this point if nothing was done. Marshall left, making his way to the deck, but was not prepared for the sudden drop in temperature.

A cold breeze greeted Marshall with its icy embrace and an immediate shiver crept down his spine as he took note of Nefertary at the helm. His mood was the same as before. Lifeless. As if every bit of happiness and hope had been taken from him. Marshall couldn't blame him, although his time as a member of the crew was lacking, he had learned quite a lot about the relationships between every member. Particularly that of Nefertari and his unrequited love for Asche. He headed for the bow and peered off into the distance at their destination.

                                                            Drum Island...

A location said to house the cure for Asche's ailment according to Roselle's books. Specifically, they were docking at the town of Bighorn. Marshall sighed and turned to walk back into the hall. He stopped behind Nefertari and spoke, "It's not my place to say, but it's fine to accept finite disappointment. But never, should you ever lose infinite hope. You'll find someone..." The next step was to get dressed.

For the first time, Marshall was going to wear actual clothes. He could stand the mood of the ship, despite the predicament. But Asche wouldn't stand for any of this if he were well. So Marshall had to do his best to emulate his captain's spirit and take care of his crew. The Big Smile Pirates were not to be trifled with and if the gods want to try and take their captain from them.

Then Marshall would personally see to it that they pay the price...

( " MORE, MORE " ) The atmospheric pressure had lifted and gave way to snow. A light dusting of it fell around the ship. Even though the skies had become crisp and light, the mood on the ship was still tense. Ezekiel had since pushed Welkin out of mind the best way she knew how, which was polishing Thaddeus, disassembling and reassembling her rifle, and thoughtfully licking her preserved apricots. It helped, in a strange way, to keep herself occupied in the gloomier aspects of the current ship atmosphere. Helping Roselle when useful, telling Asche jokes. Offering to braid Nefertari's hair. Making sure Ocean Dog had his gunchables.

Ezekiel found herself on deck, wrapped in all of her blankets, and some of the others' blankets that she'd snatched from their beds. Ezekiel had grown up in tropical climes, sometimes arid ones. This weather was a crime and an attack on her existence! This gloom?! An assault! The captain's blood on the deck?! A little bit sexy, but you know, keep it classy. It wasn't hot when the person didn't want to be bleeding. Unless they were into that. Nefertari might be....Roselle and Marshall were too virginal. Asche was a...solid maybe. But with Nefertari having peaced out of the Asche-situation, Ezekiel was free to be Helpful with a capital H and join Roselle in the nice, tolerable temperature of Asche's room.

A beat or two passed between the three of them while Ezekiel tried to gauge the mood of the room. Synopsis: grim. Perfect time for a well-placed joke, huh? Maybe not. Maybe it was time for a well placed cold rag. Did she ask if it was needed? No, not really. Ezekiel just said she would be back with something useful, and when she returned, she strode right on over to the knocked-out Asche and placed that cold, wet rag right on his forehead. The perfect cure!
                          "Look, Roselle! I medicined!"

"You can't run from your blood forever. . "

There is was. That noise again.

"You're cursed kid. . It's who you are. It's apart of your birth. You Blackhearts are all cursed. . "

What? Who? He knew this. . He'd heard this before. .

"You all think you're doing good, but you're a scourge. Your mother and father sinned by having you. You're a smudge of indecency. Why don't you just. . "

Then it all slowed. The pitch black room he sat in, water beneath with torn and ragged clothing. Eyes sweating - loss of coherent thought. Palms aching. Everything weak. Everything screaming. He was wrong. He was so wrong. . He didn't need to exist. It was time for him to go.

Outside the ship as they docked, the sudden rumble of hisses and noises breached the inner sanctum of the crew. Growls plenty as thuds hit the deck and if anyone saw they'd witness large white creatures having started to funnel inward, covered in the blood of their last kill. They were still hungry and followed the scent of fresh blood all the way here. It was time to eat.

