Helki was once again upon the ground. This time she has decided to explored an area that is bordered on one side by the light tribe and the sea on the other. The salty breeze ruffled her feathers and fur causing her to shiver in delight and on this rather warm day it helped keep her cool. For a sky going balam, she was rather fond of staring out towards the sea. It glittered, like her, and seemed to hold a secret all it's own.

With her back to the light tribe territory, she sat down and gazed out towards the glittering water. Sea birds flew about, their strange cries echoing towards her. Odd burst of water spray up, but randomly and not in the same spots. She's flown over parts of the big water to know that large animals swim below and who knows what else. She never dared to plunged herself into the sea like the birds do. Only shallow rivers and creeks.

After a time, the fur on her back lifted up along her spine as if she was being watched. She swiveled her head around but saw nothing and who ever it was, was down wind of her.

Stepping lightly crystalline trees, a branch of one such tree with unusual clarity cradled with delicacy in his maw, Raveendra's eyes remained glued on the ground to sweep for goodies to apply to his trade. A small satchel vaguely clanked against his right haunch, jingling just a bit louder when he spotted two shed Light scales only to stuff them in the pouch as well. He'd specifically made his way towards the gentle slope that led from the crystal forest into shrub greens so that he could comb the near beach for shells and such. What he hadn't expected as he pushed silently through the last few bits of green cover was the strange gold gleam near the shore.

Now, the Weaver had seen fit that Raveendra didn't have the best sight at a distance, something he'd never lamented. His great near vision by far was an equal trade. So he stood, eyes trying to focus on the odd gleam, his streamers twitching unconsciously as he did so.

Maybe the sea had washed golden ore up yet again? It had happened before after stormy weather. Raveendra couldnt recall recent inclement weather however.

Then the gleam moved, turned half towards him. Taken aback, he was now sure the oddly glittering shape was another B'alam. Strange. But, not enough to deter him from his task. Stepping out from cover, he made sure to glance up and two the sides. Then he was right back to keeping his eyes trained on the ground. Colorful shells with creamy oil slick toned undersides were snatched up.

Making his way forward, rapidly forgetting the other B'alam nearby, he almost exclaimed when he found the waters edge. Sea glass, rounded by the surf and in pastel shades were a rare find. In such high concentration even more so. Looking back at his bag, Raveendra growled in annoyance that he'd be unable to fit all the pieces sparkling in water inside.

No matter, he'd just have to be choosy.

Another balam moved out from under the trees just as she started to turn her head back around. She froze from a moment and then moved to look at the balam. It was a male light balam, but she guessed a light balam was to be expected so close to the tribe.

Helki saw the other balam pause and look towards her. She didn't move but her wings began to poof up to make her look bigger. It only made her look fat with them tucked in. The male then looked away and kept his eyes to the ground as he made his way towards her and the ocean. She kept her violet eyes upon him, her head swiveling around to keep watch. But he seemed to forget her presence. The feathers along her wings began to smooth back out as she tilted her head.

His progress halted by the water as it gently lapped at the sand. He seemed to be interested in something in the sand and was trying to fit the items into his full satchel and was rather irritated they wouldn't fit. She saw the light catch on the items and how they glittered and her ears suddenly perked up, her streamers twitched in curiosity.

Helki stood and inched towards the male, her eyes upon the glittering items. But as she got a few feet from him, her paw landed on something cold and slimy and she squealed and leaped into the air, landing a foot away from what surprised her. Her feathers and fur stood up as she looked at the ground and saw just some common seaweed lying in the sand. She felt embarrassed but she also felt someone close to her.

She looked up towards the male light balam to see that her sudden leap sent her closer to him than her sneaking around did. Being so close to him, her eyes looked him over and widen. He was so handsome and being close to him sent an odd sensation up and down her spine. She also felt small standing so close to him, and she was on the small side for a wind balam too.

Methodically lifting bits of glass from the surf, Raveendra's red eyes scrutinized each piece for clarity. Those deemed flawed were tossed to the side, but the rest were carefully stashed in his satchel. That is until a shrill squeal paired with the ticklish touch of a single feather dancing over his flank scared the dickens out of him. "Nngh!" He both stiffened and sent his rear shimmying away, streamers immediately held up and out in surprise. Sucking in a steadying breath, he found the glittering golden blob from before had resolved into a feather ruffled female, wide eyed and staring at him.

His first thought, when recognition settled in was…small. Tiny. Raveendra had to tilt his gaze father down than normal to take her in. He was large for a Light male, almost comparative to the few Ice males he'd had the pleasure of interacting with. But, the size disparity was almost ridiculous, he could already feel a crick in his neck.

"Ex…", that crystal branch was still in his mouth. How embarrassing. His streamers snapped tight against his head, neatly crossing over his back, his version of blushing. Lowering the branch to the sand, he shook as his head came back up, his scales clinking pleasantly with the movement. Like the Wind, his shake was like resetting ruffles feathers. But finally he sat, head angled almost sheepishly, "excuse me."

