The larger triangles would be easier to do and require less precision, however the details of the smaller ones might turn out a nicer product in the end. confused

As for trying to determine how much fabric I'll need...
The amount of light blue and dark blue is the same. Essentially six "diamonds" worth, or twelve 12" equilateral triangles.
If I find a pattern that's bolt is 36", I could get five triangles out of each row, so I'd need at least 31.5" (aka a yard would be safe). If I find a pattern that's bolt is 48", I could get seven triangles out of each row, so I'd need at least 21" (aka half a yard would be safe).
