Abigail Belmont
Wildlife Whisperer

All about saving those who fall victim to mankind's hubris, Abigail has devoted her life to rescuing and rehabilitating wild animals. She'd not the best as socializing and connecting with people, but she finds solace and comfort in animals and plants. Domestic or wild.

Half Open, Half Closed

Working for the government is really great in a lot of ways. Stable job, stable pay, solid hours and a sweet deal on health insurance and whatnot. The downside? It's the same government that she's forced to work with year after year, fighting to prove that no, fracking shouldn't be allowed. That no, allowing a water bottling facility would ravage local endangered species, and yes, they matter Mr. Senator please speak to your colleagues about it.

She grew up finding nature more important than people, and while she loves her job because it allows her certain ways to help the earth, she's part of the same system that's ruining it. Not to mention, she's just not good with people and few care as deeply as she does about the issues of the environment. She wants to help people understand that she's not just looking out for their small area, but the vast whole. She sees people as a problem most of the time, and even outside of work and her passions, has very little faith in people.
Pessimistic with a bravado of optimism.

Abigail wonders often why she even bothers trying to change anything, let alone herself. She is convinced she is not a people person. She doesn't see herself as pretty, talkative, or generally likable. She is blind to compliments and attempts at social invites both knowingly and unknowingly. Abigail spends her time alone not because she likes it, but because she isn't comfortable with the idea of risking her small boundaries and safety of her small circle for the small chance she might actually branch out.
She's a person, not a tree after all.

However much like a tree, she's pretty firmly rooted in the idea that she's just not a good people person. She's a good animal and plant person is all.

Disney Princess

Animals tend to be fairly calm around her, and not get wildly riled up when she's working with them. By no means to they become docile or 'tame', they just tend to be more at easy when she's nearby or working with them.

ANYTHING ELSE?

Abigail specializes in bats and other 'misunderstood' animals such as raccoons, badgers, rats- She has the best luck with interacting with them, and desperately wants to educate on why keeping native populations alive and healthy is a thing.

Other-
Abigail grew up with two very ultra-hippies to say the least, and lived on the road until CPS caught up with them, forcing them to either setting, send Abigail to her very conservative grandparents, or- live on a commune. Her folks chose commune. She lived her life fairly indoctrinated in their beliefs in organic, local, fresh, mother earth and that humans were inherently inferior.
That she was inherently inferior.

The fact that her parents refused to let her go to school, to have anything 'modern' in terms of toys and tech left Abigail growing up an outside in a world she was told was her job to love. That isn't to say she was ignorant. Eventually, her parents gave into her requests to go to school, (where she struggled but eventually flourished), and they even helped send her off to college. But not without the constant reminder on how she had to be mindful of what she did, what she ate, and who she supported.

Her parents were expecting someone like them
Abigail wanted to be... well. Not them.

She's grown up since then. Gotten her degrees. She works full time as a wildlife specialist for the County and lives in a modest two bedroom home that is more garden than house far away enough from city limits so she can have a few chickens and a small hive. She takes care of what she can and shops at Whole Foods. She makes letters to her folks in the boonies how she is and how she's not giving into the man.

She works for the government to help animals and conservation efforts.
Often fighting the same government she works for on behalf of the animals she works with.
Needless to say, Abigail struggles with the fact she has and is apart of something she doesn't want to be, yet finds herself drawn to none the less.

Vampsu!! Ok couple things..

High Concept - I'm not seeing the 'whisperer'. The term implies a natural affinity for her work but you focus more on her smug nature than how good or natural she is with her job. The description itself is fine! I just don't see it reflected in your choice of title so please revise one or the other to match.

Trouble - Most of this section focuses on Abigail's HISTORY and less about what her current problems are. Family situation and the way she was raised are not things that can be changed or affected by the game or Abigail's actions. The trouble should focus on the character's personal struggle - things that the game can play on and affect, perhaps even help or harm. The only hint I see about her actual current personal issues is the last line about struggling with where she has found herself in this stage of her life. Expand on this!

With all she's done for herself through education and finding a career she likes, where does her unhappiness lie with herself? Does the conflict of interest with her government job affect her morals in some personal way? Is she making efforts to change her life or priorities due to this discomfort? Does she direct the frustration with work outward or inward? Does her previously mentioned smug nature in regards to her lifestyle choice affect personal relationships? It would be nice to see these personality points from your High Concept tie to the trouble, especially since they seem like they could be troublesome!

You shouldn't just toss your character history, as it is important to know where she comes from, but it should essentially be migrated into your 'Anything Else' section.

Power - This seems to be more of a Riser power than a Dreamer power. A dreamer power should be something the world is doing for her and less about what she can do herself. Sometimes a dreamer power may not even be overtly noticed and can be both a boon or an annoyance depending on what it is. Perhaps small animals are inexplicably drawn to her wherever she is - or creatures are simply more calm in her presence all of a sudden. Please re-word and remember it shouldn't be anything she's actively doing or applying herself.

The trouble is definitely a bit more on point.

Remember that this should be the ultimate crux of their character, the basis of their personal character arc and what the game will play against as she progresses. I'm seeing her working with people in a 'work' capacity (though her work seems to be her life) but not much more. The game is full of people she will need to deal and interact with... how is this going to go? How does she handle people on a day to day basis and if these sorts of interactions are a personal blockade for her, does she have the capacity or flexibility to change and care about things outside of her bubble? Is progress a possibility for her, or is that part of the problem?

Power - The phrase 'never had a bad experience with an animal' gives me the impression she's always had this power. This should NOT be the case, the power is developed in-game upon becoming a dreamer. Tbh I would suggest removing this statement all together. The rest of it reads all right though to me though.

'For whatever reason, Abigail has never really had a 'bad' experience with an animal since she was hired at the rehabilitation center a year ago. '

--This still doesn't work. She would not have this power until she was acquired as a dreamer (through shop events). Which obviously means if she's living and working in Ashdown as we speak, she DOES NOT YET have this power. She can not have had it for a year.

If you want her to just have really good luck with animals, that's one thing, but it would not be magical. This innate power SPONTANEOUSLY develops when your character becomes a Visitor, not before. It is a subtle but notable sudden magical shift in their life that distinguishes a Visitor from a normal Civilian.

Removing that sentence entirely from the power description should rectify the situation... she just can't have been running around as a powered character before she's actually one, and if played as a civilian should not be sporting this uncanny ability either.
