Tamiya had received a missive from the Queen mere nights ago. Apparently, some highbloods in Four Fronds were put out. Some lowblooded psionic was mucking with the Hunts, ruining the fun, and generally causing disruption. Finally, the pestering had gained enough ground that Regina had sent for the juggalo. Someone ghostly in the woods needed hunting – who better than the faithful clown herself?

She was dressed in compact charcoal garb, outfitted with a steel bladed club that glittered jet black in the light flickering through the Four Fronds canopy.

“Listen up you vicious spittletrolls. This is no regular trot – remember your places. Seek. I am the judgement, like my ancestors before me. I am the subjugglator here, do not forget that.”

Before Tamiya stood a frightening assortment of trolls. A juggalo from her sect, two Four Fronds hunters, and a handful of military drones in uniform.

“I will make this trumpetbleating clear. Our target is a young greenblood infidel, likely gifted with some kind of unholy ability that allows it to flutter and prance around the goddamn ******** murderwoods unnoticed. Obviously, they have been utilizing their dumb-a** blessing for treason, disrupting the natural order of life itself, and so on and so (goddamn) forth. These two huntstrolls here have tracked its wretched hive. Once there, we will surround the hive, draw the greenblood out, and detain it justly. We will then destroy the hive, so as to avoid trolls using it for refuge. Understood?”

Confident nods met Tamiya’s requests. One of the hunters, a bandy blueblood, rested her hands on her belt. Her exposed face and neck were thoroughly covered in scratch marks, hair shaved up the sides and in a thin matted braid on top. “Just one question. ‘S a pretty young blighter, probably’s got a lusus in there somewhere. We detaining that too?”

Tamiya ran a hand across her club and gave the hunter a quick nod. “There are no orders to detain the lusus; exterminate it if necessary. Let’s move out.”

Many sweeps had passed, many hunted trolls had come and gone. It was a gorgeous night, Rianon sat on one of the decks of the higher level of her hive, peering at the stars and moons. She was sipping a cup of aromatic tea as Crowma rested in the branches next to her. The hive, which was built around an ancient tree, offered a very serene space, as well as many perching prospects for the greenblood's lusus.
It was nights like these that let the little witch take a moment to breathe and reflect. For some reason the faces of the trolls she had helped out of the hunts kept swimming around her thinkpan. Some faces were bursting with tears, gratitude, others with scowls, reluctance, and many with nothing more than simple fear. Not only had interfering with these hunts saved hundreds of trolls, but it helped to remind Rianon just how beautiful and diverse Mother Alternia truly was. Sure, it was easy to fling hate around (Rianon sure did it enough), but in the end it only further strengthened her ideals. With every troll saved, that saved potential. Potential for change, potential for love, potential for life.
Rianon set the cup and saucer on the heavily grained planks next to her, smoothing her dress as she crossed one boot over the other. Sighing softly she reached over to her loving, if not mysterious, lusus and drew her own face nearer to rest on Crowma's beak.

Her charge had grown so much, she was strong willed, she often disobeyed her wishes, but any good parent knew their child would never listen to them fully. Crowma was merely grateful that her constant warnings, and worries had caused Rianon to stay on the cautious side. It was nights like these that the treebeast could relax and spend time with her little greenblood. Her darling witch. The massive lusus flapped her wings, settling into the branches of the elder-tree. She cooed as Rianon rest her head against her own. The sound echoing around the domed hive, resembling the rustle of full branches in a gentle breeze.

Rianon mimicked her lusus' soft song, speaking the language of the treebeasts.
There had been many choices she made in her life that lead her to become the Four Frond's fabled Witch of the Murderwoods. She had always been prepared, dressing herself hemoanonymously when interfering with the hunts. Keeping any glimpses of her by the hunters to a minimum. Spiriting the hunted away as quickly as possible. Even her hive's location has been carefully chosen. On a small marshy island on the harsher side of the lake on the edge of the woods. One could not get there without boat, teleportation, or at the very least risking some very unpleasant parasites from the murky waters.
However, as prepared as Rianon had tried to be, she could never have imagined the events that would transpire that night. After all, a witch who could translocate at will was untouchable. Wasn't she?

Forest turned into marshlands as the trolls scoured around the lake. Finally, a sign of life. Tamiya muttered under her breath. “Hubris.”

