[Mistress of Monsters]

Reflections

Dust, sand, wind.
All blows away in the endless currents of the wind, leaving nothing but thoughts of the past behind.
Time is a deadly illusion, one we cannot escape no matter how hard we try; as soon as we discover something about the world, it once more slips away into a fading nothingness.
Blue skies, blue water.
Endless.
Lifeless.
Empty.
I look out upon this sea of doubts, but all I see are mere reflections of me. A sole word echoing in my mind.
Alone.

Allo! I saw this forum and decided to put up a few of my older poem, tell me what you think! I also write fanfiction but I'm not sure if I'll post any..

 

[Mistress of Monsters]

The Lantern

Do you see of what I see?
There among the willowy trees?
It dances eerily, that of which is shown to me.
A flicker of red, a burn of the dead.
A whisper through the sea.
Upon the cliff or on the drift, there is always one to see.
The tongue of flame that shows that was ahead, a beacon of the free.
He wanders there, or is it she?
Their misty form escapes me.
Only the lantern, clear and calling, allows itself to be seen.
Although the two are the same, they tend to play a different game.
Sea of red filled with the wreck of the dead,
While its twin guides the way ahead.
So been keen traveller, follow the lantern of the trees,
Unless you wish to meet the icy grasp of the sea.
