He had been out gathering supplies when the blizzard hit. It was expected, but the intensity of it was not. Even his thick fur couldn't block out all of the cold, but at least he wasn't freezing. To him, it was more like a hard breeze that had managed to penetrate his pelt. He had a long dark blue scarf on him that he wrapped around his head to help keep the worse snow out of his eyes, something he was thankful he had decided to bring. He had fought himself before giving in, finally accepting that it might come in handy.

As he pushed through the harsh winds, pelt whipping wildly, he saw a dark figure. Ears perked up and strained forward against the wind to see if he could hear anything, but the wind howled too loudly. His eyes couldn't make out the figure, and any scent was washed away immediately with the snow. It wasn't until he had gotten closer that he could see it was another B'alam. Female, by the looks of it. Earth as well. What was a female Earth Triber doing up here? Not that it really mattered. Any non Ice Triber in Ice Tribe territory was an enemy, even if they were huddled in a copse of rocks to try to get out of the cold.

He roughly pawed the figure in the side, grunting, motioning for her to stand and follow him. When he realized she was cold, he gave her his scarf, wrapping it securely around her neck and shoulders, and a bit over her eyes. Grunting again, he jerked his head to the side. He knew of a cave they could rest in nearby to get out of the blizzard for a while.

It was the night sky that drew her originally. Amira had an intense curiosity, an insatiable need that must be met when it came to the unknown. She had glimpsed the lights in the sky dancing like light on water while she traveled further south. She had paused to question as to their origin, but all she got was that they were a northern thing. So she traveled north. It made sense to her at the time, but she was unprepared for the environment.

Snow was an equally curious thing. She had never seen it before. It looked so soft, but it was cold and hard to the touch sometimes. She had licked it and found it was nourishing, but made her even colder. She hadn't had any since then, but it clung to her fur and wet her down. Her own fur felt heavy on her, but too thin. And all of a sudden a harsh wind blew snowflakes into her face. Flurries of it surrounded her and made it difficult to see. Eventually the poor B'alam sat down and hunched over, trying desperately to keep some warmth.

It wasn't long after she'd given up and stopped moving that someone found her. She had lay down at that point. The wind howling in her ears and the snow obscuring her vision made him impossible to see until he was towering over her and pawing at her roughly. She rose up a bit, gazing at the B'alam that had come upon her, but all she could see was a vague hulking shape. Suddenly a scarf was tossed around her and Amira was immediately grateful for the residual warmth. When he headed off, she followed him.

He took her to a cave and Amira was intensely glad to be out of the wind, though she was still exceptionally cold. "Thank you," she murmured, her teeth chattering as she attempting to speak. Her rump hit the floor of the cave and she hunched over again, the scarf wrapped around her neck, shoulders, and over her head. Bright, inquisitive blue eyes gazed at the B'alam before her. He was an Ice triber, that was for sure. He was large, or perhaps that was just the thick, excess fur that kept them warm. She had heard tales, but never met one before. "I wasn't expecting that storm," she admitted. "I'm Amira."

Her voice was soft, and her teeth chattered loudly with the cold. D'romida smiled softly. Yet another arrogant outsider who thought they could brave the harsh Ice Tribe territory. Either that, or a naive young one who didn't think about dressing warmly for the trip. Either way, it was very obvious she was an outsider. And almost immediately D'romida did not like her. Although, she seemed to be polite enough, which was interesting, to say the least. Maybe she did not know what happened to those not of the Ice Tribe when they crossed into their territory. Well, she would find out soon enough.

She looked pitiful, hunched over on the cave floor, the large scarf covering her neck, shoulders and head. But at least she was a bit more prepared for the weather. D'romida realized rather quickly that they would have to wait out the storm here in the cave. There was no way he could leave with her if she did not have more covering, and there was no way he was leaving her behind. He could use someone back at home to help carry most of his stuff. It would be good to finally have someone else around, even though he did not like company much as it was. Maybe she would be nice enough to keep things to herself and stay silent. That would be a relief.

"I wasn't expecting that storm," At least she was grown up enough to admit that she had not thought her plan all the way through. D'romida raised an eyebrow quizzically at her as he set his bag down and began to rummage through it. "I'm Amira." Sighing inwardly, he realized that this might not be a quiet stay after all. After finding what he needed, a bundle of sticks and two rocks, he shuffled back towards her, everything in one large paw. In silence, he set about preparing a fire, striking the two rocks together over the teepee of sticks until they caught. Once they did, he pulled out a clutch of pine needles from his bag. They would catch fire quick and burn of fast, but they would help supply the fire with enough heat to get it really going.

One large, blue eye looked up at the female across from him. Finally, it was light enough for him to note the markings on her pelt. They were complex yet simple, bright yet dull. Her colored pelt meshed wonderfully, even with the contrasting colors. The way they were portrayed on her pelt made them more complementary. D'romida stepped away from the fire to shake out his pelt, fluffing up the blue-green fur of his rump. Flecks of white seemed to sparkle in his dark blue mane as he shook it, and once he was done, he moved back towards the female. He realized he would have to give her his name, since she had so willingly given him hers.

"My name is D'romida. What are you doing in these mountains? This is Ice Tribe territory, not some place for an Earth Triber to go frolicking, especially without being fully prepared." He sat just close enough to her for his body head to radiate towards her, thick pelt brushing against hers momentarily as he shifted himself into a nice, relaxing sitting position.

Boy, he was a quiet one. Amira was not sure he would even give her his name, as he seemed content enough to go about building a fire -- which she was of course thankful for -- and settling himself down. Try as she might, it was difficult not to stare at him. Part of her had thought the Ice Tribe was a myth to scare youngsters. She had been warned away from the icy north and not just because of the weather. But Amira had ventured far and she it was difficult for her to purposefully avoid slaking her curiosity. So here she was, huddled up in front of a fire with the first Ice Triber she'd ever laid eyes on.

He eyed her with what Amira could only assume was curiosity. The more he gazed at her, the more she began to look at the fire. For some reason she found the piercing gaze of his eyes to be a little too intense for her. Soon enough she was quietly seated, hunched low to be close to the fire without burning herself. She was probably too damp to catch her fur on fire. Heat blazed off the small flicker of flames and Amira let out a soft sigh. Despite not being from this area, there was no way she would be leaving this place until the storm passed. She physically would not make it. Her paws were cold and caked with snow that stuck to her and melted into her fur and made her even colder.

And suddenly the Ice Triber spoke, giving his name as D'romida. Amira turned her head to look at him with surprise, but she probably looked more like a pathetic bedraggled cub than anything else. This was his area, his home. He knew the storms and the snow better than she ever would, she was sure. His chastisement had her feeling small, and she wondered if this was what cubs felt like when their parents were angry. She had never been a cub, having been Awoken as an adult, far south from where she was now. "I wanted to see the lights," she said quietly, her voice subdued now as if she were afraid he would think her childish. "I've only caught glimpses of them before. Someone told me they're amazing to see up here." The lights in the sky, shifting and dancing through the stars. That had been Amira's goal and the storm had driven that possibility away. Not only had she nearly frozen to death, but she hadn't even seen what she had come for. Her ears drooped slightly and she huddled closer to the fire.
