The Wind Tribe values freedom above all things. They were born smaller, lighter, but they were blessed with the gift of flight. Unlike the Dark Tribe, they can launch themselves from nearly any height and surf the tides of the sky. Nomadic in nature, the Wind Tribe rarely keep to one place for very long. Even their homeland, the flying islands, sail upon the winds themselves. They are a close-knit society of free-spirited creatures, living by their own code and their own laws- the surface world be damned.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

OOC ||
The judging for the Featured Characters will be pretty strict. These characters play extremely important roles within the tribe and will be founding family lines of important cultural figures within the Wind Tribe. We want them to be role played, and often. These characters are going to assist in building the culture of the tribe and preserving it for the future. Their offspring will carry on their legacy, and in a few generations their names will be remembered and spoken of with reverence.

Judging will be based on the following qualities ||
xxx Knowledge of the setting!
xxxxxx→ Study: Shop Front Page
xxxxxx→ Study: The Beginner's Guide
xxxxxx→ Study: Kumpania culture foundation.
xxxxxx→ Study: Wind Tribe Guild
We will be looking for knowledge of the shop's setting, knowledge of the W ind Tribe itself, and how you use the cultural foundation and 'ideal direction' of the tribe to your advantage within the prompt.

xxx Conformity to the founding culture!
These B'alam will awaken around the Magus of the Tribe. There are no references for them at the moment as the staff opted to sacrifice their getting official artwork for their magus for opening the shop up in the final summer month. If you want to make references to one of the Magus, currently the only named Magus is Shandor Riddle Mouth, played by Thalion.*

These B'alam would be educated directly by the Magus. Both Magus are extremely loyal to the tribe and to the ideals that will bring about the survival of their culture and their people. This means we don't really want to see any revolutionaries in the first FC's. These FC's are setting the standard for this culture's mentality. They were woven into being as ignorant as newborns, personally educated by Magus who were personally enlightened by the Grand Weaver, and mentored by their leaders until they were confident enough to begin teaching others. Revolutionaries or divergent thinkers right now would be...too soon. In this regard, we also don't want to see B'alam who would seek out relationships that would be non-reproductive in nature. Part of the duty of the FC's is to start a line, to bring about new generations personally educated and born into the trades of their parents. It's a little soon for alternate ways of thinking if a character is woven into a society that discourages it.

If the cultural information says that stealing is okay if it means survival- that is what the FC's will be brought up to believe. If the cultural information says that diverging from the body they were given, in any way, is against their laws, that's what the FC's will be taught.

xxx Creativity!
We want to know what your B'alam is all about. What is their personality, their future aspirations, what they want in a soul-bound partner, why they were chosen for their trade, how they go about it, etc. We'll score extra points for real thought and heart. If you research how they do their trades and express that through the prompt, if you really put a lot of thought into the character, and if you convince us that this is a character you will build on and role play we'll take your entry more seriously than if you're just trying to get something pretty for your sig. Remember- these are very important characters!

xxx In-Thread Activity and Behavior!
Whatever happened outside of B'alam is your business. We'll be taking a look at in-thread behavior, frequency, etc. as 'tie breakers' between favored entries. Sometimes we can't pick between plots, character ideas, etc. You guys have so much creativity and heart that we needed a system of tie-breaking. This is our way of letting you know that activity and good behavior are rewarded. Even though these award tiny points to the final score of every entry, it can be the difference between a close win and a close lose. Again, we -want- these characters to be active. They are essential characters. That said scores tallied from the previous fc contest will not apply to this one. This means everyone gets a behavior blank slate to start.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Enter only if...
→ you are willing to be active and roleplay.
→ you are willing to roleplay and be active with the tribe owners: Thalion & Depawsit.
→ you are willing to roleplay with other tribe members. These FC's will be trusted with the young minds of their tribe-siblings.
→ you are willing to play according to the rules and standards of the shop AND tribe.

Do NOT enter if...
→ you just want something pretty for your sig.
→ you intend to have your character break tradition. These are part of the founding culture. Defiance should roll out a little later down the line, not right at the starting line.
→ you want to give these to a friend.

xxx→ Do not copy the entries of anyone. If two entries are too similar, we will disqualify the one that came second.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Magus

Shandor "Riddle Mouth" ||
Shandor, true to his Gypsy Name, speaks in riddles. He doesn't like giving a straight-forward answer or statement if he can avoid it. He enjoys playing mind games with other B'alam and forcing them to come to the conclusion through a game of words. For example, if one asks where he may be off to he would likely answer by saying something along the lines of, "Well there's a cool breeze blowing in from the north and plenty backs that will shudder for it." instead of saying "I'm going to go steal a floofalo pelt."

He's laid back and it's very likely that few have ever seen him without a smile on his face. He laughs often and everything seems to roll of of his back. His anger, however, is worse than a gale wind. His laughter becomes cruel and his smile fills with blood lust if he's crossed wrong. Most are better off staying on the right side of him. After all, another one of hsi personal hobbies is getting into everyone else's business. It's safe to assume that he has ears everywhere.

Wind Tribe Termology

Gadje | A term used as an insult. Essentially, it means "non-gypsy". This could be applied to Wind Tribe B'alam not considered kin by their fellow Wind Tribe B'alam. This will be reserved for those who break tradition or betray the Tribe's core itself.

Abiav | "Wedding". A grand celebration is often held when two B'alam form a soul-bond.

Bar | "Brother".

Bhen | "Sister".

Doshman | "Enemy". This will be used for hostiles of the Tribe...which may become a thing quickly.

Dat | "Father".

Day | "Mother".

Pachiv | A celebration to honor special guests. This could mean diplomats from other Tribes or, eventually, a gathering of the Wind-lords under the Arch Magus.

