Quote: THE TWISTED TUNNELS gaia_crown [ LOCATION ] Unnamed Location in Northern Scotland
gaia_crown [ SETTING ] "The caves along the coast of northern Scotland are not exactly the most... easy to deal with. Salt air wears down metals along with wood, and so the old outpost of the hunters has long since fallen into disuse. Yet now hunters plan to return to the area and unlike hunters, horsemen have no problem with the winter freezes or the salty air. Go into the caves and destroy the old hunter equipment once and for all, and make sure to signal that you have laid your claim to the land."
gaia_crown [ MISSION ] The caves are unlike our caves. Damp and wet from an ocean's waves they have crude markings of human life... and the stench of hunter machinery. The forests nearby marked with the human gods old and new- Gods will not save them here. The tunnels were once a secret refuge for the hunters of this land, though the coast is as unforgiving as the chill and it has long since been abandoned. Their machines were constantly worn by the salt winds and the ice freeze- proving to much for them and sending them elsewhere. Yet they have been seen- reassessing. Rethinking. Go, stop them from taking back their old hive and make it our own new nesting ground.
gaia_crown [ MECHANICS ] Roll 1d100 until you've dismantled 5 hunter objects or have been killed. Your HP is your normal HP.
1 - 10 : The sound of an old generator buzzes faintly under some dirty white coats. It's large and bulky and on it's last legs of life- thankfully it looks to have not been powering anything. (+1 Hunter Tech destroyed) 11 - 20 : You trip over an old runic dagger that briefly flares to life upon contact with you. Owch! (-5 HP) 21 - 30 : A small camera glows faintly in a corner, best show it your good side. The deadly one. (+1 Hunter Tech destroyed) 31 - 40 : You hit your head on the cave ceiling. Nice going genius. (-5 HP, -10 HP if you have horns!) 41 - 50 : A TV sits alongside a DVD of a children's movie. As you break it you feel the need to cry out, 'I'M GONNA WRECK IT'. (+1 Hunter Tech destroyed) 51 - 60 : The floor here is wooden and water has rotted it down. It breaks and your leg slips through, nearly sending you down into a dark pit of brackish water. (-5 HP) 61 - 70 : Old trapping guns, torches- the cache of weapons in boxes is alarming... if it wasn't all depleted of energy that the runes needed to function. Rip the little hunter toys to shreds! (+1 Hunter Tech destroyed) 71 - 80 : Rocky footing makes it hard to navigate, and the narrow cave means that your bulk is already hard pressed in this narrow passage. (-5 HP, -10 HP if you have wings!) 81 - 90 : Coats, clothes, MREs- items you know hunters need. Supplies of the most vital sort. Tear into them a new one. (+1 Hunter Tech destroyed) 91 - 100 : As you go deeper you accidentally fall into a tide pool and land face first on a rock. Hard headed indeed, at least you didn't have to taste dirt, just a bit of sand. (-10 HP)
gaia_crown [ BONUS MECHANICS ] After destroying 5 hunter objects, carve the symbol of the clans into the mouth of the cave..or better yet paint it in blood where it won't fade away. Let the hunters know just who came here this day and who really claims this place as their own.

