Race: Quenya: A warlike race of people living on the planet Q'All. They range anywhere from five to nine feet tall and all members of their race have horns on their head. What is very unique about these people is that they have three genders, all of which are required to produce offspring, and any of which can carry the child to term. These translate roughly to high male, lower male and female. Lower males are generally shorter and have much smaller horns, high males are taller but have the same horns as any female and females generally come the largest. Gender equality hasn't been a problem in their recorded history, xeno-historians believe this to be because of the strong bonds in families and the element of teamwork required to continue the species. Unfortunately It's very hard for Quenya couples to find a third member so the population of this planet is relatively low and because of this, many Quenya have naturally long lifespans and will not die of old age until they reach the age of about 450, though most of them die younger in combat.

Hair: White, very long and sometimes braided to keep out of the way. Most of the time he'll just let it hang though.

Clothing: Off duty he'll usually wear the heavy leather skirts of his tribe (pictured) he doesn't like wearing shirts and needs button downs in order to get them on but he tries to wear his uniform properly on duty.

Other: His skin is sort of a purply greyish and he has quite a few scars on his torso and one on his face. He has red swirling tattoos on his arms that have been crudely done.

Personality: He used to be very gruff towards the people he met. However years among the fleet and with his children have softened him. He may still be a bit standoffish when meeting someone new, but after the initial breaking of ice he can be quite friendly.

Likes: Spending time with his family, good food, honourable fights, and he has a particular affection for the Crydaar girl.

Dislikes: Androids unsettle him but he tries to be polite anyway, shirts, chocolate and pirates.

Fears: Losing his family, particularly his children who have left home. And of course, spiders.

Motto(s): "War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse."

Personal Belongings: A pair of scale bracers that have been passed down in his family for centuries and his wedding bands.

Bio: Joachim was born to a tribe that lived in the dense rainforest in the Southern Hemisphere of Q'All. Though the planet had developed to the point of having cities by this point, many still lived the ancient ways of life. Like most, he took the path of a warrior and trained with the older masters of warfare until he was 28. At this point he entered his tribe's army and stayed there for six years, helping to fend off attacks from neighbouring chiefs who wished to expand their dominion. A coalition of peace was reached by the chiefs and they came together to end the bloodshed, very unusual for tribes. Joachim took this opportunity to explore the world and left for the Free Cities in the North. When he arrived he was amazed by the size of the place. It was only a medium city but it was the biggest settlement he'd ever seen. He pursued a degree at the local College in military tactics, where he met his future husband, Harahj. Harahj soon dropped the class in lieu of pursuing a Science degree. He got a bloody nose for even implying that Harahj had gone soft. At this point they moved in together in order to spend more time together.

At the end of his five year degree, Joachim entered the local police force and worked his way through the ranks while Harahj continued his studies. He had been working there for sixteen months when he came home to Harahj having tea with a very tall woman. His husband had simply shrugged at him with a nervous smile and continued drinking his tea.

Yori and him did not get along at first and Harahj had worried it would never work. One day all their frustrations had come to a head and Joachim ended up calling for a ceremonial battle to banish her from their relationship. It was hard fought but in the end, she had bested him. She could have killed him but did not. It turned out to be the thing that earned them respect for each other and allowed them to live together still. Harahj had punched him after that, saying he was an idiot but he was proud of them for working it out anyway. After three years, Harahj finished his degree and they all visited their families to announce their Bond Ceremony. His parents had all been very excited and had pressured the other families to let the ceremony be held at their home. Yori had to come from the other side of the world to get there but once it started it had gone off without a hitch and they all got the standard metal bands placed on their horns to symbolize their pledge to each other. 11 months later, Yori bore first child was born and he was named Ghar.

A few months after this the Imperial fleet discovered their planet. It took a long time for their planet's major governments to decide that, no, they didn't need to be blown up and even longer for the two to break language barriers and begin talks about joining the Empire. It was decided that in return for trading rights, technological advances and the defenses of the Empire that they would provide crewmembers for them to train, mostly as armed guards. Harahj in particular was extremely excited to see space so all three of them entered training, swapping off at taking care of their child. Joachim quit his job in the police and after two years they were transferred to Earth to finish their training. It was another four years before they were put aboard a supply vessel. Yori and Joachim for security and Harahj for detecting anomalies. They were transferred to other vessels for about ten years before finally being transferred to the Excalibur in the wake of the Siege of New Capita. By this time they had two more children: Mara and Janai. Harahj carried the fourth.

Ghar had left to study Science with the Imperial Fleet in New Capita while his family had leave in South America at a town nearby. They were stricken with grief that he might not have made it but he had somehow managed to escape and had been flown over to San Francisco while his parents went elsewhere to board their vessel into space. The Empire needed everyone at this point.

Joachim served through the Harbinger incident and Sahlkyr's death and the ship made it through minus one Captain Crydaar. The entire ship mourned for their loss and hope of her return dwindled as time went on and Avalissa Reinhalt was named the ship's new captain. Three months after the dust had settled their daughter was born and they named her Kaloo, meaning leader in sacrifice for Captain Crydaar.

In a few years Mara had left the ship at spaceport in order to pursue an education at the Imperial University on Earth. She had dreams of Captaining her own ship one day. Janai had become a teenager who barely knew of what had happened when they fled to the stars. It was seven years after Crydaar's disappearance that Joachim had become pregnant with yet another child and had to be taken off the roster at a point to take care of his own health. When she was born she was called Den and everyone agreed they'd lay off the children for a while. It was getting crowded.

So now, ten years after the Siege of New Capita, Joachim and his family remain on the Excalibur, looking forward to serving and seeing their kids grow up.
