![User Image](https://i581.photobucket.com/albums/ss258/Hoshi_Breedables/Balam/Zedar_HoshiLockhart_zpsyf0yccrw.jpg) The day had been long and Zedar couldn't wait for the sun to go down finally so that his eyes could stop burning. Even behind closed lids, hidden in the shadows, he could still feel the pain of the sun upon his face. Why it was like that and not for the other B'alam he had seen from afar, functioning fine in the sunlight, he never stopped to ponder. It would make no difference to his situation. It wouldn't make the sun hurt any less. All it would do was give him the means to understand why and...That didn't really seem to matter all that much to him. He didn't crave the knowledge to know what was going on. It could be something as simple as a medical condition. Or just more differences that made him not quite like the others he had seen from afar. Taking down prey that he found he has as little interest in as discovering the truth behind his sudden blindness by day. Meat was not what he had craved. Meat of other animals was not what had driven him closer to others of his species. It as the undeniable aroma of what flowed within them. Their essence. Their blood.
But he guessed that wasn't so strange and different from the others. When they killed and ate of other creatures, they still consumed blood. It just wasn't the blood of their own kind. Not a very big difference. Just a small one. And it wasn't even like he was taking as much as the other ones did when they choose victims. His 'prey' was still alive to keep killing another day.
Which, when you thought about it, made him a little better than the others, right? He had yet to kill anything. Except maybe the odd bug or two that was bothering him while he slept during the day. But the others probably had to kill at least once a day to survive.
Mm. Interesting food for thought. That he was done with. The sun was finally beginning to set and it was now his turn to stalk.
As the sun touched the land in the distance and the world began to fade into black, Zedar opened his eyes and blinked a couple of times, feeling the sensation of having them open without the pain. He stood up, stretching out his legs and wings and giving a giant yawn as if he'd just woken up and hadn't been simply waiting in the shadows for a couple of hours. As the sun finally dipped it's head below the horizon, he moved out silently. Before he did anything else, the first thing he needed was something to fill his stomach.
Lifting his nose, the Dark went off in search of a B'alam he hoped had just settled down deeply into sleep. It didn't take long before he came across one, had his fill, and moved on to enjoy the rest of his night alone.

![User Image](https://i581.photobucket.com/albums/ss258/Hoshi_Breedables/Balam/Sushila_Hoshi Lockhart_zpseqslut7t.png) It had been a day much like all the others since she had first awoken. Sushila had traveled around, inspecting different things and animals, as was perhaps normal for those who were new to the world. She had not seen anyone else for whom she could have a conversation with and she had found the days becoming increasingly lonely. She was beginning to assume she was the only one around. That was the only explanation that made sense. There were simply no others and she was the only one of her kind. Maybe she was the first, an experiment. Maybe the one who had made her was deciding if he should make more like her. Maybe her constantly being on her own, day after day, meant she was failing the test.
That was not a kind thought. Sushila quickly shook her head to get rid of it each time it tried to poke its head out of the dark corner she always shoved it into. She didn't want to fail the test! She wanted more like her! The world was so large and lonely on her own.
But that's how it was. And, just like all nights before, Sushila settled down somewhere among the grass to sleep until the next time the sun would rise and bath the world in its brilliance.
Only, this wasn't like most normal nights. Something woke her up.
She heard a rustle and something bit her. Opening her eyes, Sushila settled on the retreating backside of another animal walking away from her. But, wait. That backside was familiar. It looked like her own.
Standing up quickly, the wind stretched her wings out wide and flicked away the little insect that had bitten her in anger, mistaking her for the other B'alam who had actually disturbed its rest.
"Hey! Wait a minute! What did you just do?"

Zedar was unconcerned about the B'alam he was leaving behind until he heard movement and he stopped, flicking one ear back to listen to the accusations that weren't too slow in coming.
Did he do something? Why, yes. He did. But she shouldn't have been able to feel it. She'd been fast asleep. He'd checked before dipping his head towards her neck. Very much asleep. And even if she wasn't fast asleep, she wouldn't have felt it regardless. No one felt his bite. If it was painful, you'd think they'd have sprang up right away to fend him off. No one did. Not until this one and he had already been a good twenty feet away by the time she seen him. There had been others, too, who moved a little in their sleep to the point, if it would have hurt, they would have felt it and woken. No one had.
Except this one. Had she even been asleep to begin with?
Turning around slowly, Zedar gave her an emotionless look, no guilt written on his face or stirring in his mind. He had done nothing wrong. This nantlil was just delusional. Possibly with lack of sleep.
"Like? he asked, the same lack of emotion in his voice as was plastered all over his face. He just wanted to go. Maybe he should. Just turn around and keep walking. If she followed and continued to bother him, that was her problem.
Actually, no. Who was he kidding. That would be worse than just dealing with it. She also had wings. Even if he took to the skies, she could probably just follow him.

Sushila humphed at him, taking the last strides towards him so she could stick her face in his. He stood his ground, staring bright green on bright green. He was not intimidated by her, nor was she of him. Not that that was what she was going for. She just wasn't afraid of him and wanted him to know it by her coming so close. Whatever he had done, she wasn't going to let him get away with it!
"Like?" the Wind repeated, trying to keep the edge to her tone despite the fact her mind was beginning to flounder. Well, she didn't exactly have any idea what he had done. Beside the way he was walking directly away from her. Which suggested to her mind that he had done something to her. Wouldn't everyone else agree? It seemed quite logical to her.
If she couldn't accuse him of anything, though...
"I don't know, but you did something! You have guilt written all over your face!" Well, no, he didn't. His face was actually quite calm during all this. Making her paranoid she had gotten it all wrong. Unless he was just good at hiding his guilt. Yeah. That was it. Why was he walking away from her if not because he had done something and now was so arrogant he wouldn't be caught that he could look her clearly in the eyes and just lie! What a scoundrel!
"All over your face. And I will figure it out!"

She was joking, right? This was one of those things called a joke. She was just playing with him, trying to get a reaction out of him since he was so calm about the entire situation. When why wouldn't he? Even if she had no idea what he'd done, he'd still done nothing as bad as she probably had to do to stay alive. Butchering another creature smaller than her. Was almost barbaric. An understandable practice, but not one he liked to think about.
A small smile played across Zedar's lips as he raised an eyebrow at this nantlil. It was almost amusing, how determined she was to accuse him of something. Well, he guessed he wouldn't make it easy for her. She'd never guess what it was. He'd watched many of his own kind from afar. Not the ones with wings such as his, but the other ones. The ones like her. The ones that had no special features. The ones with jewels on their heads. All of them did the same thing: They killed for their food.
"Mm. I'd love to see you try," was his answer, the tip of his tail flicking slightly on the ground. He stretched his wings out, than folded them back against his sides as he sat down, thinking this night had turned around. At least he now had some entertainment.
