User Image There wasn't many things that escaped the notice of the wonderful and strong Ajax's uncanny silver eyes. This male had been among the first to walk these 'endless' rolling plains, making his disposition a little more secure than the other newbs wandering around aimlessly. Ajax watched them with much amusement, one day these clueless creatures would make up the society he would be forced to live among. How strange this new 'realm' was. There were no parents, no blood relations, no elders and more importantly no traditions or laws. These things would hopefully all come with time, but until they did, each and every individual was free; surely Ajax wasn't the only one that felt this way.

As he was contemplating such things, the sun had risen and set several times. This sexy black male needed shelter. He was blessed with an abnormally large muscles which protruded under his tribal markings with every step he took and each motion he made as he built a little structure for himself to call home. Surely it wouldn't be the structure he would spend his life in, but until he could get some help from multiple other B'alams with similar strength, this would have to do. It wasn't much, just three walls made of sticks mixed with dry grass and tree sap as an adhesive backed up against a massive tree. For a door he had a very large hunk of bark from a tree that could open and close without destroying the area around it. He wished there was a cave he could call home, but in the plains there was no such mountain or hill for him to use.

Ajax spent his days since the construction out and about in the plains, trying to meet as many others as he could. It was strategic, only, Ajax wasn't exactly the best conversationalist. In the evenings, Ajax climbed the tree and watched the sun set and some of the creatures go stir crazy as they tried to understand what happened. One even began to cry, thinking she was being punished for one reason or another.

But on this day, Ajax decided to spend the majority of his time on the banks of the river he could see from his tree, sunbathing. It wasn't often Ajax enjoyed a lazy day, but this certainly was one of them.

Here is the profile I created for this Ajax character: Stoic, rough around the edges, silently strong type. Ajax has a strong sense of loyalty and justice. He's not above getting his paws dirty for the right cause but if he feels something is wrong, he will not stop until it has been corrected. Not only is he a strong warrior, but he feels the most comfortable at the top of the command chain.

User Image Creeping along the banks of the river the females eyes where focused on the water, a glittering creature she had yet to see emerge was her target. With all her restraint she was trying to be sneaky, stealthy having to really tap into internal instincts that betrayed her usual care free playful self. Bones was hungry however and she'd been here long enough that land prey was getting smart enough to hide or dumb enough to be no challenge at all. If there was one thing she enjoyed it was the challenge, without that it was hardly enjoyable at all, and the buzz building with anticipation of catching this thing was certainly giving her that.

It would be something new, she liked new, old was boring and as she followed it down stream she pondered to it's taste and textures. Thus far the female had remained alone, all meetings with others who looked anything like her had resulted in either being ignored or getting bored of the tedious conversations and wandering off. Bones had no recollection of a past as such, she simple awoke with a healthy vigour to explore and enjoy herself and that had been her driving force.

Which brought her to the now, grey eyes locked and loaded, she'd been at this for most of the day, tracking and trying to learn it's moves and now she was almost ready. The water wasn't too deep and the creature didn't seem to be able to duck down much lower than it was now because it's shimmers were almost a constant as it reflected the sun. It was a beautiful site and Bones found herself almost distracted from such a memorizing display which lead her to the conclusion it was time.

Pushing her weight into her back legs a quick swish of her long tail she calculated then pounced, throwing her entire weight at the thing. Jaws open wide she felt confident as she enveloped the thing and it wiggled in panic, but not for long, pushing down she crushed and it stopped. However the entire thing wasn't as graceful as most predators, she'd sent water flying every which way and now found herself floating steadily down stream. Kicking her legs she tried to get steady and headed for the bank, spitting out the fish on the land and injecting her grip to the side to prevent any further movement as she pondered the next part of her plan... she really should of thought this bit through.

Oh well.

Ajax was about to fall asleep when his ears picked up the flapping in the water. He snapped up in the same direction, expecting some large, uncoordinated sea creature, but instead he feasted his eyes on a black and white soaking wet B'alam. His eyes lingered as he watched her struggle for a moment before he got to his feet and quickly padded over.

"Do you need assistance?" He gallantly offered a paw out towards her. It was a female! Not just any female, this one seemed to mimic his pelt patterns. How could he not be attracted to her? It was almost comical, but he wouldn't dare laugh at her in peril, she would most definitely get the wrong impression. His eyes looked into hers and saw his own reflected back at him. It was a mesmerizing.

What was this odd feeling? Instantly he knew that he would gladly jump into the river and drown along with her if it was her will. Was she a sorceress? Had she put a spell over him?

