I wasn't sure whether or not to post this in the poetry/writing subforum, but figured since there's more traffic here, and it's still fairly relevant, I'd post the vows I wrote last night.
I will try to cite sources later on, as I compiled most of it from our favorite love poems, quotes, songs, passages, etc, while changing up the wording a bit to better fit our story.
Anyhow, I need some feedback. c: The wedding is a little over a month away now *^*
Reading them out loud (& bursting into tears..) I timed them to be about a minute or so long. My maid of honor will carry them with my ring (the bridesmaids dresses have pockets!! : D)
Dearest Brian,
I can't promise you that dark clouds will never hover our lives. I can't promise you that tommorow will be perfect or that life will be easy. But, I can promise you my everlasting devotion, my loyalty, and my unconditional love. I can promise that I'll always be here for you, to listen and hold your hand.
I will do my best to make you happy, to make you feel loved. I will see you through any crisis. I will pray with you, dream with you, build with you, cheer you on, and encourage you.
I can promise that I will be your very best friend, your family, your everything.
I will bring you good, not harm, all the days of my life.
I vow to fiercely love you, in all your forms, now and forever. I promise to never forget that this is a once in a lifetime love. I vow to love you, no matter the challenges we will face. I'd rather have bad times with you than good times with anyone else. I'd rather be beside you in a storm than safe and warm by myself. I'd rather have hard times together than to have it easier apart.
Remember I will always love you - and by "I love you" I mean that I accept you for who you are and that I do not wish to change you.
You are the trip I did not take, you are the pearls I could not buy, you are my blue Italian lake, you are my piece of foreign sky. You are the book I did not write, you are a candle in my night.
I feel like everything in my life has led me to you. My choices, my heartbreaks, and my regrets. But if I had done one thing differently, I might never have met you.
I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride; so I love you because I know no other way, for you are more myself than I.
With this ring I give you my heart. I promise from this day forward, you shall not walk alone. May my heart be your shelter, and my arms be your home.
