Medea's quaint little tent that had highlighted the Lost Clans Sanctuary soprominently back then was a ghost of its former self. While it was still, in all theory, open, the Head Priestess that wandered around, if at all, was no better than an apparition herself. Occasionally, she would wordlessly move in, giving everyone and everything around her a highly suspicious, untrusting sort of judgement. The rare moments she was found inside her old tent, there would be strange sounds: whispers, the hiss of smoke, and what felt like someone who seriously, might have honestly lost their apocalyptic mind.

It was in this state that Jay would find the Head Priestess, who was currently tapping who glowing vials, one red, one green, with a straw. A drinking straw. She seemed displeased at both results, of whatever the tapping was doing (which wasn't actually physically producing any result).

She couldn’t remember the last time she had visited Medea’s tent. From the outside, it appeared the same to her—at least to Jay—but as she stepped inside, the war horseman could see significant changes had occurred since the last time she came to the tent. Eyebrows raised slightly, Jay stared back at the priestess as she shot Jay a reluctant, skeptical look. She tried to raise her arms to show she meant no harm, but the bluejay didn’t know how much good it did her. Maybe it even made things worse.

Sandals quietly stepped forward, giving Jay a closer look at Medea’s current work. It seemed intriguing at first, but then she realized the Head Priestess was tapping a pair of vials with a drinking straw. The curiosity flew away from her face as she knitted her brows together. “Um…” she began, “Head Priestess, is something wrong…?” She treaded cautiously. “Do you need help, maybe…?”

"No!" Medea looked at Jay with a half-crazed expression and then slowly, very slowly re-composed herself. She brushed back several errant strands of her hair and then stared blankly at the War horsemen, as if she couldn't figure out if Jay existed or not.

"There is nothing you can assist me with, if you cannot assist yourself." Her eyes darted back and forth, an odd gesture, a nervous tick, and then she took two quick steps forward. "You are unfortunately, quite cursed. Your taint will only make matters worse."

The loud cry caused the War horseman to take a step back and shoot the priestess a confused look. But her expression shifted, revealing an indignant frown at Medea’s words. “What’re you talking about?” Normally, she would’ve taken the woman’s words seriously and with care, but the strange ticks and gestures implied she should do otherwise. Jay could’ve walked out of the tent right then and there, but young curiosity pulled her closer to Medea. “Cursed? I’m not cursed. I’m not…” Brows knitted together as she eyed her skeptically.

"A dark taint covers your being," Medea continued, ominously, now walking half circles around Jay. They were sort of like whole circles but not quite because every time she got close to the War horsemen she would instinctively flinch and move backwards a few steps. It seemed in the past few moons, any semblance of sanity had not done so well for the Head Priestess.

"As long as this taint resides in you, your actions, your future, they are clouded. You will lose those closest to you with your inability to choose. Tell me, horsemen of War, are you a warrior or a coward?"

Jay stared blankly before raising a covered hand to confirm that yes, she could not see a dark taint. Obviously this taint was invisible or Medea was definitely bonkers. Or both. The War horseman eyed the priestess skeptically. “Are you sure you’re okay…?”

But for now the warrior supposed she would entertain Medea for now. She would play along. Maybe the woman was actually onto something despite her ah, condition. She huffed, standing straighter and jutting out her chin. “Of course I’m a warrior! So, is there anything I can do to fix this?” Whatever ‘this’ was.

"A dark taint," Medea continued, long after Jay had stated that she was indeed, a warrior. She had stopped at some point, staring off at the pyre flickering to one side of the room. The smoke hissed and popped, but otherwise was just as unresponsive as the Head Priestess's expression.

She calmly turned towards Jay and after much deliberation stated, "You are still here, my child."

Yes, yes indeed Jay was.

"Well, then. A task." Medea stared at a point past the War horseman again. "A task!" She suddenly repeated, focusing back towards the sole other occupant in the room. "Of great importance. You must take these," at random, she pulled out a bunch of withered leaves from what looked like the Head Priestess's attempts to do more Famine-type plant experiments, and crushed them, putting them into a bag. "You must take these, and go out, and share them with your brethren. Any who hold the taint, the dark taint of great foreboding, scatter these sacred leaves upon their body and purify their wayward souls."

