This happens to me quite often. After a while of listening to My Chemical Romance, sometimes I get into the mood for scissor sisters (it's so sad, I have their album gonk ) or after of a whole week straight listening to nothing else but Marilyn Manson, I'll put on the radio and hear a pop song that's actually really catchy and I kinda like it.
I started to worry because I thought that people would start saying that I pretend to be into heavy metal music when I start singing along to a tune that's currently in the charts. That was until my dad admitted the same thing. He doesn't just love heavy metal, he's part of it. He has tonnes of albums on it (that's where I get my strange heavy metal taste from that my mother hates xP), yet he likes the odd song that isn't here and there, for example Lucy Silvas-The game is won. 0_o;;
I don't know if anybody else out there is like that. Maybe not. Maybe it's just because me and my dad are strange little beings that don't really belong on this planet...-x-files theme tune plays-

I am guilty as charged as well sweatdrop . Every now and then I'll like a completely random song that is a genre I do not usually listen to. I, myself, am into heavy metal and rock music and then GASP! Here comes "I write Sins Not Tradegies" by Panic! At the Disco. Happens to even the best of us, but I really find no point in saying that you pretend to like a music genre simply because you like a few songs that aren't typically your first choice.

I really HATE it when people listen to music only to be with a certain type of group. Like some people I know that are TOTAL wannabes and think that since they forced themselves listining to Marilyn Manson they are automatically goth, whereas underneath I know for a fact that they're fave artist is Beyonce Knowles. >__<;

I like quite a few songs that I would never admit to liking but actually really like. For instance, I was just listening to... nevermind

I am the same way. People know me as the Hardcore techno guy. I listen to it nonstop. So I am sort of glad no one asks me what I am listening to, except for a few people.
For most of the time at school I'm listening to classical, classic rock, blues, and sometimes, yes, sometimes Indie Rock.
But hey, I enjoy many styles of music. But techno is the dominant one.

Well right after My Chemical Romance comes the Manson. Then the Nine Inch Nails and the Panic! At the Disco. Then (and this is where I get freaky on you) I'm singing along to some Ludacris (I love his song Roll Out). After enough rock and/or metal I like rap and some hip hop. Eminem is a favorite of mine.

If you're open minded to music then it's not at all odd to find redeming qualities in musical genres that you normally wouldn't listen to. I have a very vast repetroire of music, most of it is obscure stuff or just darker bands. But I listen to Gwen Stefani's new stuff. I'm not ashamed to admit it either. If I find merit in a type of music I won't hide it. I love Slim Whitman as well. I can listen to just about anything. Another of mine that I admittedly enjoy is the Black Eyed Peas. I tried to deny them for a long time. But they are catchy and I can't deny it. >.<

I know how you all feel.
The most embarassing thing for me is one day, I was just listening to mudvane, then I noticed there were a few dance songs that were downloaded. My curiosity almost killed me, so I decided to listen to one of them, and now I can't get rid of the fact I love DJ cammy's cuppy cake remix. gonk

I'm alot like that. I'll be sitting down, listening ot my ipod and it was constant 'good charolotte' (newer gothic-er stuff x3, 'Blink 182', 'MCR', some 'simple plan' then pops up some 'High school musical', 'Phantom of the opera', and 'RENT'. My friends arn't frekaing out, and thne it goes back to the former kind of music. They're humming along and then BOOM on come 'Born to make you happy' by Brittney Spears. At this point, I'm quickly grabbing my ipod and chaneging it to the next song. They give me an odd stare, but think 'oh its alll good... musicals and goth music is on again... it was probbaly an error with downloading...' But sadly... soon comes Barbie Girl by Aqua, Sandman by America, and All The Things She Said by t.A.T.u (this is a big deal because its a lesbian group and... yeah... the lyrics give that little fact away and there is NO WAY I'm gonna ever admit I am bi to my friends... well a certain few of them)
