 Cindy Donovinh here, reporting a shocking Gaia 9 Action news exclusive! According to an anonymous tipster, Gaians will soon have the chance to donate their gold towards something big. Really, really big. Apparently, donations are going to go towards funding some sort of grand gala for Gaians, although that was all our source was able to say. This nameless source also provided a blurry photograph that we've since zoomed in on and enhanced, and we feel it's safe to say that it's some sort of "reward" system for generous donators. Ten thousand gold gets you an item, one hundred thousand gold nets an achievement, donators who contribute a million -- Darn it! I know it's unprofessional, but I can't make out the text here... Something about a boost to your... help and enerpi? No, that can't be right. I guess we'll just have to move on. Donations of ten million gold enters the generous Gaian into a drawing for a special poster signed by some very important people, and those kind enough to donate 100 million gold get entered into a drawing to have the once in a lifetime opportunity to have their avatar put into an event comic! There's also mention of "global rewards" but I've got to be perfectly honest with you, I can barely make a word of it out. Something about teams, items, raising caps? I'm not entirely sure what any of this really means, but that's never stopped me from reporting a huge news story before! Unfortunately, the tipster wasn’t able to provide any further specifics, but this intrepid reporter can only assume that our immediate future involves sea mammals, underground tunnels, and catnip. I was disgusted by this. I've been on this site for many years and even I cannot afford to give them 10,000 gold. This is ridiculous. If they want a gold sink event that's fine but I'm not participating. I just want to play games and have fun at the events, maybe get some cool new items. I don't want to pay for every little thing even in the fake currency....

I would not donate even ONE gold to Gaia right now. They've shown that their non-Gaia Cash users mean nothing to them, and the inflation in the marketplace right now is totally on them for releasing Flynn's Booty five hundred times. This isn't a gold sink: It's B.S.

I don't mean you necessarily, I mean them as to where the donations are supposed to be held.
On the upside, this has the potential to weed out the greedy nutcases abusing the oblivion out of Gaia's marketplace and turning it into the Warzone that it's becoming, on the downside, there may be people caught in the crossfire regardless that don't deserve the hit.

Site feedback and gcd have been boiling like a cauldron for weeks.
The marketplace is through the roof.
Gaia cash is king.
And now Gaia wants us to "donate"?

What is the purpose of donating is my question.
Clearly Gaia has no idea how to handle our donations.
And they're not really donations, you're just paying money for an event. Last I checked, those are suppsed to be free.
So again, what is the purpose? Is this supposed to cater to the Gaians with a lot of gold? Because if that is the case, then it's no different than GC. People with money to spend can have things, those that don't are screwed (for lack of a better term).
Even more so since there are a lot of people with millions in gold because of the Flynn fiasco. So once again GC dictates who gets what.

I actually created a thread about this.
My initial reaction was, "THIS IS OUR LOYALTY REWARD?!" Thankfully, I don't think it is anymore.

I'm actually excited for this, Uncle Kenny has been talking about the upcoming feature for a while, and it was common knowledge in the SF and GCD forums that it was going to be an experimental gold sink (something they've never tried before).
I'm not sure how it'll all pan out, but I am hopeful.

I don't want to pay for every little thing even in the fake currency.... 10,000g really isn't that much, it's about the cost of a nice gold shop item. They've had a couple events like this in the past too, one year they were having us donate trash items to help clean out the system a bit. Of course it's optional, and you're entitled to your opinion, I just don't think this should be taken as some drastic change for the site, or out of line with what a user who's been around for a while should expect.
