The Haunted House was one of those places that Chance did not have a lot of experience in, for good reason. The few times he had made it to the place had ended in some very severe, bloodied fights - but this time, at the very least, Chance had an advantage.
The cuff around his wrist was solid, spindles of gold emanating from beneath it across the skin of his arm. It wasn't particularly heavy, but it was an unusual, unfamiliar weight that Chance was still getting used to. Asher had made a few mentions of their concerns, but the artifact was something that he was going to be wearing for as long as he could.
He still had to work out the exact way it worked, but that would become apparent soon enough.
The floorboards creaked beneath his feet as Chance moved steadily through it, his bow at his side, ready and waiting for whenever he ran into something. It was dark and shadowy, cobwebs hanging down from the ceilings in white drips, and Chance brushed some of them carefully away, eyes narrowed in concentration.
Anything yet?

He'd see her eye first. The eerie, golden glow that cast the rest of her dark features in soft relief in the shadowed gloom of the Haunted House. The priestess was darkness, from the ashen hue of her skin, to the layered leather and silks and of her clothing. A shadow incarnate, she melted into the dimness, blending near flawlessly, if not for that one glowing eye.
Even the blade that came slashing out at the hunter was black, mat and dull, but incredibly sharp. It missed him by milometers as she struck from where shadow drenched doorway off to his left. A little too eager, she cursed herself as the blade struck the aged wood of the far wall and stuck. With an angry hiss she tore it free to turn, facing her now prey with a cold, delighted little grin.
"Greetings hunter." The mare's voice was a musical thing, sweet as bells in a dangerous purr. She slid the tips of a three fingers over the dark blade of her saber, brushed away a bit of dust and clinging splinters. "I am pleased to see you. it was growing frightfully dull here with nothing to hunt."

The golden glow shed light through the shadows, though not the pleasant kind of light. Chance gave it a suspicious sort of look, Asher thrumming a warning inside of his head, fingers closing around the hilt of his bow. There was already an arrow notched against the wire, ready and waiting to be used.
There was a whoosh, a rush of wind, and a crack; something - and someone - had flown past Chance, the dagger embedding itself in the wall behind his head. He twisted hastily, catching sight of her shadowy form as the creature hissed and turned around to face him.
Her smile was sharp, calculating, fierce in its hunger. Chance's eyes narrowed a little.
"Good evening," he said, his tone still mild in spite of the situation he was currently in. The coldness of the bow was seeping pleasantly into his skin, contrasting with the warmth of the cuff on his wrist. "Fancy meeting you here...whatever you are."
The bow was raised, an arrow glancing towards the Horseman.

Her smile was cold; it chilled him in a peculiar way, because there was nothing in her gaze but a sharp malice, a hunger for blood. Chance shifted one foot over the other as he paced quietly in an arc away from the Horseman, his fingers tightening on the wire of his bow.
"Unfortunately, yes," he said, the tone of his voice still as mild as it ever was, though Chance's eyes were narrowed slightly, his posture tense, ready to move. "You're a Horseman, aren't you?"
He clicked his tongue.
"Quite the temper you people have got."
There was a sharp snap, and the next arrow was loosed towards her.

Her chin dipped in a small nod, the smile ever present on dark features. "I am." Not just any horsemen, but an Elder of Death. The priestess held herself in high esteem.
The click of his tongue made her head tip gently to one side, the statement sobering that cool expression minutely, before the snap of the string and the arrow jerked her back as it took her high in the shoulder. It made her hiss, full lips pulling back from her lips as she straightened again and looked up at him.
"We have a lot to be angry for." And bitterness did not fade in time, but grew and festered, and burned ever brighter in the collective hearts of her kind.
She lifted her sword hand, blade turning, before driving it deep into the wall beside him. A queer move, perhaps, but she had hit her mark. The dark blade of the saber was buried into the dark on dark center of the hunter's shadow.
If he didn't feel the pain, he'd perhaps feel the impact, and if he could bleed, the warm wash down the center of his chest.
The blade was ripped free, twisting as it left the wood, and she drove it in again, and again. Over and over until the wall was more holes than solid surface.
In the uncertain light, her shadow bent and bowed, dance like.
HP: 40 DMG: 24 Fear: [ Shadow Strike Redux ] - T3 Swift Strike: Nergüi Will strike at a person's shadow, and if she manages to hit, her opponent will feel the blow as if she had actually attacked them directly. It may leave lasting damage in the form of superficial cuts and bruises in correlation with where Nergui struck the shadow.

He drew an arrow out of thin air and casually spun it around, pointing the icy tip in her direction.
"Do you?" Chance asked, relatively unconcernedly. "Well, admittedly I don't know the backstory of you all; I suppose I should one day do the research for that, but at the same time, letting your emotions get the better of you seems to be a bad idea."
He strung the arrow. "Hasn't anyone ever told you that fighting while angry is the worst time to fight?"
She lunged; he hadn't seen her move, but the blade of her sword was not directed at him, per say, but somewhere behind him. Chance felt the impact against him and let out a sharp gasp, staggering back, fingers clenched around the icy bow. A hand went up to his chest, pressing flat, and there was no blood, not yet, but he could feel each and every stab like it was directly into his chest.
Chance stumbled, slipped -
- and then stood up, a little smile on his face.
"Ow," he said mildly, registering no pain at all on his face. "That's rude, you know."
He spun the bow around, one of the sharp blades directed at her shoulder.

"Perhaps not," Chance granted, hands lifting a little. "But you're also going to need a lot more to kill me in general."
The blade smacked into the hand holding the bow, but it was a glancing thing, making him spin a little to the side without letting go. Asher gave a thrum of impatience, frost curling at the edges of Chance's fingers where they were wrapped around the bow's handle.
She'd given him an opening; Chance leapt nimbly back, snapped the bowstring, and fired off one arrow, that split into two, that split into several more, until a shower of them were raining down onto the horseman.

He was a cocky thing, or perhaps just foolish. Nergui wasn't certain which, and really, it made little difference in the end. Arrogant, dim, craven, bold; their blood was all red, and when you spilled enough of it ,the light faded from each and every pair of startled eyes.
This hunter would be no different than every other one.
The blade came up as he staggered, but instead of a quick counter the young man was jumping back from her. It had her pausing, features set in wary lines as that bow came up between them. A single arrow she might have been able to handle, but as that glittering shaft left his hand it splintered, then splintered again. Many, instead of one, and mismatched eyes widened in shock and alarm.
There was time to shatter a couple. One deft slash to cut them from the air. The rest hit, icy heads sinking deep before disappearing and leaving only the holes in their wakes. A barrage that knocked her back and threatened to spill her to her knees if she hadn't caught herself with the point of her blade against the floor.
"Powerful stuff," she conceded, voice strained. "But not enough."
Up again, she lunged. Another powerful swipe arced across his chest, but she aimed a second lower, cutting his feet out from under him, or at the very least, making him stumble. It gave her time enough to adjust her grip, to bring her sword up over her head to prepare for a vicious, downward strike that would sink dark metal through the hunter's chest.
"Goodbye." Cold and malicious, the tip of the blade started it's fall.
