It had been a long time coming.


Really, it shouldn't have taken him these extra years to do this. The constant struggle with his natural laziness at war with a desire to protect. It was a shame really, his race was longer lived than some others so he had the extra time as a teenager to do as he pleased. Though a certain flash of yellow and purple in his memory made him laugh. Oh yeah, he was doing this mostly from a certain ghoul and boils urgings.

In a blink of an eye, the room shifted. Stepping out of the tend he was placed in, a hang went up to shield the burning sunlight from his eyes. Squinting, he realized he was suddenly somewhere else entirely? Firstly, he was outdoors. Standing alone in the middle of a large mossy field, he turned around to see what his 'home' was, only to let out a laugh.

This was a dream, clearly. He hadn't seen this set up since he last saw uncle Fin. His uncle was polar opposite of his stickler of a father, and used to tell the most amazing stories of his travels as a merchant throughout Halloween. Adventures with daring, kindness, even the occassional crisis and sorrow. He loved it all.

He spent his time looking through the tents possessions, occasionally grabbing something up to explore it with more enthusiasm, what the jack did most of these things do? Even now he didn't recognize them.

Finally growing bored, he left the tent instead to explore the field he was in... only, it wasn't a field anymore.

With a squeak of surprise, he found himself ducking into a darkened alleyway. He had almost been spotted by a pair of humans, strolling along down a almost empty road. The sun was falling over the skyline as twilight settled in. Why the hell was he now in the human world?

Turning around, he realized his tails were still ever present... but the tent was gone. He was quite literally alone on this smelly patch of hardened street.

Until a noise caught his attention, and he frowned out at what he saw.

There were tiny scarelings running around, holding bags tight against their chests and making the oddest little mewling noises. A few paces behind them, a few humans followed chatting together as they went. Why where their children in the streets? Moments later more scarelings popped up, multiplying as the night grew darker. There were some wearing funny dresses, others walking pumpkins. The occassional zombie and ghost too.

Remi thought it was not allowed for children of his world to appear so blatently in the human one. Even better, why were they revealing themselves to the humans? "WOAH! Nice costume!" Realizing too late he had moved from his hiding place, Remi gave a startled grunt as he whirled around to find three pairs of eyes following him as they waved and continued down the road.

He knew now he MUST be dreaming.

Watching the 'trick o treaters' was an experience, but he really needed to return back to his tent.... and report something to the Authorities. Were these humans stealing Scarelings?

While his tent had not returned, there instead was a door cracked open. Taking it as a invitation, he pushed the door.

Only to stare out at the sudden all too familiar look of a classroom. It even smelled the same as he remembered them, this dream sure was lifelike! He sighed about to take his place in his usual chair, only to see all the chairs were full. Frowning, he looked at the desk... to see a sign labeled 'professor Bellefonte."

"...Oh, HELL no. "

He walked back out the door.

Running away from THAT nightmare had been easy. Remi was an awful student, how the hell did anyone expect him to teach others?

Still though, this hallway was super long. Was that door..getting larger? It wasn't until he was nearly towards the end that he realized somewhere in between he shifted from walking on two to four, and even more troubling.... his appearance was altered as well. He had not shed his human coat for his fuzzy one, well... not his usual anyways. He found himself smaller, with a single poof of a tail.

He had turned into a Pom.

Opening his mouth only brought forth the smallest, most pitiful squeak. Oh man, what was he going to do?

"Spot, whrre are you?" A voice called, looking up into the face of a young child. "There you are!" The scareling grinned, scooping him up (much to his protest) and carrying him back towards a different room. "I have been looking for you everywhere! Its time to play." She settled him down at a small table, a few plushies bunched around it with a childs teaset in the middle.

This was going to be a loong day....

"Spot?" A voice called, distant a blurry. "Spot?" He must have fallen asleep at some point during the scarelings teaparty.

"Why are you calling it spot?"

"because it only has a single spot on its fur.." Voices? Odd, they didnt sound like the little ones. They still sounded distorted, deeper oddly.

"You shouldn't grow attached to them, they usually dont stick around too long." The voice hissed, anger sharpening the tone as the words continued. "Anyways, we dont need the Minipet awake to continue the testing."

"But i wanted to see if they recognized the teaset we suggested to them for the dream. Or maybe the tent. Its fascinating to see if the suggestions actually effect the results i mean-"

" Phil, shut up and begin stage two."

A sigh. "Yes, boss."

The world went black once more.
