[HH 1v1] Take Flight (Joy vs Yves)

Maybe Joy wasn't taking her Haunted House duties seriously, or maybe she was approaching it differently than others. Maybe it's because she hasn't yet found a reason to view the house and the types of creatures as truly sinister and dangerous and it's not just because of the ******** decor and its architectural instability. Maybe, today was that day.

And Joy, all wary smiles and curious energy, just didn't know it.

Yves had heard about the humans whom others had encountered inside the Haunted House. Humans unlike those whom the Horsemen preyed and reaped fear from. If the source of the information was to be believed, these humans wielded weapons of their own and possessed the ability to fight back.

Today, he decided, was going to be the day that he was going to see for himself if that was fact or fallacy. He hoped that he wasn't going to be sorely disappointed.

The atmosphere of the house was different today. Joy couldn't quite put her finger on it but it was as if the House itself was trying to talk to her. Ha! Of course it would, the few times she'd been here she'd shown it how kind, wonderful, and understanding she was. Hell, maybe the house wanted to be her friend!

No. Bert snorted.

Libre lang mangarap, Bert, the hunter smirked. But all the same, she summoned her weapon. Just in case the house decided to get a little too friendly.

With this being Yves' first time in the Haunted House, the War Executioner had no preconceived notion as to what it was supposed to be like usually. So far the experience was certainly an eye opener but the whispering in the background was highly distracting and unsettling since it seemed as if someone was trying to tell him something. Peering about himself and seeing no one in sight, Yves frowned. He did not like surprises one bit at all. Readying his kodachi, he eventually decided to call out.

"Who's there?"

Ah! A question she'd heard of before! And one she'd prepared for! Sorta. It was getting rather difficult to focus in the house. Someone must have been messing with the sound system (that was the sound system's static wasn't it?) But all the same, Joy cleared her throat and called out "A friend! And a graduate. What about you?"

Hey, fair's fair. She'd been asked that enough times, she might as well get a chance to ask it herself.

Yves started towards the direction that he deemed the owner of the feminine voice to be coming from, innately grateful for something that he could attempt to focus on amidst the distracting whispering that he was trying to ignore in the background. "Is that so? What brings you to this place then?" He moved cautiously, glancing around to see if he could spot anyone at all as he kept his blade drawn on the off chance that someone or something decided to ambush him in the unfamiliar environment.

"I'm a journeyman. A hunter."

Joy brightened immensely upon hearing a fellow Hunter was with her. Okay so she may not know what a journeyman was (apart from being part of that music group, which was unlikely given the circumstances.)

"Oh this door and that," Joy tried to explain above the whispering voices echoing around her. They were starting to get on her nerves, really, prompting her to pick up the pace into a jog towards the voice. "You got a name I can call you, or is that, like an invite to give you one on the spot?" She was babbling at this point, but she didn't care. The sound of her own voice was better than the grating voices.

Not at all realising that he had accidentally led Joy on into thinking that he was a hunter like herself, Yves stopped to give a snort, his patience already wearing thin from the whispering voices that were grating on his nerves. "You do realise that you were not making any sense?" He huffed, deciding that he would allow the female to come to him instead.

She was near - that much he could tell based on her footsteps and her approaching voice as she next asked for his name. He narrowed his eyes then, not at all amused by her offer to come up with one for him on the spot if he chose not to respond. "I have a name. Yves. Have you got one as well?" He did not see any point in hiding who he was from her.

Now if only there was some way to get all the other voices to shut up...

When the Hunter rounded the corner, she ran into someone and as she looked up, it suddenly became very clear this was no Hunter. Whoever he was, he was hot as hell though. Brown eyes stared up as she breathed out, "O giliw ko," then quickly regained her sense of propriety by stepping back. "Ah ha, sorry about there." The apology was for making no sense in their conversation or for speaking in a language that was probably not spoken by a Halloweener, or both. She wasn't sorry for running into him though.

"Nice name, Yves. I knew one, once." She may have been referring to something else entirely, specifically one that came out of a bottle and involved running water. But babbling was her automatic go-to when faced with a really cute guy with feathers oh be still her Mulawin dreams. "My name's Lee."