Apology delivered he briefly met the female's…awed, that what he'd call it, lavender gaze. But his eyes didn't linger, instead they curiously followed the twisting and swirling patterns of gold back through the silk of her hair, then up along her pelt. Every twist and swirl, she reminded him intensely of the filigree he made his trade in. As those thoughts compounded, his streamers crossed yet again. The beauty of her markings was stunning and Raveendra had never been one to feel attraction towards another. Yet as his eyes returned to locking with her intent gaze, he felt a tug at his heart he couldn't have dreamed to expect.

Her ears had been pulled back, her eyes wide, her feathers ruffled, and her steamers twitching with the light breeze off the ocean. His voice suddenly rumbled through her ears and they turned slowly towards the sound. The shiver caressed her spine again and warmth started at her core. She could feel his ruby gaze like feathers tickling over her as he looked her over. Helki was frozen, the sand between her toes not even registering.

He was tall, her head was tilted back to look up into his handsome face, her eyes narrowed to keep the sun out. The sun...oh how it danced across the scales over his back. He shook himself and sent the colors dancing and clinking like music. His pelt was pleasing shades of red with gold threading through in exotic patterns. She had met plenty of other balam, male balam, but she felt a tug in her soul looking at this big light male.

A smile slowly began to change her awe into joy, her violet eyes light up. The feathers along her wings slowly lowered and smoothed out once again. Her mind recovered and thoughts began to swirl around. She had never felt this way before but she was no stranger to emotions. But this one was new. Helki knew that balam would pair up with another, their special one. Was this what they felt when meeting the right one? Was he the right one? She knew others would pair up with same tribe or different tribe so that wouldn’t be a problem…would it? Was she shallow for thinking him so handsome or was that to be expected? The racing thoughts where getting out of hand. She pushed them down into quite submission so that maybe she could speak something coherent.

"Hello," she spoke; her voice was sweet, soft, and timid.

Now wow….She certainly knew how to wow with her many words, or lack thereof. She finally peeled her eyes away in slight embarrassment of her lack of vocabulary and gazed out towards the ocean once again. Peaceful waves lapped at the shore, the sun causing them to sparkle…like the scales. The sight helped her regain herself as she glanced sideways up at him.

Sweet as bird song.

The little females soft hello did things to Raveendra's insides he hadn't the words to puzzle into a semblance of ordered. Others had described what they had felt when they'd found the matching piece of their soul. Most said it felt like suddenly filling a gaping hole they had never know was there. Others… Others said it felt like their brains and hearts were suddenly scrambled at first meeting.

He now believed the latter.

When her lavender eyes flicked out over the ocean, Raveendra felt he could finally speak, to move. The barest of shiver passed from his neck down to his toes, "greetings…" So smooth. At least his double bass tone was low, touched with a natural growl, but steady. "Raveendra." He offered hastily, coming back onto all four feet only to tuck one forepaw to dip into an obviously practiced bow.

His red eyes stared at the crystal branch near his toes, and as he stood up once more one of his class hooked over the thick base. A welcome distraction Raveendra was going to cling to so that he wouldn't melt into a puddle of nerves. The ginger, rhythmic scrape he could feel more than hear from that claw allowed him to look back to the female who'd flipped his world upside down.

Sorry for taking so long, my RP creative juices died. They're still kinda dead, but I'm whipping them into shape.

His deep voice sent a cascade of sensation through her body once again. Her spirit sung and glowed with the sound, as if just his presence wasn't enough, the sound of his voice needed to be added in to complete it. Helki felt the need to shoot into the sky like a rocket but at the same time grounded. Not in a bad way. Feeling rooted in a way that said she found something she hadn't realized she was looking for. Found something that now made her feel complete. Him.

She kept her eyes on the ocean because she wasn't sure if she'd loose herself completely. Last thing she needed was to become a liquid mess on the sand. Helki wasn't big on decorum or the fine arts of manners, but yapping in gibberish wasn't attractive. She still had some dignity and suddenly she wanted so bad for someone to like her. And not just anyone. This light male who was so near her.

A sudden, but small sound drew her ear towards the ground to a crystal branch. One of his claws was hooked on it which drew her eyes up and back on his handsome face. His name formed in her mind. It had heard him speak it in his voice. Although hastily spoken, her mind clung to it like it was it's safety net. And as soon as it formed it moved forth and what was spoken in a deep somewhat growly voice now came out in her clear, sweet, bell-like voice.

"Raveendra."

She nearly sighed it. Her expression was soft and glowing as she gazed at him, her smiled light and peaceful. Gently, she sat down upon the sand and settled her tail around her feet, the feathers tied to the end tickling her toes.

"I'm Helki."
