Keep Your Feet on the Ground ll But My Head's in the Clouds
✬ ══════════════════════════════════════════ ✬
The corridors of the esteemed Excalibur II-Starbolt were as per usual, bustling with energy that on any normal occasion the occupant of the Admiralin's Quarters would have found invigorating. Except it all revolved around the Imperial Fleet, and that she found nothing more than revolting. The young woman stood before the large viewing window that stretched half the fore-wall of the bedroom watching the inky expanse of space pass with a scowl on her lips. She was not an officer of the ship, though she wore a gold star of an Admiral, the Admiral in fact, that had once called these quarters her home.
Eirian had been shocked to be given these quarters. At times she was thankful, they had been her mother's, and much of Illyina Crydaar remained in the rooms. But most of the time she knew it was a hint at the expectations held for her here. Expectations, as it were, that she did not wish to live up to.
Sighing, the redhaired young woman tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, revealing the pointed ears of her race that were sporting multiple piercings today, all skull related today. Naturally Captain Reinhalt would be asking for their removal later today. Of course, Eirian would be not so politely refusing to do so. Lips twitching at the thought, she turned on her booted heel and headed for the corridors. She may as well get an early start on the whole 'moody ward' thing today.

Yvinn-Jettidii Nahl E-7 Chief Engineer About the halls of the Excalibur II, a slim, completely covered figure moved with a near skip in their step. The feet of the figure's suit were surprisingly quite as they moved through the ship, looking around curiously at each and every article of the surrounding hold. From the way they looked, it was hard to tell the figure was a female, save for the rather pronounced hips, and what appeared to be a slightly larger chest, though the rebreather suit did a good job of hiding the latter feature.
Absently, she let her hand drag along the walls for a few moments, her helmeted, visor-wearing head turning to see even more. She knew every inch of the ship by the diagrams she read constantly, but she never did tire of seeing everything for herself. Plus, she often forgot what it looked like, given how much time she'd spent on the engineering deck in her time on the ship. Yvinn-Jettidii Nahl, the Ersomi engineer, Chief Engineer, in fact, of the Excalibur II was beginning to feel the need for sustenance when she rounded a corner to see another figure, this one with red hair, clad in very human clothes, also occupying the halls. Yvinn was certain she'd seen the woman before, but her memory tended not to be very reliable when it came to anything besides technology.
Come on, Yvi..! You can do this... Names... names... Red hair.. need a way to remember these things... Shaking her head slightly, she picked up her pace a little to meet with the person she really thought she remembered. Too much time in the engines... Once she met pace with the other woman, Yvinn offered a small wave with her four-fingered hand and smiled, though her mask prevented anyone from seeing her facial expressions at all.
"Hello! I, um... I don't remember... Have we met before?" From her voice, though altered, slightly, by her mask, it was obvious that Yvinn was a little nervous, though not enough to diminish her good mood. "If so, I apologize... If not, I am Yvinn-Jettidii Nahl, and--" She offered a hand to the woman, nodding slightly, as well. "It is good to meet you. Or re--meet you."

Yvinn-Jettidii Nahl E-7 Chief Engineer Nodding slightly, Yvinn ran through her recent memory. Crydaar... Crydaar... Oh! I remember now! Pleased with herself, she gave a little pointing motion at Eirian which conveyed understanding, and no small amount of joy that she could now recall something. "I remember! Thank you, recalling is not my strong suit..." She tapped the side of her mask, as one might when signalling thought, though the breathing apparatus did make the gesture a bit odd.
"Why call you 'Trouble Maker', though? Have you actually done wrong? It seems to me that, with your heritage being so highly regarded in the Fleet, that you would get a little more respect..." A slight twinge of concern shown in her voice, as she truly didn't understand the reasons for what Eirian was saying. "The Fleet people who taught my comrades and I before our induction spoke very highly of someone with the name of Crydaar. Names do not hold much respect in the Imperial Fleet?"
With the Ersomi people, names were of great importance. There were certain family titles which had been passed down to new members for hundreds and hundreds of years, and with the way the Fleet people had regarded Admiral Crydaar, Yvinn found it incredibly strange that people were so disrespectful to someone who shared the blood of that, as the young Ersomi saw it, hero.

► The Excalibur, as another had thought only moments ago, was bustling as usual. A long while ago, Mikail decided he liked having rank. It made passing through tight corridors easy. Aeroman and others would simply veer to the side and salute, which he of course returned in kind. It certainly made getting back and forth a cinch.
Thankfully, he was currently off the clock. After discussing security with the Earth branch of the Infernalis Corps for several hours into what counted as a night in space, he was more than ready for sleep. But then, the thought of seeing Avalissa had given him enough juice to carry on for a few more hours.
Whistling a cheery bar tune, he swung down the Captain's hall and passed Eirian's room. She must have been out, as no loud rock music was blaring through the supposedly sound proof walls. Shaking his head at the thought of the ships most moody occupant, the Captain continued on and stopped at Avalissa Reinhalt's door. Sliding a hand from his pocket, he rapped on the door as formally as possible, and waited. Knowing Lissa, she was busy as usual. ◄

Yvinn-Jettidii Nahl E-7 Chief Engineer There were a few moments of silence as the Ersomi engineer thought over everything Eirian reacted with. The facial expression shift, the harsh words that seemed more angry at the situation than Yvinn herself; it only took a short amount of time for her to realize that, whatever she'd said, she had made the Torit very, very upset. Raising her hands slightly as if to show she meant no harm, Yvinn immediately began to speak, her words quick.
"Um...! I'm very sorry, apologies...! Didn't mean to upset you, promise!" A hand moved to her mask, and she tapped the small button on the front of the device she wore to regulate her breathing in other environments. "I am... still getting used to the way things in the Fleet work... If at all I've offended you, please, forgive me..." Folding her hands in front of her waist, she lowered her head, her eyes closing under her mask. "If there's anything I can do to make up for... my transgression, please, please tell me..."
Anyone would have been able to tell the young alien was truly apogetic. The last thing she wanted to do was to portray the Ersomi as a rude people, something she always feared would happen on her time aboard an Imperial Fleet ship; now it looked like she had done that very thing.

