Long ago there was a village that lived by the forest. In that village was a man who loved the forest. He would spend everyday speaking to it, paying great respect to the spirits that lived there as well as the animals and plants. He would often share his lunch with any creature brave enough to get close to him and sing along with the birds. Yes. The mam loved the forest and forest loved his visits. Then, the man was sadly attack by one of his own kind left to die in the forest. The forest, enrage at the needless bloodshed, killed the attacker. It then grieved and mourned the lost of its friend. Unable to save the man, the forest turned him into a mighty camphor tree so his spirit may become a part of the forest.

The forest, now filled with hate towards the humans. It closed itself off, refusing to allow any to travel through or collect any of its herbs. Any who tried would either be attack or be sent right out the way they came. Only animals were allowed safe passage.

Now the man who had loved the forest had a child who was far too young to be without parents. To return the kindness the man had shown many times, the forest sent a fox to collect the child from the village and bring it to the forest. There the forest, spirits and all the animals raised the child as their own.

Meanwhile in the village many were growing sickly and in desperate need of herbs for medicine. The forest refused to help the villagers. It was till the forest child pleaded to let the villagers have the herbs that the forest allowed it. Under one condition, the villagers was to place a small shrine by the edge of the forest where they were to leave their request for herbs overnight. Then every morning, the herbs would be sitting there, having been gather end by the forest child. This went on for many years, the village and forest once again at peace.

However, all is about to change when a stranger arrives.

[BIO]
She used to live a happy life: Enjoying every meal with her loving and kind parents, playing with other kids of her age in the village square and spending her alone time with Alios, their fuzzy white dog. She had everything but it all changed in a snap. All of those was taken away from her when there was an outbreak in the city. She had seen it, that deadly disease. She saw how it stole the life from her parents, her friends and even Alios in just three days. With frustration and depression building up in her, she ran away. She know nothing to go now so she just allowed her feet to take her wherever. Even when her legs felt like they were on fire, she did not stop. Even when she had already entered an unknown territory, she did not mind.

A hooded figure passed through a road with endless rows of trees lining up the side. The head drooped, not allowing anyone to see the face hidden within the shadow. It walked slowly like a zombie. Its arms swayed on its every step, moving from left to right continuously. Hopeless. That's what one might say if he were to see the moving creature. Dane was indeed hopeless. After all those that she had witnessed, she found no more reason to continue living. "Live....no more....." she muttered faintly the words. "Life....." she then looked up and faced the terrain before her. "....Is worthless." was all she said before soundly making a Thump! and losing consciousness.

With fewer and fewer people asking for herbs it no longer took a whole day to gather herbs. He played with the animals of the forest. He had learned a lot about the herb and they can be used for many things he carried a few in his pockets of his pants that an elderly lady from the town made him. His short brown hair moved in the wind as a breeze rushed through the forest.

Soon a bird flew right to his side tweeting to him hovering just in front of him. He watched the bird as it flew toward him and then away toward the road. He brown eye's watching each frantic movement. He nodded lightly then followed the bird. He could tell that something was wrong. He followed the bird to the edge of the forest and looked out between the trees and the bushes He looked at a body laying there on the side of the road. He moved out from the trees he rolled the body over lightly he tilted his head as he looked at the girls face.

He placed a hand lightly above her lips he could feel her breath, He went back into the woods and quickly grabbing a leaf of mint a big leaf to hold some water from the stream. Once he had the water he ran back to the girl trying his best not to spill any water. Once back at her side he folded the leaf placing it by her nose and using his fingers to trickle the water on her forehead and over her lips. He lifted his head as he heard the sound of a cart coming up the road so he quickly ducked back into the forest. He watched hiding in the shadows of the forest.

She found herself lying on the green blanket of freshly-cut grasses. It was nice, realizing that it provided more comfort than a five-star hotel's queen-sized bed. She closed her eyes for a moment to feel it more. In her blank world she can smell its leafy essence, the gentle embrace it gives, the coldness of its petite droplets of dew and a shower of water it made on her face. "Wait. Shower?" her eyes flew open and she gasped. There was a man facing her. He is smiling at her yet she can't really see his face for the radiant rays of the sun made a curtain around him. "W-who are you?" she muttered with a stunned expression. Instead of replying, he simply grinned wider and stood up, ready to leave. She sat up and shouted at his fading silhouette. "Hey! Where are you going?". The mystery he holds provokes her to ask more and know why he is here. As if he heard her, he stopped. He turned around and opened his mouth when everything went white.

"Oi, missy!" a voice emanated somewhere. When she opened her eyes, she saw an old man wearing a worried expression on his aged face. "Wha.."she said softly and tried to pin her right arm to support her. A bolt of pain shot up and had her lie down again. She twisted to the side, trying to soothe her arm in burning pain. "W-wait! Don't move. We'll bring you to our village first." he said and called his companions. Two young men in their late teenage years drew closer and quickly lifted her to her feet. "You would be given help once we get there so please endure the pain in the meantime." he added and gestured the others to prepare a space in the cart for her. Blankly, she stared below. "Was it all just a dream?" she thought.