attempt 1Even though he was now a phony pony, masquerading as a gung ho, fully committed follower of Destruction, day to day life remained surprisingly tolerable for Mmur. He had settled into an actual room in the catacombs, the first real space he'd had to himself... ever... and he was carrying out a secret agenda that he had come up with all by himself. That it ran parallel to the one laid out by Medea in some ways didn't faze the soldier, at least not right now. He hadn't even been forced to attend Thera's most recent class, though he'd had no trouble hearing the resulting human screams and whimpers echoing from the water pavilion. Not so long ago, he might have thoroughly enjoyed them, but... well... he still kind of had. The feeling faded the more he pondered his reaction, and it wasn't like he enjoyed enjoying them... Mmur sighed. His new life was most definitely a work in progress. Today, he had decided to take on one of their newly assigned tasks, designed to strengthen the crystal at their tower's base and feed his people in the process. There was no killing required—he'd checked—just the routine disruption of hunter activities, which he was always up for. He anticipated initial failure, so he deliberately went underprepared. He was going in silently; if anything seemed too dangerous on the other side, he would make a run for it. Mmur stepped through, his bare foot immediately coming into contact with an old runic dagger. He swore rather loudly and uncharacteristically, clamping a hand over his mouth when it echoed through the cavern ahead. Just like a hunter to leave a weapon lying around. Mmur hoped one of their idiot numbers had injured himself on it before he had come along. He padded forward after making sure he wasn't bleeding, squeezing between a couple of large, tightly packed rocks. Mmur emerged on the other side and promptly fell into a crouch, scanning the area for movement. This outpost was supposed to be abandoned at the moment, but one could never be too careful in the human world. Luckily, all he saw was a faintly glowing object in the distance, an object that remained motionless as he approached. It was a camera, but it wouldn't be for long. The soldier picked it up and brought it down again onto the rock where it had rested, cracking it cleanly in half. So much for a scouting mission. He froze after that, the sound of shattering plastic even louder than his swearing, but still no one came. The logical thing to conclude was that there really was no one there. Mmur kept his guard up anyway as he continued deeper into the cave, casually knocking an old runic television set off of a children's nightstand. A colorful circle of plastic rested nearby, a circle of plastic that made Mmur want to shout with pride and triumph. He was wrecking things. The horseman kept his emotions in check, at least for now. He strode confidently into the next open space, the darkness there concealing a short, sharp drop. Mmur fell into the water with a splash, a flash of white marring his vision as his nose struck rock. This time when Mmur awoke, he made sure to refrain from standing as he sputtered and coughed, hazily recalling the low clearance here. He gulped in desperate lungfuls of air, a sad little whine escaping his throat every time he exhaled. When he rose to a crouch and crawled on, finally finding a bundle of surprisingly clean hunter coats, Mmur could only muster the strength to scatter the pile at first. It didn't tale much longer after that before he was on his feet again, stomping weakly on the coats until they were damp and dingy. "Take that," he said, frowning at the outerwear so hard. Underneath the clothing, the horseman noticed a rickety metal box that looked rather suspicious. With his remaining energy, he pushed it into the water. Mmur was rarely angry. Happy, almost constantly, sad, sometimes, and more often than not these days, worried, but rarely angry. So when he stepped on a second submerged runic dagger and immediately went to grab it, shouting all the while, it was a shock, even to him. His tirade didn't last long, even so. As soon as he touched the blade, he dissipated with a faint hiss, leaving the cavern partially ruined, but thoroughly unmarked. He would definitely have to exercise greater caution when he returned. attempt 2The second time Mmur stepped through the portal to Scotland, he was much better prepared than he had been previously. He'd brought a magical lantern, several towels, and a soft pouch filled with blood. Human blood. It had been harvested from one of the war clan's recent torturing sessions and it was warm. He tried not to think about it. Expecting to emerge in the same spot that he had before, Mmur looked down at his feet, searching the water for spikes and blades. There were none, but he scraped his back multiple times looking for them as he squeezed past tightly packed rocks and debris. He wasn't more than three steps into the next open area before the floor under him began to buckle and creak, churning the water around his calves until he couldn't see his feet, let alone any daggers near them. Mmur hopped forward, trying to avoid the strange new terrain rather than falling victim to it. He made it seven hops. Then the floor caved in. The soldier held his lips together to suppress the surprised shout he wanted to let loose as he fell the short distance into the cavern below. Luckily, there were plenty of broken beams and rocks to climb in order to get back where he had been. Unluckily, all three of his towels and his lantern were now useless. HP: 30/40 Objects: 0/5Quote: 51 - 60 : The floor here is wooden and water has rotted it down. It breaks and your leg slips through, nearly sending you down into a dark pit of brackish water. (-5 HP)

He hurried past a number of rocks and miniature waterfalls until he found a dry patch next to another television and a second copy of that brightly colored children's movie, this one still in its case. The urge to smash things rose in him again, intensifying as he picked up the plastic box. "Hilarious and imaginative," he muttered. "The most original film in years."Interesting. Mmur flattened his palms against the side of the television and pushed it into the water with a grin. It lay there only partially submerged, caught between a couple of mossy rocks. He unstoppered his bag of blood and dribbled some across the screen. With a nod, he moved on. HP: 30/40 Objects: 1/5Quote: 41 - 50 : A TV sits alongside a DVD of a children's movie. Mmur wondered if their portals were malfunctioning. Maybe someone had altered them so they subtly enlarged the horsemen passing through. It would explain why these passages were so tight all of a sudden and why he was feeling so clumsy traversing them. He could honestly say he had never felt fat in the entirety of his existence... not until this moment. With a sigh, he squeezed forward through the next set of rocks.
