Leviathan Crusader by Dreamforge Games.
Mine was purchased at Battlefield Berlin, for all non-US purchasers.
In a nutshell, the Leviathan is a Kickstarter funded model kit created by Dreamforge Games, a small US company that had a dream: Affordable, plastic titan sized models. With the help of the Chinese Wargames Factory and an army of backers over at Kickstarter, Dreamforge has pulled it off!
While I missed out on the actual Kickstarter, I did manage to get my hands on a Leviathan Crusader and Capacitor Cooler upgrade kit.
Against better judgement, here is my PLOG where I will track the progress of the construction and painting of the kit. My deadline for completion of this model is the 3rd of November, a week from now.
Stage 0. Unboxing.
The kit comes in a big box, certainly not store friendly as it takes up a lot of shelf space, though I assume that this is done so that the box can double as a storage and transportation unit for the model itself when it is done.
A massive base awaits you upon opening the box.
Attached to the base is a small display plaque that confirms that this is a Leviathan Crusader. The plaque comes with two feet you can put it on. This is probably included for display purposes.
Underneath the thick foam layer are the sprues and a full colour instruction booklet that you can toss out straight away, as the Dreamforge site has revised instructions on-line.
Two stacks of sprues.
This stack contains parts of the vulcan cannon arm, torso and legs.
This stack also contains parts of the vulcan cannon, the sword arm and a smoke stack that I will not be using.
Underneath the sprues is another compartment that holds several plastic parts that were cast using slide molding, these mostly are functioning hydraulic pistons, the head of the beast, massive pauldrons and a selection of screws and a useless screwdriver.
A quick shot of the base, to show off how big it actually is.
Stage 1. Construction.
Nota: For the construction I dove straight in after going over the instructions for quite some time, I did not do a stage by stage pictorial of the whole process.
Nearly completed vulcan cannon arm, minus ammunition feed. I decided to put it alongside the Rhino to show off the size of this kit.
The final product, minus select pieces of armoured plating (That I would add on later anyway) and properly posed to hopefully convey the idea that it is braced for firing the vulcan cannon. At its feet are a Centurion and third-party 28mm miniature, again added to show off the size of the kit.
Stage 2. Priming.
At first I wanted to do just the armoured plating blue and all the exposed inner workings chainmail, but that would be bothersome and require a lot of masking, so instead I went with an all blue (Ultramarine blue from Army Painter to be precise) coating instead. This is the first layer, I revisited the model at a later point to touch up on any nooks and crannies I might have missed the first time round.
The sword arm was not painted blue as that would mostly be metallic, thus painted at a later date (hopefully tomorrow).
What's next?
Painting and finishing touches. Easier than it sounds.. sweatdrop I also want to try and do something with the base, if there is enough time to do so.

Okay, not completely done today until now, did some more stuff..
I painted up a pilot mini that I stuck onto the base, did the base as well and primed the shield on the sword arm, along with some block painting on the vulcan arm.
Close up of the pilot, she's a Bombshell I had left over from their Kickstarter campaign, it's Raven Skye, some sort of steampunk pilot, who makes for an excellent Imperial Knight pilot with her outlandish garb.
Tomorrow.. Acquisition of new paints and metallic primer, hopefully, weather permitting.
