ISOBEL PENROSE
HESITANT WALLFLOWER

Isobel is a sweet girl who tries her hardest, but also tends to be a bit of an awkward turtle when it comes to interacting with other people thanks to her self-doubt and the shyness it's brought. Bright and imaginative, she loves all things magical and very much wants to believe that magic is real, but tends to get caught in doubts - the very bane of her existence. She's doing her best to change and become more positive in her outlook, and is also attempting to combat her shyness so she can make some friends here in Ashdown.

SHY

Isobel has trouble connecting with others for the simple fact that she's terrified of talking to other people, leaving her unhappily reclusive outside her family - strangers are scary, acquaintances are scary, everyone's really freaking scary. It's a hard barrier to overcome. She's really a very kind soul but often her shyness prevents her from acting on her impulses, leaving her hesitating for just a moment too long to actually help someone. But something's got to change, and she's slowly getting pretty sure it's her. Having had few friends and even fewer close friendships, her mom hopes the move to Ashdown might be a fresh start for her - and Tibbie really, really hopes the same. This time she'll be braver... right?

CAT CONVENIENT

Any place welcomes Madam Nibbs the cat when she is out and about with Isobel; no having to wait outside for this kitty!

ANYTHING ELSE?

Larger personality write-up:

Tibbie's planner is her bible, everything colour coded and written out in advance - it's just that, well, the schedule is a bit bare. The days lack activities, mainly thanks to her shyness and hesitance to put herself out there, and the lines are filled more with whimsical thoughts and stick-figure drawings of magic plants and creatures than fun playdates with friends.

Tibbie is lonely, and it's recently occurred to her that this is no-one else's fault but her own. But how do you change 19 years of habitually second-guessing yourself and your interactions? It doesn't really help that her first tendency is always to think negatively, but she's trying really hard to be more positive - to take more action in her own life. Like approaching people and striking up a conversation, which is hard when you're an awkward turtle that has a tendency to flit from idea to idea and trail off mid-sentence only to suddenly start on a whole new topic. A lot of things pique her curiousity and she likes knowing how things work - but drawing up the courage to pursue her curiousity is another thing.

Imagination is what fills most of her days, daydreams and books and whatever media she can get her hands on. Tibbie loves magic, loves the idea of being special and chosen and destined, but she's also very afraid that it's all a bit of hogwash - and even if it was true, it'd never be her, right? She's no-one special (but gods, how she wishes she was). In everything she's a pessimist trying to be optimistic, and the results are mixed.

Still, she's committed herself to changing and once Isobel sets her mind to something, really sets her mind to something, she'll see it through come hell or high water.
________________

-19 years old, grew up in Denmark but her mom is of welsh descent; Isobel grew up speaking both danish and english and has inherited her mom's welsh accent, if only more diluted and influenced by the english spoken in media.
-She really wanted to get into witchcraft and even gave a few beginner spells a go but absolutely nothing happened. Zero. Zilch. Out of fear that this might be the definitive nail in the coffin for magic, Isobel's since left it alone, to be gazed at with adoration from a safe distance.
-The real Trouble for Tibbie is actually 'doubt', but since it's such an over-arching theme in her personality I'm planning on tackling it in sections; her problems with being social first, then working on her confidence issues, etc. (the order of this will be more organic and following ic developments!)
-Appearance: very pale skin, freckled, green/blue eyes, pink hair (hair colour and length, pls give her bangs, for example like facecast's), slender. really likes mori girl fashion. facecast | so many outfits | hair accessories and styling inspiration