“Over here.” The blueblood extended a thin arm beyond a thicket of trees. “We’ve prepared passage- it’s a b***h to get to, otherwise. Pursuit boats for primary squad are docked. Tersin’s swimming, and his lusus is available for whatever passage you need. I’ll be transferring the rest of the squad on my lusus. Sir, watch out, there’s—“

Soft jingling of cans rung out from underfoot. Tamiya swore in a coarse string of juggalo-isms and untangled herself from an alarm trap. Simple cans and noisemakers, a rudimentary system but effective. She retrained the grip on her club.

“Primary Squad, surround the hive. Secondary Squad, push forward. Destroy what is inside, push them out.”

Her cronies did as they were told. The two hunters gave eachother terse nods, and a squeeze on either arm. Both whistled, loud and piercing through the trees. Immediately their calls were heeded.

From below, something surfaced. The leathery, creviced back of a thorned gharial sloughed out of the mud, carried by scores of membranous locomotion appendages. The semi-aquatic lusus gave a low bellow and Tamiya stepped onto its back. “Easy… Mister…” Tamiya mumbled. Alternian fauna was not her strong suit.

Meanwhile, a series of screeching honks blasted from the canopies. “Up!” Roared the blueblood. “Everybody on – let’s take this ********’ grubsauce out.” An enormous, multi-headed heron ascended, and immediately the troops clambered onto its writhing back. The assault was on.

What serenity Rianon had been reveling in soon crumbled as the tinkling of cans and scrap metals rang into her sponge clots. "No..." she said softly, quickly standing and peering out of her balcony. What she saw made her pumpbiscuit sink like a stone. At first she only saw the figure of some troll tangled in her warning trap. She could have mistaken them for a lost hunt victim had the moons not been glimmering on the club clutched in their nubs. It quickly became apparent that it was no single troll, and this was not a group looking for a cup of tea.
The greenblood was already rushing down her staircase, skirt bunched up in a fist, as the screech of the heron lusus rang through the air. Crowma started to rustle, making warning noises that sounded much akin to trees falling like dominoes. "Just get in position to attack Crowma, but blend in. We have no reason to expect they know much. We can handle this." Rianon called to her lusus, wondering how much she believed it herself.
Crowma just knew a night like this would come one sweep. Her child's anti-crown activities had garnered too much attention. She had thought she had been stealthy enough. Perhaps it had only been a matter of time rather than any single slip up. The lusus let her vines dangle, she planted her talons and foliage firmly in the canopy of the hive's ancient tree. If they were going to find a way into the marshy island hive, they would have one big surprise waiting for them.
Meanwhile Rianon was gathering various bottles and baubles for battle. Her hands were shaking as she put her pendant potion necklace on, strapping her mystical bell to her hip along with various bottles of potions: smoke screens, acidic splashes, noxious fumes. Chemistry existed in nature, and to Rianon it was called Magick.
There simply was no time to snuff out all the candles lighting the domed hive, nor was there any time to change into her hemoanonymous clothes, she'd have to defend her homestead as herself. It was something that did very little to ease her nerves. Boline clutched in hand, the green witch hid herself away behind a bookcase. Steadying her breath she waited in anticipation. This was not going to be like the hunts of the past, she wasn't simply whisking away some unfortunate soul. This time, they were coming for her.

      Light footsteps.

It hadn't been long since Vremea had seen Rianon. They'd shopped together recently, and before that, even met each other right here in this very forest-- As Bellen, sure, but considering her appearance tonight, she'd know who she was soon enough. She'd observed and heard of her doings, helping trolls getting hunted. Had talked to her first hand, seen her own dedication to the cause without even knowing what she was doing. Vremea had warned her, and still. She persisted, continued to help.

This time, Vremea wasn't coming by accident.

Wearing a simple frock with yellow accents and her hooded cape, Vremea was ready to show her her true identity and ease the other into the rebel life. She'd been unsure about it at first, but after going over too many what if's and probabilities, she now knew the only way to help her was to have her join them. Train her for what was to come.

It didn't scare her any less.

