PERSONALITY

Wallas is the builder troll with the towers on his head (see his appearance section for what that means). He spends most of his time in his part-hive-part-workshop, learning to build all manner of traps, gadgets, and tools. He also attempts sculptures on occasion. He is still a fledgling at his craft, so pretty much everything he makes at this point is from a how-to book. The fact that he's not very experienced bothers him a bit; he wants to become good enough to sell his wares and store up some extra beetles. While he does have clear potential for the work, he's not skilled enough to make truly stellar pieces, and so he devotes himself to practice.

Wallas has a pragmatic, survivalist sort of mindset. He saves his money relentlessly, always afraid of spending it in case a costly emergency should come up. It doesn't matter how much he has, even if he has accumulated a decent sum of beetles. He fears losing it all to either thieves (which are supposed to be deterred by his numerous traps) or some other force worth being afraid of. Perhaps some highblood may break into his hive and steal his beetles. He rarely buys extra things other than materials; as he sees it, he can't afford to waste his beetles on those luxuries.

Wallas is one of those trolls who is very defined by his position on the Hemospectrum. His personality derives lots of pessimism from his position. He never expects any help or support because, as far as he's concerned, he has no reason to. He has a strong fear of anyone with blue blood or higher (that includes the lower shade of blue, too), despite the fact that highbloods may end up being a large portion of his future customer base. He has decided that his exchanges with patrons will be mostly limited to mail; were a highblood to actually set foot in his hive, he'd probably just straight-out bolt from the place. This anxiety even generalizes to all other trolls; he is easily made nervous when having to deal with other trolls face-to-face.

One peculiar deviation from his pragmatic persona is his fascination with the arts, particularly statues. As said above, he does attempt the occasional sculpture, and he has posters of various famous troll sculptures hanging in his respiteblock. Sculpting is one of the few frivolities he allows himself, and it's his way of taking a break from making traps and other simple gadgets.

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES

Strengths:

Practical- Wallas doesn't entertain any irrational fantasies or delusions (however, given the nature of Alternia, his fear of highbloods is a rational one indeed). He sees clearly what he has in front of him and how he can make it work. He saves his money strictly for emergencies and hashes out good, solid budgets for buying materials and other necessities. He is not the least bit flighty with his finances, no.

Ingenious- Wallas is actually quite creative. He frequently comes up with new designs for traps, tools, buildings, and potential sculptures, though he can't always act on these designs due to a lack of skill. Someday, though...

Knowledgeable- Wallas is very knowledgeable about how things work. One has to have a good knowledge of various mechanics in order to make traps. This knowledge comes partly from books and partly from practice and focuses chiefly on engineering and construction, with the occasional dip into the arts (so he isn't quite so well versed in other fields).

Helpful- Is your hive looking a bit undefended? Say no more- Wallas will make traps for you (well, assuming you pay him, of course). Even if his traps aren't quite top-of-the-line quality yet, there's no denying that he has some handy skills that help his fellow trolls.

Weaknesses:

Pessimistic- Wallas is incredibly pessimistic; on a bad day, he can be a total drag to be around. His life as a lowblood has conditioned him not to expect much from people or the world around him, and he always predicts failure or the worst possible outcome. It can be quite trying to be around him at times because of this habit.

Poor Self-Esteem/Confidence- Wallas frequently second-guesses himself. "I guess..." is practically his catchphrase. He's rarely sure if he can say much that's with confidence, and he's certainly not a braggart ("Well, people seem happy with the work I do, so it must be okay... I guess..."). Once again, life as a lowblood has interfered and given him a poor self-value.

Rigid- Wallas doesn't do well with anything that shakes up his accepted view of reality. He sighs at people who "don't care" about the Hemospectrum or some other established aspect of Alternian life, because (as he sees it) there's no way to overturn these entrenched institutions and resisting them is futile (there's that pessimism again). Once he gets a concept into his head, it can be very difficult to change his mind.

Anxious- Wallas is an anxiety-ridden troll. While it might seem normal to be afraid of losing money or highbloods, his anxiety towards dealing with other trolls might be pushing it a bit. The way he gets nervous around others might not be quite so normal.

APPEARANCE

Wallas dresses simply, like many trolls on Alternia. He wears the standard black shirt (sleeveless) with his symbol and blood color on it, grey pants, and black shoes. The only embellishment to his outfit is a black, sleeveless jacket (...that'd make it a vest, wouldn't it) that he uses more like a smock to protect from dust than anything else. (As a note, said jacket/vest is actually a little bit long on him- it comes down to a bit past his butt/his upper thighs.) He even had to cut the sleeves off to make sure he didn't fry in the heat of the Chittentown desert.



He has large, gawky-looking eyes that seem to take up a large portion of his face. This aspect, combined with a few jutting-out fangs, give him a "dorky" sort of look. His hair is actually rather neat, though it has a few characteristic flyaways. His most notable feature has to be his horns, however. They grew straight up and, instead of being pointed, rounded off into squared nubs. His horns are how he gained a reputation as the troll with the "towers" on his head- or simply Towerhead for short.

HIVE + LUSUS

Hive:

Wallas lives in the desert- somewhere in Chittentown. The industrial atmosphere of the town suits him best. His hive is simply divided into two rooms- his work area and his respiteblock (plus a cranny for the load gaper [toilet] and the ablution trap [bathtub]). It is very sparsely decorated, aside from the few posters of sculptures hanging in his respiteblock and the bookshelf filled with how-to books for future projects.

Lusus:

Wallas's Lusus is a Brick Golem. A golem made out of brick that can bleed his blood color. Yes. Fortunately, in the event that a piece of him breaks off, he doesn't bleed very quickly, so Wallas can make the necessary repairs. The Lusus is very protective of his charge and naturally makes a good wall for the one time in battle that he can be used. Making the occasional repair to "Golemdad" has helped Wallas foster the skills that he uses in his craftmaking every day.

The golem himself is, as one might expect, a very stolid being. He spends most of his time just standing in place and watching over his charge. However, when dangerous situations arise, the golem lumbers into action quite fast for something made of brick. If he perceives danger, he'll throw his arms in front of Wallas to shield him. Sometimes, however, he does this when there is no danger, which Wallas interprets as him being overprotective. It only really irks Wallas when the protection gets in the way- for example, when the golem does it during Wallas's work or when he's just trying to carry on a decent conversation. This overprotective quality has influenced Wallas a fair bit; it has somewhat aggravated Wallas's problems with being anxious and distrusting ("maybe the lusus senses danger and that's why he's guarding me?" is the sentiment that reinforces those thoughts). Overall, the lusus and troll pair get along quite well. Wallas is thankful for his lusus's protection, and the golem seems quite attached to him (maybe those sudden arm-guards outside of danger are expressions of affection?).

BONUS NOTES

If Wallas were in an SBURB game, his title would be the Heir of Space, and he would be in the Land of Nails and Frogs. His consorts would be helpful slate-grey sea turtles who would help him corral the frogs. If the Space hero position was already taken, however, he would be the Page of Life in the Land of Nails and Blocks. His consorts there would be slate-grey tortoises that help to solve some of the puzzles.

Were Wallas to have a Homestuck-style speech quirk, he would say some of his [onsonan+s a bi+ harshly.

Wallas's weapon of choice is a hammer. However, since he is too young to fight, no further information can be given.