With her spare paw she quickly stopped trying to paddle with it and grabbed at the outstretched one being offered to her, right at this moment she had no reason to fear another B'alam of any shape or size and had no hesitation in accepting ones help in a spot of bother. In fact she hadn't even seem another around before her pounce, obviously too engrossed in her game of catch the shiny thing.

Swiftly she found herself out of the water on her front a very soggy kitty indeed but after just a few seconds she rolled onto her back and then began the laughter. Bones laughed at the situation, she laughed at her mistake and generally she just laughed at herself and the world. It felt good, and peeking open an eye she rolled a few times before getting to her feet and shook off the majority water that had clung to her fur.

"Next time, exit plan!" She laughed again as she stood her full height in front of him and found her eyes following his form very attentively. "Your handsome" She spoke out loud, having yet to ever be anything other than forward with her thoughts, even if it did get her into trouble with other inhabitance. Actually he was more than handsome, but she couldn't find a word for it... like she knew it existed just not what it was... or even how to say it. Tilting her head was all she could do as she looked at him and felt very strange indeed, a very new sensation, somewhere around excitement and what was the other one... belonging?

Watching the attractive female roll around in laughter, he couldn't help but laugh along with her, though more mildly. Had he laughed yet in his short existence? No, no he had not. It felt really good, probably the best feeling he had experienced thus far next to how he felt staring into her eyes.

"Yes, exit plans are a good thing." At her compliment he didn't quite know how to respond, so he nodded his head and in his deep almost monotone voice he managed to get out,

"Your not so bad yourself either." He paused again, "Ajax, at your service.."

Looking over he spotted the thing she had been chasing on the bank of the river, no longer animated with life. He came to the conclusion that she had fierce instincts that served her well. Ajax wasn't a bad hunter himself, but he had yet to attempt an aquatic excursion.

"I'll work on that, maybe you could help me?" She smiled and winked at the male, she found herself wanting to stick around. At this point she was far from bored, she was enjoying this encounter and hadn't even laid eyes on the thing she caught. The idea of keeping this Ajax's company was actually rather appealing, she had to admit she hadn't missed their similarities, she enjoyed her looks, her markings and it wasn't a surprise to her she enjoyed it on others too.

"Bones, I think, are you Ajax because someone called you it because you just know?" She tilted her head again as she asked the question, the name just came to her, when asked her mouth produced it. Yet she had no recollection of receiving the name or being given it, it just was it seemed, did she have to keep it? Maybe she could change it but really she didn't have any inclination to do so, it was a suiting name for now.

The female didn't know if everyone was in the same position as she, with a feeling of just being rather than anything else. There was a lot she was to learn still, especially as she'd just done her own thing here and there without much purpose. In fact she was entirely unaware of the extend of the lands and the other's in it, where they all the same or was there exceptions? She wanted to believe this male was an exception he was after all so handsome and strong, perhaps he'd know more and be able to impart some knowledge onto her... with her. Yes she told herself, that was a valid reason to stick around, and even if it wasn't she'd find another.

Ajax nodded at her to answer her first question, but the second took a little longer. That was a great question. Where had he gotten the name from? For a moment he thought and shifted his weight from one side to another.

"I suppose I just knew. When I was awoken there were very few others in the lands. Bones, I like that name." He smiled reassuringly to hopefully sooth her indecision.

"I don't see why you couldn't change it if you so pleased." The male stood tall and fought hard to keep a silly slapstick smitten smirk off of his face. Ajax loved watching other creatures, but he'd never come across one that he wanted to share his company with so much. He too, had a lot to learn. An experience he would much like to share with this Bones. Maybe there was a reason they looked so similar, perhaps this meeting was a part of a bigger picture.

It felt like a victory when he nodded to her first question, she had to flatten her thoughts to stop the smile that was threatening to expose her real joy at such a small gesture. Wasn't helped that she felt relieved straight after when he confirmed her theory about names, and the awakening, it was something they both shared. Already she felt more connected to him than any other she'd come across these revelations of sort was further than she'd gotten with anyone else.

"I like Ajax, you like Bones, seems a shame to change them now" Now she could grin, she could beam at her cheeky yet obviously true statement. Defiantly reassured now he had her attention, so much so that only her tail swatted at the insects that occasionally entered her personal space. Usually she'd start chasing them but then those situations she hadn't anything better to do, this time she did.

"So Ajax, what are your plans till sunset, perhaps even after?" Bones raised a brow, then caught sight of the sun on her no longer moving water critter. Turning her form she padded over and batted at it a bit with her paw, debating whether to eat it or not. The thrill of the new experience with this prey had been far over shadowed by the meeting and she didn't really want to turn her full attention to it. Instead she came to a compromise, looking back to Ajax she pawed some more at the critter and asked "Have you tried one of these yet?"