Back inside, Asche constantly tossed and turned, sweating before the end of his horrific nightmare broke him awake. His entire body rose as he looked around, vision blurry. Sound far off in the distance. Like he was in a dream, though he knew he was awake. ". . Roselle. . ?" Softly he'd question, head then turning to EZ whom was with her. "EZ. . . I'm sorry. . You both had to worry about me. ." Meek. Unlike the captain they knew - he was fighting his hardest but how much longer could he go? Then the sounds above alarmed him. Mashing and crashing. Diabolical creatures from hell were here and they were knocking. Maybe it was the feeling that they were coming. That something was off. But he wasn't going to stand much for it. Whatever these things were, they weren't going to threaten his crew. ". . Roselle. . " Momentarily ceasing, his eyes would shake for a moment and only a moment, then turned to this almost dull color. "I love you. ."

That's when it occurred. As one of the rabbits tore through the upper deck to look down, Asche had grasped his katana not too far from him. Up he went, rising then leaping at once to give the creature a fierce uppercut and send it flying into the sea. Several others stood where he'd met them, but the Captain didn't seem worried. No, in fact he smiled merrily as he unsheathed his katana.

"I'm goin' to kill you all."

                                                Roselle Stark

XXX Even though she'd never been particularly close to Nefertari, Roselle was certainly relieved that he was there to assist with lifting Asche and bringing him back to his room. "Thank you.." She'd do her best to help support his weight as well, though she wasn't much help considering she was shorter than both men. As her crewmate turned back to look at her, she'd nod and move past him, sitting at the edge of their Captain's bed so that she could tend to him. With Asche incapacitated, she'd found herself turning more and more to Nefertari for decision making, and she felt confident in his ability to get them to the island safely. After that, trying to get the cure for Asche's illness hopefully wouldn't be too difficult.. The Skypiean's resolve at the very least was set in stone. This was absolutely one thing she could not fail.

Using one hand to brush Asche's hair from his face, she'd glance up and offer a faint smile to EZ who had come to assist by placing a cool washcloth over the man's forehead. "Wonderful job, Ezekiel, thank you.." On top of Nefertari's steadfast personality, she was equally grateful for Marshall and EZ trying to lighten the mood of the ship as they had traveled. Without the small glimmers of warmth and laughter, she might have folded days ago. The Doctor ran her fingers gently through Asche's hair, frowning and looking on in worry as he tossed and turned. Perhaps it would be best if she mixed up a medicine for him to help him sleep as well. Just as she was about to reach for her medical bag, the man sat up and Roselle once more turned her full attention to him, resting a hand lightly on his back. "We're right here.." Her words were soft as she moved to push the man slowly back to lay down again, though even in his weakened state he was not easy to move. "You don't have to apologize. Everyone needs to be taken care of at some point or another.. It's our turn to take care of you now."

Smiling at him, she continued trying to push him back to bed. "You still need to rest. I'll give you something to drink that will help with your fever, okay?" Instead of complying, he turned to her, meeting her gaze, suddenly confessing his love for her. The young woman's eyes widened, her heart skipping a beat at his words, but there was little joy that she felt in the moment. The look in his eyes dulled after he'd finished speaking, and Roselle gave his shoulders a light shake, concern in her voice as she addressed him. "Asche...?" He was so ill and weak at the moment, and she'd never seen him look like this before.

The sudden sound of crashing and broken wood caused the Doctor to yelp, her immediate response bringing herself closer to Asche to defend him first. He was her patient, after all. Such a reaction seemed to be unneeded it seemed, considering the man simply stood up and leaped away to deal with the sudden influx of enemies about the ship. "Asche!" This was the last thing he needed to be doing right now! Grabbing her bag, she'd rush off to the upper deck, doing her best to avoid the horrifying bloodstained creatures that had invaded. Once she was close enough to ensure Asche would be caught up in it, Roselle dropped to her knees, touching her palm to the floorboards.

