To say that her awakening had been tough would have been an understatement, but the true trial had yet to come. Her uncertainties surrounding her existence aside there was the matter of how she would come to communicate with the other inhabitants of this world. So far she had mastered nodding and shaking her head at appropriate intervals but there was more to conversing than simple yes or no answers. How would she share her interests or the many thoughts desperately seeking a way out of her mind? How could she ever possibly dream of connecting with another without words to draw them in?

Her heart sank ever lower with each passing moment and that too disturbed her for she could not even share her fears and frustrations with another. Instead she would be locked forever in her mind, unable to vocalize what lay beneath her frightening exterior. A deep chill began to form in the pit of her stomach and she suddenly felt an overwhelming sensation of fear wrack her to her very core. She would be forever alone and unable to speak, she would be destined to be feared and misunderstood. What kind of cruel joke was this?

She attempted to ignore the lump forcing its way up her throat and making it difficult for her to breathe, but she was eventually forced to curl up upon the bank of the lake she had been frequenting. Here she would shiver and silently cry, a small part of her wishing someone would chance upon her and see fit to enquire about her wellbeing. It was not as though she could truly respond though. Instead she would look like some sort of frighteningly sorrowful phantom haunting an otherwise beautiful scene.

Squeezing her eyes closed she coiled herself into an even tighter ball and began to wish she could just fold into smaller and smaller shapes until she simply vanished. She was already practically invisible, so why not just allow her to fade away? Why had she been woven this way? Had the Grand Weaver simply made a mistake? If so she wished it would be rectified immediately. “Disappear.” She thought. “Dissipate back into the silent darkness from which you came.” Her inner voice grew stronger, more desperate. “Disappear.”

Just as every day, it had been a day of learning for the new Tahtlil, Elijah. The Omen as he was called, though blind had found he really enjoyed life and the world around him; The others, the air, pleasant sounds to his ears, but above all he enjoyed the water. Which is why the ebony stared b'alam could be found wondering the side of the Mirror lake, where he was first woven. A place where he had heard of other that had been woven along side him. It was strange that he had yet to see...to hear them since that fateful night. Tah Chaucer and Tah StillWater did say there was others.

Dark star spotted tail dangled in a carefree hike as his little trot carried him along the water's edge. The fresh crisp fragrance of water filled his senses along with the sensation of another spirit nearby. Mentally the sightless b'alam made note of such a thing. Taking in a deep breath though his maw, he could smell her-she was close and her scent was faintly familiar.

How strange, apart of Eli wondered if the nearby other would let him know that she was near. He already knew she was, though he couldn't see her.

Suddenly, Elijah's paw steps where caught up by what felt like a soft-though soiled stone. His world was toppled as he felt his body stumble awkwardly. It happened so quickly; His agile woven body landed on top of the lumpy 'stone', and rolled off to the side. Water quickly washed over his body, he felt his back side and hunches become drenched as he fumbled about. Tail whipped around as he tried to regain his paws. Along with the pathetic sight, a 'urp' of laughter left the soaked and struggling Tahtll.

As his word straightened and stilled, Eli's dark pelt and crimson paws stilled themselves in the water. Dark ears turned back and swiveled about. Going over the event in his thoughts, he realized something-that 'stone', he..now that he thought about it...it had breath? That and he had walked this path serval times. He knew nothing was usually there, perhaps something watched up-or maybe not?

"I am so sorry." The water b'alam stumbled out as he regained his paws, his body laid out in the water and his silver and blue locks fell disheveled over his closed gaze. Sand and dirt dripped from soaked maw, it parted as a worry swept over him.

"Is anyb'alam there? If you are, are you okay?" Dark ears turned about, as his head and rest of his body remained perfectly still.

Silence had become so absorbed in her wallowing that she hadn’t even taken notice of the presence that was drawing nearby. Everything had become a haze of tears and ill wishes which left little room for anything else. A small, very distant voice kept attempting to reassure her by telling her that the world wasn’t as horrid as she believed it to be and that wishing for oneself to disappear was far from the answer, but she kept this voice neatly locked away in the corner of her mind. Though she found wisdom in the words she was also harmed by them as they represented the one thing she would never be able to do, speak.

In an instant, the gloomy curtain presiding over her turned to dread as something heavy landed atop her and vanished just as quickly leaving only the sound of a splash as evidence as to its fate. Silence scarcely had time to catch her breath before she had unwound herself and leapt to her feet, her crimson gaze frantically scanning the area before coming to rest upon a great, black, soaking figure standing unsteadily in the lake. First there was laughter, then a statement which was followed by a question and Silence found herself utterly petrified.

As she stood there staring at him and feverishly attempting to devise her next move she realized something, this was the same Tahtlil she had awoken with. Further introspection reminded her that he could not see which caused her panic level to heighten all the more. How was she to communicate with him? He could not see her nod nor shake her head! Her only means of communication had vanished, leaving her vulnerable and helpless before him.

She contemplated fleeing but at the same time something within her made her want to stay. Perhaps the lonely part of her was reaching out, and what a time it had chosen to do so. The why did not matter so much as the how at this moment and she chose to focus on that. Her head turned this way and that as she looked desperately for some way to make herself known, but nothing appeared to be the solution she sought.

In an uncharacteristic moment of bravery, she stepped forward, her paws making light splashing sounds as she went. She knew that would not be enough, for how could anyone glean the intentions of a stranger from splashes? She could just as easily have been mistake for a fish at that matter. Her heart raced as she extended her neck and pressed her head into his shoulder. “Hello.” She thought, her heart hoping with every beat that her silent prayer would somehow be answered.