Paguba | A raiding party. A flock of Wind Tribe B'alam that set out to the surface to gather for the Tribe.

The Dance Weaver
While other tribes may come upon dancing by chance, the Wind Tribe will be the tribe to perfect their movements both on their paws and in the air and make dancing into a true art. Their dancers will not be exclusively for entertainment- but they will be the heart and soul of the culture. Every dance tells a story, a message, or stands as the equivalent of a spoken prayer to the grand weaver himself. The dances woven by this lady will be passed on through the future generations of the tribe. They will tell stories of daring kinsmen, of the barbaric surface world, of their own creation, and of small and grand events within the tribe.

The Dance Weaver will be working very closely with the Composer. After all, what's a dance without a song?

She was chosen by the Magus because of qualities she showed upon their meeting and perhaps in the days to follow. You need to provide us with some reasons as to why she, of all the winged B'alam waking on the Floating Isles, was chosen over all the others.

Beware! The form is a small test of sorts. There may be trick questions that you will need to answer correctly if your entry is to count. Read the form carefully, take your time filling it out.

Side Notes ||
→ This girl will be working very closely with the Magus and the Composer. This should be mentioned somewhere in the entry.
→ She uses her telepathy to manipulate the ribbons and streamers she decorates herself with in her dancing.
→ She will be teaching other B'alam how to dance, the meaning behind every movement, and the stories they are to be representing.
→ While dancing is a universal thing, she will be the B'alam to perfect the art of telling stories through movement.
→ Eventually, she will be in charge of the tribe's mummers and troupers. Do a little research if you aren't sure what that means. ;3
→ It's very likely that she will be given the authority to choose her successor. (Final approval will be through the Tribe Owners!)
→ Her official title in the Tribe will be "Dance Weaver". She will be a cultural pillar.
→ IF the player of this character becomes inactive, the shop can make IC assumptions that she named a successor and we reserve the right to strip this rank away and hand it to a new FC.

|[ Prompt ]|
She has just woken up, she is as ignorant as a newborn infant. She has instincts, thoughts, dreams, and curiosities. She is a complete being, a sharp mind in the body of an adult. At first, she is only aware of the land that she has woken on. The wind rolls over her, whispering through the grass and the rocks and sending arcs of mist up from the nearby stream. She is unaware of the surface, of wingless B'alam, of anything outside of her own being.

Suddenly, something moves in front of the light. A pair of dark, laughing eyes and a welcoming but complicated smile greets her. He instructs her to her paws and brings her to the stream for her first drink. In the days following, she learns that this individual is Riddle-Mouth, one of the Tribe's Magus. He tells her about the Grand Weaver, shows her how to use her wings, and frequently asks for her own observations. What does she see in the wind? Why do the leaves tumble like that? What is the grass doing? What are the sounds trying to say? What do you suppose is over the edge of the island? Why does the sky hold treasures so far away? He never comments on the answer, he only smiles, sometimes he laughs.

One day the Magus finds her moving, perhaps trying to mirror the things around her. Leaves in the wind, blades of grass, even the ruffling of her own feathers or the graceful swaying of the banners and ribbons around the Tribe. Who knows? This encounter provokes a thought- dancing. The tribe should speak in dancing. But why her? Why should she be the one to script those stories and just how will she go about it?

Give us an example of a self-roleplay. Tell us how this experience goes. Tell us what she thought during this time of instruction, how she felt about it, what she observed for herself, how she took her role from her mentor, and how she progressed in accomplishing the task.

Show us who this B'alam is. Give us a taste of what we can expect from you in taking this role on. We want to believe this B'alam's story, her dreams, her personality, her spirit. There's no word limit.
The Grand Conductor
Song, like dance, is universal, but it will be the Wind Tribe that will perfect the art in their own way. Music is more than just pretty sounds and a catchy beat. Music is something that opens a pathway in the mind that few other things can even begin to touch. Music moves through the mind, body, and soul. Where words of stories and scripts fade away or get muddled, a song will remain imprinted in the mind and out-live even the author of the original notes. The Wind Tribe's culture depends on song and dance working paw in paw to preserve their history, their culture, and their accomplishments.

This boy will have a natural gift for music. He'll hear things that most B'alam will brush of as background sound and feel the potential for them. He'll bring sounds together that few others thought of. He'll be able to conduct simple things like the song of a leaf falling or the emotion sorrow just through sound. He'll eventually be able to bring out scenes simply through the song. Iconic sounds that will always be associated with war, love, laughter, and dancing.

As mentioned above, he will be working very closely with both the Magus and the Dance Weaver. How this relationship works out is up to you.

Beware! The form is a small test of sorts. There may be trick questions that you will need to answer correctly if your entry is to count. Read the form carefully, take your time filling it out.

Side Notes ||

→ This boy will be working closely with the Magus and the Dance Weaver. This should be mentioned somewhere in the entry.
→ He uses his telepathy to create instruments and use them to properly perform.
→ He will be teaching other B'alam how to make music, how to conduct it, how to play and create instruments. Essentially- he's a pretty important figure.
→ Eventually, he will be in charge of the tribe's bards.
→ It's very likely that he will be given the authority to choose his successor. (Final approval will be through the Tribe Owners!)
→ His official title will be "Grand Conductor". He will be a cultural pillar in the tribe.
→ IF the player of this character becomes inactive, the shop can make IC assumptions that she named a successor and we reserve the right to strip this rank away and hand it to a new FC.

He is unaware of the surface, of wingless B'alam, of anything outside of his own being.