                                                "「 R O O M 」"

And now this area belonged to her. "Sorry, but you need t-!" As one of the creatures leaped at her, she'd enlarge and curl her wings around herself, hardening her feathers so that the claws clashed harmlessly against her, sending the beast tumbling away as she unfurled her wings. "You need to lie down!!" The young woman's hair elongated, seemingly sinking into the floor of this space she now controlled. A moment later the locks of her hair would pierce upward through the floorboards, wrapping tightly around the monsters caught up in her technique, forcing them down against the ground so they could no longer move around. The more they struggled, the more they seemed to be secured down, her hair wrapping around them like a snake might coil around its prey.

Her beloved Captain was not spared from this either. Silky soft strands curled about Asche's legs, abdomen, and arms in an attempt to restrain his movements and pull him down to the ground. "I'm sorry, but this is for your own good!" Thicker strands attempted to reinforce their holding, trying to yank the large man to his knees while Roselle pulled out various vials from her bag, shakily filling a syringe with a couple of different fluids. Once complete, she'd stand and rush toward Asche, leaping up and jumping onto his back, plunging the needle into his jugular vein, pushing the plunger down to dispense the medication. "Go to sleep!"

They had finally made it to Bighorn. This was the place said to have the remedy that their captain needed to recover from his affliction. Nefertari would dock the ship on the side of the island, away from prying eyes. They were still wanted pirates and a fight was something they were hoping to avoid. As he would finish docking, the ocean hound would approach and share a small amount of wisdom with him. The copper-toned viper always forgot how wise the water hobo was despite being somewhat naive when it came to the customs of those not from Skypiea.

Though he would speak from a kind place, Nefertari’s response would be the same. Somewhat emotionless but greatful for the attempt. He’d crack a slight smile and make a simple nod to acknowledge the attempt but not much else. It didn’t help him at all. The issue wasn’t finding someone...it was that someone finding him as well. It made no difference who he found if they weren’t looking for him also. Delicate fingers would comb strands of white behind his ears as he would look towards the wind at the island.

”I suppose going main land will be required to retrieve the medicine.” An obvious statement but one to fill the silence. Silence equaled thought and thought equaled sadness. He’d rather not think. As verdant hues would peer into the snow, seeking answers, they would soon glimpse rapid movement. Before he could make out what they were, the giant white rabbits would be upon them. They burrowed holes into the ship as well as climbed onto the deck. They were ravenous and looked hungry.

Nefertari would leap back as one would pounce and attempt to drive its claw into him. It’d miss and pierce the deck with its monstrous strength. Unsheathing his blade, he’d cover half his face with the flat side, peering at the beast before him. It was time for action! The beast would lunge at the male but he would simply dash to the side but as it would turn to try and pounce again it would fall. A venom serpent had bitten it as it passed the male’s form. Too easy.

Just then, an unfamiliar woman would scream from the deck just below where the ships wheel was. Nefertari would look down and see a woman cornered on their ship. He’d dash down and land behind the great beast and slash its back, injecting paralytic venom into it. As it would fall, he would stare at the woman. ”Who are you...” She would speak her name and the explain the circumstance surrounding her presence on the ship but as soon as she would mention the hound the desert flower would lift a finger to his lip, signaling her to be quiet.

He was visibly aggravated having allowed her to speak and would simply say, ”Go find the dog and stay with him. We don’t need random blood on our ship...” She would run off soon after that and the male would turn to face three more beasts. Fighting face to face with his opponent was bad enough but 3 on 1 made the chances of coming out of this unscathed even less likely. Nefertari’s visage, however, would remain emotionless. Ever ready to take on what ever challenge laid before him...for he had nothing to lose...

                                                            Marshall

                                                            Quiet. Things were very quiet.

Marshall had made his way back to his room, only to find Scarlett missing. Where had she gone? Probably to look for him, after all, she had woken up and he wasn't there. His ears wiggled slightly, picking up noise. Crashing. Above. The skypiean looked up and squinted his eyes. Something was on the ship. Large and possibly hungry. His hairs stood on edge as he heard the sounds of his crewmates engage in combat. Scarlett! The woman was missing and there were beasts running amok on the ship. Not the most ideal scenario. This is what he was talking about, the last thing he needed was some woman he had just met dying the next day. He ran down the hall, only to be stopped by a creature barreling into the immediate vicinity. It was...a rabbit? Marshall halted and stared at the strange creature, as it proceeded to turn itself towards him. Everything about this creature screamed danger to Marshall, his instincts shooting off like firecrackers. The creature's ears wiggled, its gaze rested upon the man and it lowered itself onto all fours.

