Personality: At face value, Odette is an unusually timid troll. Raised by a mute lusus, she has a difficult time finding the courage to speak with others. She can be skilled at making small talk, as she is incredibly polite and enjoys complimenting others. But Odette finds herself tongue-tied over conversations about anything other than compliments or the weather. She keeps her head down in lengthy conversations— especially arguments, as she does not consider herself strong enough to voice her opinions. Her lowblood status also contributes to her lack of confidence, as she has been treated like trash all her life, and has been told that she should expect nothing greater for the rest of her short life. Because of this (and a particularly rough childhood), Odette hardly feels any self-worth.
Because she does not hold any self-worth, Odette seeks out others for validation. She feels strength and courage through her friends, and cherishes them for staying by her side despite the fact that she is an awful, puny lowblood. Odette is driven daily by the support of friends and the desire to earn their respect. She's always striving to prove her worth to others through hard work and loyalty. Odette loves making others feel happy and loves giving gifts, compliments, and attention. More than anything, Odette wants to be loved by those around her. She craves the feeling of importance, as it is something that she rarely ever gets.
Odette Cygnet’s main interests lie in dancing, notably ballet. Her lusus taught her the art, and Odette performs dances on the streets of New Hemisect City for food and beetles. She has more passion for dancing than anything else on Alternia. She is in better health than when she first started dancing, but still performs on the streets. She has hopes to join a ballet company, but has a hard time getting involved because of her social status. If forced into a corner, Odette will steal for food, but with restrictions. Odette will only take what she desperately needs, and not from lowbloods, drones, or otherwise intimidating trolls. She hates having to steal because she prefers to earn her living. Being forced into such a situation makes her feel like a failure at her craft.
Odette enjoys music, especially classical music. Her favorite composer is Troll Tchaikovsky. Odette envies and looks up to musicians. She would dabble in learning how to play an instrument if she had the funds, but she can barely feed herself on a daily basis. Odette also likes to read when she can get her hands on a good book. It's a quiet pastime she used to share with her lusus. Odette truly appreciates reading and music, but being impoverished keeps her from branching out her hobbies. If she made a better living, she could probably afford nicer things like books and instruments.
Under the surface, Odette has lingering anger towards those that perpetuate injustice. She has no particular problem with highbloods, in fact she often enjoys their company because of their similar tastes in culture. No, loyalist trolls and trolls who kill for sport are her problem. She feels a deep attachment to the rebel cause and impulsively protects lowbloods, mutants, and children. Odette does her best to keep her feelings locked deep inside her, but if you strike the wrong nerve or touch one of her friends, you’ll get an explosion of emotion. She holds grudges to an alarming degree, which stems from her loyalty to those around her. Her friends mean everything to her, and she would sacrifice anything— including herself— to protect them.
Strengths:
—Polite
Odette, being shy and non-confrontational, is polite to every troll she meets. Odette never talks back or curses, and she rarely has a bad opinion about a troll. In the off chance Odette is offended or angered by someone, she usually internalizes the feelings instead of bursting out at another troll. This is one of many unhealthy habits that Odette has developed with age. It’s more helpful than harmful, though, as it keeps her from getting beaten up by highbloods on most occasions. But Odette can be too polite. She hates reaching out for help when she needs it, because she thinks it will annoy her friends. In her skewed mind she thinks that it's nicer to steal from strangers instead of beg for help.

When Odette befriends a troll, she develops an intense attachment to them. She’s extremely loyal, and would do nearly anything for a friend. Other trolls can trust Odette with anything when she’s on their side. While she's normally terrified of conflict, she's quick to defend her friends and their pride. Her friends are what drive her daily, and she'll do anything to prove her worth to them, even if it means doing something she doesn't like to do normally. She’s a valuable asset on any team or in any quadrant. Her devotion is the only thing that would really drive her to a showcase of anger, because she won't stand for anyone insulting those close to her.

A dancer by trade, Odette’s muscles are built for grace, stamina, and coordination. Where Odette lacks brute strength, she makes up for it in agility. She’s small, thin, and flexible, and can maneuver past obstacles easily. She moves swiftly and has quick hands, a talent she developed from pickpocketing on the streets of New Hemisect City as a child. She’s also fairly confident in her dancing skills and her speed, making her a surprisingly dangerous opponent for such a small troll.
Flaws:
—Unconfident
Odette lacks confidence in almost everything she does. She’s not confident about her fighting skills, about developing relationships, or her personality. Odette is constantly second-guessing herself. She doesn’t comprehend the concept of compliments (at least, when they’re directed towards her), and is slow to acknowledge other troll's feelings for her. She sees herself as the lowest form of life, as she’s never been told she was anything better, so why would she think anyone would like her?
—Delicate
Odette is petite, thin, and terrified of everything, which makes her more easily prone to injury. She tries to avoid injuries as much as possible because when she does get them they’re often devastating. She's small and light, and therefore easy to toss around, especially in battle. It's just not her body that's frail, though, her mind is delicate too. Something as simple as cursing upsets Odette. She shares a lot of pity for other trolls in pain and therefore doesn’t like excessive violence. She wouldn't cope easily with killing another troll, and if she maimed another troll (especially inhibiting their ability to walk), she'd probably be traumatized.
—Fanatical
Being extremely devoted towards her friends has a downside. She has a tendency for clinginess, which is off-putting for the other member of the friendship. Trolls who show Odette false shows of friendship just to be polite might end up getting a lot more attention from her than they anticipated. Her devotion can get her into more trouble when other trolls befriend her just to use her. When she loses her friends, she always thinks she did something wrong, or that she simply wasn't good enough for them. She doesn't know how to cope, even when things aren’t her fault. Her fanaticism for her friends and their support tests the limits of her demure personality. If someone killed a troll especially close to her, you can bet that she'd seek revenge on the troll that killed them.
Lusus: Odette was raised by a small rat lusus with featherbeast wings, affectionately dubbed “Swanmom”. She was passive and practically mute, traits that were passed onto Odette. The small lusus was ill and frail, but did her best to provide for Odette. As Odette aged, the roles switched and Odette began to care for her lusus in return. The two were intensely close and shared good memories, one of which was Swanmom’s ballet lessons. Odette’s obsession with the dance form stems from this.
Tragically, Swanmom was killed in the battle for Old Hemisect City. Odette was overcome with grief from the event, and it only solidified her loyalty to the rebel cause. She holds a deep grudge towards the loyalists, and a deeper one for the troll that killed her lusus.
Home: Odette rents a hive in the middle of New Hemisect City. It’s small and ugly, but at least it doesn’t endanger her health. It’s just expensive enough to make it difficult to make a living, though.
Appearance: Odette is petite and feminine in frame, but has strong, lean muscles from dancing. She is often seen wearing her ballet leotard with a fur collar trim, white tights, and black ballet shoes. She wears a specially designed cape that helps her “fly” with the use of her air-manipulation powers. Odette keeps her hair back in a bun, with flowers pinned in the sides to make things pretty. She also wears a plain, black choker around her neck.
Odette's face seems to be perpetually stuck in a plain, sad expression. Despite her sad eyes, she has some lovely features, like thick eyebrows and lips. She wears a practical amount of make-up, any more and she’d sweat it off dancing.
Power: Aerokinesis (Agility Style A)
Odette discovered her powers after an intense battle with an adult troll, in an act to save her friends. She has Aerokinesis, the ability to manipulate air and wind. She hides her powers from most, but she does find a way to use them to strengthen her dance moves. She has the ability to glide thanks to a special coat designed by her friends. Her powers also come in handy in getaway tactics, as they make her more agile and give her more escape options.