As Elijah remained perfectly still, His ears quietly perk and twisted about. His nostrils flared silently as his head raised as if to help grasp more of the scent the air, his maw parted to taste the scent more on his tongue. Water. Dirt. Fish, algae..and the distinct smell of wet dander. There was a sharp uneasy sensation of panic in the air as well...

Ears flicked to attention as the slush of water sounded right in front of him. His maw closed, and his dark rail started to shifted in the water. His eyes remained closed, there was no reason for them to ever open after all.

"Hel-" The words started to leave his maw and throat once more, before he was startled by a pressing sensation on his soaked shoulder. His body flinched, it wasn't harmful by any means and it was only because the touch was unexpected. The Tahtlil wasn't fearful, he had no reason to-aside from falling, nothing had ever instilled such a thing into him; but in regards to falling...he could always get up and had yet to be harmed.

Elijah halted his breathing, as he tried to take in everything that was relayed to him in such a gentle touch against him. Quickly his thoughts went over simple questions like: Why didn't they say anything? Who where they? what where they?

Dark tail shifted behind him as his maw slowly closed. There was a slow swallow that still any words that may want to leave the Omen. The touch had so much emotion in it, it was desperate....sad. By the nob that touch and pushed aside his fur, he knew they were Water, as he felt the orb nestled between what he knew as ears. Their Spirit was that of a Nahtlil, the other half of his Tahtlil. (If they where matching, he could not tell such a thing...not yet.) Yet, there was no words to come from her, which was strange-considering-every one in the water tribe knew he couldn't see....and needed the admittance of words when interacting with him. All...but one, he knew could talk, and one only knew...Silence.

Tah Chaucher had made mention to inform him of all that where woven when he was. There had been others that fateful ominous night. Unfortunately there was so much Eli had taken to want to learn, he had yet had any time to interact with any of them....

"You must be, Silence." Elijah's soft words left his maw confidently. It had to have been her. Dark tail slipped behind him.

"I tripped over you, didn't I?" The Tahtlil's smiling maw faulted a little as his ears naturally shifted down as he expressed a natural body signal. Which was odd, for someone that was blind and never saw such indicators.

"-I didn't hurt you did I?" Eli's ear turned back, as he thought of something. She couldn't talk....

"Touch my other shoulder if I did. I will be sure to find you some help-if I did."

He hoped he hadn't, Elijah hated the idea of hurting another....It just wasn't in him to do so.

Each torturous moment opened within Silence a new rift of uncertainty as scenario after scenario played out in her mind. At the least she expected to be swatted or growled at, after all she was invading his personal space and acting in a way that could be considered overly familiar for the situation. She would not blame him if he were to shake her off or shove her away, maybe even scold her for her impropriety. But, as it turned out, the one scenario that did not even cross her mind was the one to win out in the end.

Though he flinched it was not a motion indicative of his wish for her to move away but rather a natural reaction to being touched without expecting it. He did not react violently nor behave in a manner that lead her to believe he was disturbed by her presence, instead he did something that brought tears of joy to her eyes, he said her name. She released the breath that had been caged inside of her since encountering this Tahtlil and allowed for her body to relax. “Thank you.”

She slowly lifted her head away from his shoulder so that she could observe him better as he spoke. He was a handsome Tahtlil, there was no doubt about that, and one could certainly tell they were both awakened on the night of the blood moon. Both wore unusual markings that spoke of terror and a dark beauty, and she had never felt more comfortable in her own skin than she did at this very moment because of that. Even his closed eyes sparked within her a feeling of kinship as it was reminiscent of her eternally silenced voice.

With a smile, she pressed her jeweled forehead against the same shoulder indicating that he had not hurt her. Something she once thought impossible was made possible as she carried on a silent conversation with the Tahtlil, and it made her want more. She wanted to ask him questions, wanted to laugh with him and tell him about the world he could not see, but how? For now, touching his shoulders was all she had, but if he allowed perhaps they could come up with something more involved in the future.

If she were able she would have been purring in this moment as, for the first time, she was overwhelmed with joy. Her head had begun to move without thinking as she allowed the happiness to consume her and she soon found herself rubbing her forehead up and down on his shoulder like a kitten nuzzling a companion. She would have stopped but that would have meant abandoning the happiness and embracing fear once more.

Elijah remained perfectly still as he waited the answer of the Nahtlil. His breathing slowed and his maw parted with anticipation, his dark ears twitched ever so slightly to the soft dripping of water that touched back into the mirror lake.

Ears perked and widened as he felt the soft touch of Silence's crown on his same shoulder. Not the opposite one that he had instructed but the same one. Was she okay then? She wasn't hurt? Dark tail shifted though the glistening water of the lake, his hearing concentrated on her breathing. The feeling of her heart beat though her skull, but there was something more that rattled though his body as she nuzzled against him. Purring.

A smile curled on Eli's maw, oh good-he hadn't hurt her.

"Well, I take it you are not harmed." Eli spoke, his head raised a little-a curious natural habit for him. He found it helped with keeping his sense open. That and the smile remained on his maw. "That is a good thing." The worlds left his maw in a soft chuckle.

"If I may...." The Tahtll spoke as his larger body started to shift from his lay the water, he carefully requested a mild pardon for the movement.

As long dark legs rose the b'alam to his full height, Eli's head remained unmoved as his ears where already best focused to hear what was and who was around him.

"Are you by yourself, Silence?" Eli didn't think the question was rude to ask, after all he couldn't see-and he was already rude enough in tripping over the poor dear. He didn't want to leave anyone else ignored.