It leaped off the ground like a missile and Marshall vaulted over the creature as it crashed into the wall behind him. He took a couple steps back and almost crashed into Scarlett.

"W-where were you! You weren't in the room when I came back!" He exclaimed, grabbing her by the shoulder lightly.

"You weren't either! I just wanted to see where you were!" She replied, her eyebrows knitting into a concerned look. "Your injuries looked very serious! I didn't know if you-" Her sentence was cut short as the creature roared and lumbered towards the two. Marshall shoved her behind him and tried to come up with a plan.

"Listen. You need to hide. I'll lure this thing away. Go find a pink-haired woman." Marshall shouted behind him as the creature broke into a full sprint. "GO!!!" She ran off in search of the described woman and the Skypiean was left to contend with the beast. He braced himself as the beast slammed into Marshall, launching him upwards through the ceiling onto the deck. Marshall managed to grab onto the mast and hung there, dangling from the frame of the sail. He watched as the giant rabbit creature shot out from the hole towards him with its claws outstretched. Swinging up onto the post, Marshall propelled himself off of it, over the creature just enough to grab its ears as throw it down into the water with all his strength. He floated down to the deck and took notice of the damage that the ship had sustained. Turning his attention to the place that they had docked at, he could see more of those creatures on the way. A single beast led the charge, it was significantly larger, its fur thicker and had two scars lining the side of its face. Marshall leaped onto the railing of the ship and began to stretch, "I'll keep these things from sinking the ship. You and Roselle should probably get to finding that cure. Shouldn't keep the captain waiting after all."

With that, Marshall hopped off the ship and onto land, breaking into a full sprint.

"Shehehehehehehe~ C'mere!" An omnimous voice spoke from those lips as blood coated his blade. Again the slash met flesh of yet another creature, toppling it over to fall towards the floor but not before Asche's foot met with it's skull. The crunching of matter and remnants of bone only caused him to smile an even creepier smile, as if enjoying all of this. They all watched. Stared. Realizing now that they weren't the only beasts within the confines of this ship. Besides themselves, there was Marshal and besides him, there was another behemoth who'd been sleeping. But they'd done the wrong thing and woken him up. Even if it were by accident his presence spoke for itself. As another ran forward to attack his hand grasped the things head, slowly crushing it as it'd finally come to pop, like a grape and toss it over to the rest of its friends. The lumbering monster kept on this rampage, killing these creatures in the most grotesque ways you could think of. Just as he was done ripping ones heart from its chest, the hair from Roselle latched on, but there was no resentment from Asche. In fact he turned, body towards her as she leaped and landed instead in his arms.

Against her neck she could feel him, tears running down the side of his face as the onslaught came to an end and the syringe dug into his flesh. It'd take a few moments for the drug to hit but in that time she'd hear him. Afraid. Never had he sounded so afraid. "Just. Kill. Me." What was he?! A monster! He had to be a monster. All those things dead and he felt no remorse. He didn't feel bad. And even as he spoke that, if she'd get the chance to look at his face she'd see between those tears was that same smile he was wearing. Eyes still just as dull - but finally everything went to black and the lumbering giant came crashing down onto the deck. Sleeping. . somewhat, if you could call that sleep.

                                                Roselle Stark

XXX Bloody. That was the best way to describe the carnage in the area Roselle and Asche were currently in. Within the confines of her "room" it almost did look as if it had been a surgical suite for an operation that had gone very, very wrong. Truly it was a horrific sight to watch, and a fighting style that the doctor felt didn't fit her Captain at all. He was so vicious and cruel. His attacks weren't done to kill efficiently, but to bring about as much pain as possible before their death. "A-Asche, stop! Please!" More than just concern over his current health, she couldn't stand watching him move around like this. Tears welled up in her eyes as she looked on, frozen with disbelief and fear. What was he doing?! The man was lighthearted and kind, not some sort of monster! She'd tried to stop him the best that she could, but Asche was already deeply stained with blood by the time she reached him, surprised to feel him catch her in his arms.

