☼ Customs ☼

User Image

Customs are B'alam made your own way! Do you have a character you want to have come to life? A beloved OC? A cosplay perhaps? Well this is how you can get your paws on that special B'alam!

First of all, we do have some limitations in regards to our customs here. We want to make sure that no one's confused going into this so please take a moment or two to read over the guidelines that we have. Our rules and standards are here to maintain a consistency shop-wide. Our old incarnation allowed just about everything but we've drawn a few lines so that we can protect the setting.

Secondly, only a few of our colorists are able to do edits! Please keep that in mind when ordering your customs. We do have edit shops, but those open upon the colorist's convenience.

Thirdly, guest colorists are not able to take on customs!

Edit-Able Colorists

Thalion - Owner & Full Time Artist
Ririka - Full Time Colorist
GunSniper - Full Time Colorist.
Little Yellow Jacket - Honorary Artist (Limited availability)

Standard Colorists

Tahja Estes - Honorary Colorist (Limited availability)

☼ The Cans ☼

Custom Can's •••
Choose gender, tribe, and age.
xx→ You can choose between ♀ and ♂.
xx→ You can choose between Earth, Fire, Water, Wind, Ice, Light, or Dark.
xx→ You can choose a cub or an adult.

You can choose secondaries.
xx→ Please consort the Beginner's Guide to know what secondaries can be used.

Choose markings, colors, and patterns.
xx→ Limitations do exist! See "don't's" to know what we restrict here!

▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄The following are for edited customs.▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄

You can choose a different expression.
xx→ These are pretty minor in general.

You can choose a different hairstyle on both males and females of any stage.
xx→ Growing edits may cost more.
xx→ Growing hairstyles will be longer and fuller upon adulthood. Cubs will have shorter hair.
xx→ Hairstyles cannot alter the actual coat of a b'alam. See "don't's" for more information.

You can choose props.
xx→ Props must reflect a stone age - dark ages time period! If you aren't sure, ask!
xx→ Props will be tailored to work for a B'alam, not a human.

You can choose outfits.
xx→ Attire must be fitting for a B'alam, not a human. See "don't's" for more information.
xx→ Attire must be fitting of the stone age - dark ages time period(s).
xx→ Attire can contain pelts of Non-B'alam creatures!
xx→ If an In-canon B'alam has died and you have permission, you may request that their pelt be used.
xx→ Bones, metals, and fabrics may also be used.

You can choose injuries and disabilities - with explanation.
xx→ You -must- be willing to provide an explanation for the injuries. Work with a friend or one of your own B'alam to explain these injuries! There are -no- NPC's and your B'alam has no history beyond the time he/she was woven.
xx→ Currently, the only physical disability (ie-those you would see as an edit) on a B'alam is blindness.

Cosplays!
xx→ Cosplays must be of copyrighted, corperate-owned characters. (Ex. Marvel characters, video game, book, and tv-show characters.)
xx→ Cosplays can be of OC's but they must be -your- oc's.
xx→ Cosplays of pets from other shops that -you- own. (You must provide proof of ownership!)
xx→ Cosplays can be styled in a variety of ways. See the Regarding Cosplays section of the Beginner's guide.
xx→ Cosplays can act, look, and sound like their inspiration but they are -not- that character. You cannot use NPC's or history that you have not role-played personally. Be creative!
xx→ Cosplays are not limited. If three people all want to get cosplays of Spider-Man, they can! They must, however, look a little different from one another. This is up to the colorist to finalize.

Things you can custom •••

In addition to the list above, you can custom B'alam to assist in plots, colony building, etc. We encourage creativity, collaboration, generosity, and world building here! Most, if not all, of our colorists will gladly take these projects on for a discounted rate- some of us will take them on for free! All we ask is that you use the B'alam for their intended purpose and that you do not abuse our generosity in this regard.

◘ B'alam for a meta-plot.
◘ B'alam to help fill a population for a new colony.
◘ B'alam victims. (War, murder plots, battles, tragedy, etc.)
◘ Your very own featured characters to begin a plot.
◘ B'alam for newbies and friends.

☼ The Cannots ☼

Custom Cannot's •••
Markings that are phallic, provocative, or offensive in nature.
xx→ Sexual implications, symbols, and references are absolutely not allowed.
xx→ Foul things such as urine, feces, bodily fluids, etc. are not allowed.
xx→ Drug symbology is not allowed. (Hemp leaves for example.)
xx→ Symbols relating to fascism, Naziism, racism, etc. are restricted.
xx→ Symbols associated with satanism are restricted

Markings that elude to "hot button" issues.
xx→ Party symbols such as the democrat or republican symbols are restricted.
xx→ Orientation symbols, gender symbols, etc. are restricted.
xx→ "Pride" symbols or symbols having anything to do with sexuality are restricted.
xx→ Any radical movement symbols are restricted. We're not here to make a political statement!

Pets that are cosplays of other people's characters!
xx→ Webcomic characters are out of the question. Off-White, LfG, etc. are all people's personal stories online.
xx→ Characters and designs not belonging to you from other shops are restricted.
xx→ "Cross-plays" are restricted. (Male cosplays must be male, female cosplays must be female.)