Long pause.

"Purify!" Medea repeated helpfully.

Jay must go out and scatter... leaves upon three people. You can just have them rp in this thread (have the horsemen wandering around the Sanctuary, doing whatever it is they are doing before Jay scatters them with the leaves of PURIFICATION). Just do this with three different players before reporting back to Medea (quote Zoobey)
- The leaves don't actually do anything other than make the horsemen smell nice.

Shik was doing Shik things that day. Grunting while walking. A fresh kill slung over his shoulder. A scowl on his face. Grunting more.

You know, the usual.

The only difference was that he was doing so as his mount this time, a burly an large grizzly bear that strode with purpose. He was really, really taking to the whole being able to transform into his mount thing upon becoming an elder. But really, who wouldn't want to walk around looking as badass as him?

Exactly.

Plus he really liked slapping the door open to his and Shaheen's shack-slash-cottage-slash-home-place with a paw and squeezing in because he was just rippling with all the muscles right.

Aeron had come to find Medea, wondering if talking to the head priestess would offer the death guardian some insight to his task.

Without his priestess, he was continously wandering after all.

He fluttered down to the ground, his wings curling back to his thighs as he looked around for the priestess...to no avail.

"Surely the head priestess could not be far off..." He crossed his arms, the usual stoic expression unmatching his tone of disbelief.

Shaheen was not in her lioness form as she came into the cleared area that her and Shik's home resided by jumping from tree to tree, wings flapping occasionally to lend her some extra lift to her leaps. It was a noisy way to travel, with many twigs and leaves dropping to the ground below, and the occasional branch cracking beneath her weight. All the while she was tempted to jump down to land on the back if the massive bear swaggering across the ground, wondering if Shikoba would mind too terribly if she tried to get a free ride, imagining herself kicking him in the ribs and perhaps slapping his rear with the flat edge of her sword in order to help him move along a little faster....

If it wasn't for the kill slung over his back, she probably would have tried it. Instead, she behaved herself, and dropped herself down to the ground once at the edge of the clearing, only to wander over towards the hammock to throw herself into it.

And then some complete stranger landed not far off, practically in her front lawn, muttering something barely audible about the head priestess.

"You are lost, and nowhere near Medeas tent." Shaheen pointed out both the obvious and the maybe not quite so obvious in the same breath, as she swung away in her hammock.

A dark taint, Medea said. The war horseman held out both hands in front of her to try to discern the taint from her everyday mud and grime, but alas. “…” Jay found she count not string together anything remotely useful, so she opted for silence as Medea turned around and noted her presence. “…” Yes, yes she was. Her eyes flickered to the side as she shifted impatiently in place. Shoulders relaxed when finally she heard the words she had been waiting for. A task.

Lips parted, but words failed to leave as the warrior stared at a pile of withered leaves in her bandaged hands. “What.” It sounded less like herself, lacking the usual lilt that accompanied most of her words. Jay opened the bag further to peer at the leaves. Her nose crinkled at the priestess’ words. The more she stayed here, the more she was wondering if Medea was okay (clearly, she was not.) It was hardly like her, but it wasn’t like the warrior could disobey her words, so Jay mutely nodded her head and walked off.

“Hmmmm~” She swung the bag in lazy circles by flicking her wrist over and over. She didn’t know what this dark taint Medea was talking about looked like, but it wasn’t like she was going to check Jay’s handiwork, right? Jay could pick any fellow horsemen to “purify.” But who to pick…Lips puckered, she scanned the sanctuary for any signs of life and nearly cackled when she found two familiar faces.

Fellow war horsemen.

