When the last Shedinja was defeated Eugene fell to his knees after returning him. Dusknoir hadn't taken a single point of damage. Even when switching out Spoink Dusknoir held his own. Surprising the geek neither Simon or the girl taunted him for his defeat in fact the girl came over to make sure he and his Pokemon were okay. Once he nodded and rose wiping tears from his eyes, which Simon looked away for he apologized to both trainers for his rudeness before. Simon just smiled and thanked him for the battle, he agreed.

Picking himself up Simon considered heading off again, maybe to look for a few more baby Pokemon or just others for Simon to train. He found the Mega Stone for Sonia and probably should get her to Venusaur for the Mega Evolution. Thinking it over he was walking forward deep in thought when he heard someone clear her throat. Looking around he noticed a trainer looking at him. "Would you like to battle?" she asked and he smiled nodding, one more battle to train his friends up wouldn't hurt. Her first Pokemon out was "Klefki the key ring Pokemon. These key collectors threaten any attackers by fiercely jingling their keys at them." Sending Spoink out first Simon switched him out for Dusknoir to try to win this new battle.
Battle
Turn 1 Simon switches out Spoink for Dusknoir (810 HP) Klefki (350 HP) uses foul play, it's super effective - 95 (+20) 115 x 2 - 230 (-80) - 150

The girl, Stephanie, returned her steel Pokemon her next one was rock but then again Simon recognized that the typing between Klefki and Carbink was fairy typing. Good thing he wasn't using Noivern. As Dusknoir used blizzard Carbink matched their defense and special defense which meant there was no level boost anymore. For this turn at least there was no more level gap. Simon could rectify this by switching out again and he just might as Dusknoir knocked out Carbink.

When Stephanie returned Carbink sending out Dedenne. The electric Pokemon purred but Simon returned Dusknoir sending out Baltoy instead. Baltoy was a ground Pokemon so it stood the best chance of standing up against the electric mouse. Because Baltoy had no gender Simon just called out for it to stay strong and use rock tomb. The move wasn't powerful but Baltoy was relatively safe unless she had some sort of fairy move but they would come to that when they got there. It was a long, hard fought battle but Baltoy came out on top winning the battle. Cheering his friend on Simon called him over letting them know that he did good. As she sent out her next Pokemon Simon called Dusknoir back out.

The next Pokemon Stephanie called out was the fairy Eevee evolution, Sylveon. Baltoy spun watching the battle before him as Spoink hopped over to tell it how good he had done. Baltoy didn't really show emotion, like the ghost Pokemon Shedinja, but you could feel an air of happiness and pride coming from him. After one attack Sylveon threw up a Light Screen so Simon had Dusknoir switch from blizzard to shadow punch because with the boost of his Spell Tag it was able to do more damage than the ice attack. It was almost as if Sylveon was preparing the way for the last two Pokemon, fainting after using Misty Terrain to protect against status afflictions.

Slurpuff was the next Pokemon out, another exclusive in the wild of Kalos. Panting like a dog Pokemon Slurpuff could be a mix of a dog and a cupcake. A lot of bakers in Kalos used this Pokemon when battling while their bread or treats bake. With an exceptional sense of taste the Pokemon will tell them if a batch if delicious or needs work. Surviving a shadow punch Slurpuff jumped forward giving him a kiss that drained his health a bit returning health to it as well. Surviving a second Shadow Punch Slurpuff was surviving thanks the the light screen from the last round. Cotton clouds formed around Dusknoir lowering his speed but the light screen fell and Shadow Punch defeated the fairy Pokemon one more time.

The final fairy Pokemon was "Aromatisse the fragrance Pokemon. It devises various scents, pleasant and unpleasant, and emits scents that its enemies dislike in order to gain an edge in battle. Its scent is so overpowering that, unless a Trainer happens to really enjoy the smell, he or she will have a hard time walking alongside of it." At first the Pokemon used attract but because they were both male it fails so he switched to Moonblast to try to take Dusknoir down, in the end Dusknoir defeated him and experience was split among those who battled. Baltoy and Spoink grew a few levels. Thanking Stephanie for the battle Simon healed Dusknoir up and returned him.

