Gaia online name: Davey Word Hunter
Civilian name: Melvin Dimple
Heroic/ Villain name: Dryarlok the Great
Appearance:
Costume:
Age: 26
Weapon: a pair of matching scimitars
Bio/history: Like many of Melvin’s contemporaries, Melvin was caught up in the Dungeons and Dragons phenomena early in his childhood. He never played D&D, either in the original paper and dice form or the numerous D&D computer games, but he has read every novel set in a D&D world, and so he considers himself to be an expert on the subject. Melvin was particularly drawn to the characters that were classified as Chaotic Evil in alignment, and came to embrace the concept of chaos to the point where he had become convinced that all governments and organizations should be torn down simply because they exist. At the same time, he began to fancy himself to be a powerful drow warrior and a great leader in the drow society. As Melvin had sallied forth on his first expedition to spread fear and destruction in the name of chaos, he had run headlong into (you’ve guessed it) Captain Hammer, Corporate Tool. Unlike Dr. Horrible, who had persisted in spite of his many setbacks at the hands of his nemesis, Melvin’s encounter with Captain Hammer had traumatized Melvin so much that he had crawled into a hole and hid, figuratively speaking. Now that Captain Hammer has been missing for all of this time, Melvin is ready to sally forth as Dryarlok the Great once again. His stated reason for waiting so long was because he was waiting for just the right moment. In truth, Melvin wanted to be really, really, really sure that Captain Hammer was gone.
Alignment: Evil, of the chaotic variety
Character’s Theme: AC/DC - Back In Black
Affiliation: No clear affiliation
Anything else: Melvin recognizes the fact that one can create more chaos with bombs than with a pair of swords, and so he is using the internet to teach himself how to make bombs. In addition to the fact that the drow are fictional, Melvin conveniently overlooks a number of things. One, even though the drow are well-known for their chaotic behavior, they do have a well-established power structure to govern them. Two, the drow have a matriarchal society, which means that the women rule instead of the men, and a man like Dryarlok (i.e. Melvin) was regarded as a second-class citizen. Three, the matching scimitars that he learned how to use are supposed to resemble those wielded by one Drizzt Do’Urden, but that is at odds with Melvin’s chosen persona because Drizzt is properly classified as a Chaotic Good drow.

Take two:
Gaia online name: Davey Word Hunter
Civilian name: Melvin Dimple
Heroic/ Villain name: The Darkness
Appearance:
Costume:
Age: 26
Weapon: Light Suppression Device (LSD for short, not to be mistaken for the drug)
Bio/history: Early on in his childhood, Melvin decided that the one thing that he loved the most was money. However, he was averse to doing anything to earn money himself, and so a life of crime seemed to be the way to go, especially since stealing other people’s money was so adventuresome. His stated reason for assuming the persona of the Darkness was because darkness was ever-present and ultimately indestructible, but to tell the truth he liked the darkness because it was easier to get caught in the light. Since his purpose of becoming rich from other people’s money didn’t sound that impressive, Melvin claimed that as the Darkness, he intends to bring chaos and destruction to the city merely for the sake of chaos. However, he reasons that his heists were more likely to be successful if there were a dozen other problems going on at the same time. Now that Captain Hammer has been missing for all of this time, Melvin is ready to sally forth as the Darkness once again. His stated reason for waiting so long was because he was waiting for just the right moment. In truth, Melvin wanted to be really, really, really sure that Captain Hammer was gone.
Alignment: Evil
Character’s Theme: AC/DC - Back In Black
Affiliation: No clear affiliation
Anything else: Melvin’s LSD does what the name suggests, but it’s effectiveness is proportionate to the size of the room he’s in and the amount of available natural light. The interior of a bank vault will be plunged into complete darkness, while the lobby of the bank will be shrouded in shadows, as if late at night. As for outside in the sunlight, forget about it!