Nearby, another being moves, though these movements are not those of a newly-woven B'alam. They are confident, precise, and purposeful. Curious, the male finds his paws and wanders over. Whatever the other B'alam is doing- it's making a sound. It's pleasing. It's speaking somehow... intrigued, the newly-awaked B'alam joins the other, staring with a child-like innocence. He is greeted with a smile and a polite laugh. This being is Riddle-Mouth, or Shandor as the Wind-Kin will be privileged to know. In the days to follow, he will teach the newly-woven B'alam about their world. However, the newly awakened B'alam won't be the best of students. Sounds distract him, he often loses himself in them. The words of his teacher become just another part of something bigger happening in his mind.

Noticing this, the Magus asks for the newly-awakend B'alam to share his thoughts. This exchange is given in the form of music.

What was the Magus doing that inspired the first thoughts of music? What was going through this boy's mind? What does he hear around him? How did he perform his first song for the Magus? How does he make his music? Give us some idea of who this boy is, what his mind goes through when he composes, and how he sees this new world.

Oops! She's missing her hind whisker. I'll update her image when I get home!

The Master Keeper
Most tribes are blessed with a fertile landscape and resources to maintain themselves. While the Wind Tribe are blessed with a number of things, a fruitful homeland is not one of them. The Tribe must take from the land below in order to survive. Some simply scavenge, taking to the unclaimed territories to gather food and resources while others fly in a Paguba to take from other territories. They never take more than they need and it's not done out of spite, it's just how they have to survive.

This girl be working closely with the Paguba Flock Leader so take that into consideration. Her job is to take the resources and food gathered and store it away safely. The Wind Tribe depends on one another for survival but they know that they are not perfect. There may be a need for their resources to be guarded, there may be a need for some slight distrust among themselves. That's where this girl comes in. The Keeper takes account of all things gathered for resource and sees that it's not only protected, but fairly distributed. Things such as trinkets and found objects are free game but food, supplies, and vital goods are taken very seriously. To steal one of these is to steal from the entire tribe. She will be, essentially, the at-home law enforcer. The Paguba report to her, and she's in charge of directing them in what the tribe needs the most at any given point in time. She is highly decorated with trinkets from the Paguba in an attempt to gain favor or show gratitude.

Beware! The form is a small test of sorts. There may be trick questions that you will need to answer correctly if your entry is to count. Read the form carefully, take your time filling it out.

Side Notes ||

→ This girl will be working very closely with the Magus and the Paguba Flock Leader. This should be mentioned somewhere in the entry.
→ She uses her telepathy to make marks and develop a crude system for keeping her accounts in order. She may need to seek out the Scribe from the Water Tribe to learn a written language down the line.
→ She will be needing to recruit keepers under her to protect and maintain their resources.
→ Eventually, she will be in charge of the tribe's food and resource supply. Let's hope this doesn't go to her head! It might...but let's hope it doesn't.
→ It's very likely that she will be given the authority to choose her successor. (Final approval will be through the Tribe Owners!)
→ Her official title in the Tribe will be "Master Keeper". She will be a cultural pillar.
→ IF the player of this character becomes inactive, the shop can make IC assumptions that she named a successor and we reserve the right to strip this rank away and hand it to a new FC.

The Paguba Leader
Most tribes are blessed with a fertile landscape and resources to maintain themselves. While the Wind Tribe are blessed with a number of things, a fruitful homeland is not one of them. The Tribe must take from the land below in order to survive. Some simply scavenge, taking to the unclaimed territories to gather food and resources while others fly in a Paguba to take from other territories. They never take more than they need and it's not done out of spite, it's just how they have to survive.

This boy is the leader of the Paguba. He is the boldest of the bold, renowned for his skill in the air and his sharp mind under pressure. He will train other bold, skilled B'alam of his tribe to fly in Paguba flocks, each with a leader appointed personally by him, to harvest from the grown below. Some will take to unclaimed territories, but there will be times when they will need to harvest from established tribes. It's unfortunate, but the survival of the Wind Tribe is first and foremost on this boy's mind. He lives by the honor of his tribe and as one of the chief providers for the Tribe, he will be revered as a hero of sorts.

He will be working closely with the Master Keeper so keep that in mind when entering!

Beware! The form is a small test of sorts. There may be trick questions that you will need to answer correctly if your entry is to count. Read the form carefully, take your time filling it out.

Side Notes ||

→ This boy will be working closely with the Magus and the Master Keeper. This should be mentioned somewhere in the entry.
→ He is one of the best fliers in the tribe.
→ He will be teaching other B'alam how to fly, survive, and harvest in the world below.
→ Eventually, he will be in charge of the tribe's Paguba, their raiding parties. He will also be the one to approve new Paguba flock leaders that will serve directly under him.
→ It's very likely that he will be given the authority to choose his successor. (Final approval will be through the Tribe Owners!)
→ His official title will be "The Paguba Leader". He will be a cultural pillar in the tribe.
→ IF the player of this character becomes inactive, the shop can make IC assumptions that she named a successor and we reserve the right to strip this rank away and hand it to a new FC.

The Quiz♦♦♦

xxxWhy is it an insult to be called "Gadje" by a wind-balam? To be “gadje” is to be non-Wind—and Wind Tribe consider all other tribes to be primitive barbarians. Generally speaking, “gadje” is usually used on Wind Tribe members who have betrayed Wind Tribe, signifying that whatever gifts of freedom the Grand Weaver gave them were obviously wasted on them.
xxxWhat's the only tribe that the Wind Tribe actually fears and why? Dark Tribe! They’re the only other tribe that can fly, and they tend to be more sturdy than Wind Tribe members.
xxxWould a cave make a nice hideout for a Wind B'alam? Definitely not! Leaving beside the possibility of a Dark Tribe member lurking in the shadows, Wind Tribe members tend to be claustrophobic. They’re happiest with air under their paws and wind in their feathers.
xxxWhy do Wind Tribe B'alam take two names? Wind Tribe B’alam have two names—their true name and their “gypsy” name. Their true name is the one they use amongst their tribe—their family. Their gypsy name is the one they use on the surface world. It is, in a way, a way of symbolizing the difference between the sky and the ground; in the sky, we are enlightened and free, and we use our true names. On the ground, we are surrounded by fools and barbarians. Why would we use our true names on them?