Her feet traversed the woods lightly, hands clammy and mind reeling from slight anxiety-- There was to be no hunt, right? Nothing to interrupt this... But then, why did she feel so nervous? She knew the way, or at least, remembered most of it, and... And... The more she approached the hive, the more she slowed down, hearing the sound of cans clinking together and feeling her pump biscuit stop. She had-- Guests? Wait, no no, who would come so deep in the for... Vremea's thought process stopped in tandem with her walk, seeing familiar sharp horns and a painted white, black, and purple face. A juggalo. No, not just a juggalo.

Tamiya. Vremea knew her only from Odette's words alone. She recognized her somewhat from afar, had never met her personally, and at this point, Vremea preferred it that way. Just the sight of her was enough to make Vremea's hairs stand on edge and duck behind a large tree. She wasn't alone, she had back-up-- This was a planned assult. Vremea had been just a smidgeon too late to get Rianon. She wasn't Bellen now. Her being there was dangerous, extremely dangerous, for her sake and the rebellions sake. She needed to leave, get out of there right now so she didn't get captured or trapped.

...But she is just a child. Vremea closed her eyes, sighing to herself as her mind raced and considered the options. It was stupid, completely thoughtless, but... She knew her answer before even asking herself the question. Why did she put herself in these situations? Tightening the hood around her neck and keeping her face as covered as she could, Vremea kept herself out of sight. She was going to help her, she deserved that much for all she'd done.

Tamiya watched as the drones beset upon the hive. One of the hunters pulled his long hair back and tied it off into a bun, revealing fins on either side of his head. “Sir.” He nodded to Tamiya, and dove deftly into the lake. The juggalo’s jaw tensed. All of her players were in action.

“Forward.” She commanded. “Standby for aquatic combat.”

She positioned herself in front of the hive as the crew ascended. The heron lusus crashed onto the balcony, beaks snapping wildly, wings thrashing. Immediately, the trolls riding the lusus hopped off and began to storm the hive. Whooping and hollering from the juggalo lead the assault. After the initial raiders checked each block, destruction followed.

“Where are you, kiddo? Ain’t gotta kill ya, just wanna talk…”

Outside, Tamiya closed her eyes. She lacked control in her abilities, but perhaps that could change. A red film began to develop behind her eyelids. Tamiya’s bloodpusher began to race.

It was peculiar how quickly time moved right after Rianon heard the tinkling of cans outside her hive. But, now the greenblood could swear a needle hitting the ground would take sweeps. Her pumpbiscuit was pounding, until the crash came through the balcony hearing the massive heron heralding the hoard of destruction into her hive. There weren't too many blocks in her hive. It felt open, natural, something peaceful if it weren't being torn apart at the time. It also didn't buy her very much time for their search of her. It was time to put the game face on.

After the lusus burst into the hive, Crowma sprang to defense. Unleashing a caw that sounded like splintering branches, she let her position be known as she descended raking talons and whipping vines at the drones, her main target was the other lusus. The treebeast tried wrapping her vines around the herons necks. No doubt there was some very territorial feelings bursing from Crowma, for both her charge and the hive.
The green witch wanted to jump from her spot the moment her lusus engaged, but she had to wait. She remained still and quiet until a pair of drones were in front of the bookcase, then using the wall as leverage she pushed forward, sending the bookcase toppling over them. Hopefully pinning them at the least. Once her position was compromised Rianon took a potion from her belt and shattered it on the ground, allowing a thick smoke to spread across the hive. One thing she was taking into consideration was the fact that she was on her home turf. Maybe if she disabled enough of them they'd withdraw. That was her hope anyhow as she teleported back to the upper level loft again, where she had last seen the juggalo. Wielding her boline, Rianon made a wide slash as she popped back to where she thought the target was at.

Crowma is going in for the kill, Rianon is not. Rianon is still not able to bring herself to finish a troll off. Just for clarity.

The enormous heron reeled from the tightly binding vines. Unable to fit into the hive, it thrashed about on the balcony. Its heads lanced this way and that – knocking its own allies to the ground as it shrieked. Its beaks smacked together in a tremendous cacophany. One of the heads snapped at its restraints, then became bound at the base of its skull with another. The two heads quickly began to suffocate. Screeching turned into choking gasps and then nothing as the bird flopped and struck out at Crowma with its other heads. The three living heads reared for a moment, hesitant and alarmed – communicating with each other. The brief pause was ended abruptly. Rearing back viper like, the three struck the base of their dead necks in perfect sync. Long scissor-like beaks sliced down, until the dead weight was released with a thick crack and a rivulet of blue blood that was thankfully staunched by Crowma’s stifling vines. The heron flapped its wings, aiming to escape into the air.

