The more I see people turned away from Gaia Interactive as a company, the more I have suspicions that their efforts for the 18+ are going to be a catastrophic flop.

They might use some of the revenue for advertising on other sites, but the majority of the userbase expected for this new site will most likely be Gaians.
But will Gaians go? I'm sure a few will, out of curiosity. But a quite large amount of users who have stuck with this site are being burned by the company's decisions, and swearing off everything except the main site of Gaia, itself, because of nostalgic attachment and the effort they've put on. As well as everything being shut down due to laying off coders and such, like zOMG and several of the games.

They will, however, have no such attachment to this new site. There won't be years' worth of friendships and item gaining and participation giving them a reason to stay.
And, with the way people are closing their wallets left and right, I don't see many people paying for the new site.

So I'm not very hopeful on the outlook of this new site, nor the money that they are probably trying to siphon from the users at the cost of customer loyalty to fund it.
I think it's going to be a giant waste of time and money.

I don't plan on visiting it, either, because I'm grossed out by smut / porn / fanservicey stuff.

But I don't even imagine the people who are not bothered by that kind of thing to be putting their own investment into a site that's being managed by the same team that's been making Gaia's outrageous decisions as of late.

I have exactly ZERO plans of visiting this new site or ANY other site that might ever be offered from Gaia Interactive. I'm not so sure that this "new" site will even happen given the current flake-factor of so many other projects here that just never come to pass. Or if they come to pass, they're soon abandoned like kids will abandon a toy they just "had to have."

Gaia has turned its back on many of its once-loyal members, and I wouldn't dream of giving them a chance to do it to me again. No way.

I already experienced one 18+ site and from what I could see when I revisited it after being gone for years there are now maybe 3 types of people (most got wiped out).

Lying sociopaths who use their online lives to play games and gain pity from others.

Wealthy people talking to friends.

The other group which is a hodge podge of folks that oddly enough are generally self centered to a degree but can be helpful.

I doubt Gaia can outdo said place anyway since it has been around longer, and the 18+ site will fail..

I think in a way I a slowly outgrowing my internet addiction too, I am starting to see things in a more business way (such as knowing facebook is a time waster and is useful for marketing and possibly event organizing but for friends there are better ways to keep in touch) though I have not outgrown Gaia and never will and I still keep my inner child alive.

However I think many are like me in this way, many old gaians have grown up and started to see things differently, we know what the upper management are doing and know if they do it here they could easily do it on the other site.
Besides we never wanted a 18+ site or forum, we just want our old Gaia back.

I agree with you. I guess even those who still defend the current leadership of this MMOG will fall back. And, AFAIK, all this hassle due to this adult site or whatever they're doing is NOT being worth anything.

If this site be created, the reaction from some people will be kinda similar to what's happened with a certain former Disney singer we know, who went from this to something totally different:

I hope it flops really hard.
Then they'll realize they should have been satisfied with what they had with us.
They dun went and stuck their hand in every cookie jar and tried to pull out their fist, but they can't pull out all the cookies they want. They keep trying because they want ALL the cookies and will keep trying until their hand falls off or the jar breaks.

sadly to some extent most ppl on gaia now are close to or above 18 anyway so gaia already has an 18 plus site

I rarely run into anyone under the age of 16 round here anymore.

In fact, most of the users around here now run around talking about kids, husbands, wives, jobs and college. xp