As he held her and pressed his face into her neck, the blood of the beasts stained her clothing as well, and Roselle looked confused upon feeling the wetness of his tears against her skin. Knowing that he was crying made her own tears spill over, as afraid and distressed as he was. She'd never seen Asche cry or sound so afraid, and the words he spoke were heartbreaking. With a quiet gasp she'd throw her arms around him, hugging him tightly while shaking her head. "No, no, no.." There was no way she could do something like that. She needed him by her side. As her medicine took hold and he began to fall, she fell with him, once more fluffing up the feathers along her wings to ensure that even as he hit the ground his impact would be soft. Pulling herself from his grip, she stared down at him for a moment as she cried, then sniffled and forced herself to stop her moping. She didn't have time to sit and weep. She had to get the medicine for Asche.

Thinking about that brought a glimmer of hope. Maybe this rampage was just a side effect of Asche being sick! Once he was treated, everything would go back to normal! "Ah.. Nefertari?" Once more she called out for the man to help her drag their Captain back to his room, pausing to wipe some of the blood from Asche's skin before she turned to leave with her crewmate. "O-Okay.. I'm ready, let's go." And with that she would depart the S.S. Maribel in search of the cure.

The wind was howling like the swirling storm inside of Nefertari. Snow fell rapidly and danced about violently. The blizzard outside of the ship was probably why those rabbit like creatures were able to get the drop on the crew. Roselle had decided to join him on his expedition into the frozen tundra for medicine. Though he would not express it, he did not approve. In fact, her very presence served as a reminder of what he would never possess.

He would walk ahead, the wind ruffling the silken fabrics adorning his form in a rage filled dance. The whiteout made it difficult to spot but his goal was still clear. A small forested area where most of this islands herbs derived from. This information was attained by here-say at the prior island and some old books on the ship but it was all he had to work with for now.

His disposition resembled the icy deluge the duo was pushing through. Cold and hostile. It was unlike a few moments ago when he was emotionless. He’d had time to fully gather his thoughts. To collect his feelings and understand the situation at hand. His captain was not willing to try a relationship beyond what they had... Whether it was do to his gender, his looks, or their current relationship was irrelevant. The end result was the same.

As they would approach the center of the wooded area, the trees would provide a very slight reprieve from the tundra. The bristles and leaves used to block most of the icy crystals that would otherwise smack into their skin at high speeds. In a small patch under multiple trees there would be green stems with white fluff coating up its length. To the untrained eye, it would just be grass covered with snow but Nefertari could see otherwise. They were the herbs they were looking for.

He would pluck some, pulling as close to the base as possible to remove the root and all. As he would turn to face Roselle, his demeanor would change. It was similar to how he used to be, harsh but somewhat friendly. Delicate fingers would place the medicine in her hands. ”He chose you...take the herbs back and save his life. You’re the doctor anyway.” His eyes would not look at her directly but this was as close to an apology and acceptance speech as Roselle was gonna get!

Just then stomping could be heard from the distance. The beasts were back! It was no wonder most people were unable to gather these herbs with creatures like these stalking them. Nefertari would turn his back on Roselle. ”I’ll divert their attention. Get the medicine back to the captain.” Without looking back, he could tell she was hesitating. There was no sound of movement coming from her direction and she was one to often worry. ”Go! Honestly, having you here would just serve to slow me down~!” His signature arrogant and condescending tone would be his way to put her at ease. It was a familiar tone. A tone used when everything was normal and right with the world.

After that he would take off towards the beasts, blade in hand! A tough battle to be sure but not one that would stop him from returning to the ship! Even if his captain didn’t desire him the way Nefertari desired his captain...he would still be there...he had to be.

                                                            Marshall

                                                            Marshall was having a blast.