Yvinn-Jettidii Nahl E-7 Chief Engineer Looking up from her embarrassed ground-staring, Yvinn's head cocked just slightly at Eirian's question. It seemed to her that the woman was honest in her words, and that she truly had nothing to feel ashamed for. But there was still that voice, Yvinn's own, nagging in her head to watch her words with the Fleet people. Not wanting to tempt another reaction and further embarrassment, her hands slowly felt to her sides, and her body turned to continue moving down the hallway.
"I really enjoy it..." Yvinn began, trying to shake away the awkwardness she was feeling at that moment. Luckily, her face was covered by the mask, lest Eirian would have seen the look of sheer nervousness on her face as she tried to re-rail the conversation. "Many of the Fleet people have been very kind; understanding of my culture." She lifted a hand, and let it glide along the wall as they moved. "And this ship... So much beauty in the workings. I feel honored to keep her moving."
There was much sincerity in her words, and she almost seemed to get lost in the thoughts about the ship and her workings. "It is much different than the Argent Gladius, though... I keep more to myself, in the systems of the ship. Not many people seem all too interested in me... Good for staying focused on work, but... Not so good for making friends, you see?" The faintest hints of loneliness entered her modulated voice, but she tried to suppress it, so Eirian wouldn't pity her. After all, the woman had her own emotions to deal with; why should Yvinn push her own problems on her?

Cedric Allen E-7 Navigation Officer
The sound of boots hitting the floor of the Excalibur II could be heard as a man of slender build and average height walked along the same corridor Eirian and Yvinn were in. As he approached, he stopped and had a small, friendly smile on his face. "Miss Crydaar, Engineer Nahl," he said, and he had a soft, soothing air to his voice as he spoke. He most certainly looked human, and only someone like Yvinn would know for sure that he was actually a synthetic being; an android, for lack of a better word. To most people, the only tip-off that he wasn't human was his infallibly polite way of speaking.
"It's good to speak to you both. How are you today?" he asked both females, still seeming quite at ease and giving both women a nod of respect.

Yvinn-Jettidii Nahl E-7 Chief Engineer Eirian's words did much to help Yvinn's steadily lifting spirits. While she knew the woman wouldn't be able to see it, she couldn't help but smile. Nodding in agreement, the young Ersomi, clapped her hands just slightly. "I would very much like that, Eirian..." She said, looking back to the redhead as she slowed in pace. "I hope it's okay if I call you by your first name... You can do the same for me, if you want!" It would have been a lie for her to say she liked being referred to as "Engineer Nahl" or "Petty Officer". First names were given for a reason, after all, and other titles such as rank merely complicated things.
"Just call me Yvinn or Yvi... Many aboard the Argent Gladius called me those. Made things simpler, eh?" Chuckling, a sense of casual ease returning to her voice, Yvinn turned to see the new approach to their conversation. It was none other than the navigation officer, Cedric Allen, whom the Ersomi had been able to pick up from day-one as a synthetic. She didn't treat him any differently than the other Fleet people, however, and in fact enjoyed their dealings; it was nice to have someone so polite around. Looking to the man, she offered a small wave. "Jiiban, Petty Officer Allen."
Lightly, she motioned to Eirian, still facing the synthetic. "Just speaking to Eiria--Miss Crydaar, here. Sometimes I forget who on this ship I've met, and who are strangers, still... Many Fleet people look the same." Another small chuckle punctuated her words, and it would be apparent to practically anyone who had spoken to the alien woman that "Fleet people" was the term the Ersomi used to refer to humans, or those who looked too much like them.

Erian half smiled at Yvinn. "I'll be sure to do that." the young woman replied demurely. It wasn't a bother calling the Petty Officer by her first name. Admittedly Eirian would not use such friendly terms around certain officers. That would just earn her another earful.
Sighing inwardly at the stupid complexities of the Imperial Fleet, which were far more complex than that of Eluthian's own royal structure- much less the military, Eirian glanced up and watched the Navigation Officer as he arrived. "Hello Petty Officer Allen." Eirian all but echoed Yvinn, absently taking on the woman's way of speaking. On occasion she forgot about the whole 'Shift' thing and did it on accident, like now.
"You know me Ced," Eirian raised her hands at her sides in a 'what can you do' sort of gesture, blatantly dropping the rank structure for the moment, "When I'm in the halls, security hits Code Red." Whether that was a joke about her hair, or a more obnoxious reference to her attitude, Eirian issued it with a deadpan tone. She liked Cedric, well enough. At times she was a bit wigged out by his Synthetics, but she figured there was some right to be, seeing as the first time she bumped into the guy she could feel the energy racing through him.