◘═══════◘

About the B'alam ♦♦♦

xxxWhat's his name? Kakaraska
xxxxxxMeaning? European Romani for “magpie.”
xxxWhat's his Gypsy Name? Flashing Smile
xxxxxxWhy this name? If you’re close enough to see his smile, you’re close enough to see your belongings gone in a flash.
xxxPersonality ||
Kakaraska always has a grin on his face, whatever else he’s doing. Training fliers, stealing from the surface, facing the authorities, he’s always smiling. He also very rarely touches the ground. Even in the mountains, he’s always flying. His training can strike some as harsh; he quizzes potential recruits to assess their cleverness, their loyalty, and the danger of them being caught. He’ll then test them on their flying abilities, swooping and diving. Yes, on the outside, Kakaraska seems harsh; but on the inside, he’s full of jokes and an overwhelming desire to see his tribe thrive. If a recruit wants to join a paguba but wouldn’t make it in there, he has to deny them membership. After all, he doesn’t want to see them hurt.
xxxWhat was his father like? Didn’t have one—he was woven directly by the Grand Weaver
xxxWhat is his mindset within the Tribe? His tribe comes before all other tribes. He considers himself to be a vital part of the survival of his tribe and considers no action too harsh to see them fed and happy. He thinks of the Master Keeper as his partner and his equal, a broker between him and those who need it. In fact, in his opinion, she makes life easier for him—while she’s divvying up the spoils of the raid, he can go back to work raiding some more! It’s the perfect system, and he’s intensely proud of it. If any of his raiders were to be caught by surface dwellers, he would probably try to rescue them, but he would wait until he could do it with the minimum of casualties amongst his tribe. After all, it’s cruel to leave Wind Tribe amongst the surface dwellers…
xxxWhat kind of plots would you like for him?
I’d like to see Kakaraska have to rescue someone from the surface. I’d also like to see his leadership perhaps be challenged or see him get injured and have difficulty flying.
xxxWhat will he look for in a soul-mate?
Someone who can keep up with him in the sky and tells better jokes than he does.
xxxWhat's with the mask?
His mask he made himself from some leather he snitched from the ground. He wears it because he thinks it looks good on him. Especially with those feathers in it.
xxxHow will he view the surface-dwellers? Surface-dwellers are a convenient way to turn raw materials into materials that Wind Tribe can use. They also save the difficulty of hunting for large animals or sheering fleece from the floofalo. Stealing from them is okay, because if they had any brains or culture, they would live like Wind Tribe and not spend so much time making pretty things—by the way, thanks for the pretty things, surface-dwellers!

Kakaraska’s wings were held in tight against his body, he plunged to the ground, the wind pushing at his eyelids and battering his streamers. He could feel the speed of the wind, could feel the push, could feel the pull. His lips grew wider to reveal his teeth, and just before he hit the ground, floomp! He spread his wings to catch himself. His paw just barely brushed a blade of grass. His smile filled with exhilaration and confidence. Riddle Mouth would be proud of him! Hey, where was he, anyway? Kakaraska looked up towards the sky, but saw nothing of the magus other than a speck against the clouds. He shrugged his leg-shoulders and climbed the sky once again. It was a challenge, but the warmth of the surface pushed him upwards back home. And Kakaraska did like a challenge, yes indeed.

Breathless with joy, he said, “How was that?”

Riddle Mouth’s eyes were narrowed in thought. He looked like he was contemplating something. “Those whose paws press dirt should hide their homes,” he said at last.

The way the magus spoke in riddles was already familiar to Kakaraska, but his curiosity this time extended beyond the full import of Riddle Mouth’s words. “Those who…press dirt? Do you mean there are B’alam who live on the ground?” That…made little or no sense. Ever since learning to fly, Kakaraska had been dissatisfied with walking anywhere. Why would anyone want solidity under their paws? Or anything on their paws, really?

The magus shrugged. “The Grand Weaver does not gift all B’alam equally.”

So…that meant… “Not all B’alam have wings to fly with?” he guessed.

Riddle Mouth nodded. As straight an answer as he was going to get. “Our tribe will live off the land, but thrive in the sky.” When Kakaraska made no sign of asking him to clarify, he continued, saying, “The heart of our tribe requires blood bold enough to dive to the surface.”

Kakaraska held his tail up high and fluttered his wings. His grin was already as far as it could go. “This drop of blood will flow as our heart commands.”

About the B'alam ♦♦♦

xxxAdunați
xxxxxxGather
xxxGreen Key
xxxxxxIt describes her color and references her occpation
xxxPersonality ||
She is flightly, no pun intended, but fiercely protective of her job, and all of the things that the Paguba acquire. She is extremely fair when it comes to partitioning the things that are obtained and will not accept anything less than complete fairness. She is ready and willing to fight over the horde that they collect, because she knows that it is the lifeblood of the Tribe. She enjoys her interactions with the
xxxHow many lovers has she had in the past? None
xxxWhat is her mindset within the Tribe? As much as she loves to fly, she will stay within the city to do her job almost all of the time. It is too important to leave completely to underlings or to trust that a gadje won't steal from them.
xxxWhat kind of plots would you like for her?
I would love her obviously to find a soul mate, but that is secondary to working with the Paguba and making sure that her Tribe has all the resources and food that they need to survive. So I would like for her to have direct contact with the Paguba leader and the Magus so she can get her work done. I would also like to have plot with her teaching younger Keepers about the job that they do.
In addition to that, having a rp where someone tries to steal from the tribe would be epic.
And maybe going on a trip with the Paguba during on of their raids/
xxxWhat will she look for in a soul-mate?
Someone who can make her forget her duty for a little while, but is completely okay with the fact that she puts her job first
xxxHow does she maintain the resources?
First, she sorts them into categories (types of food, different types of resources), all kept neatly and cleanly in a cave in the city, guarded by either herself or one of her keepers at all times. She tallies them with charcoal on the wall above each of their piles using her telekinesis, adding and taking away as necessary.
xxxHow will she work with the Paguba? Very well, hopefully. She will give them an idea of what they need, specific orders and sometimes more vague ideas, allowing them to use their own discretion as to what they get. If it doesn't have any value, she will leave it with them, but will expect them to bring her what they do need, no matter what. Of course, she loves the gifts that are brought to her, displaying them proudly on her if she can wear them, or proudly in her den.

