Stealing is easy when you don't get caught.

At this point in his life, Zindel didn't need to steal things. He had enough money to live for himself at this point, having saved a lot of beetles from Dance Battling and practically mooching off Chiara when it came to food and sometimes even a place to stay. He didn't, however, forget the nights he'd spent in that communal hivestem, where even if he shared a place with a few of his partners, it still felt like something resembling friendship. It was camaraderie and nice, and Zindel wanted to bring back some food or money with him, if only just to repay them all. However, he didn't have enough money to spare, as most of it was controlled by Chiara. He couldn't dance on the streets tonight do to bad street traffic and terrible cloudy weather-- So his only option now was the one he normally fell back on: Stealing.

With pursed lips, the teen dug his hands into his pants pockets, not wearing his fancy ones due to the need for stealth. A hive in the plains, far away but with ripe, delicious fruits. He'd seen it from afar, and it seemed rather well tended. He'd searched ahead of time for a place of easy entry-- if he managed to grab a few and head out, he'd make good time to the next farm nearby. He'd made sure the troll was away and waited a few minutes before beginning to relax his muscles and prepare himself for the theft. Tugging the black mask over his mouth and nose, Zindel adjusted the beanie he wore and used a black band to keep his hair out of his face-- Okay, he was ready.

Stealthily he slid out of his hiding place, managing to hide behind the fence blocking out entry from the trolls around them. He slid over it carefully, easily, before quickly and smoothly opening his bag and immediately beginning to tug them off the greenery in the area. As easy as taking candy from a wiggler.

It was the beginning of a gorgeous new night. Everything on the farm seemed well tended to, he had just put down fresh fertilizer the night before. The sounds of night filled the vast empty air of the plains, and the redblood reveled in the serenity that surrounded him.
Since everything seemed to be going particularly smooth tonight, Fellah was up for another adventure to find some new produce to start cultivating.
He had hitched everything up to his wagon, but for some reason, Papabuff seemed a little edgy tonight.
"What's wrong Papa?" Fellah asked, as they started to head away from the hive. The lusus just bristled, something was off and the buffaboar intended to keep on his toes, er, hooves, whatever.

Before they got too far, Fellah was taking stock of his supplies and realizes he had forgotten one of the essentials, sacks. It was all well and good to transport stuff in the wagon itself, but it was always a pain to clean if he didn't use the sacks.
"Hang on Papabuff, forgot the sacks," Fellah said, having them do a U-turn and rush back to the hive. The lusus just shook his head, Fellah was a great son, but so forgetful.
After unhitching the lusus, Fellah rushed into a barn to grab the burlap sacks. Unfortunately for the intruded on the farm, Fellah's lusus was the first to notice the thief as his ears picked up on some unusual rustling coming from the orchard. With a loud grunt, he charged in Zindel's direction.

"Papabuff, what's-" Fellah stepped out of the barn hearing his lusus charge, as he stepped out Papabuff flew past him toward the edge of the orchard. "Hey woah, wait up!" Fellah took off after him, not quite as fast.
When the lusus saw the culprit he reared up, a MASSIVE beast, and it did not look happy. When his front legs came back down, he scraped the ground, looking as though he was about to charge.
"Woah, Papabuff!...hold on!" Came a breathless Fellah, stroking his lusus head, trying to get him to calm down.
Turning to the stealthy troll gathering fruit, Fellah could've sworn he looked familiar to him. "Well howdy there," he said, "Sorry about Papabuff, he gets pretty protective. What're ya doing way out...here..." as he payed closer attention, Fellah finally realized what was going on.

The moment he heard the hard thump of hooves on the ground, Zindel felt the hairs on his neck stand, body tensing as he quickly closed his bag and started to stalk away-- Only to see a massive, angry, 10 foot monster gearing to charge. At him. His mind instantly conjured a strategy-- Wait until it ran, dodge, and run. Maybe he could make it trip, maybe he could-- "Woah, Papabuff!...hold on!" Or... not? Zindel glanced toward the large troll arriving on scene, eyes widening as he felt his palms begin to sweat when he realized the reason Zindel was there for. Wait-- He knew him! He'd always been in Chiara's Dance Booth, right...? He lowered his eyes slightly, adjusting his mask a little and quickly reaching for his weapon, thrusting it out swiftly. Although he definitely didn't use it so much to know exactly what to do with it, he did know enough to shank someone. It just felt a little weird to do it to someone of his own bloodcolor.

