Just a rant and a bump, so y'all know i'm still here.
I'm so fed up with inflation. I've been giving away gold and items like it's
Christmas since this all started and I still feel like I can't help people out.
I've always been into donating and helping out, even way back when having
30k was rich.
The friggin problem I have with donating now is that, I CAN'T FIND A SINGLE
PERSON WHO REALLY NEEDS IT. Everyone has expensive avatars and are
just questions billions of gold. (Though, with the current economic condition,
I guess they are in need.) But, it's so.... Horrible for me.
Everyone is so greedy now, it's sickening. I've been stalking the
Welcome to Gaia thread instead of Charities/Quests because I feel
like the only people who really need help are the newbies. But now, with
everyone being greedy and cheap bastards, people have started making
mule accounts for donations! Wtf? I have no idea who needs help anymore
and now I don't even wanna help my fellow gaians.

I totally understand. I rarely accept gifts anymore without passing the items off to someone else because...I like my avatar...and the gesture for me is enough, what more do I need with gold / items?
But seriously! I feel like I've gifted everyone on my friends list a couple times over, donated to plenty of people in my guild over the past year and to perfect strangers in the forums... I've made contests and giveaways and charities and, well, yeah. If people already aren't very well off they're people who hardly log on...and I don't really want to give to people if I think they've practically quit the website... I mean I try to get into the mindset of giving unconditionally, but even so, there's still a lot to consider. o-o

I know the feeling. I'm always perpetually broke (saying that and averaging at 100k gold makes me feel awkward), so I don't do it that much either. Mostly I just end up donating things to my friends or tipping them several times over. XP (I abuse that tip button. A lot. It feels like my only worth on Gaia anymore.) It's even gotten to the point where I feel awkward even receiving donations. I try not to be, but it's just that nowadays a "small donation" is anywhere from 200k to 1 million. I've been donated 1 mil twice now, and both times it was so shocking to me. I'm used to a "small donation" being 20k.
And of course, even my "big donations" can't match someone's "small donation" today. eek
I know how you feel about being unsure who to donate to. That's why I just run contests; it matters a lot less to me who wins because whoever gets the money/ items earns it to some degree.

So, while I still randomly donate and gift, I'm selective at best. But even then, I got burned in a very big way at least twice recently with the people I gifted listing the items I had gifted them from their "wishlist" in the marketplace for incredibly inflated prices.
Needless to say, that burned my poor burned tits all over again. burning_eyes

This is why I buy for keeps now
Though I think I'll redo my alt's quest thread, since I haven't posted in hers since last year. I buy for keeps on her as well, though I give her more variety on what she can own (she can get MCs and such, I'm very limited on that with Kit here)