“Ma! ********’!” The blueblooded hunter snarled. “Shoot the damn crow!”

A few other drones produced their weapons, primarily military-grade blasters, while the hunter readied her own submachine gun. It wasn’t the most sporting, but this wasn’t exactly a sporting mission. She wasn’t ready to lose another.
--

Meanwhile in the hive, Rianon’s escapades had the drones on the rocks. Both of the drones she had aimed at screamed in dismay and surprise as the bookcase toppled over on them, while the rest scattered in an attempt to find her with no avail. Chaos reigned inside of the hive, with only the arrival of the seadwelling hunter calming the troops. He had since donned a gas mask. “She ports, you idiots, remember? Make yourselves useful and start destroying this place! No one’s coming back here.”

--

As Rianon re-appeared, she caught Tamiya’s juggalo companion by surprise. A shallow cut through the chest elicited a pained honk, and as tears sprung to the younger juggalo’s eyes she stumbled back and crossed her arms over her in fear. “T-Tamiya, sir! I’ve located her on the upper level loft! Engage!” She clicked her walkie off and reached down to her belt. “Don’t get any closer, uh! But don’t move! Or poof! You…! Murderer!”

--
Tamiya’s walkie crackled off. She centered herself on the back of the aquatic lusus, looking up at the immense hive above her. There was a very distinct target that she could see – Crowma was anything but subtle. A flying rat, born of the hunting grounds. Disgusting. If the girl insisted on hiding in her home, she would give her something to face her for or suffer the consequences. Call it a teaching moment.

The cerebral strain of chucklevoodoos fogged over Tamiya’s thinkpan. She raised a hand to the sky, looking over her fingers at the lusus in front of her, and released.

Unaru
Tamiya's goal is to attract Crowma's attention or incapacitate her, but primarily cause intense pain which is definitely a capability of the voodoos!

Having landed a shallow hit on the juggalo, Rianon took a brief moment to assess the current situation. The lower level was plunged into complete chaos, the smoke was still thick and the drones seemed unable to tell their craniums from their back ends. However, as a commanding voice broke through the din Rianon found herself frowning. Just how many trolls were on the attack? The witch may have guessed something like this might happen one night, but she would have never guessed that so many would be sent after her at once.
Before Rianon could consider what to do next, the young juggalo's words caught her by surprise. "Murderer?" she repeated incredulously, "Do you even know why you're all here? It's because I SAVE trolls. Maybe you should find out all the details before you sign up for something like this next time." Her dignity had just been brought into question, but there was no time for any more words to be spent on the misinformed juggalo.

Crowma had just done some sizable damage to the invading lusus, and she wasn't planning to idle as the heron tried to escape. She reared up further in the hive, aiming to strike the blue blooded lusus down as it tried to escape. Unfortunately, before she was able to mount any further attack, Crowma found something mentally assaulting her. The treebeast began to thrash as it rose into the air, sending branches and thatching shrapnel shooting into the lake below. Crowma writhed in the air, dipping and rising as the accosting chuckles stabbed at her mind. The lusus made horrendous sounds as she tried to find the source of the chuckles. It sounded like a storm raging through the woods, trees snapping, leaves whipping into a frenzy, and boughs endlessly creaking and cracking.

"Crowma?" Rianon's attention was snatched from the invading troll she had just slashed as her lusus whipped up a frenzy in the sky, taking out much of the roof and tree limbs as she did so. Something was very wrong. Not giving the trolls in her hive a second thought, the green witch teleported onto her lusus' back. As soon as she re-materialized it was like she was fighting a mechanical hoofbeast. "Crowma! Crowma, stop! What's wrong?!" She screamed as the growing thorns and branches raked against her as Rianon tried to stay on the back of her beloved lusus, completely unaware to Crowma's predicament. Having no luck calming the treebeast down, Rianon was too shocked at her normally calm lusus to teleport to safety as she was bucked off Crowma's back. The greenblood was sent hurtling into a treetop, taking a decent thwack here and there before she was able to steady herself amongst the foliage. Luckily she spent so much time hiding in trees that she wasn't too badly hurt, she was however shocked at Crowma's behavior. No, it wasn't right, something had to be making her lusus act like this. Making sure she still had all her appendages and suffered no serious damage, Rianon peered out of the branches to spot any incoming trolls, and to try and figure out who, or what, was messing with Crowma.