Not that he knew. He cleared his throat, voice unrecognizable as he made it deeper, unknown. "You're going to let me go, and call your lusus off. Or I'll kill you." He didn't know if he could, but hell, he wasn't gonna be the one to die tonight. It was weird, to confront, but begging only worked when they saw his face, and he wasn't going to reveal his identity to a troll he recognized.

At the sight of the weapon, and the intruder's threat, Papabuff reared up again getting ready to trample this twerp.
"Papabuff, calm down!" Fellah said, firmly, he had to grab onto one of his lusus over sized horns as he bucked around to try and get his lusus to listen. "I got this Papabuff, just calm down. Please!" Fellah insisted, looking his lusus in the eyes.
Papabuff grunted, like hell, this thief had just threatened his kid, it was his job to protect him! When Fellah caught his gaze, the lusus, turned his head defiantly, but finally caved. He didn't like his charge being so risky, but he backed off. If only by a few steps.

"He can get carried away some times," the farm troll said, finally returning his attention to the newcomer. Fellah didn't look angry, or bristled, maybe a little disappointed, but he still gave the troll a sympathetic smile.
Picking up one of the burlap sacks he had dropped while calming down his lusus, Fellah went about picking some of the fruit himself.
Papabuff looked a little irritated, but didn't interfere.
"Here, these trees are a little riper, this bunch will taste better. Just try not to let that go to waste either," Fellah said, gesturing to the loot that his "guest" had already stashed.
Stepping forward, cautiously, Fellah extended the sack of fruit toward the defensive troll. He didn't chastise him, warn him, lecture him, Fellah knew that one way or another, this troll had some reason for doing what he was doing. The farm troll gave away a lot of his produce anyway, so what if this guy didn't go about things in the best fashion? At the end of the night, Fellah didn't want to get into a fight over a bag of fruit.

Zindel was still tense when the other grabbed the horns from his own lusus, watching him try to calm his lusus down and setting his jaw. This was ridiculous, why was he trusting him to do this? Zindel was tense and nervous, definitely not having expected this. He'd have to plan more carefully, next time. It'd been a while since his last steal after all. As the redblood calmed his lusus down, the thief took in his surroundings, looking for somewhere to escape to-- Then the farmer troll turned back toward him, and Zindel adjusted his grip, eyes narrowed and suspicious. A smile? Was he smiling at him? This was them mocking him, surely. He wouldn't let any of it go to waste-- It wasn't going to him, after all. They needed it more than he did. But the redblood didn't move from his spot, wanting to check inside-- After all, it could've been something else. "Open it. Show me what's inside, then if it's fruit, eat one." He didn't want to give them poison... The redblood glanced over to the large ball of anger wearily. "And keep your lusus in check."

The farm troll looked a little at loss for what to say at first. It wasn't really the reaction he had anticipated, but he also wasn't one to agitate a guest.
"Well...uh, okay. I mean I just picked the fruit right in front of ya. Don't know what I coulda done to it," he chuckled a bit, but opened the sack regardless and lifted a nice ripe pear to his mouth and bit into it.
The fruit did look good, very ripe, juicy, and best of all the farm troll didn't keel over in agony when he ate it.

"See, it's just fine," Fellah held the sack out once more, "Papabuff won't give ya anymore trouble. He may look big and scary, but he's just an old softie." His lusus snorted at his charges comment. Maybe Fellah knew him as a softie, but Papabuff wouldn't think twice about trampling the twerp in front of him.

Zindel wasn't one to take too many chances. It didn't matter if he'd been in his sight the whole time-- Zindel needed to see these things with his own eyes. Especially with the moo beast glaring and watching his every move. He watched as the burly troll lifted the pear to his mouth and munched on it easily, observing for any signs of disgust or defiance. There were none.

One thing the thief did not understand was why the troll wasn't simply allowing his lusus to trample him. Though if he let his mind wander on that too long, he'd end up feeling guilt. And he couldn't feel guilt. Not now. He was already in the process of doing it. Eyes never leaving the sack, Zindel listened to the redblood speak before his sight moved slowly toward the troll, then to the bull. Zindel was still tense. He still felt like he couldn't trust him, but what else could he ask him to do, empty it all out?!? This was enough. He needed to take it and leave. Zindel's hand did not falter, staying alert and tense. He could grab him if he got too close. "Close it, place it on the ground, and push it toward me." He said stiffly. He wouldn't take any chances.