With his team healed up again Simon looked around, there were a lot more people in general around here now. Not only trainers but just people looking at the lava or going through the tall grass in order to catch Pokemon. Seeing an entrance to the cave system Simon started towards it only to be knocked back by a larger man in hiking gear. As such Simon started to fail back when the man reached out and caught him. "Oh boy, sorry about that I wasn't looking where I was going," the man said to which Simon nodded. "Thanks, it's okay no one got hurt." The hiker laughed at that but nodded. "How about we have a Pokemon battle?" Shaking his head with a smile on his face Simon sighed, "Sounds great," he said as they went into the arena area. Hiker Glen started out with "Gigalith the compressed Pokemon. Compressing the energy from its internal core lets it fire off an attack capable of blowing away a mountain." It had been awhile so Simon started off with Spoink then traded him out for Greninja.

Since Greninja was his water starter Simon knew that the battle was over now. However Greninja was excited to be out and fighting. Squatting down he pushed himself up and flipped in the air doing a summersault before landing of which even Glen clapped at. "He sure is excited," he commented. "Yeah, he loves to battle." Glen returned the fainted Gigalith and sent out his next Pokemon, "Crustle the stone home Pokemon. Competing for territory, Crustle fight viciously. The one whose boulder is broken if the loser of the battle." Crustle chirped as it got ready for the powerful water attack but once again with the mystic water around Greninja's neck boosted the attack knocking the rock Pokemon out.

Glen returned his Pokemon and sent out "Barbaracle the collective Pokemon. When they evolve, two Binacle multiply into seven. They fight with the power of seven Binacle." Simon nodded at this one since Barbaracle wasn't just rock but water as well making the type advantage that Greninja had a bit less powerful. It didn't matter Greninja started to use hydro pump again. The blast of water knocked Barbaracle back but didn't defeat him as he also used ancient power hurling rocks at Greninja. They struck him but he shook it off and fired again knocking this Pokemon out as well.

Nodding Glen sent out "Probopass the compass Pokemon. It freely control three small unites called Mini-Noses using magnetic force." That was a great idea, since Greninja was water and dark, Probopass' typing included steel which granted it electric moves. Pointing out that to Greninja he told his friend to hurry up and take it out. A well aimed blast of water knocked Probopass out of the air. Glen chuckled to himself, "Perhaps I shouldn't just use a single Pokemon type." Simon nodded, "Yeah, two out of the three starters have an advantage against your Pokemon, water and grass." With that Glen returned his defeated Pokemon.

Only two more Pokemon to go. His next Pokemon was one Simon actually really wanted however a trade was required to get one. "Rhyperior the drill Pokemon. It puts rocks in holes in its palms and uses its muscles to shoot them. Geodude are shot at random times." He got lucky with Dusknoir at that Halloween event and would be eternally grateful for that chance to trade. Maybe if he evolved a Magmar or Rhydon he'd seek a trade out for their final forms but it wasn't an easy thing. He would need to evolve them, locate a specific item and then set a trade up. Until then though Greninja made short work of Rhyperior.

"You've made it to my final Pokemon," Glen said returning his Pokemon, "It took a long time and a lot of searching through many caves to locate her." With that he threw the pink ball into the air revealing "Diancie the jewel Pokemon. It can instantly create many diamonds by compressing the carbon in the air between its hands." The legendary Pokemon looked rather beautiful and if Glen located a Mega Stone for her she would be a real power house. Bracing for a tough battle Greninja fired off a final blast of water knocking her out. "Awe man, well I guess you beat us.""Your next quest should be for her Mega Stone, the ability she gains is amazing." Glen nodded, thanked him and returned her before heading off.

Done with trainer battles Simon sent out Dusknoir to go him while they wandered the tall grass. When a wild "Gliscor the fang scorp Pokemon. Its flight is soundless. It uses its lengthy tail to carry off its prey... Then its elongated fangs do the rest" appeared. Sending out Spoink, the little Pokemon bounced up and down next to him. Nodding at Dusknoir the Pokemon floated forward to take out this Pokemon. There was an instant knock out move that Gliscor knew and used however it was a normal type move and went through Dusknoir who readied back with a blizzard move which would be double super effective.

In a way I'm training Dusknoir right now and you're watching to get a bit of experience as well.""Oin spoin" "He understands and is happy at the thought."Dusknoir confirmed as Simon nodded and stood up when a wild Skarmory appeared. "Like now," Simon said as Dusknoir got between his friends and the wild steel bird. "Skarmory the armor bird Pokemon. Skarmory's steel wings become tattered and bashed in from repeated battles.