At her grin, Ajax couldn't do much but mimic it back to her. He admired the ripples it made on her face and the small dimples within them. It was a wonderful thing, watching this beautiful tribal patterned female move and react to him. It filled his chest with an odd sensation of warmth and longing he'd not experienced yet either. As she asked her questions, he again took a moment to answer, he was not slow but pensive as he could think of several activities he would like to partake in with this wonderful specimen before him.

"A shame indeed." He bit his lip before he proceeded. "I like to watch the sunset from the tree I've set my hut against. It's a great tree that takes much skill to climb. But I have not tried that little river creature you have there. Shall we share some new experiences?"

It was an elegant way of asking to spend more time with her, to first share in this fish and then a sunset. Goodness knows what else they could share. The thought of sharing his hut with another had not crossed his mind, he enjoyed his space free from the dunces running wild in the realm. But this Bones, was no dunce.

"Hut you say? I haven't an idea what that is, I would like to find out." It was an acceptance of his invitation and rather well contained one she thought. Well it was also honest, she'd never heard of a hut, all she was used to where plains, tree's and water more new things! Bones also found herself finding any excuse to look at him, sometimes catching herself staring yet she was oblivious to anything more than simply him looking at her. She wouldn't consider herself a vixen, she hadn't intended to be or seem flirty yet instinctively she wasn't as innocent or naive as she thought.

"Tit for tat, new stuffs way more fun with company" Bones nodded, it was her way of saying she'd very much like that another acceptance, she was beginning to wonder if there was anything she'd deny this male. "Besides who can turn down a sunset" Her smile calmed to a linger, it would be nice to share a sunset, she often found time to enjoy the show on her own but yet to experience it with another. As for the tree she anticipated the challenge, she loved climbing tree's and had scaled most in the lands. A new venture would even be fun to attempt or she'd concur it with ease, either was she'd find out then, no point worrying about it now.

Trying to contain her excitement again she decided instead of jumping in the spot or rubbing up against him to relief the energy bubbling inside it would be more productive to survey her kill. Pacing around it for a few moments she at least felt better to be moving and spotted a juicy point to start, leaning down she took her first bite. The scaly texture was foreign but the meat was pleasant, a different taste for sure than anything she caught on land then crunch. After trying to bite through the solid mass she gave up and spat it to the ground and proceeded to bat it around and over, inspecting what she couldn't seem to eat. Coming to the conclusion it was in fact a bone and looking at the hole her bite had left the little sea thing had quite a lot of them.

Ajax nodded along in response to each of the things the female was saying. Aye, a hut, aye sunsets are beautiful. As he watched the beautiful female toy with the little sea creature that sufficed as prey for now, he admired her healthy curiosity, instincts and a quick learner. They would serve her well on a battle field. He would not admit this aloud, but his own instincts went in another way. He wasn't sure exactly what it was he was feeling nor what exactly he desired to do with or for her, but he was more than willing to find out. Affection wasn't exactly his strong suit thus far.

"Tit for tat." Ajax responded, still nodding as he bent down to take a bite for himself. He grimaced as he spit out a couple of the bones. Not the most appetizing thing he'd eaten thus far.

"I think I prefer the meat of the land creatures." He finally let out after he had a drink of water from the river. Lifting his head he noted the sun nearing the top of the volcano, a signal that the sun would soon be setting.

"We should go." He motioned in the direction of the sun.

PostPosted: Sat May 17, 2014 7:55 pm
Following his motion and eye line she saw the sun and reckoned they had a little while before needing to move anywhere. Then she reminded herself she actually had no idea where this hut or tree construct where, and it was in her best interest to follow him. Without feeling threatened or worried in the slightest she gave a very slight nod before making a hasty pace next to him, only a paw distance between them. Since her awakening she hadn't following anyone just things she intended to pounce on or destroy for her own amusement so she wasn't acquainted with what was appropriate. Especially not with this male she seemed so keen on for no good reason other than they looked similar, she didn't want to think about that however, she wanted to enjoy it.

"Lead the way!" She raised a paw as if it was a signal, cheering them on to their destination, as her gaze caught his again. Bones really needed to stop doing that, even she was catching herself staring surely he would to, then any other b'alam would ignore her.. or even ask here why she was doing it. Honestly she didn't like either option, she didn't want to be ignore nor did she know how she'd explain it when she had no idea herself.