Vremea surveyed the situation from afar, watching the juggalo's team crash into the hive and wreck everything. She could almost picture the destruction from here... Reaching for the retractable scythe tucked into the folds of her dress, Vremea steadied her breathing, studying the purpleblood before her gaze darted to a sudden green poof on the upper level of the hive, watching Rianon slash at the younger female as the large tree lusus took to the skies, Vremea tensed at the sight of the bleeding juggalo. She clenched her teeth. There was no way they could get out of this without some bloodshed, that much was certain. Avoiding the fight would only render them prisoners. Vremea steeled herself, getting prepared to attack or just to find some way to summon Rianon and her lusus. From Vremea's view, there was feasibly no way to save the hive, but maybe, just maybe she could save the troll and her lusus.

It was then that Crowma began to thrash in the skies, and a certain purpleblood had her hand lifted at the lusus. Vremea flinched. What was she doing?! Vremea watched in horror as the greenblood poofed into view on top of the lusus, attempting to calm her down, only to fall in a tree nearby-- She tensed, hiding once more behind the tree. She looked up, clenching her teeth. How could she get her attention without making too much noise? If she was to help, she needed to be unnoticed. She could only assume Tamiya knew who she was, through Odette's booth or from Kursha himself. If she knew she was around, they'd all be on her and while normally she wouldn't mind that, she felt unsafe without any backup nearby. Maybe-- Vremea lifted her hand, hand beginning to glow softly. Hopefully that'd be enough. If it wasn't, maybe throwing a rock would work...

Even as the wounded heron made a noisy retreat, the strike team laid waste to Rianon’s home. The fearful juggalo sighed in relief as she was released from being anywhere near the witch, and returned to the rest of the squad to fully destroy her belongings. “Tamiya, sir!” She squeaked, her voice trembling from her wounds. “The hive is secure!”

Tamiya’s eyes were glossed over red, her focus unbroken. “Very well. The witch seeks to protect her unholy parent. I will ensnare her outside; turn the hive into sawdust and tear it down immediately. Send Bahsoo.”

“Yes sir.”

The subjugglator lifted two hands to the sky, golden fingers glittering. Another surge of psionics burst towards Crowma as the seadwelling hunter reappeared next to his own lusus. “You called?”

“Hook it for me.” She hissed.

Bahsoo, the seadwelling hunter, pulled himself sopping wet out of the marshy lake. Across his back was strung a deadly looking weapon, like a high-tech harpoon gun. He slung it over his shoulder and pulled back a thick lever – the results were immediate. Steam poured off of the wet machine, obscuring both the hunter and juggalo on the back of the stark white gharial. Tamiya felt the searing heat of the gun immediately. Even its presence next to her was enough to shake her concentration somewhat. The barb began to glow red hot. “Here she comes, then.” Clicked the seadweller. He leveled his vision onto the thrashing lusus in the sky and pulled the trigger.