Mori watched from the tree line as he watched as the wagon pulled up an old man had one young man that was driving the cart to pull it to a stop as his eye's looked on the girl. He got help down as he moved to the girl trying to wake her. Mori knew that the mint would help her, but he wondered what had happened that made her fall. He watched the man tell the boy to move her to the cart.

The old man looked at the forest wall and nodded giving it a blessing and soon returned to the cart. The old man took control and tried to keep the wagon on the smoothest part of the trail.

Mori follow the cart tell the forest ended and watched the wagon disappear into the town. He knew the town to be nice and friendly. He just wondered to himself lightly. He shifted and ran back through the forest to the shrine he saw a new herb request and quickly went to work gathering a small bundle and placing it near the shrine tied with a blade of grass. He took a break near the river.

Even when they reached the town, she was still feeling neutral. Things have been happening too fast for her to catch up. She was confused too for she didn't expect any of this especially the people. The village people are too nice to her and very welcoming. They fed her nicely, gave her a room to stay in for the time being and spoke to her with kind words. As expected, they interrogated her of her origin, how did she came upon this place and why she was lying in the middle of the road. She answered them all with honesty even though she had trouble recalling where she came from and ended up crying. A firm, straight line drew on her lips at the thought. "Just tell us if you need anything, alright?" said the old man's wife who smiled at her. She nodded and the woman left. "Where am I?" she whispered her thought. She forgot to ask them about it since they have been too busy knowing her. "Ah never mind. I will have the time to ask them later anyway ". She unconsciously moved her hand to rub her eyes. It was one of her habits when she is feeling weird. After doing so, her eyes explored her surroundings.

They went to the wooden brown ceiling above her that gives her the vibe of simplicity. She also noticed the unmoved bookshelf gathering specks of grey dust to the far corner of the room. Books of different sizes and colors lined up each level obediently and neatly. At her left there was a transparent glass window framed with a square wood with intricate designs on it. From her position on the bed they looked wonderful and made her like this space more. She smiled a bit and glanced through the window. Her gaze met the sight of the blue sky and a bird's who was perched nearby. It was indeed a peaceful scene, something that she longs for. Her cheerful smile turned to a sad one upon remembering her past. Her grip on the blanket covering her body lying on the bed tightened as she repressed the wave of sadness trying to overcome. She went to a fetal position gradually and closed her eyes. "Not now." she thought before she drifted to dreamland.

Mori listened to the running water of the river the warmth of the sun hitting his skin. He looked up at the sky listening to the wind. His thoughts went back to the girl and he got up and began gathering small bundles of herbs that the healer would ask for he even gathered a small amount of mint each bundle was individually. He took great care in picking each herb.

He went to the shrine placing them down he would of placed them neatly, but he heard a horse coming up the road. He quickly placed the herb down and quickly dashed back into the trees. He watched a boy ride up on a horse and paper in his hand the same kind of paper that had he had found earlier the old man wife must be one of the town healers he guessed. The boy got off of his horse walking up to the shrine he looked down at the herbs in front of the shrine all but the mint were on the list. The boy grabbed all of them including the mint and the herb they had asked for earlier a smile touched the boy's face.

Mori smiled as he watched the boy quickly wrap the herbs in a moist cloth then get back on his horse and quickly rode back to the town. Mori watched the boy take off he as he relaxed in the tree near the shrine lightly closing his eye's and humming lightly.

The cold wind brought her soul to reality. Waking up, it sent shivers down her spine in a blink of an eye. Quickly she sat up and warmed herself by rubbing her arms. As she does so, her eyes blinked until her sight became crystal clear. "Didn't know I slept that long." she said as she stretched her arms out. Her room was in total darkness illuminated by the moon who seems to peek by her open window. It felt both creepy and beautiful, the adjectives coming from what she had learned from the movies. "Now's not the time to slack." she reminded herself and finally used her legs to make her stable. She walked to the hanger occupied by her jacket, retrieved her grey garment and wore it before she headed downstairs.

She heard voices arguing in the dining room. "Steven, hurry up with the plates! She might be awake already". "Yes, mother!". "Don't overwork yourselves, you two. " . She poked her head out from the room's entrance and saw the three busy preparing dinner. "M-may I help? You have done too much for me and it would be very shameful if I won't lend a hand." she offered help, a flush of pinkish color on her cheeks. They were all surprised just by the widened eyes and opened mouths evident in their faces. "Well, it's fine actually. But if you insist," the woman timidly gestured to the group of wooden utensils near her husband. "Thank you." she bowed a bit and hurried to start.

Mori slowly slid into a light sleep. His dreams were filled with magic the magic that he learned about the from the spirit of the forest. He had spent his whole life in these woods as long as he could remember he learned from more then the spirit he also learned from the animals. His dreams changed and darkened pulling him out of his sleep he opened his eyes looking at the darkened sky the specs of light from the stars and the bright light of the moon.

He climbed down collecting berries and herbs and a small fish. He went to the center of the forest to his home a small cave with a small fire bed. He started a fire to cook his fish with some of the herbs as it cooked he munched on the mint and the berries. He wondered of the boy had told his family about the herbs being at the shrine and then he wondered how the girl was. He thoughts didn't stay there long. He had to pay attention to not over cook the fish.