The bluejay continued to swing her bag as she ambled over. “Shik~” A half nod to the giant bear. Her smile stiffened slightly. She wasn’t jealous at all. Nope. No way. She raised a hand toward the death horseman, but found that she didn’t recognize him. “…” Jay decided to blatantly skip him. “Shaheen~” She quickly tied the bag to her belt, giving her free reign of both hands. She headed for Shik and Shaheen first. “So, how’s life hm? Haven’t seenyouguysinawhileIwasstartingtomssingyouguyswowsmellslikeyouguysneedsomefreshenershowabouttheseleaveshuhtheysmellnicehi.” The infamous jabberjay. Ah yes. Perhaps her nonstop yammering was enough to let Jay toss some leaves over their heads. They weren’t dangerous from what she could tell, but definitely smelled nice.

Finally, she turned back to Aeron. “If you’re looking for the priestess you can come with me.” She draped an arm around bear!Shik and Shaheen each. Tight-lipped smile and all, Jay brought up a hand and blew a handful of leaves in the guardian’s direction. “Though I can’t say she’s in the right mind to be very helpful right now.”

"Lost, yes, I see this now." He looked at the war horseman, wondering why the female was not covered in her attire. Weird.

Then there was another smaller bird that wouldn't stop talking...

He just wanted to find the priestess and be on the way-

"Excuse m-" And then leaves, "Is this a new attack? It is very pointless..." He waved it away....

"The taint consumes you!"

And then Medea was there. She was just there as if following them all the way to wherever they were was a good idea. Which in the Sanctuary wasn't a lot of space anyway so it really probably didn't take the former Head Priestess that much effort.

The leaves that Jay had blown scattered lifelessly on the ground a bit more. Medea paused. She looked down at the leaves. She kicked them a bit with one sandled shoe.

"I see, one moment."

And with utter disregard for everyone else, she kneeled down, or crouched down and began to push them back and forth, muttering to herself in a language that was foreign to all the horsemen available. "Yes, they have spoken, you are indeed plagued with a terrible curse."

And then she stopped. Still crouching, she stopped, and stared blankly at a point behind the four horsemen, even though absolutely nobody was there. This continued for an awkward thirty seconds before the ground suddenly burst into flames, a portal burning into existence before sucking everyone in.

They seemed to have arrived in a concrete corridor of some sort, very likely Human made. A strange sort of track ran both left and right, and it smelled dark and obviously wet and unfortunately like a lot of Human, though none seemed to actually be around where they were standing.

The what consumes what.

The fur on Shik's back bristled at the sudden proximity of the possibly-not-all-there high priestess and the absolutely-not-all-there Jay--and the leaves. What. Could he not stroll around casually with his kill to eat? Although it was nice to see her up and about and all, Shik was a little hungry . . .

Maybe he could snap up some people while he was at it.

But then Medea was talking about curses and staring into space for whatever reason, and then fire. With a startled howl he and the others were sucked in, and by the time Shik realized where they were he was back in his normal form, sprawled wings and kill and limbs akimbo.

Disentangling himself, the executioner stood and picked up his prey, nostrils flaring. "Human world? What for?" he asked Medea, frowning. Quit casually he brought the kill, what looked like a rabbit minipet of some sort, to his mouth and tore a piece off to chew.

Silly Shik. Didn’t he know? Jay was almost never all there! If she could read minds she would clearly be disappointed. Hadn’t they known each other long enough? But she wasn’t a mind reader, which meant she devoted all of her attention to the priestess when she arrived. “Taint?” She cocked her head like a bird. But Medea never explained, so the warrior continued to stare blankly at the woman when she examined the fallen leaves. Apparently this wasn’t a good sign.

“…Oh. That’s great.” Oh the enthusiasm in her voice when Medea gave her diagnosis. “So what should we do?” Jay stiffened slightly when the priestess stared behind them. Was there a threat? She twisted her neck around, but found no one. Just dirt and plants and air. Quickly, the bluejay decided to look at Medea again for the rest of those thirty seconds. The crackle of fire startled her, but she managed to recompose herself after they landed in a corridor.

She rolled her neck and shoulders. Wings ruffling, Jay turned to Medea. “Uuuum. Pardon my asking, but where are we?”
