Hello fellow guildies! I'm a member of this guild, and I've been a member of Gaia for over seven years.

For a while now, I've been wondering what it would REALLY be like for the average person to be a new member here on Gaia; just a casual user that does not/will not/cannot buy GC. So, if you will forgive me taking the liberty, I'm going to track my progress starting from Day One (today) both here in this thread and in the journal in my profile.

It might be boring for some, but it might be interesting for others to see how a new member might progress (or not progress) here on Gaia starting from scratch.

I'll be clicking on the DC every day, and I'll be Dumpster Diving. I will also venture into towns to collect bugs and I will post in forums as I can. I will also Booty Grab when possible, and I'll reap the benefits of any current and/or past event grants, but I won't be purchasing Gaia Cash.

As of today, I have only the clothes on my back; the starter clothes in my inventory along with 10,908 gold. I received a message from the Welcoming Fairy that granted me 10K of that gold, and I have no trading pass.

And the experiment begins....

Wish me luck. <3

Thank you! I've been here since 07 on my main, and I've never bought GC either, but times have changed so much since then, and I'm really wanting to chronicle what it might be like for those that are new to the site as we once were.

Thanks so much for the support. I've got a long road ahead of me, but I'm going to stick it out and see where it goes. smile

Day Two:

Claimed all the event/grant items that are available for anyone as of today. GoFusion was released, and with an announcement indicating that component items could be found in the Daily Chance, I came up empty.

Starter clothing; furniture; DC aquarium background and fish sold back to the store. I have 12,018 gold; no trading pass and no new items today. 4laugh

Thank you so very much. I'll need moral support more than anything and maybe some reminders along the way of different ways for a new member to make gold.

When I have more time (RL keeps interrupting my fun), I'll be posting in forums and looking for some booties to grab. I also plan to venture into towns to catch bugs and pick flowers, but it's been so long that I can remember if I need a bug net or not! LOL

I don't think so and you can sell Cashes. You could beg and hit up charity threads as well.

I'm seriously toiling with that, hun. I never begged on my main account, and I've never visited a charity thread. I've donated literal billions to charity on my main account, but I've never taken charity. It's a double-edged sword with that, though I'm giving it a lot of thought.

With the Caches, that's all I ever seem to get from the Dumpster, and they're pretty much worthless right now, but still a viable option for gold. This is HARD!!! I want to gift myself or trade myself a few billion gold, but that kinda defeats the purpose. LOL

I might give the Newbie Forum a shot just to see how new people are treated along the way as well. burning_eyes

Ok and the cashes might rase in price because of the announcement. i have only begged once and that was to donate to the gold sink. Still, good luck.

What about Dumpster Dive? You can do it more then once a day and maybe get lucky -> Caches to open and sell. (Some real MVP's do still donate them)

But maybe that was what Gumpy Ningata suggested, idk.

If you get a hold of a good item that you have no use for, it's best to hang onto it until you need gold for something else. It's easier to have all your worth in items right now since you can ride the inflation that way. It's kind of like having stocks and/or investments in a way.