"I think." She paused deciding to take her mind away from it's badgering and her eyes away from him for a moment. "You've got good tastes" She chuckled, casting a glance back and the remains of the water creature, something else could enjoy it, but their big mouths found the little bones too much of a nuisance. Bones too enjoyed bigger prey, more meat and less hassle even if it was worth a giggle considering her name.

"What do you usually go for the flappy things or the things that hug the floor?" she didn't know their official names, maybe he'd know or at least know what she meant. She found the flappy things more of a challenge because they could fly away and she could not, the earth hug ones where on level playing ground. Though they could also be fun they weren't as much as a challenge. The female asked this out of curiosity and because she had a knack for filling gaps of silence, not because she was uncomfortable but rather she spoke her mind, usually when that mind of her's had said thought.

As they were walking, Ajax did not look at Bones, but he could feel her body warmth she was so close. With much hesitation he leaned his body up against hers as they walked. It was very forward, but it felt... right. She was a funny little critter, honestly he'd never even thought of smiling this much. At her compliment he nodded a thanks, but then pulled away to straighten up as he was expected to answer her question.

"Oh, well. I suppose I go for the flappy ones. They are more difficult to catch, but I find they have more meat and less filth once you get past the feathers. Skylars, I think they are." Ajax was guessing, but his instincts have proved to be fruitful so far. They were in the sky.. So it made sense enough to him. If they didn't have names yet, he was not below giving them one. He had not thought to name things before.

As they came up to his crude little hut and the tree it rested against he turned to her. "Follow me and you won't fall." With that he leaped up, extending his muscular body to the second or third large branch that was sturdy enough to hold him. His claws stretched out and gripped onto it. Then he leaped to another until they came up to an oddly large branch for being so far up from the ground, one they could both rest on.

The brief contact was unexpected as her mind considered what to do it was her body that answered with no command. Bones leaned back, ever so gently and she found herself serene in that moment much to her surprise, for some reason she had expected her body to react differently. Storing that little bit of information away to ponder the contact was over almost as quickly as it began, almost more of a sway, regardless of it's length it felt... comforting, and the warm tingles kicked up a notch within.

"Skylars? Huh that would make more sense. Always seems a waste, all them feathers, other than picking my teeth there must be a use for 'em." She pondered out load, letting the previous moment slip away gracefully. His name for the flappy things did make more sense to her, they did flap yes but they could reach higher than anything else, up into the sky. Least she knew the name for that, weird that she knew some names instinctively and others not, or was it purposeful? Perhaps a memory, or a gift from whatever force awoke them, and maybe she was just crazy and had been knocked over the head at some point.

Opening her mouth to respond she decided against it as she found herself putting attention into obeying his command, suggestion, actually she wasn't really sure what it was. Either way it seemed a good idea to listen to it and watching carefully she only caught a glimpse of his hut thing (or rather what she assumed was designated the hut). Once he was a few branches up she started her climb mimicking his moves and pushing powerful muscles of her own into play. Sharp claws left marks and she used them in combination with strong pushes from her back legs, and as she sunk her grip into the last larger branch she pushed off and pulled herself up to the final destination for the afternoons show.

Once on her feet she flexed here and there as a form of giving herself a check over to see if she pulled anything, all passed her test and mentally she was about to back herself on the back when she saw the view. What a view, coming forward she found herself brush pretty close to his side with the limited space, it was cosy for sure. Gaze inspecting the sight she found a mix of awe and wonder, and a special feeling of uniqueness, that they where the only two in this spot and able to appreciate the gift of it's vantage.

"Whoa." She finally found her breath escaping, once the entire thing had sunk in.

The view was wonderful, but the male could not be bothered to look at it. His silver eyes were fixed on this fine specimen he was graced to share his branch and his sunset with. As she checked herself out, he followed along with her eyes. Maybe one of these days she would find something useful to do with those feathers, they were as beautiful as she was in their own unique way. He had seen them hung from clasps hanging from a few other B'alam's ears.

"Whoa indeed." It took Ajax three attempts to climb up this high. The first time he fell so hard, the wind was knocked right out of him along with a couple of ribs dislodged from their rightful place. The second time he crashed into the roof of his hut and had to start from scratch with many, many foul words as he did so. Such words he would not dare to repeat in a female's presence.

Before he knew it, Ajax realized it, he had been staring at her for some time. Surely she would have noticed by now. Hopefully, the sight was too beautiful for her to tear her eyes from. He teared his own eyes from her with much grievance and towards the now setting sun. He would stare at her all day if he had the opportunity. Her company was actually quite refreshing.

"Where is it that you sleep?"