There were a vast number of rabbit creatures running around to pummel and he'd taken the chance to treat it as a preliminary warmup. Their patterns were quite repetitive but well-coordinated. He ducked under a swipe and followed up with a downwards elbow, watching it sink into the ground with a large thud. Marshall took notice of Nefertari also springing into action, while Roselle prepared for the journey ahead.

He whipped his head back after hearing the booming footsteps of the pack leader. Marshall grinned at it, "Finally decided to rear that ugly face of yours huh?" The creature raised itself on its legs and let out a thundering roar in front of Marshall, its force almost pushing him backwards. In response, Marshall let out a growl that startled the larger creature and prompted it to attack first. It lunged forwards and Marshall leaped over it, grabbing onto its back and began to repeatedly punch until hunched over. He lifted it up, tossing it into the air and hit it with a solid kick as the creature descended, launching it into a nearby mountain face.

Rocks shifted as it rose and shook off the remaining debris. It roared again and glared at Marshall. "Tough guy, ain'tcha? We'll see how long that lasts."

( " MORE, MORE " ) The proper unit of measurement to approximate just how much had happened so quickly was, as proposed by the scientific and mathematic communities, one (1) ********> It was like drinking NyQuil and DayQuil at the same time to get Quil: All the Time, All The Time. So let's recap: one, Ezekiel basically earned a medical degree for making the executive decision to apply a critical Wet Towel to Asche's forehead. Two, a nice moment of solace wherein Her Pinkness and Roselle reaffirmed their trust and support for Asche. Three, Asche slaughtered massive ferocious rabbits with impunity, but also sort of implied he was going to murderize EZ and Roselle, too.

That's how Ezekiel ended up in the middle of a rabbit fight, a hare's breadth away from getting her ankles broken, while trying to make sure Roselle could do a proper job of restraining their newly minted Mad Captain. Of course this, of all things, happened the one time Ezekiel didn't have her gun handy. All she had was her Goe Goe no Mi, her wits, and Thaddeus. It was a measure of restraint and precision, dodging the daunting teeth of the rabbits as they lunged for her, and YEETing dangerous shrieks at them without piercing the ship. The rabbits were too ferocious to even risk exposing flesh to them. Ezekiel had resorted to fending them off with well timed shouts and furniture in between watching her captain absolutely decimate the creatures. All that blood and stuff, the whole organ removal thing? Now wasn't the time, but it was kinda hot, you know?

                          ...No?
                          Oh well.

Once Roselle managed to subdue Asche, even Ezekiel was touched by the raw fear in his eyes, in his voice. To call it a contrast would've been an understatement. There was a lot to unpack there, from the euthanasia request down to the way he seemed entirely ready to cleave the ship in two just a moment ago. Ezekiel had to compartmentalize that and press forward. She tucked in the now-unconscious Asche and followed Roselle to the ship deck, but was intercepted by Marshall's current Boo Thang. She looked properly panicked--which made sense. If she was bothered by the general appearance of Her Pinkness (bloody enough to look like a walking menstrual cycle), she didn't show it. However, she took no time in relaying Marshall's request unto Ezekiel. Protection! That was the name of the game! Scarlett couldn't have come at a better time--Ezekiel was just about to head to her room for her gun! Now, with Scarlet in tow, she made the trek back to her room for her shooty stick, and then headed on back to Asche's quarters to make sure nothing...else happened.

Specifically, to make sure Scarlett and Asche didn't get chewed on while the rest of the crew scoured the earth for herbs.

During the brief silence between the groans of the ship and the pitch of combat overhead, Ezekiel awkwardly commenced...The Talk, with special guest Scarlett.
"So, uh. You an' Ocean Dog. You two been having a good time? You touched his muscles yet? Figured out if he's got a favorite n****e?"

                          「STR 13 . PRO 20 . DEF 8 . SPD 19 . STA 7 . VIT 10」
                          「HP: 100/100 . STA: 100/100 . SPI: 0/0 」: Goe Goe no Mi
                          Wordcount:
                          523 + 323 = 846 of 750