Rianon gazed upon the scene. Her hive, being reduced to rubble, Crowma thrashing helplessly in the sky. It was horrific to be sure. There was no time to lament the loss of her home though, she had to locate the source of....that one. As the witch's mind raced she spotted the lead juggalo, she was directing the rest. The greenblood focused on her, did she have powers as well? Her eyes widened as the seadweller arrived and produced a monstrous mechanical weapon.
It was about this time that she finally spotted the glint of yellow flashing from the trees down below. Her gaze shifted momentarily, what was that? Wait, was it a troll? Was that their hand? Didn't Bellen's hand glow when she was healing? There was no way Bellen was around, was there? Just as she started trying to process this new information Bahsoo let the harpoon fly, striking Crowma clear through one of her wings, emerald green blood running down vines, branches, and leaves. The lusus screeched out in pain. It sounded like the entire forest was reverberating back at them. Crowma continued to thrash about as she was pulled in closer by the harpoon, and the intensifying mental assault from Tamiya.
"NO!" Rianon shrieked. They didn't just want to destroy her home, they didn't just want to take her in. They wanted to kill her mother. The greenblood flew into a blind rage. Teleporting once again, she landed on the back of the aquatic lusus with Tamiya and Bahsoo. Her face was twisted in anger and agony. As soon as she reappeared she looped the raggedy remains of her shawl around the seadwellers neck from behind, she pulled it taught and proceeded to try and strangle the hunter.
"Let her go," the girl growled through grit teeth. She kept glaring eyes fixed on Tamiya as she yanked on the shawl a few times, making sure there was no slack for the seadweller. Her mind raced, trying to think of something to say, a way to somehow convince them to let her and her lusus go. It was no use though, her stubbornness would never allow her to feign regret or groveling. She was too flustered, and with no time to plan she could only hope that Alternia would give them the strength to escape.

Vremea had been too late. She should've stepped in earlier. She watched in horror as harpoon slammed into the flying creature, blood pouring from the wound. Vremea felt her blood pusher fall as Rianon shrieked from above her, poofing into view on top of a hazy lusus, and, wait-- What was she doing?! Vremea stumbled out of hiding, extending her weapon to it's full height and releasing a loud yell. "Rianon, no!" She exclaimed, eyes wide and full of panic. Killing was not who she was, she was still, still a... She'd dropped all attempts to salvage the situation, panic taking hold of her pump biscuit as she quickly rushed to the shallow path, starting to cross the lake to take some sort of action against them, somehow. Vremea couldn't just stand back and watch!

Through the heavy steam surrounding her, Tamiya felt a presence – like a rush of breath, pushing against her entire body. The steam whipped up when Rianon teleported. Finally, her hunched, frizzy form appeared in front of the clown. She was smaller, simpler, weaker than expected.

Bahsoo would have thought differently given his current state. Surprised from behind, the hunter grabbed fruitlessly at the ragged shawl cutting off his airway. His gills fluttered and heaved, jaw tensing and jarring open like a fish out of water. He nearly lost hold of the harpoon gun when it was intercepted from him in a deft swipe. Now tethered by the deadly spear, there was no need to control her lusus with mental chaos. Tamiya focused her attention on Rianon.

The candy red fog in Tamiya’s eyes glossed over her grey irises, blotted the life out of her pupils. Sweat streaked rivulets of make-up dripped off of her chin, the focus required to cast her own curse upon the so-called-witch causing a physical toll.

“Submit and your lusus lives.” Tamiya offered. Her voice was strained and tight as all of her energy poured into an incapacitating psychic attack. If they could not bind the slippery witch’s body, she would reduce her mind to nothing.

Holding the cloth firm in her hands, Rianon could feel the shawl biting at her palms. The anger at seeing Crowma tormented had sent her on a war path. As the haze lifted she was able to make out the face of the troll who was orchestrating this attack on her. The image instantly registered in her long term memory. "What's your name juggalo?" Rianon snapped. She sure had a lot of bark for a little witch.
The greenblood had almost forgotten the seadweller choking by her hand, until the juggalo snatched the harpoon gun from him. In a fit of rage she tightened her grip, they deserved this pain, he deserved it. It was only when Rianon heard a familiar voice from the rear side of her island that she faltered. Once she realized she was trying to kill Bahsoo, her hands released him from her shawl. "No," she muttered, "it's not right."
As soon as her eyes lifted from the hunter back to the juggalo, Rianon saw the red fogging over her eyes before the chucklevoodoos hit their mark. The greenblood barely had time to register the juggalo's ultimatum before letting out a shrill scream that echoed over the lake. She grabbed at her horns as the chuckles, the doubts, the fear, the assault rang through her head. It wasn't a pretty sight, yet surprisingly Rianon managed to stay on her feet.
Released from the chucklevoodoo, Crowma returned to her senses but remained tethered. The treebeast struggled against the harpoon, but as soon as Rianon received the mental attack Crowma dove at Tamiya, lashing at her with thorny vines. It seemed the greenblood got her fighting spirit from her lusus. Unfortunately, Crowma was still badly wounded and didn't have much room to maneuver while still on the harpoon gun's line.