Supernatural effects are restricted.
xx→ Glowing eyes, markings, fangs, etc. are restricted. Only Light Orbs and some props (such as lanterns) can produce light on B'alam!
xx→ B'alam on fire, growing plants out of their bodies, whispy-magical effects, etc. are restricted.
xx→ Altered eyes such as spiraling pupils are restricted. Only Sages will have special pupils- and those cannot be customed, they must be earned.

Combining Primary Traits is restricted.
xx→ This includes gaining edits such as horns that would elude to the B'alam being from another tribe.
xx→ One wind wing and one dark wing will never happen.
xx→ Horns and wings will never happen.

Combining Incompatible secondary traits.
xx→ Again, see the Secondary Trait Guide in the beginner's guide.

Modern...anything.
xx→ No electronics. (Headphones, iphones, guns, etc.)
xx→ Modern clothing. (Baseball caps, etc.)
xx→ Symbols associated with our time period. (NFL logos, etc.)

Letter or number markings.
xx→ With exception to roman numerals, fantasy script, etc.
xx→ Corporate logos/names such as "Coca-cola" fall into this.
xx→ 0010100010100010101010.

"Too human" or inappropriate clothing.
xx→ No B'alam at any time will have pants, shorts, panties, thongs, etc. There's no in-character reason for it.
xx→ B'alam will never have use for bras.
xx→ Sport jerseys, t-shirts, tutu's, etc. will not be allowed. This is a common sense rule but we're restating it so it's black and white on the rule page.

Edits that would elude to undead B'alam.
xx→ B'alam can have a maximum of 2 missing limbs. These will need to be edited in an edit shop and will require rp proof of the injury.
xx→ Entrails hanging out, bone showing, or any fatal wounds are restricted. We don't have zombies here!

Edits that would "change the species" of the B'alam.
xx→ Hooves.
xx→ Non-fire horns.
xx→ Manes or tail fluffs like lions.
xx→ Gils, non-light scales, or fins.
xx→ Butterfly, dragonfly, or any insect wings.
xx→ This list could be really long. Let's just say no leopard appendages outside of their tribal norms!

Things you cannot custom •••

In addition to the list above, the BC is known for those that would find any loophole they can in order to ram their own plots through. Sometimes this is a good thing! Sometimes...this is a very bad thing that can cause friction. To prevent such friction, there are a few things that we are restricting here.

◘ "Fake breedings" between B'alam. You can use pets from outside of the shop for "Fake breedings" but because of our breeding standards, we will not allow B'alam to be crossed for 'fake breedings'.
◘ Surrogates. This goes without saying, but we're putting it down again just to be clear.
◘ Parents. All B'alam you receive via custom will be Gen o1 B'alam woven right from the hand of the Grand Weaver.
◘ Breedings. You can custom a baby into a legitimate breeding, but you cannot add an idol through customs. This gets extremely messy, especially if the custom is handled by a colorist that is not the breeder.
◘ Any blood relations. Again, all B'alam that are customed are Gen o1 and have no blood relations. Blood relations are made possible exclusively through breeding.
◘ Idols. You can only get these via breeding.
◘ Magus. You can only get these through role playing.

☼ Pricing and Examples ☼

Pricing Information •••
Pricing will be pretty fluid here, especially when it comes to edits. Every colorist has a different idea of what they consider to be simple, moderate, or difficult depending on their skill and how long it takes an individual colorist to complete the requested edits. However, we have set up a general "ladder" for all of our colorists to follow in regards to pricing.

A Note About References •••In order to most effectively complete your custom, the artists will require as many references as you are able to provide. It is exceedingly difficult to create a custom to your desired specifications exclusively on the written word. However, we do have a few notes that we need to include for the sake of the staff members:

xxFirstly, make sure that your references work!
Nothing is more irritating than clicking a link and having a malformed URL or an error come up. We will have to use whatever references do link and/or contact you for further information which will dramatically slow the process down. Please make sure you check your form before posting!

xxMake sure that anything you link to is either free to use, you own yourself, or you have expressed permission to use!
We have had situations where individuals will use DeviantArt links as references. We do not want to steal someone else's characters, concepts, or closed species. Please make sure that whatever you link it belongs to you.

xxDo not link to anything pornographic in nature.
Yes, we are all adults here. No, we do not need to know the details of your character's...private areas. Links to pornography, provocative images, nudity, or images containing references to (whether verbally or visually) naughty bits should be excluded. It's just not something any of us feel comfortable putting on our screen to stare at while we work on your art. We should be able to have our family walk into the room without a lengthy explanation of what might be on our screen.

xxIf you link to something you snapped on your phone, please find us some accurate colors to color-drop from!
We get it, not everyone has the means to provide great references. However, colored pencils, markers, etc. don't always give a consistent color for us to drop from. This problem is compounded when snapped on a smart phone. Please make sure that whatever you give us to look off of includes an accurate color code number or a pallet that we can drop from.
