This stuck out at me in our latest guild announcement:

"We are currently trying to align this guild back with its original goal: To be HEARD. To bring about CHANGE. This means we will have less events and frilly things because that's not what we're here for. We all joined this guild to make a difference, and we will be getting back to that!"

It's not that I disagree, after all a guild must keep on message. However, I thought this guild was also about being the change it wanted to see, which was how I interpreted the contests and various so-called frilly things. Just a thought here, but if members who are more well off donate good items we can give them to other members in need, things like that. It's just an idea that's been rolling around in the back of my head for a while - after all I think Gaia's done a pretty good job of shutting us out. If Gaia wanted to listen to us, they could open the floodgates at any time, but they haven't yet. I'd hate to see people perpetually waiting and meanwhile losing hope.

We don't have their attention yet, but we do have each other. Personally that's what I'd rather put my time into, reaching out because Gaia just plain old isn't anymore. I'd be willing to help those who need more items to play with...anyone have thoughts / ideas / opinions on the matter?

I'm certain this means that they intend to have more involvement in the act of protest. I, personally, fail to see what we can actually do in this regard that has not already been done in Site Feedback. But we will have to see.

Many people have already opened discount (pre-inflation) shops and donation threads, though.

I can see trying to get everyone re-involved in Gaia. (So they don't want to leave every time Gaia does a thing.)

* Make a sub for "Re-Involvement" or something along the lines of getting back into Gaia.

* Post things like advertisements for Role Plays, Art Shops, the like.

...Eh, things like that. My train of thought went kaput.

We decided to have less events because they are a lot of work and a lot of people don't participate and even give us grief that we even have events. Events are paid for our of our own pockets and it's more than a little discouraging when only a few people are active. sweatdrop
We are about being the change we want to see! There are a lot of members being very charitable in our Market and Exchange forum and just in the guild general. I'm very impressed with how willing people are to help each
other with quests!

As you can probably guess, people have a lot of differing ideas on how a guild like this should be run. We're trying our best to keep balance and make sure everyone's needs are being met. 3nodding