Her wings were stretched against the wind, moving each gust coming off the cliff face. She knew that all she had to do was to take a few steps and that wind would support her, take her up up up. She peeked over the edge. Or possibly, down down down. She'd never flown before. Adunati couldn't help the feeling of excitement. The Magus was nearby, probably ready to catch her if she fell. But she wasn't going to fall, she could fell it in her blood. So, instead of doing as she was instructed and walk slowly off the cliff, she took a few steps back, and with a running howl, she threw himself off the cliff.

There was nothing beneath her by sky and clouds and wind. Oh Great Weaver, the wind. It caught under her wings and threw her upward. She giggled, catching an updraft and going higher and higher before folding her wings down below her and tumbling down, twisting until she didn't know which way was up, or sideways, and snapping her wings out, righting herself almost instantly with a shriek of pure joy.

Adunati was pretty far away from where she had started, and where Riddle Mouth was waiting for her. Well, she thought he was waiting for her. He might not be anymore. He was a strange one, that Magus. But at the moment, she didn't care. Adu glided for a while, making a map in her mind from where she had been to where she was, knowing she could find her way back. It was in her blood. She couldn't help it.

Catching a downdraft she flew closer to the mountain and spotted... something that shone in the sun. Without thinking about the fact Riddle Mouth hadn't actually taught her to land, she tilted downward, heading for that shining little spot.

She hit the earth with a tumble, end over end, giggling as she ended up tail over head. She was giggling because she was looking at a small round gold thing half buried in the dirt. Adu righted herself with a grunt and padded over to the little thing, brushing the dirt away with a paw, It was small disk of some kind, with an imprint on it, and a heavier gold around the edge.

Lifting it out of the dirt with her mind she studied it, she wanted it, and since she had found it, it was hers.

She heard the flapping of heavier wings than hers and she looked up, quickly snapping the pendant into her mouth and showing it off proudly when Riddle Mouth landed. She thought he was laughing at her, but that was fine. This was going to be the first thing she would be in charge of. The first of the Keeper's treasures. Only she didn't have to share this one. Trinkets where hers and hers alone. With a devilish smile, she threw herself back into the winds, heading back toward the city, keeping herself low, scanning for anything she could use for her soon-to-be-people.

xxxxxxMeaning? Latin for Nightingale
xxxWhat's her Gypsy name? Rhythm Dancer
xxxxxxWhy this name? Daulias moves and sways with a certain grace, precision. She has a certain rhythmic pattern that she uses when travelling from point A to B. It's almost as if she's dancing even when she isn't, hence her name Rhythm Dancer.
xxxPersonality ||
Ever curious, always fascinated Daulias is like a child in the way she is amused by new things. She proudly remarks them as being "interesting!" or "Fascinating!" and will find inspiration from them. In fact she finds inspirations wherever she goes and takes great pleasure in dancing out new sensations she feels and sights she sees. Trust, mistrust, hurt, healing, betrayal, guidance, emotions she can convey in only way she knows how! Through dance.
xxxHow was she treated by her parents? She never had parents as she was crafted by the Grand Weaver
xxxWhat is her mindset within the Tribe? With little food for the tribe in their homeland they have little choice but to take to the skies and search out new areas that they may plunder for wealth. It might not be right, but it is necessary, for how else could they live? She is aware of the hardships the tribe must go under in order to live, in order to take food needed to sustain themselves. Daulias chooses to convey her pent up emotions, and whatever conflict she feels through dance. Dance is entertainment, dance is emotion that can reach to others. Sometimes in a way that words simply can't.
xxxWhat kind of plots would you like for her?
Daulias' heart is at home. Yet her mind is always exploring. I want for her to search out the lands, see new wonders and more things to give her ideas. Yet always she will become homesick and need to return. She'll take pleasure in teaching others her moves and her beat, the way she walks and talks. Perhaps she has a favourite pupil that she teaches new things too, or maybe she finds someone who cannot see the beauty in her movements and manages to convince them other words. That would be a good way for her to reach out and learn she is a leader.
xxxWhat will she look for in a soul-mate?
Daulias looks for beauty in anything and everything. She'll be looking for the natural beauty of her mate. Not necessarily his appearance his actions, or maybe his voice. She'll feel comfort around a nice individual, someone who can appreciate her desire to dance, to leap, to jump. To fly
xxxHow does she come up with her dances?
Daulias comes up with ideas by travelling, yet she doesn't even need to travel that far to become inspired. The way the grass moves, a particular branch on a tree, the flow of water in a lake down below... All of it inspires her. She sees what others don't, what nature conveys with it's natural beauty. New things inspire her! Old things inspire her! Emotions, confusion but most of all creatures. She creates new dances from the other B'alam and creatures she meets, interested and amused by the things they say and the way they say it.
xxxHow will she view the surface-dwellers?

