Truth be told, Malodore hadn't devoted much thought to the kelpie recently, though the circumstances of their last encounter still made it feel vaguely ill. That feeling redoubled sharply at the sight of Calder, who as far as Malodore could tell had had no reason for acting the way he had, no excuse - nothing outside of himself such as Insanity or other things. Even Shehk, for all that she did not remember, was still fundamentally herself.
It hadn't been expecting Calder's presence to hurt so much. Worse, the kelpie probably wasn't coming up to apologize. "If needed," it said, warily, trying to assess the situation more objectively.

A sharp sting shot into his chest as it knotted, feeling like his chest was bleeding. The pain twisted to anger, and he slammed a hoof on the ground hard. "Did you even know me? You and everyone else? All you did was run around and have your own fun and friends and adventures and I was always used when it was just convenient. You guys didn't even think I was smart or worth taking around. Just some dumb animal, and now you don't even care after all I did for you. You're not the Malodore I know. You're just some mean undead who could care less about anything!" He huffed, nostrils flared and ears back. "But that's what I get. Being around undeads and demons all day. Undeads like Christof who just care about themselves and demons who care about contracts and what's important to them." Which wasn't him. The only one that did care was Barth, and even he sometimes dabbled with other demons.
He had wanted to have fun. Malodore had been so important, and now he didn't care at all. None of them did.
He was being left alone again.
He turned, rushing and stopping , stomping his hooves in a display that meant he was ready to fight. "Well if you hate me so much, how about you fight me. If I'm so much like....those terrible people who took us before. If you really think that. Then fight me - or do you only get your hands dirty when the person is still on a metal slab?"

Maldore was taken aback when Calder finally spoke, a torrent of words that made... very little sense, to be honest, a series of things that had never happened and words that had never been spoken. When he finished the plague doctor felt vaguely hollow. "I am sorry, truly, that what we had meant so little to you," it said, quietly.
Hate was a strong word. It shook its head. "I do not hate you... but I will accept your challenge." Otherwise it knew what would happen. The kelpie would push and push and push, exactly as he had last time, until Malodore felt compelled to defend itself and then they would be fighting anyway.
At least this way, it would get class credit...
Class credit.
Disgusted, the plague doctor stepped into the sparring area and flipped its tailblade up into its hands. It lifted its beak and stared at Calder.
