I am wanting to learn Chinese. Tips on how? sources I could use? Good or Bad idea? my school does not have it as a class.

I take chinese, it's really hard in my opinion (and i'm chinese LOL). You have to learn the right characters and strokes, how to pronounce things, it's really complicated. this website may be helpful smile. Good luck if you decide to learn!

Try to start learning by your own it can make the class easier if you take it...
I know people that learn by themselves readings books, watching dramas, and online, videos on youtube.. XD Google also...

My bf downloaded Rosetta Stone. I've been attempting to learn Japanese but it is hard! gonk Chinese looks and sounds even more difficult, honestly ^^:; But I've never been too good with learning languages. It helps if you have someone to practice with, so if you can find someone who wants to learn too that can help!
I am part chinese and I am trying to learn mandarin, so I decided to purchase a book called Mandarin for dummies. It comes with a CD of the dialogues in the book, tho I can't really find the part where it teaches me how to write characters. It is pretty handy cause you would know how to each phrase.

thank you. i start as soon as I feel better. sad that will help alot though. any Ideas on how to teach myself?