However, his attention was mainly on Fellah at this point. He wasn't really looking toward the bull, mostly focusing on not being attacked by the obviously stronger troll, but tense nonetheless. Zindel could feel the sweat sliding down his back from nervousness.

Fellah was still baffled at how on edge the stranger was. By now though, it was just a little funny, in a pitiable way. Which was odd considering Fellah hadn't needed to pity anyone before. This troll must really need the food. The farm troll just wished he'd calm down about it a bit.
"Sure thing pal," Fellah said with a shrug, tying the sack in a knot, setting it on the ground and stepping back from it, hands up.

Papabuff, however, was still not fond of the intrusion and threats. He snarled again, pawing the ground with his hoof to show who was still in control here.

"Oh fer darn sake Papabuff will you knock it off!" Fellah snapped at his lusus, "Ya know I love ya, but ya gotta calm down. This guy just needs a little help. Who the heck knows what's happened to 'im. Why don't ya go check on the hoofbeasts on the other side of the farm," he said, as sternly as he could manage.

Papabuff was not AT ALL pleased by the tone of his troll. Fellah was older, he knew he didn't need to constantly be protecting him, but they were still close. Papabuff would no doubt chastise Fellah later, but he knew the redblood didn't get company often. So against his better judgment he listened to Fellah and trotted off to the other side of the barn.

"Sorry bout that, he means well," Fellah said to the stranger. "I understand if ya gotta go, but I did just make some pies last night. They're still fresh and I got plenty to go around if ya wanna take a breather and grab a slice," he offered, gesturing to his hive with his thumb.

      The lusus was finally gone.

Zindel could feel his posture relax some-- He knew what to do. He'd done it before, and death was normal. It was needed, especially now that he'd been seen. While his nose and mouth weren't visible, he was sure at some point that the other had seen his mole, and he couldn't have some troll recognizing him-- More trolls to get rid of in the future. It took a moment for Zindel to let the thought sit with him, but after, his actions became fluid and smooth, like water. His weapon spun in his hand, blade facing down as his expression seemed almost friendly. Maybe if he agreed he'd turn around to lead the way, then Zindel would have a clean cut and go. "Mm. That sounds delicious." Zindel said lightly, almost jokingly. "Lead the way." It was better for him to die here. This troll probably wouldn't have made it far on Alternia, anyways.

A wide smile spread across Fellah's face. He thought he'd finally gotten the other troll to calm down a bit, maybe have a nice chat, or make a new friend who knew. Goes to show ya catch more flies with honey than salt.
"Sure, just come on over here. The back door is closer. So ya got a favorite kinda pie?" he asked, trying to make conversation as the farmtroll turned around to lead the stranger into his hive.

"Back door, got it," He filed such information away for another time, when he needed to salvage what was left of the others hive. Chiara lived close by, anyways, he was sure he could get to and back from there to here. It seemed like good land too, he could give some to trolls in need, or something. Grow, sell... He didn't know. "I rather like apple," He murmured while twirling his knife, dashing toward the farm troll, knife aimed directly at his neck.

The farm troll was blissfully unaware to the strangers true intentions, until he heard a loud snort and roar from Papabuff who was rounding the corner from behind Fellah's hive at full charge.
"Papabuff, what're you doing? You were supposed-" Fellah couldn't even get his words out before the massive hoofbeast rushed past him, and straight for the knife wielding troll.
Papabuff took great satisfaction in making directed contact with the trolls chest. The lusus broad side of his horns sent the little rat flying backwards, squarely knocked into the trunk of a tree.
"Papabuff!" Fellah hollered, rushing to his lusus. Papabuff was snorting loudly and kicking at the dirt, the job wasn't finished and the lusus wanted to end it!"Papabuff, NO!!" Fellah bellowed, more sternly than most have ever heard him. He had to jump up and grab a hold of his lusus horn to wrestle him down to the ground in order to make him stop.
Did his kid WANT to be killed? Papabuff wasn't happy with being stopped, but at least he was convinced that he had stopped the little rat as his charge forced him to calm down.
Fellah glanced over to the other guy. He noticed a blade nearby him. The farm troll frowned...now what would he do about this...

      Wham.

Zindel hadn't realized how close the lusus had gotten until it was already too late. The hit landed directly on his chest, releasing a groan before he was met face first with a tree. He heard a loud crack and red was everywhere, pain blossoming in his face as his awareness faded. He fell unceremoniously to the ground with a thwump.