She is amused by surface-dwellers and almost feels bad for them as they lack beautiful wings. However she is curious about them and although wary of them won't hesitate to approach and observed the difference between the wind tribes and other ones. At the end of the day she is still scared of them however and will run along home leaving those scary and mysterious barbarians behind.

Tell her story ♦♦♦

Daulias could feel the world around her. It was sensational feeling, a new, a brilliant, an incredible feeling! She laughed carelessly, grinning to herself in joy. Backwards she walked, like a river in reverse. She swayed gracefully to the left, and leapt over to the right. Her wings were outstretched, as if she was to fly. Instead she use them to aid her in her motions, to help as she attempted graceful maneuvers. Like a bird in midair, she performed a backwards loop. Like a snake that slithered through the grass she bowed her feet in an S like shape. This was… New, amusing, extraordinary. What should she call it, these shapes, these movements… “Dance.” She said the word aloud. “Dance! Dance!!” She exclaimed. Yes, dance, it was a pleasant word! Suitable for a pleasant activity!

The others should know of dancing. The thought sprung into her mind. Who was she, to keep this gift, this unique ability all to herself? “The others should know.” She repeated to herself. But how? How would they discover. ’You could show them.’ The thought emerged into her brain. Oh, yes, that could work! She knew of this, this dancing activity. She should be the one to show others of it!

Why her? Why not her!

Daulias took a step forward, towards the edge of a floating cliff she had been walking closer to. Closer, and closer, until she could look over and down the mountain. The bottom was invisible, shrouded in silk like mist. Another of her blue and yellow paws inched closer to the edge, until finally she allowed herself to drop. Falling was magical, it filled her with new ideas, with creativity and how to show the others the gift.

“Dance!” She cried and disappeared under the mist, only to reappear seconds later. She repeated this maneuver a few more times. It was almost as if someone was shouting to her… “What are you doing?”

“Dancing!” She cried, and twisted the mist with her wings, shooting up from the clouds and twirling in the wind. “It’s… It’s fun!” She declared, and grazed through the mist as if it was a river of grass. A flip! A twirl! She laughed happily to her movements. Finally, she landed upon the island once more. “The others should know!” She repeated again. “They should know, and I will show them.” She grinned. She just needed to find the others. When she did, Daulias knew somewhere in her heart that others would soon follow. That others, like her, would be blown away by the thrill and excitement that her ‘dancing’ contained.

◘═══════◘

About the B'alam ♦♦♦

xxxWhat's her name? Talaitha
xxxxxxMeaning? damsel,maiden
xxxWhat's her Gypsy name? Dancing Winds
xxxxxxWhy this name? I chose this name because she is a dancer and it suits her very well.
xxxPersonality ||
She is a very go-with the flow kind of girl, which means she does follows whatever happens and sees the outcome. Like her dancing she is fluid like her dance steps. She is very artsy, she loves dancing and she finds inspiration in anything she sees. She is also outgoing and friendly, she loves making new friends and she loves talking about her dances. She is if anything a little perfectionist, so she works hard to make sure all her dances are perfected because she believes that having a perfect dance brings intrigue and mystery. She believes that her dances tell a story without words and with just simple to complex body movements. She is a very dedicated girl, she is always willing to put 100% into new movements. She is also very patient.
xxxHow was she treated by her parents? At first her parents did not support her interest in dance, because they had never seen her perform. But, over time as her parents started to go to dance performances they slowly started accepting that their daughter was full of beauty and grace and her dances always told stories with body movements.
xxxWhat is her mindset within the Tribe? Her mindset in the tribe is that she is seen as a story teller but only in her body movements and she is enthusiastic about exploring the world and sharing stories of her adventures through dance. She also believes that it is important to stay loyal to your tribe no matter what. She also believes that you should be true to herself and that she plays an important part as a storyteller.
xxxWhat kind of plots would you like for her?
To be honest, any plot would be okay with me. But, I would also like plots that help her encourage fellow dancers like herself to freely express themselves through they form of art and that it is always better to be true to yourself then someone who are trying to be. Also, perhaps maybe as a dance coach to fellow wind tribesman who have any interest in dance. I would also like plots where she befriends surface-dwellers.
xxxWhat will she look for in a soul-mate?
She would like to meet someone who is accepting to dancing and how her dances tell a story. Someone who is a form of encouragement and support and who is willing to be there for her when she needs them most and someone who is willing to help her improve or even add to her dances.
xxxHow does she come up with her dances?
She comes up with ideas for her dances through, everything she sees around her. She finds inspiration in anything surrounding her and she finds that anything of nature always has a hidden beauty that she can express through her dances. She takes time to observe the movements of things and the believes that she could recreate them if she put her mind to it and if she dedicated time to it.
xxxHow will she view the surface-dwellers?She will view surface-dwellers as giving her oppurtunities to tell them how her lifestyle is and sees them as playing an important part in the survival of the wind tribe. At first she will probably see surface-dwellers as beings that are so full of themselves and selfish but once she befriends them her impressions of them may change.

As her instruction lessons progress on, she takes time to observe the movement of the breeze, the leaves tumbling and the water flowing. Through this she starts to figure out the dance steps to mirror these actions. The movement of the breeze to her was like a waves rolling to and fro and hitting against the shores of the water. She tried her best to mirror it, but with no aval but with the encouragement of the magnus she discovered that she would need to move her body in a way that imitated the waves rolling on the surface of the water. This experience to her was one of enlightenment and one of gracefulness.

In the weeks that followed Riddle-Mouth taught her that the key to fluid movements was keeping your mind clear and your movements smooth and inviting. The next lesson was imitating the movement of the leaves tumbling down. She glanced at him for some advice but he encouraged her to discover how the movement can be translated into a dance step. She took a breath and let it out gently and started to learn the the tumbling leaf step. It took her days and nights but finally she figured it out, and once she had she explained to Riddle-mouth the emotions she felt.

After a few weeks of perfecting the first two dance movements she could perform them with fluidly and smoothly at the same time telling the story of how the the breeze brings a sensation of tranquility and the emotions that it brought up and she told the story of how the tumbling leaves brought a sense of joy and peacefulness and how they tumbled from their trees. Her last test was the imitating the flow of water, she felt that this was by far the most hardest one she had to ever perform, like with her first two she cleared her mind and focused she took time to observe out the flow of water and with a bit of help she was able to imitate the flow of water. She glanced at Riddle-Mouth and smiled and thanked him for the lessons.

She personally felt that the experience was eye-opening, it gave her a sense of enlightenment and it gave her a sense of poise and gracefulness, but through this experience the most important thing she learned was that it was better to be true to yourself instead of being someone who you are not meant to be. It gave her the sense that there is nothing to be embarrassed about if you prefer to express yourself through dance and the fluidity of your movements. But, she also learned that learning new dance steps took lots of time, effort, focus and patience. She left this instruction session with more confidence then she had when she first woke up.

Aer is a very traditional tribe member. She believes in the good of the community and takes offence to those who do not believe that how they survive is the correct way to do things. xxxHow does she come up with her dances?
She ponders on the thoughts and feelings of the members within the tribe itself. Conveying the collected feelings and thoughts in movements to the tune of music. xxxHow will she view the surface-dwellers? Aer doesn't have a solid opinion on them. Though she feels that the tribe stealing from the surface is needed and proper, she doesn't feel any kind of resentment of the surface. Often taking inspiration from the land itself and the ones who dwell in it. If given the opportunity she would share her dance with the surface as well.

Aer Dansuri took a deep breath. She had never felt something like this in her short life before. It was... alive. Something that simply seemed to take control of her very core of being. Feeling the wind go through the grass. Touching her feathers and caressing the soft fur over her body. The wind sang to her. It was soft for now, but she felt that the rythm it was bringing to her soul was something that could no longer be ignored.

Breathing in the breeze and spreading her wings, she let the breeze lightly flow under them. Starting to move her hips a bit, she listened to the song on the wind. She moved lightly. The breeze singing to her soul, the wind whispering the movements to her paws. The light airy feeling flowed through her. The pads of her feet never touching the ground for more than a few seconds.

Wind catching under her wings again, she decided to try some moves in the air. She listened to the rythm, going with the stream of air. Moving like a leaf on the breeze, lightly flowing and falling to the ground. The movements came to her like they were second nature. Something she had simply been made to do. She wasn't sure why it was she seemed to be destined for something like this, she simply felt it was so. The wind iteself whispered it to her. Her soul yearned for the movements of the wind.

Aer decided that she would continue this practice. It was something that she was built for. Something that the tribe could benefit from as well. They would all enjoy watching the wind in her soul. The breeze for which they all yearn to feel under their wings. She would love to teach these things to others in the tribe as well. Teach them how to listen to the rythm and soul of the breezes. Even the lightest wind had a story to tell.

He has just woken up, he is as ignorant as a newborn infant. He has instincts, thoughts, dreams, and curiosities. He is a complete being, a sharp mind in the body of an adult. At first, he is only aware of the land that he has woken on. The wind rolls over him, whispering through the grass and the rocks and sending arcs of mist up from the nearby stream.

Frumos was so very new to the world still. He's learned so much in his short life already and there was still so much to learn! The excitement simply welled within his stomach and soul. He couldn't believe all the things that he heard around him all the time. The songs he heard on the wind always made it hard for him to concentrate on what he was suposed to be learning. But he simply felt that these songs had to be listened to, had to be shared.

When he first started trying to form the music from his soul into something others could hear, it was rather difficult. He could only make a small instrument, just something to push his breath through. But oh how he made the small thing sing! The song in his soul was able to be conveyed in a small way, but it was such a big and exciting thing!

He made another instrument soon after. Using this new one to convey his soul even better still! He couldn't believe the various noises that he could make with this new thing. It was something he had longed for while he was listening to the wind. Something he needed to share with the world! It was then he came to know his purpose in life. His soul screamed to teach others. To grow his need to share. To grow the song of his soul and teach others to do the same.

The Quiz♦♦♦

xxxWhy do the Wind Tribe B'alam have to harvest from the surface? Their home land is not a place where they can raise any kind of livestock or crops. So in order to survive, they need to steal from the surface.
xxxHow does one obtain a Magus? Only through roleplay. There is no other way to obtain an Magus but through roleplay.
xxxWhat is the Wind Tribe's season? March & April
xxxWhy do Wind Tribe B'alam take two names? They take a true name, which they only share with their brothers and sisters within the tribe. Then their Gypsy name is what they use on the surface world.

◘═══════◘

About the B'alam ♦♦♦

xxxWhat's her name? Onoare
xxxxxxMeaning? It means Honor
xxxWhat's her Gypsy name? Strong Hold
xxxxxxWhy this name? This name suits her because she takes care of the precious supplies for the tribe.
xxxPersonality ||
Onoare is a strong and fairly independent member of the wind tribe. She often checks up on the stores and keeps a rather decent system recorded in order to keep track of all the supplies that goes in and out. Though typically a loner, she enjoys the times with the tribe is busiest and the streets are filled with other wind members. Watching all the dancing and listening to all the music that she can!
xxxHow many lovers has she had in the past? She has only had one love in the past. This love went behind her back and attempted to corrupt her system for the stores. This is the reason she doesn't trust others when it comes to the stores.
xxxWhat is her mindset within the Tribe? --- is a traditionalist to the core. She will never believe that stealing from the surface world is wrong and will always believe that they need to do this for the good of the tribe. The one thing that she will never understand, however, is why so many seem to not like the surface world. Since she doesn't get to go there, she'll never understand.
xxxWhat kind of plots would you like for her?
She will be seeking out a better way to keep track of all the stores for the tribe. Maybe a bit of strife along the way where she is not trusted by the water tribe member teaching her language. Something could go missing while she is around, but she is then cleared of wrong doing when they find the things with another.
Her meeting someone else strong willed like herself will be very important only because she will be spending so much time with the stores and with the tribe. She will need someone who understands why she does what she does.
xxxWhat will she look for in a soul-mate?
She will be looking for someone who is strong and capable. Another who can either guard the stores, or one who actually goes out and gathers the things for her stores. She would be attracted to someone with a strong sense of duty and honor like her own.
xxxHow does she maintain the resources?
Onoare has come up with a decent way to keep track of all of the goods. Everything has it's own tally and work in it's own area of the store. She doesn't like to mix things around. Her crude counting method will work for a little while, but she will eventually seek help to keep herself better organized.
xxxHow will she work with the Paguba? She will attempt to keep them in line. Her order will not be messed with. Being in charge of everything in the stores means that she will be the only one to touch anything within the holding area. She will attempt to always be kind and collected to those who bring her things, but will have a sharp tongue ready for anyone who doesn't do as she says when it comes to her stores.

Tell her story ♦♦♦

Nearby, something approaches. Her belly growls as she catches scent of something...different. Another B'alam, larger than she with a dark pair of eyes sharp as daggers but playful as a cub, approaches. Something hangs from his maw- the source of that wonderful smell. He drops it at her paws and noses it closer, encouraging her to eat. She obliges and soon the ache in her belly goes away. Curious, she inquires after this feeling, who he is, and more importantly- who she is.

Who does she think she is? Her question is met with a question, and she is forced to stop and think about her answer. Who is he? Who does he seem to be? What was that thing? What did it seem to be? Question met with question, riddle after riddle. In the days that follow, she learns about the land that she's woken on. She's taught how to fly and shown the edge of the island. It's also explained that food is not easy to come by- that it must be gained somehow. Not everyone will be talented in the sky, nor bold enough to venture below the clouds. She brings this up, concerned for others like herself in the future.

Pleased with this concern, the Magus explains that he plans on issuing her a partner and a task to solve this problem. How this settles on her is up to you.

Onoare blinked in awe. This was a new day. The day that she was actually going to figure out how exactly she was going to help with the problems of supplies. She had started scouting for a good place to make a store house. Someplace that wouldn't be too far a distance from the main hub, but at the same time, someplace that would be a good enough distance away to discourage anyone from trying to steal from the tribe. It was something most didn't do to their own brothers and sisters anyway, but you simply never knew when a Gadje would rear their ugly head. As she continued on, she found a rather decent cave. Though the mouth wasn't very wide, the inside was spacious. It still amazed her when she could find things such as this on the islands. Smiling to herself, she decided that this would be perfect.

Over the next few days, she made arrangements to create a door to the cave. Something that she could secure and know that no one else but her and the ones who could be trusted could get in. She also made sure that everyone knew what she had planned. That she was going to take care of all the important things that the tribe needed in order to survive and split them up between them all evenly. She wanted nothing more than to help her tribe be the best that they could be.

A few weeks later, she had the stores in working order. She had even devised a good way to keep track of everything in the stores. A way that only she knew. This was to further prevent anyone from trying to steal things from the good of the tribe. She lived not too far away from the stores as well, just to keep better track of them. Though she might be seen as stuck up to most others, she enjoys what she is doing for the tribe and wants nothing more than that.

Briza is a free spirit at heart. Though he enjoys his freedom, everything he does is for the good of the tribe. Going down to the surface world was something that he lived for! He is unaware of the surface, of wingless B'alam, of anything outside of his own being.

A shadow rushes by overhead, swift as a breeze and just as effortless. The male watches this figure, his own wings stretching out, aching for the wind. The figure swoops, opens his wings, catches an upward draft, and rockets upwards. After a few passes, he lands near by with all the confidence of a king. Intrigued, the newly-woven B'alam approaches, his wings beating eagerly. What was he doing? Isn't that the question? But how? Wouldn't you like to know? A question for a question.

Over the following days, the newly-woven is taught how to fly. He's shown the edges of the islands and taught about the different currents that flow through the sky. Without hesitation or fear, he dives down below the clouds. The magus he's come to know as Riddle Mouth dives down behind him, more curious than anything. The world below stretches out under him but the newly awakened B'alam is filled only with excitement and wonder. He dives, sweeps, sways, and surfs on the wind. He challenges himself against the terrain and flies tirelessly through the unknown. When they return to the Islands, the Magus approaches him with a proposition. How would he like to be the trail blazer to the surface? How would he like to be the tribe's lifeblood?

Briza couldn't believe what he had been asked! It was an amazing chance to go out and about into the lands. Something he had longed for since that first flight. He had accepted as soon as he could! How was he really going to go about all of this. He would need to gather together others who will have to be just as passionate as himself to see the lands and to the tribe itself.

He took off to go and start scouting the lands below. Taking off on the breeze, his heart soared. It felt so freeing to be out in the wind, out among the clouds. He felt like this was simply the place he was meant to be. Something he was meant to do.

He soared in and out of the clouds, being lifted up and then diving back down towards the land. The heart and soul within him bounded with the drafts of the wind. All the things he saw in the lands. All of the valleys and hills to fly through were amazing. There was no way he could ever contain himself. He would do his duty to his tribe and gather all the things they need. Willingly he would go to the ends of the earth to keep his tribe afloat. He just hoped he would be able to find others who felt the same.
